This RP will be combat heavy. But I value charachter building and interaction, so there will be plenty of downtime and other stuff as well.

Some would say, that regardless of our actions, the world keeps turning. But if we go down this road, there might not be anyone left to feel the world turning. Following a massive financial meltdown in 2017 and an “Asian Spring” much like the Arab Spring of 2011, Bangladesh, Vietnam, North Korea and many other Asian states found themselves embroiled in civil wars. America, already wrecked with debts and facing a internal crisis due to the acts of domestic terrorism, had nothing it could contribute. So it was China, who neighbored most of the countries anyway, that took action. With official UN backing, Chinese troops spilled over the borders. And sure enough, there would be peace at the end of the bloody conflicts. But China now owned most of Asia in all but name. The regimes were nothing but puppets, the companies that built it up again and escaped with the benefits were all Chinese. The Chinese, already the biggest economic power, now out weighed a weakened USA in the UN. The tides were now shifting. With so much of East Asia under the sway of China, and with the Chinese spearheading the African Rebuilding process, the worlds foremost Superpower was no longer the USA. It was China. But with great progress, comes higher demand. While China is more powerful then ever, its government is less so. The iron grip of the worlds largest political party has lessened as a stronger middle class has emerged. And a schism within the Top Brass in its own miltary would later lead to large scale desertion within their ranks.
Of course, there were more then a few nations who felt the pressure from this. But no matter how much the UN pressured China, the country was a massive financial superpower. It was around this time that China began to officially supply arms to countries hostile towards America. The Chinese influence, substantial in the poorer states of Africa, allowed China to wage a cold war on the US. East and West was no longer about the east European block vs the West world. It was now China vs USA. And the the battlefield consisted of stock markets, the virtual net, and the few countries not yet stripped bare of its resources.
Meanwhile. Russia and EU, long time rivals in terms of local influence, both faced internal crisises of their own. Russia, a powerhouse by all means, still sufferes from a crippling amount of corruption within both its social and military sectors. And it suffered some rather violent internal strife aswell. Increasingly militant Ultranatiolists clashed with ”Pro-Democracy” supporters. Regions that long belonged to Russia began to scramble for autonomy as the economy grew worse. Desertions within the military at all levels began to happen aswell. Many of these went abroad to join mercenary crews. In many ways, the Russian Mass-Desertion was the start for the private military companies rise to power. By the end of 2023, Russia was in total collapse.
Following numerous financial crises within in the EU, tension began to rise between stronger, established Nations and those that were suffering. Nations like Greece were bankrupt, with riots and massive civil unrest as a result. Other, stronger countries like France had just barely kept itself from financially collapsing. But with more and more countries no longer able to properly substain their own budgets, the blame began shifting towards the EU as a whole. The domino that truthfully started it was when Britain withdrew from the EU, following BP's Bancruptcy and the uncovering of a large, widespread corruption within the EU Parliment. Soon Sweden, Italy and Spain followed suit. The EU was in complete chaos.
What came next was a series of conflicts that would forever change European history. On the eve of 2023, Italian Prime minister Anthonio Visceras was shot by a unknown assassin. One month later, A series of explosions sank a Italian destroyer. Four months later, Northern Italy Declared itself a separate entity by both popular Vote and parmlimental resignation.. Italy had long been a country divided in North and South, with North being very industrial heavy and blaming the countries problems on the poorer southern Italy. This Northern Italian League was heavily capitalistic and actually turned Norther Italy, now Pandona, into a prosperous region.
Scandinavia in turn benefited from the chaos just like it always does. Rather self sufficient the 4 countries would slowly integrate into one new, strong Nordic Republic. Britain, Germany, Spain and most of the major countries did in turn recover as the dust Settled, having had a history of strong economies.
A country that was less fortunate were aforementioned South Italy. Weakened and far poorer then its wealthy northern brethren, the church became the only thing its people could turn to. The country became a strongly catholic state, one where the “New Christian Party” is the ruling party and strongly backed by the Sicilian Crime Syndicates. European Meltdown led to a surplus of smaller conflicts and border disputes aswell, with alot of soldiers signing up for the fast growing PMC's
The North American Nightmare.
[Spoiler=America]The United states, Not so united any more. Following a downward spiral and a mounting financil Crisis, America hits a new Depression. This immense economical failure brought markets to its knees all over the country and the world, and there was a sudden, violent outcry. In the south, Militias blamed the government entirely. In the north, Citizens looked to the corporations and rich for their anger. Riots began to become more and more widespread as did armed skirmishes between well armed citizens and government officials. As a counter measure, the Federal government forced trough a ban and return program for all weapons short of hunting rifles aswell as nation wide revocation of many licenses. As an act of desperation, it seemed a good thing in theory. But the already inflamed situation was now a festering wound and America stood on a brink of a humanitarian and military catastrophe. The town of Brookwills in Texas was the starting shot. The entire Town, at the brink of ruin due to lack of jobs and any income, ended up actually ousting government officials from the town. Similair events happen all over the state as a organization calling itself “ The Lone Stars Republican Army” begin to actively operate within smaller communities. It is soon labels it a domestic terrorist group, But the phenomena spreads beyond Texas. Other militias join in a combined effort to toward Federals. Driven not so much by right Wing extremists as a overwhelming anger at the current situation, Americans fight each other on native soil. The militia grows in power, with Texas leading the charge. Defections begin to take place as Texans and other from the affected states join the Militia, providing a already well armed force with even more guns. For no less then 3 months, The American army has to deal with what is a popular uprising. Fighting them town to town, with only more disgruntled citizens joining the LSRA. Around 2027, a truce is formed. But America to day, remains strongly divided. And with Militia men and soldiers finding themselves without a conflict to figt in, they two would end going to different private outfits.

