Nakami

"Dante, Wizard, Level 3." Nakami said, his enthusiasm seeming to wane. He glanced at his watch for a moment, then scratched the back of his head. Glancing around, he noticed he still had several people left to test.

"Man, this is taking forever. Well, anybody who hasn't already gone, find a place in the field and go wild, I'll grade you all at once." He sighed and leaned on his beast. what little energy he had had at the beginning seemed to have left him already as he waited.

Aria Fabre

Quickly finishing her toast she quickly looked down in embarrassment at the whole cliche she was probably pulling. Raising her head she had a light blush dusting her cheeks "Ah I am very sorry for not introducing myself my name is Aria Fabre tis be a pleasure to meet your acquaintance." A slight french accent being shown when she spoke in english since it seemed to be a language they were most familiar with. "As for what district I was originally from it was the school gardens tokiwadai to be exact. Still I would rather not let that be a factor in how you treat me." She continued as she let her grip on her violin loosen a small pinch despite everything since if she learned was that tokiwadai usually brought itself a lot of fights for students when they left the school gardens.

Sachiko Tachibana

"Hmmph water may be a bad combination for me but let me tell you something so best listen closely I am fairly strong." She added as a small smirk crossed her face as she let fire ignite in her hands. A water golem was something that was new "always something new and interesting when I deal with you huh you damn troll?" She muttered to herself as she tilted her head left at a punch aimed at her face. "This fire of mine burns bright and shall remain doing so as long as my heart beats in my chest remember that! This life wont be yours for the taking I will show you personally why I am a level 5 in academy city the fire princess now disappear before me!" Sachiko exclaimed as she rushed forward hopping left and right from random attacks.

Sakuya Kawashiro

"A fairly common ability and one easily tested, please step up and grip the faux arm of this machine and from there and from there I believe you people will call it arm wrestling." Sakuya said as she motioned to a nearby table with said faux arm. "Also to speed things up I can test up to three others so please step up except the gemstone I believe you know who you are with your limited "hiccup" ability we know its there but due to the limitation I dont think we need to test your skills."

The British mage gave a faint, almost imperceptible shrug. "I learned a little here and there, but the majority was experimentation. More failed attempts than successful ones, if I am honest. It is nice to now that I am not woefully out of my depth, however."

She gestured towards the teacher, then towards the field. "It seems the Professor has chosen to test the rest at once. I won't keep you from your examination, Mr. Sakamoto. Perhaps we shall talk later."

Shinjiro Karasawa

French/Japanese blonde twintailed elegant young Ojou-sama from Tokiwadai,
he mused, throwing in an obligatory, healthily New York-accented "Like I keep trying to get people to remember, I'm Shinjiro Karasawa." grumble in response to her introduction, throwing in a nod for good measure.

She's gonna be tsundere as fuck, too, I guarantee it with the combo this is turning into.

That'll be great.

"Your English is pretty good." he stated, folding his arms. "And I gotta say, Tokiwadai kids usually love playing up the whole 'I'm of higher status than you' thing; so someone actually asking me to treat them like anybody else, that's a nice change of pace." a smirk of approval wormed its way onto his face.

Never mind the fact that he'd only met two of them total while chasing some purse-snatcher through their turf and causing a ruckus at 11PM.

They were still snobs anyway.

Saya

Everything seemed pretty straight forward and she was already able to go at it immediately. However Saya frowned a little, something so straight forward could measure her power? Well it certainly could measure her strength in one go that was for sure. She gave a small shrug and readied herself. Saya stood before the device and gave a small wave with a kind smile towards the others. She turned around and bended over just slightly so she could lay her left arm onto the table and the other one in the grip of the robotic hand. She frowned at the machine and looked around it to get a better look at the thing.

She waited a few moment for the teacher to be ready and was about to start as the teacher had to give a go sign. Saya smirked and put all her strength in one shot. Her arm rocketed the faux arm to its own side in one go and almost broke the damn thing. A few spark flew from the robotic arm as it didn't seem to be able to pull itself straight up again. She looked over her shoulder with her hand still onto the device "Was that it?" Her face definitly showed some confusion as to how easy the test was. Well she gave it her all and that was the only thing she would be able to do. She let go of the device and lightly rubbed her arm on the spot where she had rested all her power on as she walked over towards the teacher again to hear the results.

Haruka Sakamoto

"Looks like the classes are not that big, I'm sure we will run into one another again soon."

With a wave to the British Sorcoress Haruka made his way over to the testing area. Making his way to the front of the crowd he looked around. It seemed like nobody else had started their demonstration yet.

Perfect, less collateral damage in that case.

