To highlight the fact that even Zanpakutō spirits have personalities. Though Kenny & Sankontessuo can't see the captain's spirit, they both recognize that it's there and better than Sankontessuo.

I don't think one can recognize someone elses spirit it there, besides the owner of said Zanpakuto. It aint like the Zanpakuto arc where the Spirits all roam around trying to kill their owners.