Enter the PMC's and Mercenaries. With a cold war comes the need for wetwork and deniable plasuability. Add to this a shattered EU and a collapsed Russia rife with opportunities. Where China often supported anti-American goverments and America worked to counter and revoke the Chinese influence in Eastern Asia, there are many other players both big and small to consider. The many different Russian offshots are often embroiled in conflict with one another, and It's in the Northern Republics interest to support some and sabotage others to keep their borders safe. The Middle East is still rife wife conflict, and the few somewhat stable (and rich) nations bankroll varius group and companies to keep them that way.
But the increasingly active PMC's were growing out of control. Their involvement often turned conflicts on their head and when two bigger companies went toe to toe it would often lead to large scale colleteral damage. One such incident happened right on the American Border to Mexico. Mexico, still struggling with widespread corruption. The American PMC called ”Big Horn Surveilence” were in charge of securing a package along with Mexican marines. They ended up being ambushed by highly professional soldiers who later would be revealed to have been bankrolled by the Zeta Cartel. These had not been Zeta loyal, but bought trough CCA, a Columbian outfit who have many Russian and European specialists within their ranks.
The battle that followed would be long and drawn out and as the BHS pulled out of Mexico, the violence would turn into a regular war on the streets of varius Mexicans cities as Zeta did everything they could to get ahold of the package. Several PMC's were drawn into the conflict in varius ways. Other Cartels used the distraction to hit key Zeta locations and strongholds. Several other nations wished to claim the package and its contents as well. The aftermath of this was a Mexico in Flames, a new refugee crisis at the border and the UN stepping in with what came to be known as the Angel Protocol.
The idea was to create a new International Organization that existed to soley to regulate PMC activity. Investigations into varius PMC activity was meant keep private armies from running to wild. Ironicly enough. Alot of Angels Protocols own methods relied on their own force, and some of the Larger PMC's would even end up acting as consultants and lend their aid in Angel Sanctioned operations.
With the larger PMC's having to clean up their act, it fell on smaller outfits to pick up the more risky and shady deals. This sub-economy of small, tight crews and wetwork specialists became known as running ”The Devils Gambit”. Mercenaries who weren't adhearing to Angel Protocoll were known as ”Devils” within the buisness, and their existence were usually about making as much money as fast as possible and disband before you became a sanctioned target.
This brings me to you lot. My players. You are Devils. Devils for Hire. You are gunrunners, rogue agents and proffesional soldiers. Your past is your own, your purpose supposedly quick cash. But you are aware not all is well with the whole Angel Protocol buisness. You know of corruption, of secret projects bankrolled by the PMC's in league with it. You don't have all the pieces. All you know is that shit is about to to get real.

Cybernetics and you: The Man and the Machine.
Since far back in history. Humans have used prosthetic. Cybernetics was never really so much a sudden amazing realization as it was natural progression. In early 2000's ,we already have fully functioning finger prosthesis. The modern day era cybernetics are simply a far more sophisticated approach to the same. Capable of actually augmenting your strength, available in a number of styles and for different purposes it is no longer about replacing lost limbs. It's about breaking your limit trough the integration with machines. Due to the complex, often dangerous nature of something so powerful like a plasma torch finger or a gun hidden in your arm. all Cybernetics need to be properly certificated, monitored and done by special professionals working for the company that produces them. As It stands however, people are making a killing on the black market. There is also a limit of of how much you are allowed to be augmented, especially for combat purposes. PMC's have document and obtain licences trough Angel if they want to field agents with such capabilities.
Among the Devils though, there are more then a few so called ”Full Metal Devils”. These guys and gals have become machines of war. They are augmented to fight and do nothing but fight. But as you cannot obtain this trough legal means, prosthesis rejection and organ failure is something of a grim reality.
Playing Gods – Altering Mankind
Another kind of enhancement, is genetherapy and biochemistry. Very potent, longlasting combat stims have flooded the market. And there are more then one example of genetically enhanced soldiers. Most of these are of Chinese or Russian Labs originally. The boosts are less obvious then that of a cybernetics. Where a metal arm don't get ripped by bullets, a body thats gotten enhanced reflexes will if hit. It should be noted that Genetic enhancement is strictly forbidden.
