In this modern day and age, heroes are mere concepts in comic books, there is 'no such thing' as super powers, aliens, and crazy battles. But there exists a city, one that only few are allowed to ever see. It was this village that gave rise to comic books, because most comic books are real stories about real heroes and villains that fought in imagine nation. The birth place of heroes, and villains. This Nation travels the world, their home moving from time to time, not staying in one place for very long. The purpose of this place is to raise new heroes, so they may use their powers to protect the world. From both Villains, and unknown enemies who may wish to attack their home. They are the first and last line of defense. In this city seeing super battles in the skies or on the ground is a regular thing. it happens all the time without any anyone breaking stride from their regular life styles. The best of each new generation of heroes gets to attend a special school called The School of Thought, which is taught by the current Council Members (the Leaders) of imagine nation. Note: this is the one based off a book, if you'd like to read it and get better concept of the world it's the Jack Blank Adventures Book 1: Imagine Nation. Also called The Accidental Hero
Hightown - More of a rich district with huge skyscrapers, apartments and similar places. Mostly wealthy people, and big Businesses are found here, Normally where you can find the 'smartest' yet heartless man in the world 'Smarts' an ex council member.
Machina - District of Machines, this district is home to all kinds of sentient machines. Androids, Virtual A.I, and more. The district is fairly bland and doesn't contain much itself, the real district exists in the virtual world where all the machines connect from their charging pods. Organics can also enter this place through special pods primarily found in Hub buildings.
Cognito - This is a mysterious district, it never stays the same. multiple times a day this district moves, streets change names, change directions, homes move to entirely new locations, neighbors change, etc.. Most people found here are people who want to live in secret, they prefer to stay to themselves, when it's living as their secret identity, or maybe just hiding at their secret base. Only residents of this district know how to found their ways around and always know where their homes are. only they know how this is done and how they remember.
Varagog Village - Hate science? Hate massive technology? then this place is for you, plain dirty roads, Castles towering over small cities, people pulling carts, a dragon flying over head. This place is ever stuck in a medieval time with fantasy mixed in. When your a King, or simply someone who's dabbled in the arts of magic, this is the place for you.
Hero Square - sometimes the most busy place during festivals, this is a big place in imagine nation, sitting in the center is a strange black sphere. in this sphere is where all council meetings are held, meetings that can decide the future of imagine nation. This is also where initiates for the special school meet for the first time. It over looks a statue dedicated for many fallen heroes and villains who gave their lives to protect the world during a massive invasion. (just south of it on the map)
Galaxis - As this one's name says, this is the place for sci-fi, here aliens come from all over the galaxy, some just stopping for a short while to resupply, while others deciding to spend some vacation here. while others have made this their home. This is normally the busiest in all of imagine nation.
Karateka - This district was almost taken out of an only Asian move. with Asian theme structures, this place mixes many things from ninja's, to martial arts, to Soulless Ninja's who know martial arts. This place is one of the more dangerous districts for anyone who travels alone.
Seasonstill Park - Siting between all of these districts is a park, this park is almost sectioned into 4 areas... each area contain a different season that is always in that state. a snowing winter, a warm felt summer, the park contains all the seasons for people to experience. yet in the middle of the park is a small forest area, because of being surrounded by these unique events, this place itself has been affected, gravity has lowered in this place. if not careful you could float away into the sky forever.
All districts besides Varagog (dirt/stone roads), and Cognito (regular old brick roads) has Levi Tracks going trough them which are highly magnetized roads that allow vehicles to hover over them.
Our characters have either just arrived at imagine nation for the first time sense they was born (was sent away), or has lived their entire lives there. They have been chosen to take the entrance exam for the School of Thought, they must gain an acceptance vote from each of the 5 council members, if they fail to gain the acceptance of even one of them then they wont be allowed in the school of thought.
A School for the best of the new generation, a school that extends over 6 years and isn't held in a school structure like most are. This class room is the entire world, one to two days before class, each student will receive a letter that will tell them the time and place. These classes wont always just be with the same students you enter with, sometimes students of the higher or lower classes will be there as well. 2nd year students take on an apprenticeship with a current super hero chosen by the council, in order to learn what they may have to do in their daily lives.
