Eagleton High School. A place of prestige. A school of great learning. A place where geniuses are born.

Or so those were the high hopes set by the founders of this institution.

In reality, Eagleton turned out to be just like any other school with every type of kid you could imagine. There were the A+ students, and the jocks, and the computer geeks, and the drama kids, and the social outcasts... Even skater kids and emo children, who were species thought to die out in the 90's. Test scores were average through the school, and uniforms had been a failed experiment - now you saw every type of fashion from studs and tattoos to uggs and Frappuccinos. But more than anything, the teachers were friendly and the kids were happy. Those who did the work would get the education they needed, and that was all that really mattered, in the end.

In spite of that, the campus had still been built extremely classy - with ballrooms and fancy dining halls that glittered. Marble floors stretched through all of the halls of this campus with over four hundred classrooms for an insane variety of clubs and classes, including the general math, science, history, and English. There were 5 buildings on campus, including dorms for people who wanted to attend the school but lived in a different state (considering the grandeur, its reputation preceded it). These buildings were arranged in a circle, that included:

General Classes (Building A)
Art/Performance Classes (Building B)
Sports (Building C & Miles of Sports Fields)
Building/Cooking Classes (Building D)
Dorms (Building E)

And in the middle of campus, there was a sixth building - the Main Hall, which consisted of several dining halls, lounge areas, and an expansive underground library with nearly a hundred private rooms for studying or working. This whole campus was built by a wealthy benefactor who had high hopes of bringing this busy town to its peak... But alas, the town just could not live up to his standards of raising proper children.

The buildings were not wasted, though. With a population of nearly 20,000 students, a regular high school would have been extremely cramped. So for now, mostly because it is a donated public school that is free to attend, these students all live and study in the high life, coming from every walk of life.

Kimmy was one of those lucky students. While the town itself was small, and the reason her parents had moved there, the school was like an entirely different world. There were thousands of different kids roaming the halls when she arrived on her first day, and to be quite frank she felt very intimidated by it all. Just more kids to make fun of her, right? So much for escaping the bustling city... Even so, she had heard about the underground library, and she was very excited to get lost in it.

For now though, she walked down the stone walkway to the front gate of the school, peering up at the Main Hall in front of her. Because of the size of the school, all students were scheduled at different times for a tour of the school, before the welcome back ceremony began in the huge auditorium attached to Building B. Now was her time. Nervously, she twirled her snow white parasol in her delicate hands, letting the shadows dance on the ground around her. She adjusted the lace of he pretty pale blue dress and shifted her small backpack on her shoulder. Well... This is it... Taking a deep breath, she slowly climbed the steps to the large door in front of her and made her way inside.

... Please don't let me throw up...

Sweeping her auburn hair into a high pony tail, Nina used the back of her hand to wipe the sweat off her forehead. Volleyball practices had started before the school year began, making sure the prestige name of the Lion's would be seen at the top of every leader board for sports this upcoming year. "Come on ladies!" the coach encouraged, as they went through the process of bumping, setting, and spiking the ball to one another. "There we go! That's what I like to see!" the coached called once again.

Nina let out a huff, wishing she hadn't have spent the summer drinking and smoking. It was catching up with her during these intense morning sessions. "Alright ladies, that's all for this morning, shower up, and get ready for the start of the school year. Make sure you keep those grades up. Practice again after school." The girls flocked to the locker room and began changing, chit chatting between themselves. Leaning against the locker, Nina let the cold metal press against her flushed cheeks. Her bright hazel eyes, gazing around looking to make sure no one was watching her as she removed her gym clothes.

As hurried as she removed her clothes, she covered herself back up. A bruise traveled up her hip bone to her belly button, resulting from a disagreement with her father about curfews. Nina adorned herself with a pair of fitted jeans, and a maroon sweater. Despite being on the volleyball team, Nina was petite at around 5ft 2. She decided to keep her hair up, her bangs covering her forehead and dark eyebrows.

Yanking her backpack from the gym locker, she threw it over her shoulders, adjusting it on her back before closing and locking it up with the provided padlock. Pulling out her phone she checked her text messages, and the several social media sites she was associated with. Nothing was too exciting this early in the morning, besides the few statuses about the varying emotions of starting a new year. "Lame" Nina grumbled, sliding her phone back into her backpack.

