The Hogwarts grounds are opened once again for another exciting year of school. Filled with magic, light, and happiness. It is going to be another great year. But, even though the grounds are open, does that mean they're safe? In the light, there lurks a great darkness, calling upon many Witches and Wizards, to join the dark forces, and bring something deadly, something powerful. What are they after, who knows. But what everyone does know, is that almost no one can be trusted. Students, teachers, the Ministry.
When the darkness, does call upon you, will you accept it, let it take you in, or will you fight it back, and resist. Hogwarts must be saved, before a great force of evil is awakened, and nothing can be done to stop it. Will you let Hogwarts be crushed in its wake, or stop it from ever happening.
Are you afraid of the Dark? If you aren't, you should be now.
OOC:
In this RP, we would all be first years, coming to Hogwarts for the first time. We would not be using canon characters, as this is a different time period than when HP was in Hogwarts.
A few new changes, are that first years will be allowed on the quidditch team, but will be less likely to make the cut. Also, a trip (or two) too Hogsmead are allowed to first years (if they weren't before)
While I know we all hate them, the RP has to have some rules.
- My Word Is Final
- Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13
- No Godmodding
- A paragraph for me is 5 descriptive sentences
- Put Dumbledore, in bold at the top, or bottom of your CS, so I know you've read the rules :D
- No Powerplaying (unless you have that persons consent
While I know this is a free roleplay, it's a somewhat high-free roleplay, so I want the characters to be more in depth. That and it's because the RP is mainly about the characters, and I'd like to have more depth to them so they aren't so bland, or hard to approach.

Taciturn, collected, and dislikes becoming too excited. Karen, excluding wand-lore, prizes grace and excellence above all things. Young as she is, she has high standards that she holds herself and others to. She is a deep thinker, and prone to confronting another persons beliefs with her own. The idea of perfection drives her, and consequently, she's sometimes blind to her, and others, limits. Karen feels as if she has already found her direction in life - she moves with pride and with purpose, and always strives towards new heights. This was all due to how she was raised, and her subsequent orphaning.
Still, she does have her childish side. She enjoys teasing her classmates, or at the very least, putting them in awkward situations, but avoids going too far, as this is mainly for her enjoyment and not out of any malice. Karen, despite how high she tries to hold herself, is a very lonely little girl inside.
History
Born to a family of pure-bloods with a reputation for adventure and sudden bouts of inspiring insanity, Karen looked around her and saw giants. Each and everyone in her family were accomplished witches and wizards, some notable figures publicly, others choosing to conceal their talents for anonymity. Her parents were a group from the latter - they both were wand makers, and very good ones. However, not once did they ever sell their creations; they spent their whole life on research only, and relied on other sources to produce money.
Their research took them to strange and dangerous places, often times leaving behind Karen to be looked after by relatives. Their research was on the creation of the most powerful wand; a wand that could surpass even the fabled Elder Wand. Their hypothesis was that the skill of the wizard was irrelevant, and the key of the wands power should rely solely on the wand itself. To that end, they believed that to create the most powerful wand, only the best materials should be used during its crafting.
Over the course of ten years, the year after Karen was born, they went travelling around the world, chasing rumors and legends, mythical even by wizarding standards. They went after one mythical monster after the next, only returning home to compile and store their research and prototypes. Eventually, however, their adventuring took them too far and too deep into the mysteries of the world. They were in Africa when they disappeared, the only thing left of their existence was their research, and a packaged that arrived a week before, containing a wand, and addressed to Karen.
Karen, heartbroken at the time, vowed to continue their work, even if it killed her. Though they didn't spend much time with her, they were parents who genuinely loved her - their only mistake was to take a foot into the wrong direction. Their research took them to places where no one could return from, physically and mentally.
Blood Status Pure Blood
Elijah is her friend, and one of two stalwart protectors. He's been with her since she was young, and has always alerted her to dangerous magical activity when nearby.
@Madly33 Accepted, but, They don't seem to live a life that most purebloods live. Most purebloods live in the wizarding world and keep a good reputation, and those who are interested in the muggle world or their artifacts are considered blood traitors. You don't have to change anything, I just wanted to know if that's what you were going for.
