[OOC] Avatar - The Age of Winter

You thought the Water Tribes raised people of peace? Nobody would have said that back then.

Long before Aang, the last Airbender. Long before the Fire Nation dominated the world after their capture of the Earth Kingdom. Long before the longest summer seen by the world, there was Winter.

Iluq, a shaman and healer of the Southern Water Tribe, was born with extraordinary talents. Around the world was the hailed for her prowess in and knowledge of bending and the very spirits themselves. She was a close friend and assistant to Avatar Li, a man who literally had a part in shaping the world. She was only a teen when she traveled with him, and became an adult five years later when he met his fate.

Without Li to guide her mind and hold her back, Iluq focused her knowledge on the spirits, a strong flame within her burning to know more. Days and weeks passed, and the more she found out about these strange creatures, the more her sanity continued to slip from her grasp. She cared not. She was surrounded by the wisdom and knowledge of very essence of the world around her, and nothing was going to stop her from discovering it all. Li didn't die from age, he chose to die because he was a coward, was afraid of the power that Iluq had. He was running away from his problems to let the next Avatar face them.

Her progress was furthered upon meeting a spirit in person. It warped her mind, promising her boundless information and power. It told her she was a greater being, just as powerful -if not more so, than the avatar them self.

She took the title as chief of the Southern Tribe with ease, and quickly began to expand the ice. The Southern Tribe rallied behind her, supporting her and helping her in her efforts to cover the earth in ice.

Her first target would be the easiest. The Earth Kingdom could not fight against water, and the Air Nomads would be an easy battle, if they ever decided to actually take action.

The world slowly grew colder, and while Iluq was loosing herself to a spirit's false promises, a young boy with eyes of amber was growing. The boy had just become sixteen when news of the Southern Tribe expanding hit the Fire Nation. The Fire Sages revealed to him his identity as the Avatar, and from then on, he knew he had to stop the growing ice and whoever was pulling Iluq's strings.

But he couldn't do it alone.

hello hello! Welcome to this little thread! Before we get started, I'd like to set a couple of rules in place.

On the Avatar's side, there will be space for only one bender of each element, but non benders have no real limit.
On Iluq's side, Water benders and non benders are unlimited, but if you bend any other element, you need to have a good reason for being on her team.

|In Depth Appearance|
Yue is a small male, standing at just five foot six, and weighing only one hundred fifteen pounds. He has an athletic build, you certainly won't find any fat on this guy, but there's definitely some muscle, including a six pack that he's very proud of. The muscles in his back are also very well defined from swinging around weapons all day. He has chest length, medium brown that he likes to keep tied up and out of face, though there's some darn front pieces that are too short and keep falling out of the ponytail. His eyes are a golden brown color that can look anywhere from gold to orange depending on the lighting. Darkness makes the gold pop out, but fire brings out the orange. He has long, graceful limbs and fingers, as well as pointed facial features.

Yue has three main scars, with some other smaller ones littering his frame. The first scar is his largest, which is a neat line caused by some kind of sword on his back, going all the way from right shoulder to left hip. The second is a burn scar on his lower left leg, the last is a jagged line starting at the corner of his right eye and disappearing into his hair.

Yue was forced to grow up too fast, thus he is an incredibly mature and serious individual. He likes to keep on track of things and doesn't have much time for fun. He can keep a cool head in almost any situation. He's stubborn and feisty, he won't be giving up without a fight. He's observant and sees a lot more than people give him credit for. People assume that he's all brawn and no brain, but that isn't true, he's got a good head on his shoulders and a lot common sense and world experience than most. He doesn't like to talk much, but when he does, you better listen, because its usually important. He's a good listener, but don't ask him for advice, his people skills are pretty much none existent. He's a bit of an adrenaline junkie and loves a good fight or near death situation to get his blood pumping.

Due to being so mature and serious, he can come off as cold or unfriendly, but once you get to know him, he's incredibly loyal and a good friend. Even if the world is going to hell around you, he'll have your back. He's protective and not afraid to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. He's a hint shy and gets nervous when meeting new people, especially if that person happens to be female, he doesn't get the chance to talk to people often, let alone people of the female variety. He's more likely to open up to strong people, males or females, as he absolutely hates the damsel in distress type of person, that doesn't stop him from saving them, but that has something to do with the fact that he hates them.