This being Nina's second year attending the school, she knew that the welcome ceremony would be taking place soon enough, but first the mandatory tour. Traveling to the entrance of the school where most of the students were gathered, Nina waited until they would call out when her group would be taking the tour.

It was the first day of school. For others his age, it would most likely just be another day at the school they'd probably been going to for a couple of years. For him, it was going to be a long day of introducing himself to students and going through the process of telling the that, yes he was blind, yes this was his cane, and then someone would likely call out that he looked like an old guy. Then, jokes about that would ensue and...he shook his head decidedly. No. He wasn't going down the dark path of analyzing everything that could happen. That helped nothing.

It didn't help any first impressions he might've hoped to make that a teacher was holding his hand-rather unnecessarily, since he wasn't a child and he'd been blind for nearly all his life thank you very much. Sighing, he contemplated stabbing his cane into the back of their legs and feigning innocence. They kept telling him in a sickly sweet voice that,
"Oh all the students here are wonderful. We have lots of special needs students..." He tuned out at that, shoving in his headphones, afraid that he'd start seeing red-metaphorically of course-and be forced to take things to unnecessary heights. Special needs!? He wasn't special needs, he just couldn't see! Not...that much of a handicap.

Fuming, he almost didn't notice when they stopped and kept walking, only to stop when a hand was flung out in front of him, as if stopping him from running himself over. The wind was knocked out of him slightly, and he resisted the urge to turn and glare at the offending teacher. But, when he took out his headphones, he heard the noise. Kids screaming, greeting each other, likely without the knowledge of exactly how much noise they were making. The teacher's grip was still hard on his arm and he winced slightly, pulling away to adjust the strap of his bag. Pressing the small indented button on his cane, he felt it extend with a click, and tapped the ground experimentally. Hopefully the tour wouldn't take too long. And he hoped to god that the guide didn't take 'special notice' of him. Even if they didn't, with this teacher here, he wouldn't have a chance of going unnoticed.

His practice seemed vicious, but it was methodical, a set series of ferocious kicks and agility punches for cardio put a great deal of strain on his legs. When it became unsafe to train any further, his legs would simply give out. The punching bag consistently emitted muffled thuds that echoed through the empty room. Instead of slowing as fatigue set in, Gideon’s strikes only became more ferocious until he collapsed in a glistening heap with the only sound being his heavy breathing and the quiet hum of the room’s air conditioning. The florescent lighting gave him a headache after workouts, so he simply kept the room as dim as possible. His personal trainer simply stood watching with her brow knit together in concern. His form wasn’t her concern any longer, rather, it was flawless. It was his mental fortitude that always seemed so fragile.
“You’re going to strain yourself if you push too hard too quickly at the end, it’s better to work yourself to the ground slowly. You’re too agitated.” He was promptly reprimanded for his recklessness.
“Sorry” Gideon was too tired to face his instructor, but the side of his face formed sharp dimples.
‘What a bitter smile’ She thought, worry still plaguing her features.
Gideon finally glanced up at her face, reading her expression. He decided to alleviate her stress, she did too much for him already.
“I’ve still got enough left in me for a round or two.” Gideon suggested with a renewed cheeky smile.
“Not a chance champ, in your state, you wouldn’t be able to land a punch.” She laughed.
“That’s not what I meant, V.” Gideon’s grin turned sly.
V’s brow frowned in lack of understanding for a moment before her features contorted in a mixture of embarrassment and appalled surprise. Eventually she let out a mocking laugh that sounded more uncomfortable than condescending.

Her gaze fell to the floor where she noticed specks of blood dispersed across the mat. V clicked her tongue.
“You didn’t wrap your hands again? What will the school think? Your parents are turning in their graves.” Gideon nodded at the lightened atmosphere, completely ignoring her objections.
“I’ll just put a band-aid around the knuckles.”
“Are you retarded?”
“V…”
She clicked her tongue again.
“Just go to school, if you’re late to your first day, you’re grounded.”
Gideon chuckled, “That’s fine, more time to spend with you.” He began to stand with a huff, his hands on his knees, but V swept his legs out from under him with an annoyed expression. He could only groan as he landed with a harsh thud.