Cracking his knuckles the teenager moved out onto the field. He tried to walk confidently, not exactly his strong suit but come on. The entire class was watching him right now. He would never live it down if he messed something up.

Eventually he reached the center of the field, far enough away from everybody else that he was sure no stay spellcasting would hit anybody is he messed up. Haruka let out a breath and clapped his hands together in front of him. Bowing his head he began to speak.

"Lord in Heaven above. King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I, Haruka Sakamoto beseech thee. Take the power vested in me and turn it into a raging fire, a purifying light to strike down those who would do evil and harm your children. Lord burn those before me with your blazing light!"

As he spoke one of his hands had had risen above his head. Now he brought it down, his words ringing with power.

"Feel the Wrath of God!"

A pillar of light burst from the cloudless sky above and slammed down several yards in front of the young mage. There was no gathering of particles or any other warning of it's arrival. It just appeared as if from nowhere. Haruka's mana had been full up before the strike, which meant that this Smite was rather on the large side.

Without a target to burn away the pillar of light began to eat at the ground below it. Dirt and dust were incinerated as the strike went on, a new hole growing and growing until the light cut out as suddenly as it had started.

Haruka almost staggered from the sudden loss of mana. He had been expecting it, the spell was his after all. It was still unpleasant though. Turning away from the building sized hole in the ground he gave a tired smile at the teacher and spoke.

"So How did I do?"

ハットちゃん "Hat-chan"

"Goodbye, Hirasawa Saya," replied the teenaged girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan", waving a hand at her newest acquaintance as the taller girl jogged away for testing. It had been interesting, meeting the excitable Hirasawa Saya, although the constant swinging had loosened the aviator cap fastened around her head somewhat. That was something that needed to be rectified.

She reached out with a pale hand to adjust the straps slightly, brushing away at some of her dyed-blonde hair in the process.

Espers were always such a fascinating group of people to associate with. Life as one would be definitely interesting, although she herself had never partaken in the Power Development Curriculum despite her many years here in Academy City. She had other things to do, after all.

Speaking of Espers, it looked like her first acquaintance was speaking to a girl not too far from her.

"Kara-han," she said in greeting, remembering the boiling Esper's name this time as she approached him.

Man, people were just coming outta the woodwork for him today, weren't they? At this rate he'd be leading his own faction of the student body by the end of the first year. Next in line on his train of thought was, of course, the greeting. Always with the greetings and names...

Kara-han?

...First two syllables right, and then that Kansai accent on toppa that. I'll allow it.

"Hat-chan."
He grunted evenly in response. "Meet the new friends." he said, gesturing to Rebecca and Aria with a casual wave of the hand.

"Hi."

The teenaged girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan" greeted them with a light smile, golden eyes twinkling as she turned her gaze onto the other two girls currently talking to her first acquaintance. It was good to meet new people.

"Lord in Heaven above. King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Aria Fabre

"Ah it's a pleasure to meet you." Aria said as she gave a small bow there was no reason to be mean after all. "If you three would excuse me I will be getting my part of the system scan out of the way." Aria quickly bowed out of the conversation as she stepped up towards the teacher and heard what she had to do basically showcase her ability. Listening to the teacher she quickly took a spot as she bent down real quick and took out her violin the "bloody rose" as it was called. Wising up the bow she started to play it was her system scan but beyond that it was a performance first and foremost for her so she quickly lost herself to the music and closed her eyes as the wind blew her hair as the cherry blossoms flew by her. She quickly increased the volume of the music as she didn't notice they started to dampen the sound as to note hurt the ears of others. Still she didn't care though as she was playing she did not noticed she accidently slipped in her "ghost notes" triggering sadness for people around to hear it.

He looked to the source of the sound that, once again, drowned out poor Hat-chan's actual name.

"Those mages really got a thing for screaming loud-ass chants, huh?" he asked conversationally, turning back to only find Aria volunteering herself up next for the system scan. What, another heat-based ability incoming? He wouldn't be surprised. Would she spit straight fire while violin-ing a dope beat?

I need to stop texting Luke. That kid's whiter than some of the Caucasians I know.

And then the notes just... hit him, man.

Hit him in places you wouldn't believe, man.

"...Yo, Hat-chan." he murmured despondently. "You ever feel like you ain't... goin' anywhere?"

"I need to find another job," was the headwear-garbed teenaged girl's ... seemingly equally-despondent reply. She too, was in range of the eerie melodies that flowed from Aria Fabre's violin playing, but beyond a slight change in her tone, she seemed rather unaffected, her face still schooled into the light, quiet smile from before. The depression that had engulfed her conversation partner, it appeared, had not afflicted her as severely.