1. no god modding 2. no controlling other player's characters without permission 3. If you know the story, all cannon characters are NOT available, for it's years later, some are now council members. (controlled by me and co-gms sense their NPCs for this story). 4. GM has final say like always 5. Copy this line somewhere into your CS 6. Try not to rush posts, for some people may not be able to keep up 7. Characters must be approved before allowed in the Character tab 8. If required more rules will be added.
-CS- Name: Gender: Age: (13-15) Race: Home District: Appearance: Superpowers/skills: (Note: this doesn't have to be a super power itself, 1 character had a unique skill able to cut through nearly anything with his swords, some characters could just be highly skilled Martial artists, etc... They are in Training! so don't over do it!) History: (How they lived until now, if new resident then they would of been brought by a 'scout' who found them by their power, which would of had residue on them throughout their entire lives with random things happening around them) Personality: Other: (Anything i have forgotten that they may have, like equipment and so on.)
Here i was hoping at lest one person would join :( .... i use to be able to get rps started without any problems before, but now after coming back from my break dealing with college, it seems near impossible to get even one going...
You'd probably have a better chance of getting something up and running in the casual section dude. The issue with the free section is that a lot of the threads here are either reboots, long standing role-plays, or the same shit as at least three other threads just rebranded with a different name. Not much room for new and inventive ideas when most people gleam over something new to sign up for supernatural academy thread #876. I tried to make a space horror Rp on the free section a few months back that would actually have legit suspense and kill-your-character-dead consequences without so much as a single response.
You've got a bit more substance in Casual since there's usually several different types of role-plays going, not to mention that those you can actually get the attention of tend to stick around longer since casual CS' usually have higher standards and can't easily be written up in about five minutes.
the thing is i don't do extreme posts. i don't see how to do paragraph+ posts in every possible post, and frankly i find if a lot of posts happen people can get pushed out a lot easier in those kinds of rps as well. before i had offered 2 roleplays, in the free section, and they got a crud load of attention before, and lasted for a good while until my schedule became busy and caused them to fade away. so to not see any attention like this is very strange. even if the school year recently started.
Perhaps if you were to start up a role-play after gaining at least two or three other participants to get the ball rolling you might be able to get more people interested. I was honestly enjoying the idea of participating in that space adventure RP you made about two weeks ago. It seemed like one of those things that would have taken off after a few IC posts between you me and shikaru. With some RPs you have to give people a taste of what they can expect. Say if we'd continued that idea despite there being only three people: eventually someone's going to get curious due to the number of posts and pop in for a quick glance, they like what they see and they may sign up. You might've even been able to alter that RP a bit so it starts with a trio of ragtag mercs that end up recruiting other crew members from other planets as time goes on, maybe making little story arcs out of it and making the RP more organic as a result.
But I digress, my point is that despite success in the past you still occasionally have to give people a glimpse at what you've got going to refresh their memory of why you had such successes to begin with, as well as bolster their confidence in the idea that the RP they're looking at is something really worth joining.
hm... well that rp's original idea was a group of friends banding together not really mercs, hm... frankly if shikaru is still interested in it then i would start up the IC today or tomorrow, when ever would be convenient, i originally wanted at lest 3 people with variety in characters to join, in end only got 2 people, with 1 being similar to my own in terms of personal skills.. well i may just edit my person to go more science than engineering, sense his race is some of the best Engineers and Scientists that exist. at lest in my idea of the universe.
having a nice sci-fi ish rp after so long would be fun. last time i did anything sci-fi was back when i was in a rping group that use to play in rp maps in games such as StarCraft 2. until i introduced them to text base rping which they took to like wild fire because it cuts down prep time and it increased the possibilities. especially sense the maps had a time limit on them before your kicked out which sucked. that and most of the time it was text only anyways and they never realized.
The group was last doing it in Steam's chat system but after last rping session (which was like over a year or two ago now) everyone just stopped with the rp for some reason which was confusing.