Gideon ate while he walked towards the school, his hair was still wet and his simple clothes were slightly disheveled. He had wrappings of linen cloth around both palms so tight that his fingers were beginning to become slightly discolored and every hand movement made him grimace. Moving in the direction of the school without thinking, he had been immersed in his own thoughts until he joined with the majority of the student body. He remembered there being a tour last year, but he was unsure of the school’s current scheduling for introductions and the welcoming ceremony.

Jessica Marie Parker

Jessica entered the school in her small car before parking up in the parking lot. Dressed in a black jumper decorated with diamantes, a pair of pale blue and black pumps. Her hair was neatly curled and she had her usual makeup on. She took her books and bag out before heading into the building. She looked down at her timetable before walking through to Building B where she would be attending Art Class. She was late because she had a dental appointment. That was fine though, she had proof in the form of a letter. Jessica eventually reached the building. She looked at the stick thin auburn haired art teacher. Due to the teacher's appearance Jessica has usually thought of the teacher as a Hippy type. "Sorry miss, I had a dental appointment. Are we getting on with the work from the previous lesson?" Jessica asked the teacher. Miss Hensey inspected the letter before nodding "yes, go take a seat and carry on with the work from yesterday." Miss Hensey told Jessica.

Jessica headed over to where her friends were sitting. They had saved a seat for Jessica. Jessica took her art work from her folder. She had taken a bundle of necklaces, a mirror and some makeup from home. With these items she was currently drawing them and later once she had finished them she would add colour to them using coloured pastels and coloured pencils. She loved Art Class, it mostly was a case of choosing what you wanted to create and as long as it went with the brief then you could do that. Miss Hensey kept everyone right as to whether their chosen items or themes would go with the brief. She also taught them at the same time. Jessica got lost creating the art work whilst chatting away to her friends. Art was one of the few subjects that they weren't told off for having a chat.

Tyler Jacob Henderson

Tyler was in Building C in one of the many Sports rooms. He was in the middle of a Basketball game. He loved Basketball. To Tyler Basketball was one of lifes pleasures. He played in the School team and he was getting on really well with it. It was rumoured that Basketball would be Tyler's meal ticket to College due to the rumour that Tyler would easily earn a scholarship through Basketball. This made Tyler enjoy it even more and want to do his very best in the game. Tyler ran across the room before passing the ball to his team mate, before an opponent got the ball. He ran across to where he could shoot with ease. His team mate threw the ball to him before Tyler scored. The score was now 2-3 with Tyler's team now in the winning. Great, but they still needed to try and score some more goals. Tyler was so enthused in the game that he had no notion for time. Before he knew it the whistle had been blown. The game was over as the students would need to shower before they headed to Lunch.

Erica McKinney

The light started shining through the window of Erica's dorm, casting it's beam across the bed and the dead corpse that laid on it, one leg hanging over one side, an arm over the other. Her eyes fluttered for a moment as she began to wake from the night's slumber just before her phone alarm started to sound it's siren. With a sharp jolt, Erica rolled over and reached for her bedside table, grabbing the phone and desperately shutting off the racket before raising her body up like the zombie that she was.

"It's too early," she groaned, lifting her body up and walking over to the bathroom to have a shower and clean herself up. Living on campus made it easier for Erica as she didn't have to get up as early as some of the other students, but as of lately she had turned into a bit of a night owl during her time off school.

After prepping herself and getting mostly dressed Erica sat on the end of her bed to put on her shoes. A nice new set of white DC shoes that her parents bought her before they left for their work commitments. She wasn't much of a heels girl, but still liked how a set of nice shoes can completely change one's appearance, especially when compared to her old shoes. They were dead. No.. they were deader than dead. Not even a hobo would want a set of shoes with holes in the soles and zip ties for laces. Didn't mater now cause those shoes were in the bin and she had a new set to survive the school year.

Erica left her room, locked the door, and walked down the hallway towards the entrance of Building E, phone in hand. Her new shoes squeaked on the floor surface as she moved and while doing so she was swiping through the messages that she received during the night, reading up from what her friends back home were up to and the various discussions that they were having. "No one is online," she muttered to herself, thinking about the timezone difference and how they all would still be happily in their beds having a good night's rest. Putting her phone away she continued on to the meeting point for when her tour of the school was to begin.

