Bio: Zel was born about five hundred years ago, in a land that none would recognize anymore. He grew up under his father, a member of the ruling class in shifter society. You see back then, shifters were ruled by a counsel of sorts, where the oldest and most powerful shifters decided rules that the rest would follow. Zel knew that these rules have helped his people survive this long, by staying hidden from the humans. As he grew he witnessed a few attempts by shifters to reveal themselves to the humans, and consequently the repercussions. Among these were the Salem Witch Trials, Great Crusades, and so on. All were times where shifters had tried, and failed, to join with the humans and become a full society.
So he grew, and he learned the ignorance of humans would never allow his people to live side by side. Still he tried to teach, to educate humans and shifters, so that hopefully one day both species would be more tolerable when they deemed to reveal themselves again. Zel was even known to stand in defense of human nations during wars when he deemed the reasons just or right.
Now when shifters were discovered over forty years ago Zel thought that maybe things would be different as it was humans who had found them out. He would be proven wrong, more than he knew. When the atrocities of what was happening to the shifters under the knife of these human scientists Zel became furious. He tried to retaliate, but was held back by the ruling council and his father. Zel pleaded with them to allow him to defend their people, but none would hear him, they told him that this would blow over and the shifters would be forgotten. Just like before, but it didn't happen, more and more continued to happen to his people and he was forced to do nothing.
Finally he had enough, he could no longer stand by and watch his people be exterminated by the humans. He did what he had to do. Zel gathered like minded shifters under his command and in one bloody night they murdered the Shifter's Council. Zel killed his own father. Thus the Rebellion was born and the next day Zel burned down Berlin.
Six years since he commands the Rebels from deep under the Rocky Mountains in America. A base that none have yet to detect, and where the rebel shifters know a semblance of peace. Where they can live their daily lives without fear of being found out by humans. Where they have families and children with other shifters. Also where captured humans are turned to slaves and soldiers are tortured. Yes it is a Utopia for shifters, but a nightmare for humans.