I do accept your advice and that probably would help a lot. i do hope i can get either this, or the space rp to work. or maybe both. This one story wise be easier, the space one will take bit more work full story wise. i got some ideas but only to up to one arc atm i will emit. which i actual had an idea of letting people take turns creating arcs throughout the roleplay. in order to give everyone time to play some villains, come up with some cool side storys/missions, and give everyone time to sign.
@Ms Arias Axel lol nice, Cognito is basically the perfect hideout, people who don't like the public, etc... all kinds of people live there, and unless you live there you never know where anything is. which all that is there is homes. and you'll only know your own unless you know a person or two in coginto (which there would technically be 2 people in the council that you would know).
it's glad to see someone interested, i would hope for one or two more to join.
I want to join, but before I post my character sheet I have a question: pertaining to the Race, are you going for something like human, elf Etc. or are you going normal like Hispanic, Caucasian Etc. I haven't read the book and just want to clarify so I can make a proper character sheet.
It's race as in species, if you wish to include Race as in skin if yours is a human then go right ahead, otherwise it's just species because the city is massively diverse making all kinds of things you don't normally se. I have re-read the 3 books in the past like 4 days (1 book a day with a break at the end lol) in order to refresh my memory on some of the world's lore and on some of the cannon characters sense their NPCs in regards to the rp.

are there specific species in the books or are we allowed to create our own?
The books don't specify a lot of species, they name a few with no stated appearances, while only fully stating like 4 with actually appearances.
Humans - They had all kinds, some didn't even look human anymore lol.
Valorion - Silver almost mercuery colored skin, the men can shoot plasma blasts and fly while the women have the ability to shapeshift their bodies (not into creatures or anything, but as like solidify, liquefy, and turning their arms into close range weapons).
Rustov - Main bad guys, they are parasitic machines that turns their hosts basically into Robo-Zombies. they was the #1 power in the universe taking and killing everything until Jack blank cause their defeat.
and another race Calirions or something like that (gotta look at again) - they are a race who doesn't like phyiscal contact, and don't seem to have much in terms of abilities but they calculate EVERYTHING they don't do anything if they don't like the numbers basically.
i'll have the names for the ones i didn't get right later most likely. any other race they mention are more of just names and the names would give slight suggestion to what they may look like.
Superpowers/skills: Seth unlike skill is his way around machines. Seth has an eye for inventing and even though many of his inventions don’t turnout the way he had envisioned them he continues to learn and invent.
History: Seth was born in High Town, but during child birth his mother passed away leaving him and his father alone. His father found it hard to keep track of Seth since he was constantly crawling around the house. Even the robotic nanny had trouble keeping him in one spot. One day he found Seth in the garage staring at his tools. His father owned a small body shop that fixed peoples appliances and other mechanical and robotic equipment. Seth’s father took him back into the house, fearing he would hurt himself.
The next few days his father found him taking apart his toys only to put them back together to near perfect condition. By the time Seth turned 5, he went from disassembling his toys to disassembling house hold appliances. One day his father came home to find the convection oven disassembled and all the parts neatly in place on the floor and his tools neatly placed near the parts. Seth was sitting on the floor staring at the parts and it seemed he was deep in thought. His father watched as Seth began to put the convection oven back together. It took Seth a few tries, but he finally put it back together. His father walked over to Seth and picked up the appliance and checked it over thoroughly. He couldn’t find anything physically wrong with it, but he knew the only way to see if it still worked was to plug it in. He found that Seth not only put it back together beautifully, but it seemed to work much better than before.
By the time he turned ten his father had already taken him to the many scrap yards to get parts for the many ideas he had swimming in his head. His father decided to let Seth use his body shop and tools. His very first invention was what he called an Eye Fly. A sphere-like robot that hovers with metal insect wings, has a robotic eye in the middle, and has six retractable insect legs. The Eye Fly could record, take pictures, and create holograms to play back the images. It was also able to store music and pictures inside its mainframe. It also acted as a portable phone. Seth soon found himself helping his father in his body shop and also creating many types of inventions that were sold to the general public.