As soon as she was safely inside the building, Kimmy closed her parasol and hooked it onto her backpack, securely. Her eyes squinted as they adjusted to the harsh light of the fluorescent sky above her, but it wasn't near as bad as the sun. Even her special contacts didn't stop the headaches from being outside. That was why she often stayed indoors, and on really bad days wore a light hood to conceal her delicate skin. The world was a scary place, without her shading, but she hated it. Ever since the incidents with the closet, she hated the dark.

Today was a good day, though, so she wouldn't think about it. She felt great, no headaches at all, and her short dress really made her look like a beautiful porcelain doll. Sure, her skin was whiter than the clouds, and sometimes others would mistake her as being sick, but the breeze felt too nice for her to cover it all the time. And if one could get past her pasty skin and snow-white locks and gleaming red eyes, then maybe they might even consider her beautiful, someday.

But again, that wasn't something she was bothering to focus on. Today, she would get to see the library she had only dreamed about. Her parents had really known how happy it would make her to go to this school, in particular... And now she was really here. She had seen so many brochures, yet there was only one picture of the vast library. Even if it wasn't really what others were here for, Kimmy saw the hours she could spend sitting in those comfy chairs and reading a good book. She saw the dim lights that would allow her comfort, and she saw the multitude of information she could absorb and learn about the world she hardly got to see. It was enough to make her spine chill just thinking about it.

Glancing around, she quickly spotted a young man with dark, brown hair holding a sign that said "Group 42A." That's me! Eagerly, she made her way up to him and confirmed that this was her proper group for the tour. Thousands of kids were bustling in this hall, trying to find their group for one of the last tour sessions before the welcome ceremony, and so Kimmy was very thankful that she had even been able to spot her group. As they waited the last five minutes before the start of the tour, she nervously looked at the kids who would be joining them. There was a girl with bright pink hair, a woman with a ponytail, a man with bandages on his hands, and a boy with a cane. Her pale face easily flushed red as her stomach churned. There were so many unique, new people she had never met, before. It was unnerving. Don't throw up... Don't throw up...

Gideon was oblivious to the stares and discerning glances thrown his way. His 6’5” frame made him stand out even among the huge diversity of the populated school, especially for his underclassmen status. His sharp features gave off a sense of athleticism, coupled with his bandaged hands, could only be called intimidating. He had grown used to the weary attention when he stood in his sister’s shadow, likened to a guard dog, thus the sensation of being watched was very familiar to Gideon.

He parted the sea of students with his presence alone and made his way to his tour guide a few minutes early. He recognized a girl from the volleyball team, she had stood out in practice as the shortest when he had passed by through the gymnasium. There was another girl that caught eyes with her pink hair. The color itself naturally drew the eye, but the girl herself was eye catching on her own. Gideon rated the both of them highly in his mind based on appearance alone. As his gaze wandered, his eyes met dead on with somebody else, but somehow, it felt like he was being looked through. After a moment, Gideon realized the boy was blind. Pity slowly rose up in his emotions but he mentally shrugged it off, he assumed the boy got plenty of it already.

Among the students still arriving, a small girl not dissimilar to a porcelain doll joined their group. Anyone could tell without thinking that she was extremely nervous. Although Gideon was always somewhat oblivious, he had a natural tendency to try and alleviate any heavy mood, to the point of being seen as frivolous. Thus, he felt the need to lighten her’s. So simply put, he introduced himself.

“You look like a freshman as well, my name’s Gideon. Yours?”

Erica entered the group of 42A and looked around at the others that had appeared for the tour of the school. There she noticed that only a couple of people were making an attempt to try and talk to others of the group, but she shrugged that off as newbie nerves. It seemed to be the same at every school she had attended, however with this being her first school outside Australia she thought that maybe the people overseas had a different expectation on what to expect on the first days. Oh how wrong she was. Everyone was still as nervous as could be and starting off with small talk topics to test the waters of who would be a possible friend.

The group started to condense together as a man with dark brown hair began to speak, checking off that everyone was here by calling out their names and ticking them off a list. A young pale girl and tall boy were starting to talk and Erica was sure that they would miss their names, but it wasn't something she was to concern herself with as she was only interested in making sure that she was herself here in the right group.

"Ok, Seniors. Erica McKinney?" the man called out, starting off with the older classes before eventually moving on and ending with the freshman years.

"That would be me," she called out, raising her hand to signal that she was present and accounted for. She dropped her hand down and listened in to who the others were and what years they would be in. As it turned out, a fair few in the group would be from the younger years, making Erica one of the older ones in the tour.

