[OOC] Superhumans Awaken

A week ago people started waking up with super powers. All of these powers were tied to their most intense desires from the day before. That night they had dreamed about having their powers, the mind's attempt to learn about the new ability it detected, and when they awoke they could do it, though without the emotion to drive it, it was weak.
The day that the first of them started to "awaken" the government started sending out the FBI, NSA and even local SWAT to round them up and take them away, ostensibly for the "protection" of the people. The ones that didn't want to be rounded up fought back, and the government used that to declare them to be "terrorists". According to the media narrative, we are genetic experiments done by various anti-America groups. These "terrorists" started to band together to fight back, but the government merely used that to instill more fear in the people.
There are people who say they are willing to take these "mutants" to safety, but not all of them are trustworthy. Some of them will simply haul you off to the middle of nowhere and enslave you.
The fact that many, if not most of the people that are getting powers are children means that those with powers can't simply rise up and fight, as the children must be protected.
We will have to use our powers to protect these children, at least until we can get them to safety.

Appearance:jack wears a black coat with dark brown hair, his eyes a blue and he wears leather boots.

Power:umbrakinesis
The things he can do are no more dependent on the lights absence than his limits

Ex:(things listed are not all he can do, these are just umbrella terms)

Dawn-Day(umbral strength:Weak)
He could fire shadow bullet
Make darkness
Construct small things from shadow

Dusk(umbral strength:moderate)
He could create make normal sised objects/weapons
Fly

Nightfall(umbral strength:Full power)
He can do all of the above but much easier/stronger
He can create nonsentient allies
Make virtually anything he wishes
He can create sentient animals(not allies, this concerns things like riding horses, shadow Phoenix's or anything rideable)

Basically the light is a universal hindrance for his power, the sunlight is the biggest hindrance that is able to exist, artificial light such as flashlights or lamps, depending on their brightness would also be weaknesses, UV light is a grey area for this weakness, it is somewhere within the boundaries of the sunlight and an especially bright floodlight.

Can you add more detail about the link between Darkness and his desire for revenge? Did he want to hide and ambush them? Did he hope the monsters in the darkness/demons would murder them? etc. Also, what are the limits/strengths/ weaknesses of this power?

Which for of "vengeance"? How do the two things tie together?

Light weakening him makes sense, but what other limits are there to what he can do? Ex: My guy can't move cars with his powers, just people (maybe a motorcycle). I can't put a giant repulsion field around myself, just push one or two things at a time. Destroying things with it can be resisted by armor.

The reasons will work, then, but the powers sound a bit OP. Remember, they just got their powers, and will therefore be far weaker than they can be. I also don't see how "flight" fits in, either.

Having them tied to the time of day works, and I don't have a problem with him getting more/less powerful as the time of day changes, but "He can create nonsentient allies/Make virtually anything he wishes" maybe even the "making mounts" things need to have limits placed on them. Otherwise you could make an army of squirrels, bears, etc, or create balls of shadow that can destroy cities, or a dragon mount.

Darkness is a hard power to balance. The only time I've used it I listed the exact powers I had and what the limits of them were (example: envelop one person in shadow, blind one person temporarily, beams of darkness that can knock people backward, infecting them with Darkness that makes them sick, absorbing darkness for energy(lightens the area and weakens me), create "shadow fog" (very limited area))