Fire Nation Capital

|History|
Yue was born in the Fire Nation Capital, to a high ranking member of the army. His father was extremely disappointed when Yue was born without the ability to bend, as it was family tradition for the men of the family to serve as soldiers. Instead Yue began his training in weaponry at a very young age. He was forced to grow up quickly due to this. He was isolated, spending his days as a child training instead of interacting with other kids and playing, causing him to miss out on some very important people skills. By the time he was thirteen, Yue had already mastered seven different weapons, and could pick up about anything and use it effectively, all he was missing was battle experience. But it was at this time that he confronted his father and told the man that he didn't want to train any longer.

The man was furious, and as Yue turned to leave, picked up one of the swords they had been practicing with, and caused the scar on Yue's back. Instinct kicked in and before collapsing, Yue seriously injured his father. His mother found them fifteen minutes later, laying on the floor of the training room, bleeding out. After waiting for months for his wound to fully heal, and spending his time reading, Yue was fully healed. In that time he realized how much he actually enjoyed weaponry and fighting. After apologizing to his father, the man resumed his training.

At sixteen he joined the Fire Nation Army, the youngest in his family to do so. He spent his time bored out of his mind fighting in boring border skirmishes and the like. When the news reached that the Water Tribe was trying to conquer the world, his father gave him a new set of orders. Protect the Avatar.

Yue is a master of any and all things weaponry. He can pick up a weapon and wield it effectively. His favorites are the jian and a wooden staff the same height that he is. Those are the two that he carries around, along with a tessen, or bladed fan. He is physically strong from years of swinging weapons around. He is quick, fast, and agile, which are three completely different things. Quickness is how fast one strikes, fast is the speed at which one moves, and agility is ones ability to move well. These three things give him an almost dance like fighting style.

Yuki has brown hair with brilliant bright Blue eyes. She has fair smooth skin. She stands a proud 5 foot 5 inches tall. She is a petite girl with a beautiful hourglass figure. She is mostly muscle with very little fat on her. One could guess her lack of fat is a result of how much she works out, but in truth, she comes by a meal so rarely she is almost always hungry. She wear cloth clothes to cover as much over her form as possible while giving her total freedom of motion. SHe does wear leather armor to protect her core organs. She likes to wear her hair in a ponytail to keep it out of her way.

Yuki is a natural liar. It is almost easier for her to lie than it is to tell the truth. Fortunately she does trip over her lies only rarely. She likes the thrill of successfully stealing from or scamming the unaware. Obviously, if they were unwilling to better protect their possessions they did not deserve to have them. She is fiercely defensive of her own possessions. She will also protect her friends. She is more likely to treat her friends better than she does herself. At her best, she will never let you down. At her worst, she will probably steal all your coins to by ramon.

|History|
Yuki was born to a poor family in the slums of Ba Sing Se. Even more unfortunately, she was born a girl. Her family was only allowed to have one child, and her parents wanted a boy desperately. In her own home, her presence was merely tolerated. She at a fairly young are needed to act like an adult to survive in the slums with disinterested parents. She fell in and ran with a group of kids who stole, cheated, and used every underhanded trick to try to get a leg up in the slums. She quickly gained a hatred of authorities when she got caught for petty crimes by guards. She spent her time as a petty criminal until one day her friends suggested they pull a major heist in the wealthy part of the City. If it worked, they would all dine like kings. Long story short, it failed. The guards in the wealthy part of town were all earth benders, there was nowhere to run as long as you were in contact with the ground.

This was a turning point in Yuki's life. She saw one of her friends beheaded. She saw two others get their left hands cut off. Yuki was spared but she still took 40 lashes in public square. She was spared severed limbs or death because a wandering sage of some standing spoke for you. Maybe he saw something in her, maybe he had pity for her, or was just lonely. Yuki never conjured the courage to ask him why he spared her. Once released from confinement, The sage took Yuki on as his apprentice. This began Yuki's semi-official exile from Ba Sing Se. She has never returned. She never said good bye to her parents or friends, nor has she ever seen them again. The sage taught Yuki earth bending while dragging her all over the Earth kingdom. After 4 years of study under this sage, Yuki left him to seek her own path and to live her own life.