That's reassuring, Erica thought sarcastically, wondering what ancient god she must have pissed off to be put into a guide group with a bunch of 'children'. It wasn't a bad thing by any means, it just meant she didn't really have anyone she could connect with easily on an age to age level.

Kimmy was surprised to hear a voice beside her, and without thinking she turned to see where it came from. She was immediately greeted by a damp wall of cloth next to her face, at which she quickly took a timid step back. Rather than a wall, she was greeted by the sight of a man whose chest was at the same level with her eyes. He was tall... Although, she was pretty short, herself. Her eyes quickly flickered up to see the face of this new stranger, who she discovered was actually addressing her. That was strange...

Just to be sure, she took a couple quick glances around before looking back up at him. Most people just stayed away from her, out of fear. Maybe this big guy just didn't have anything to be afraid of... But Kimmy wasn't sure what she should say to him. "Uhm... Hello," She replied timidly, her cheeks once again flushing bright red in stark contrast to her pale skin. "Hahah... It must be obvious. That I'm a freshman, I mean..." A meek, polite smile crossed her small lips. Her quiet, shy voice could barely be heard among all of the talking.

"My name is Kimmy. It's nice to meet you."

Wow... Her first introduction at her new school. Kimmy felt a sort of thrill inside her chest at the thought of it. Normally she would speak with the teacher before anyone... What sort of things did people like to talk about? Oddly enough, the first thing that popped into her mind was vampires. He would just think I am one. I'm pretty hopeless if those stupid rumors are all I can think about, aren't I...? Despite all of this, her bright red eyes looked straight into his, as she tried very hard to not seem nervous or odd. Hopefully it wasn't creeping him out. Maybe she did have a chance at making friends, this year.

Before she could say anything else, though, the tour guide called her name out. She quickly raised her fragile hand in the air to notify him of her presence, and then turned her attention back to Gideon. What a polite stranger. High school was like a whole different world, all right. A small headache built up as she thought about all of this. The first day was always a strain on her body... but she was more than prepared for that.

As the leader of the tour called out her name, Nina raised a small hand in a waving gesture to show herself. "Right here." she stated, flatly. She knew that the tour wasn't required by any means for students that had been attending the school, but often the tour was a chance to get out of other activities- and for that Nina was thankful.

Use her fingertips she swept at her bangs, only for them to fall back into place across her forehead. Gazing around the small group she couldn't help but feel a bit shy. In front of her an older girl; a senior to be exact, was standing proud. Nina could tell by the accent in her voice, that she wasn't from around here and was likely to be a transfer student. To the right of her, two people stood and held: a tall boy and a young pale girl. They chatted nervously, as a small smirk fell across Nina's plump lips. "They'd make a cute couple." she thought to herself, before feeling an object hit the back of her ankle.

"What the fu-" Nina started to say, turning around to be greeted with the face of a teacher, and a student who was clearly blind. A wave of embarrassment swept over the girl, as the teacher gave a hard, cold stare. "Sorry, I didn't see you there." Nina said to both without realizing just what she had said. "I mean, I did see you. I'm not blind, I just-." she rambled, digging her hole deeper and deeper. "You know what? I'll stop right there. Sorry, thanks." she said turning back around, her face now buried in her hands.

As he stood, he couldn't help but listen into conversations going on around him. Confident voices rose with ease, but even they had the familiar quiver of nervousness about them. The hum and buzz of conversations dropped off however, when a louder voice started calling names. The tour group leader? Probably. The teacher was still beside him, unfortunately, and seemed determined to not let him go, as if the slightest loss of contact would mean he'd be whisked away and lost forever in the crowd. He snorted at the thought.

When his name was called, he waved his hand in the air lazily and gave a steady, "Here," before dropping his hand and tapping his hand against his leg in a fast rhythm. He himself wasn't nervous per se, but there was always that apprehension about making a good first impressions and not being a bumbling idiot. At his last school, he'd completely fumbled his introduction, blurted out that he was blind, and promptly walked into his desk. It had not been a good day, and, in his opinion, it had just set him up for failure.