His second invention took him over three years to create, but once he was able to fix all the bugs inside it. What he considered his greatest invention was complete. He called it the Tech Watch or T-Watch for short. It looked like a simple watch, but it had a small scanner inside the face. It could scan items and it would make a digital copy inside the watches mainframe. Any data it stored would be shown as a hologram and once selected the watch would gather enough atoms in the air to make a replica of the digitally downloaded item and create it in the real world. Four years ago he had helped his dad move one of his friends to a new home and thought about something that could make the move less of a hassle. Thus the T-Watch was born.
One day, Seth received a letter from the School of Thought. It was an invitation to meet at Hero Square and a date to meet there. he had never been to Hero Square, but None the less he was excited. He had heard stories about the school and wanted to see what knowledge it could give him. In the letter it told of the place and time of the entry exams. It was only a few days away so he needed to gather his things and get ready for the trip. His first stop was the scrap yard. He didn’t know if he would be able to leave the school to gather new material. He wanted to gather anything and everything he might need.
Personality: caring, always thinking, and always willing to give a helping hand
Other: Seth has his T-Watch which has digitally downloaded everything he might need. Inside the watch he has all the scrap metal he got from the scrap yard, the new tool kit his father had given him, and a few of his other inventions he wanted to work on while at the school. He also has his Eye Fly with him that hovers around his body or rests on his shoulder and his Smart Paper.
@Rex i have yet to read this all the way because of a single reason that instantly broke it. as an organic living in Machina isn't really possible.. Machina is literally only a home for Machines such as Androids and etc... there is no comfort, nothing set up for non-sentient machines to live in.
Machina is the home for Sentient Machines, normally Androids, A.I. and similar things. It never explains where they originally came from but that's only stuff that live in that part of the city, the 'beds' are recharging stations and so on. so unless your character is an A.I. or Robot of some kind, then he wont be living there.

ok, I miss read it. sorry, let me change the district. sorry about that.
@Rex Thanks for changing it.. though you may of mess read again lol. Hero 'Square' that is not a living district.... lol. if you looked at the images it should of told you that about hero square.
Try to read about the districts again in more specific.....
Seasonstill Park is simply a park.
Hero Square is like the center piece, City Hall kind of deal.
Machina Home to sentient machines.
Galaxis Home to sci-fi and aliens.
Karateka home to many kinds of things, though heavily influenced by ancient Asian culture.
High town home Mostly (<--- Key word there) to weathly people and buisnesses normally living in apartment type structures.
Varagog Village home of medevial knights, mythical dragons.. and so on.. no real technology/machines can work in here.

ok, it was between Hero Square and High Town. the only issue I'm having is if I chose High Town. will it affect his back story since Seth is a sort of an inventor and good with machines.
Well hero square is not a living district so couldn't live there what so ever.
Also nothing says he can't be an inventor and good with machines in High Town. Smarts the 'Smartest man in the world' is the biggest company person there and he made his company off of inventions he made which he has his mark almost everywhere in the city with branches. i only stated the normal people you see in high-town.

Ok, I changed it to High Town. I'm not sure if I went a little over board with the back story but if need be just tell me what needs to be changed and I'll do it to my best ability.
@Rex well got to fix the Machina line in your backstory, the invitation wouldn't say anything except 'School of Thought Invention Meet in hero square on ??? day' which the would pick Dedication day. a day they honor many heroes who have fallen in the past to defend the city.
I should technically explain the technology that's already around at this point, so you aren't repeating anything really. Most appliances are also made by Smart-corp aka Smarts' company. most of these appliances are super advance. Example: the Dish Washer appliance, literally uses nanobots in the water it sprays out to clean everything that moves through out in mere seconds and perfectly.
Paper isn't used, what's called 'Smart Paper' is whets used. it's a small hologram that is solid, and it acts pretty much like a touch screen computer with the way you interact with it.
Even T.V. is holograms on the wall. Smart had once flying cameras that flew around and kept surveillance on everything, especially anything he didn't like. he even controlled all the Media. though his control has lessened after the books.
Can't remember if it talked much about anything else, but with that as a guide it can easy see how much it would probably affect the other appliances and technology. especially sense they literally have hover trains and vehicles lol.