Also in the future, can you keep posts like that in the ooc, thanks :)
Also to avoid multiple posts, when your CS gets approved, when you move it to the characters tab, just put it in where your post is.
Crap, sorry I was on my phone -.- It's a really bad model and often when I try to send things on the OOC it goes into the character spot, sorry about that
Crap, sorry I was on my phone -.- It's a really bad model and often when I try to send things on the OOC it goes into the character spot, sorry about that
Don't worry about it
Also where is everyone? If the others don't respond you tomorrow morning I'm gonna do a roll call.
Name: Anna-Jayne Olivia Murphy (a.k.a. Anna. She has been called AJ by her peers before Hogwarts, it's not a nickname she encourages but she not going to stop you from using it)
Age: 11 1/2
Personality: Anna-Jayne is intelligent. caring and extremely determined. She has a very logical mind and thrives on knowledge which she gains through hard work and dedication over natural ability. She has no problem with being herself no matter want position it puts her in and doesn't strive for popularity over a few close friends. She considers herself a realist although sometimes she can come off pessimistic, expecting the worst at times. Very rarely does she share an optimistic side. Anna-Jayne does have a kind heart but she's not afraid to speak her mind or make the occasional sarcastic comment which may lead her into the occasional fight with her peers. She is very protective and loyal toward her friends and loved ones, if you hurt someone close to her in any form she finds it hard to forgive and forget.
History: Being the oldest of 4 kids Anna-Jayne felt she had to grow up quite quickly as her father traveled occasionally for work. Her childhood was particularly interesting. Her mother taught her to read at quite a young age and she had loved books for as long as she could remember. She was often questioning and learning so when she started school she, obviously, had a lot of love for it. She didn't really run into much bullying until she was about 9, when being smart wasn't really cool among her peers anymore.
As time went on her father's travels became more and more frequent and it was lucky if he spent a full week with his family at a time, not including the 3 week break he'd get each year, so Anna-Jayne's grandmother moved in to help her daughter-in-law on the often occasion of her son's absence. Anna-Jayne's relationship with her grandmother only grew. Her grandmother would often tell her stories of her days at Hogwarts which, despite her grandmother often insisting they were truth, Anna-Jayne considered them made up stories until the letter came. Her grandmother proceeded to do anything and everything possible to get her granddaughter ready for her first year.
Blood Status: Strictly speaking she is muggleborn, however her grandmother from her father's side is a witch
Wand: 10 inches, Chestnut, unicorn hair core
Felix was the family cat but only Anna-Jayne was often the one who offered the cat the most care so Felix eventually became dubbed her pet.
Name: Bishop King (aka Shop. He isn't a fan of his nickname, so only certain people can use it.)
Age: 12
Appearance:
Personality: He is very calm in situations where everyone is panicking and doesn't scare easily. His short temper is something to be wary of, his calmly dementor workshop away if you push the right buttons. He tells things like they are, even if it means losing a friend or having a grade drop. He's a pretty laid back person considering the fact that he's easier to anger. He would rather die than be disloyal to anyone, even a complete stranger. He prefers to stay inside and read, but if forced to do something he will do it to the best of his ability.
History: His mother died a few weeks after giving birth to his younger brother. His father had a difficult time paying for the family and ended up marrying a rich widow, who later killed his brother in a car wreck. Upset with his father for not divorcing the woman after she had been sent to prison for murder, he ran away from home at age seven. He avoided heavily populated places, trying desperately to avoid his father, afraid that both parents would hate him and he would have a fate similar to his brother's. He lived off of dumpster scraps and the occasional sqirrel, but never complained about his meal or his hole filled shoes. He was always foraging, whether it was for shoes or a meal. He ended up living in a flipped over train car before receiving his letter at age 12, which made him smile for the first time in years. After receiving the letter he rushed to make sure he had everything. He had what he needed, all but a decent pair of shoes.
Hmm... Could you add a bit more about him after he runs away. Leaving it kind of open ended like that isn't good for someone who wants to know more about your character. Just add a bit more about him getting his letter, and how he was able to pay for all his stuff having ran away from home.