Cringing at the embarrassing memories that had just decided to attack his brain for absolutely no reason at all, he finally started listening again. Still calling names. Sighing, he tried to move away slightly, but got jerked back just as quick, and his cane rapped against someone's leg. He started to apologize as well, only to be cut off by the girl rambling one out as well. She seemed embarrassed by the way her voice shook, and his lips twitched at just how awkward she was.
"No it's fine. It's my fault, my can just slipped for a second." Looking towards where he thought her voice was coming from, he extended his hand. "My name's Nathan. You?"

Gideon nearly chuckled aloud following the hasty glances from Kimmy, although his features didn't change, his eyes were anything but cold and they gave the impression of him smiling. He met her eyes with indifference and replied simply.

"It's nice to meet you too Kimmy."

Silence swept between them for a moment as Gideon gave her a more careful look, noticing the umbrella attached to her backpack but failing to point it out. Although he had never personally seen someone with albinism, he had heard of it and knew the appearance. Although it was impossible not to notice just how pale her skin was or how red her eyes were, Gideon was not bothered in the slightest. He had a tendency to quickly accept even the most ridiculous facts and situations with ease, meeting the small girl was interesting, but not disconcerting. Once Gideon felt he had gleaned what he could, he posed a question to pick up the conversation following his obvious and shameless up and down analysis.

Jessica Marie Parker

Once the class was over Jessica packed away her art supplies. She was very pleased with the progress that she had made in her Art project. She loved Art, no doubt getting the artistic side from her father whom she had been told was incredibly artistic. Jessica had never met her father but she had heard a lot about him through asking her mother what he had been like. Jessica packed up before heading to the Auditorium. She had been asked along with a couple of other students to do a speech about their experience in the school and to welcome them. Thankfully there would be new people. The School was very quiet after a number of students had left. Jessica arrived at the Auditorium and met with the other students who would be doing their speeches later too. She took the neatly folded piece from her bag containing her speech. She was filled with nerves about the fact that soon she would be doing her first public speech in front of a number of people. The seniors who had received the 'honor' to speech would also be given a couple of students who they would mentor during their first few months at the school. She would now also be sharing her classes with some of the new students regardless of whether they were Seniors or not.

Tyler Jacob Henderson

Tyler took a shower in one of the many Gym cubicles. He loved having a shower in school because the jets were very powerful which was relaxing after playing a hard game. He sighed as the jets sprayed hot water onto his skin. It was so relaxing and soothing. Once he had washed with his shower gel and washed his hair he got out of the shower and turned it off he got changed. Dressed in a new basketball shirt, a pair of slightly baggy jeans and a pair of skater trainers he applied gel to his hair messing and spiking it slightly he headed to the Auditorium. Pretty soon Tyler would be doing a speech to the new students. After that he would meet the people that he would be mentoring. So far Tyler had loved this school. It was through this School that Tyler was learning his true potential in Basketball and he couldn't wait to tell the new students just how much potential they would reach being here and just how much fun that they would have. Not that he would mention the partying that goes on outside of the School environment.

Erica McKinney

The group continued their path around the school, looking at the various classrooms and other students that were there. Erica seemed to be spending a bit of time on her mobile, texting various people that she knew as she half paid attention to the guide at the time.

"Now then," called out the guide, stopping them before the Auditorium, "I will be handing out, to those that are being mentored, the names of the students that will be accompanying your for the next couple of months."

He walked around and gave several students an envelope with their name on it. Erica grasped hers and ripped the edge of the paper, sliding out the inside documentation. Looking up for a second, he could see the guide's inexperience as he wasn't sure how to approach Nathan given his apparent condition.

"Just give it to the girl next to him," Erica sighed as she opened up her paperwork to see the name contained. "Jessica Marie Parker?" she murmured, wondering what this student was like in person.

"If you guys don't mind," calling out so he grabbed the attention of the mass "We'll head into the Auditorium now for the welcoming speech and then afterwards I'll be dismissing you to your relevant classes."

It was bad enough that she had called the boy blind, and she felt even worse after turning hearing his voice call out in a friendly tone, "No it's fine. It's my fault, my cane just slipped for a second." Nina's heart sank as she let her hands fall from her face, she started to speak as the boy reached his hand out and promptly touched her bottom. "My name's Nathan. You?" If it had been any other situation, Nina would have turned around and let him have it. However, this was THIS situation and Nina didn't want to cause any bigger of a scene than she had already caused. She took his hand in hers and grasped it gently but firm. "I'm Nina. It's nice to meet you." she smiled, taking in his features glad that he couldn't see the fifty shades of embarrassment she had filling her rounded cheeks.