Yet she understood. She understood that gaping, yawning chasm of emptiness that was beginning to open up.

It was a familiar one.

"More money would be nice."

Her voice was breezy, quiet, almost a whisper upon the wind.

Another divine spell, with a focus on smiting. Albeit with a slightly longer incantation, a vertical attack vector, and a wider attack diameter... Rebekah had to admit that she was impressed. With any luck she would have the opportunity to compare methods, and determine how Haruka had come to develop the spell. Perhaps find out if it was any more energy efficient than her Queen of Hearts. It seemed very energy intensive, but she wasn't experienced enough with other people's magic to hazard a guess.

Nevertheless, he was worth remembering. She inputted Sakamoto's name, along with some brief information, into a contact entry on her phone with one hand. Adding others would be a good idea, but he was the only one she knew for now. The other boy, the Rank 3, she hadn't caught his name. The Golem-creator was Dante, but that was all she knew.

It seemed getting to know her classmates would be necessary. For now, she was content to continue observing the trials after checking the camera in her home.

Brooklyn Dodger

Alright. Game on, Brook. You're an absolute maniac.

As long as she remembered that, she would excel.

Rolling up the sleeves, the dark-haired girl walked out into a particular section of the field, rolling up her sleeves, feeling her phone and MP3 player bounce inside the central pouch in her hoodie. When she had reached the particular patch she wanted, she turned to face Dante Giordano - and, more specifically, the eight foot tall golem of rock and dirt that he had summoned up for his own System Scan. She was about to reach into her pocket when an idea struck her, and when she did grab her MP3 player, it was only to slip in the right earbud. The spot in her left ear was filled by another set of buds entirely - those in the headphone jack on her phone. Briefly, she maxed the volume on both and then held the home screen.

"Bass boost."

The System Scans were about showing off what a student was like at their max potential. Brook was pretty curious herself - a serpentine dragon of a flame jet was cool and all, but what about two? Better yet, if she had the chance, what about four?

Using her thumbs to scroll along a playlist, she finally found the perfect song to match her current mindset.

"MUSIC OF THE SPHERES! MUSICA HUMANA! GOOD

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNING

VIEEEEEEEETNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM~!
"

And, even as her high-pitched voice held the note, serpents of flame reared from the golem's head and shoulders. Already nearly three feet taller than Brook herself, the added height that her four plumes gave the golem towered above the mage. Undeterred, her teeth split in a wide, if focused smile as she raised both of her music players as though at the head of a fiery symphony. The serpents rose in time with her thin arms, intertwining in the air to form first a heart, then a stylized W, and finally a mashup of the half-American girl's own initials.

It was in this final, spiky form that Brook felt her voice begin to waver, and knew it was time. Forcing all she had into the 'aaaaa' note, she lowered her arms harshly, as though she wanted to break something over her knee. The serpents matched their conductor's motions, dancing downwards in a spiral directly back to swallow the upper third of the golem. It was here that Brooklyn felt the note give out, and in response the serpents died too. They expelled their flame in two good-sized rings of flame at the golem's top, a couple feet above anyone nearby. Those parts closest to the eye of Brook's stylized glyph remained a little longer, though...and, much to the girl's squealing delight, even set brief, supernatural flame to the golem itself. It was still rock and dirt, so it lasted a second, maybe a second and a half...but for the young magician, who had gone through so much bitchwork to find her groove over the course of her life, it was worthy of a whole birthday party.

"UNGH! Get it!" she cheered, kicking one leg high up in the air and pulling her earbuds out excitedly. The music had been so loud that she could still hear the synchronized hip-hop from the two sets of cords that dangled from her hoodie pocket, and suddenly Brook realized that her own ears were producing a dull ringing.

...

Ow?

...

That made me hungry.

The girl grinned bashfully.

Sachiko Tachibana

It has been a few days since the system scan and since than things have been oddly quiet except for maybe the odd burst of uniformed people being sighted within academy city and within "hybrid island" as they started to call the island on which the school sat. Still for Sachiko none of that mattered or to her it didn't as she sat on the roof of the school since she decided to skip class not that it mattered in a few minutes it would end for the day anyway. With a sigh she stood up her twintails blowing to the left as a breeze passed by as she smoothed out her skirt. There was nothing to really do so decided to bother Kawa whats his name he was always a good laugh. So with that in mind she hopped down from where she was sitting and calmly walked down to the first floor since the bell rang so with any luck she should find him by the entrance.

Shinjiro Karasawa

Any prospective needler or nuisance would find Shinjiro lounging in his seat in that oh-so-typically ruffian way-- Feet propped up on his desk, arms folded behind his head, and eyelids closed as he gamed the system, using the last few minutes of free time at the end of the day's final class to get some decompression in. Some relaxation.

