Name: Dominions 3-verse
Scale: Demon Controlled Earth, with many alternate realities.
Setting: Dark Heavy fantasy. Low tech level, their highest tech is battering rams, for military tech.
History: The dominions 3-verse is a realm with many different versions, so a definitive version's history can't be decided easily, but the most relevant is the world which the Lanka are from. Once a vibrant world filled with many many different species, until a great war, known as the Ascension wars, waged by pretender gods, creatures seeking to ascend to the throne of god hood, destroyed the world, leaving only Roshan, and the Lanka. Much of the old history of the world was lost in the Ascension Wars, so not much was known about these old kingdoms/
Power Scaling: All super natural abilities, be it from genetics, science, or from magic falls under new categories, and are transformed to magic. These schools are Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Nature, Death, Blood, and Astral Magic.
Divine magics become Astral magic.
Demonic powers become Blood magic.
While lower level magics, such as throwing fire balls, summoning roots to entangle a foe, or creating undead creatures requires little power, other than tiring out the mage, greater spells, such as creating huge explosions, binding greater demons, creating new life, allowing armies to breath under, ect, requires gems, or in the case of Blood Magic, Blood slaves.
Magic gems can be found in places that fit with their specific element/theme. Fire Gems can be found in the remains of bunt out houses, near volcanoes, deserts, ect.
Death Gems can be found in witches huts, graveyards, sites of battles with many deaths, ect.
Blood Slaves are normally Virgin women (sometimes Virgin males work as well, if there are no women) that are killed to fuel blood magics.
If a being of great power seeks to, they can become pretender gods. However, if a pretender god is killed, and no one believes in them, they die for good, revival magics being unable to reclaim their souls from the afterlife. Becoming a Pretender god comes with great power indeed, but at a great risk. If a pretender god does earn a following, and manages to spread their faith, they will find themselves with plenty of magical gems, soldiers, priests, and magi at their disposal. Anything can become a Pretender god, if powerful enough. This includes Dragons, Cyclopes, Demons, Werewolves, Vampires, Monoliths, Undead monsters, and more.
Gods can create Profits, by giving one of their servants this title. Profits channel their gods power better than most anyone, and even those without any magical talent latent can do this.
All things not a pretender god will find themselves most likely draw to services under a Pretender god. This itself can become very useful, as servants of gods will find themselves empowered by their gods. For example, those that follow a god of earth will find themselves far harder to kill, their armor seeming to not bend under the enemies strikes as easily. Water makes one faster, and more agile, death makes one more likely to cause infection with their blades, Blood causes one to heal easier, nature causes one to be driven into an animistic rage, driving fear from them. Fire causes strikes to sear their foes, doing more harm, while Astral seems to protect them from the effects of magic.
In this world, via using up a large amount of Magical Gems, one can make themselves stronger in a school of magic. However, this is insanely costly, and will most likely drain a magical gem treasury for a while, of that school of gem.