Quick after their introductions the tour set off on it's way, Nina knew everything the guide was saying but as aforementioned, she would rather be here than in class or pent up in the auditorium. The auditorium they happened to have just stopped in front of. "I will be handing out, to those that are being mentored, the names of the students that will be accompanying your for the next couple of months." Nina sighed, hoping she wouldn't get picked for the task. Just as her though ended, the senior girl spoke up suggesting it be given to her. A scowl crawled across her face as the paper was placed into her hands.

Nathan Stewart

Nina's green eyes widened. Could this be fate playing a cruel and unfortunate joke on her? "I don't think I'm equipp-" Nina began, before being interrupted by the hasty tour guide, dismissing them into the auditorium for the welcoming speech and other announcements that would take place. Nina looked up at Nathan with a bit of worry. "I'm your mentor for the year Nathan, I suppose we should sit next to one another." she finished, wondering if she needed to help him as the teacher aide had during the tour.

As she introduced herself and shook his hand, he made a note of her name and tone of voice, filing it away for future use. Remembering people was certainly harder for him, as he didn't have a face to associate the name with, but instead a voice. She sounded nice, not sickly sweet like some other girls he'd met, but with a sincere and honest tone that he could appreciate. She sounded like she was smiling. It wasn't that odd, you could tell a lot from a persons voice. It was easy to hear if someone was upset, or angry. It changed how the words were said, if the syllables were hard sharp, or soft and wistful.

He heard the guide start talking about mentors and handing out notices. He heard the rustling of paper being passed from hand to hand and he sighed, adjusting his grip on his cane. This happened every time. Sure printing in braille was expensive, but couldn't they have thought ahead? They should know that they'd have a blind student arriving, and at least made a small effort to accommodate him. Another person spoke up before the guide could mess this up as well, and told him to give it to the girl beside him. Nina. He felt a twinge of pity for her, as she probably didn't want to be saddled with a handicapped kid like him, but it was too late. The guide had moved on and they were evidently stuck with each other.

An apologetic look on his face, he shrugged. "Sorry you're stuck with me now. Don't worry, I'm not as high maintenance as that teacher made me seem. All you really need to do is walk beside me to stop me from walking into any crowds. And tell me if the teacher's writing on the board. Also worksheets because I doubt they'll get things printed in braille just for me." He laughed a little, embarrassed. "This is actually making me seem helpless isn't it." Rubbing the back of his hand, he sighed. He hated this. He hated how dependent he had to be, and how, even if he wanted to, he couldn't do things on his own. Schools had special programs for all kinds of learning disabilities, but few could accommodate someone who was blind. There was just so much work that had to be done for someone like him.

Kimmy gave a shy smile as Gideon replied, very politely. He did not seem to be bothered by her in the least. Oddly enough, that actually made her more uncomfortable. Sure, she did communicate with people when she had to, but small talk wasn't exactly something she was good at. Most of the time she would get straight to the point so that she could leave and get away from all of the eyes staring at her. With him though, there wasn't really a "point" to get to... She was honestly just saying hello. Which she had already done. As she stood there quietly, trying to think of what else to say, Kimmy did notice him eyeing her up and down. Something in her heart sunk a little when she noticed this, and her gaze quickly flickered toward the building to her right, avoiding him. Here we go, again...

Great. Another person staring. Was it really so strange to have white hair and red eyes? Sure, the eyes were a bit creepy, but there were days where she thought her hair was even pretty cute, albeit fine and brittle. She had no idea why he was staring at her, though it could be assumed that he was taken aback by her condition, just like everybody else. All she could do was ignore it the same way she did with others. The tour of the school quickly began, and Kimmy decided it was best to continue on in silence. She still couldn't think of anything to talk about, anyway. They weaved in and out of hallways, through the many buildings of the school and around the courtyard multiple times. When all was said and done, they had killed about an hour and a half just wandering campus. Each time they went outside, Kimmy would take out her umbrella and open it up, shielding herself from the harsh rays of the sun. Sometimes it felt like she would live her entire life in the shy sadness of this umbrella's shadow.