Some time for his fuckin' brain to stretch and yawn after a long day of work. S h e e s h.

At the bell's tone, the purple-haired esper calmly swung his legs off the desk and back onto the floor, lifting his bag and heading out with all due haste.

That being a leisurely walk. Sure, school was rough and he preferred not being in class to being in it, but rushing out after a long day'd only serve to make him more tired.

And screw that.

Where there were teenagers, there would be economic opportunity.

That was the lesson that had been drilled into the mind of the teenaged girl known only to her compatriots by the moniker of "Hat-chan" since she had taken her first steps into Academy City. Adolescents, especially those of the student variety, loved to buy things, loved to embrace the best aspects of capitalism and purchase whatever their materialistic desires demanded them to. They had money, so it was obvious that she would be the one providing them with the goods they wanted.

So, that was why the short girl was standing in front of the school gates, aviator cap tightly wedged onto her dyed-blonde hair and a large cardboard box filled with random knick-knacks dangling in front of her. A simple sign had been planted into the soft soil next to her, with almost-illegible kanji scrawled all over its white surface. What she was trying to do was rather vague; was it for a fundraiser, or was it some form of advertisement? Nobody knew, but the one thing they could all agree on, was that Hat-chan was trying to sell off everything in the box she was wearing.

Said box, of course, containing what appeared to be miles upon miles upon miles of Gekota merchandise.

Plushies, mittens, figurines, cellphone straps, underwear ... she had them all!

Nobody asked how she had even come into them, or why she was even selling them, but hey, they were cheap!

Rebekah Cross

At long last, the day was over. All of her papers were tucked into her bag, nestled between her books and her computer. And as soon as the bell rang, she was out the door. Rebekah did genuinely enjoy the classes; the first few days alone had filled in gaps in her knowledge that she'd never been able to figure out by herself. Two days of classes and she already had a laundry list of ideas to test and tweak, seeing if she could refine and improve her own spells. In short, learning really was fun.

She hadn't spoken much with her classmates, though. No need. No time during class, and no reason to between classes. Too busy. Organizing notes, checking on her pet, any other odd or end she was working on at the time. Getting to know her fellow students just fell pretty far down the list of priorities. Mostly the Espers. The mages, especially the ones she met during the System Scan, she spoke to a little. Mostly to get their viewpoints on concepts and ideas, and learn their own ideas. But the Espers just hadn't really been on her radar.

Though, on her way out of the building, she couldn't help but notice one of the students standing in front of the gate. With a box. With a sign she couldn't read. Was she... Selling something out of the box? What was it?

...

"Excuse me," The British Sorceress paused next to the hat-wearing girl, a faintly curious light in her eye. "What are you doing?"

"I am selling Gekota merchandise," was the hat-garbed girl's breezy reply, her usage of archaic Japanese pronouns and Kobe accent immediately evident. "Plushies are five hundred yen, keychains three hundred. Do you want underwear instead? Maybe some mittens?"

Hat-chan, it appeared, was all business, breaking eye contact from Rebekah for a second to exchange a figurine of Pyonko for eight hundred yen with the practiced ease of an experienced salesperson. Her golden eyes were carefree, relaxed, as if selling cheap merchandise was something that one did everyday in front of a school.

"How about a two-for-one-deal with some badges?"

Shinjiro Karasawa

Luckily for Hat-chan, Shinjiro Karasawa was indeed fluent in shitty handwriting.

"Ge...ko...ta." he spelled out with narrowed eyes and a puzzled frown from behind a small group of predominantly female students that had clustered around the nameless young girl's small frame.

Unluckily for Hat-chan, not everyone at the Academy could say the same, as many students simply marched by without sparing her a glance.

However, that wasn't to say she was having a complete dry spell, these customers aside.

Luckily for Hat-chan, those interested in Gekota Merchandise had functioning eyeballs, and were capable of discerning the contents of her wares by giving the wares themselves a momentary glance, and often rushed over.

He drew up to her, coincidentally standing next to one of his classmates, who was receiving a quick rundown of the pricing scheme from the young businesswoman.

That's pretty cheap, he mused.

Unluckily for Hat-chan, Shinjiro Karasawa had no interest in Gekota Merchandise beyond the sheer spectacle of the sight.

"Hat-chan," he stated flatly, his rough and casual Japanese creating a sharp contrast in tonality with her archaic diction as he took in the event that was unfolding before him. "Does the Gekota Franchise seriously have you selling these out here right after school, or is this just somethin' you're doing on your own?"