Yuki is a expert burglar. She is very effective at sneaking, entering and exiting areas undetected, and acquiring things that are not normally sold. She is trained in earth bending, which naturally helps her hid and move unseen. She uses her earth bending very subtly. She can show off but it attracts too much attention when she does. Soro has brown hair to go with brown eyes. His skin has clearly been tanned heavily by the sun and what was once smooth skin has grown rough and course due to years of hard work and training. Standing just under six feet tall with a noticeable amount of muscle bulk, Soro looks like someone who has traveled a fair bit and seen a decent amount of the world; This is largely because he has. Favoring cloth clothing for the lightness and flexibility that it provides him, Soro has also taken to wearing bandages around his hands and somewhat up his wrists in order to protect his knuckles while training and to cover up some of his tattoos.

Soro bares the tattoos of the Northen Air Temple, however the only two that are still visible are the ones that are on the backs of his hands; Neglect and attempts to scrub them off have caused them to fade, but they still remain after several years.

Soro is not what one pictures an air bender to be; While he is generally a rather kind and compassionate person to those he meets, those that anger him by their actions are likely to see the fires of rage that burns darkly in Soro's soul. He will not turn a blind to the those in need of help nor will he ignore such heinous acts such as rape or murder due to a deep seated belief that if he doesn't stand against that sort of thing, no one else will. His eagerness to engage in violence to achieve this goal serves to further distance himself from standard air nomad philosophy, which he holds in deep contempt.

Northern Air Temple

|History|
Born at the Western Air Temple to a Nomad mother, Soro remained with her only until he was old enough to be sent to the Northern Air Temple to start learning the ways of the Air Nomads; He wasn't old enough to know his mothers actual name and has never gone back to the Western Air Temple to see her again. For many years Soro was just another air nomad student, living a free and peaceful existence while learning the thirty-six tiers of airbending, a feat he achieved at the age of fourteen and earning his tattoos to symblise his mastery of the air bending arts.

Two months after being acknowledged as a master of airbending, Soro was part of a group that visited a nearby earth kingdom village in order to see the world and explore it a little. While spending a bit of time near a river that some of the locals fished at, Soro overheard the sounds of screaming and struggle nearby; Deeming that someone was in danger, he went to assist and came across an adult man doing... horrible things to an eight year old girl. Something snapped in Soro's mind at the sight; In a rage, he used his airbending to blast the man away from the small girl, slamming him into a tree hard enough to shatter both it and the man's body, killing him.

Taking the girl back to the village and returning her to her family, he explained what had happened to them. Before the sun was down, Soro was considered a hero by the people of the earth village for saving the girl from a man who was wanted for several such crimes in the past. The Air Nomads saw him as a monster for taking a life, even if it was in defense of another and shunned him as an outcast. Overcome with rage at what he saw as self important hypocrisy on behalf of his former friends and peers, Soro abandoned the air nomad lifestyle in disgust.

Traveling away from his former home, Soro learned how to fight from several teachers during his travels of both the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation, favoring a blade and his limbs over his former staff. Earning money as a bounty hunter, he often got into fights often with criminal elements of both nations.

A trained Air Bender, he largely uses it to increase his speed to be much higher then his size suggests. Since leaving the Air Nomads four years ago, he has dedicated himself to learning how to fight with fist, foot and blade and putting those stills to good use by acting as a bounty hunter. He firmly believes that he could potentially 'sharpen' the wind that he uses while airbending, giving himself a deadly offensive weapon once he figures out how to do it.

I'm not sure if I can do this, but I'd like to try and reserve a water bender. Of course I'll have my CS up today in about 2 hours, so I won't keep ypu waiting for a water bender. If i can't reserve it then I will still have my CS up by today. @pyroman

On the plus side, Soro's the one he has to learn from first; Air Bending is the first thing a Fire Avatar needs to learn.