As they continued walking though, she heard that same voice speaking, and once again understood that he was speaking to her. Despite looking her up and down before, Gideon was still making conversation. Was this real? Nobody ever talked to her unless they really had to, once they got a good look at her. This guy was very different... A sort of warmth welled up in her chest as she peered at him from under the rim of her umbrella. Well, actually, she couldn't quite see his face; he was very tall, though she couldn't move the umbrella or the shade would move with it. Blushing in embarrassment at her own frail condition, she just stared at the ground as she responded.

"Oh, uhm... Well, just the normal classes. Math, science... Then I thought I'd try drawing and French. A wide smile was spread over her lips at the thought of this. She had always loved museums, and something about these classes made her very excited. She was eager to explore other interests besides reading. Though Kimmy never thought she had much talent at these things, she had made the decision to live for herself rather than letting other students scare her off. It was time to try something new and see what might be enjoyable. "Freshmen didn't really get as many options for electives, but those sounded fun! How... How about you?" She glanced up at him, shyly, as she put away her umbrella. They had entered the building they had started in, and now she figured was her best chance at attempting small talk. It was a weak attempt, but she felt sort of proud that she was having this conversation with him, at all.

As they gathered in that same spot, Kimmy listened to the guide and was quickly given a piece of paper, along with Gideon. Hmm? He's a freshman, too? For some reason, this had surprised her, and she always tried to be one not to judge a book by its cover. As she looked up and down the page, she spotted the name and, understandingly, had no idea who this was. Tyler Henderson, huh...? Immediately, she felt sick to her stomach. Something in her hoped that they would be just as kind as Gideon had been so far, but somehow she felt that they wouldn't be quite so understanding. Looks like that will be when the rumors start... She wanted to hurl, as she already anticipated when her high school life would fall apart. Undoubtedly, it would be quick... and hopefully painless so that she could crawl back into her corner and forget the world, again.

Gideon glanced at the slip of paper in his hand,
“Skylar Grey, huh?” He muttered
He suddenly seemed slightly irritated, but his features didn’t show any change. As for his schedule, he wasn’t entirely certain. He was sure that V had shown him his schedule a week ago, but he put it aside without a second thought. He figured he probably had the core classes like everybody else, but he had left the extracurricular classes to V with the words “Surprise me”...
In retrospect, it was a bad idea, but Gideon failed to garner enough worry to care.
Looking back to Kimmy beside him, he rubbed the back of his neck aimlessly,
“The core classes, probably, and some electives, not really sure.”
He didn’t seem embarrassed by his lack of knowledge of his own classes in the slightest. After a short pause, he shrugs, as if deciding on something while the tour guide begins to lead the younglings to the auditorium, he looked back to Kimmy
“Say, is there a place I can go to get my schedule…?” Another pause, “Ah, sorry, I don’t know why you should know that yet, hopefully, we get put in the same class though!”
Gideon finally smiles, although it’s more of a confident smirk, it’s neither snide nor unkind.

Gideon seemed pretty unenthused when he responded, so Kimmy was unsure of how to reply. Maybe he had just picked some random ones that he didn't care about? It didn't seem like much fun to her, but it might be a good way to try something new. Whatever the case, he seemed to just shrug the topic away, so she nodded and returned to her previously silent state. Man, I'm terrible at this... Her head was starting to hurt really bad at the stress of all this, so she pulled out her umbrella even though they were indoors. Those around her might recognize this as her not feeling well in some physical or emotional way, if they got the chance to know her. It really did help alleviate some of the pressure, and it almost made her feel calmer to hide behind its lacy brim.

At Gideon's question, Kimmy glanced up at him with a shy smile. "A-Actually, I think we're supposed to get them after the welcome ceremony or something," She offered, hoping to be helpful. It was just a rumor she had heard, but she had not gotten her schedule either so they would need to at some point. However, his next statement surprised her and she immediately felt the warmth of blood rushing to her pale cheeks. "You... You want to be in the same class as me?" She gaped at this, having never heard anybody say that before who wasn't a family member. It made her smile inside, and she found herself no longer hiding behind the umbrella as she gazed up at him. Of course, that wasn't the normal response to such a question, but she was curious as to why he would say something like that out of nowhere? Her eyes almost sparkled at the thought of having a friend in class. "I-I hope we do, too!" A wide smile spread across her cheeks. Maybe this year would be different.

"Should we head to the auditorium, then? We can meet our mentors!"
