Brooklyn Dodger
Alright. Game on, Brook. You're an absolute maniac. As long as she remembered that, she would excel.
Rolling up the sleeves, the dark-haired girl walked out into a particular section of the field, rolling up her sleeves, feeling her phone and MP3 player bounce inside the central pouch in her hoodie. When she had reached the particular patch she wanted, she turned to face Dante Giordano - and, more specifically, the eight foot tall golem of rock and dirt that he had summoned up for his own System Scan. She was about to reach into her pocket when an idea struck her, and when she did grab her MP3 player, it was only to slip in the right earbud. The spot in her left ear was filled by another set of buds entirely - those in the headphone jack on her phone. Briefly, she maxed the volume on both and then held the home screen.
"Bass boost."The System Scans were about showing off what a student was like at their max potential. Brook was pretty curious herself - a serpentine dragon of a flame jet was cool and all, but what about two? Better yet, if she had the chance, what about
four? Using her thumbs to scroll along a playlist, she finally found the perfect song to match her current mindset.
"MUSIC OF THE SPHERES! MUSICA HUMANA! GOOD
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNING
VIEEEEEEEETNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM~!"And, even as her high-pitched voice held the note, serpents of flame reared from the golem's head and shoulders. Already nearly three feet taller than Brook herself, the added height that her four plumes gave the golem towered above the mage. Undeterred, her teeth split in a wide, if focused smile as she raised both of her music players as though at the head of a fiery symphony. The serpents rose in time with her thin arms, intertwining in the air to form first a heart, then
a stylized W, and finally a mashup of the half-American girl's own initials.
It was in this final, spiky form that Brook felt her voice begin to waver, and knew it was time. Forcing all she had into the
'aaaaa' note, she lowered her arms harshly, as though she wanted to break something over her knee. The serpents matched their conductor's motions, dancing downwards in a spiral directly back to swallow the upper third of the golem. It was here that Brooklyn felt the note give out, and in response the serpents died too. They expelled their flame in two good-sized rings of flame at the golem's top, a couple feet above anyone nearby. Those parts closest to the eye of Brook's stylized glyph remained a little longer, though...and, much to the girl's squealing delight, even set brief, supernatural flame to the golem itself. It was still rock and dirt, so it lasted a second, maybe a second and a half...but for the young magician, who had gone through so much bitchwork to find her groove over the course of her life, it was worthy of a whole birthday party.
"UNGH! Get it!" she cheered, kicking one leg high up in the air and pulling her earbuds out excitedly. The music had been so loud that she could still hear the synchronized hip-hop from the two sets of cords that dangled from her hoodie pocket, and suddenly Brook realized that her own ears were producing a dull ringing.
...
Ow?
...
That made me hungry. The girl grinned bashfully.
