Short bio: Kimberly and Conner are childhood friends, as well as rivals to each other. They tended to compete with each other in tests and contests. Conner remained slightly above Kimberly intellectually, but Kimberly was more physically adept. Of course, both were aware that they left everyone else in the dust intellectually, and it came to no surprise to anyone when the two skipped their 7th grade and went straight to 8th. Other than that, though, they lived as normal a life as could be for child geniuses.

One day, however, Kimberly began displaying some annoying and often inconvenient times. They tended to be very minor, though; merely cases of static electricity when touching another person. Kimberly could tell something was off, but she played it off, saying herself that it was annoying when it happened, etc. Of course, Conner quickly noticed that something was off with Kimberly. The two talked it out somewhere private, and it was reasonably deduced that it wasn't something normal. Tests and experiments were performed, but nothing of value was discovered. Still, they continued having the occasional experiment to see if anything could have been found out.

Meanwhile, Conner had always had the feeling that there was something off about him as well. He was never sure what, but the feeling persisted. The best he could do was distract himself from it and hope that whatever gave him that feeling revealed itself or went away.

Some called her 'stuck-up' or 'show-off' because of that, but she stopped caring after some time. As she grew older, Shirley became more beautiful, and at the same time more confident, which made people expect her to take up athletics in college. She didn't; she surprised everyone by taking Criminology*, then going on to become an FBI Agent. It was then that she found out about the Star Children and the [REDACTED], when she was suddenly inducted into Project:Indigo.

As for what is Project:Indigo? Well, you'll have to find out.

Cedric Wessex was born to ordinary parents, but from a young age, made his high intelligence clear, showing proficiency in a wide variety of subjects, but most of all, music. He was able to master every musical instrument he touched, to high, even sometimes suspicious levels. However, his true love was literature, as well as history, and, sometimes, he felt himself 'trapped' by his musical talents, because he felt that they locked him to one course in life. Not merely that, but he was also concerned that his proficiency with instruments not only extended to musical ones, but with whatever tool he held, as he discovered whenever he accidentally handled one of the Janitor's corkscrews.

And, of course, his talent at the computer was no coincidence...

Name: West Scarborough

Appearance:

To best describe him in one word: barren. West has dark, dishevelled hair occasionally pulled back with an elastic but usually left to spin in ringlets in whatever direction. His face was like a sandstorm that covered his skin in nicks and scars, and left a buzzed Velcro beard dusting his long chin. His eyes are weighted and brown with thick dark rings under them making his caffeine addiction apparent on his tanned skin, though some argue that it was just dirt that never washed away. Even his rough nails and the uneven callouses on his hands reminded people of old wood.

He looks out-of-place at the best of times. He was a battered lone wolf whose punishment was apparent through the messed up dried hairs and the spindly, skinny form. Everything else about his appearance was compensation. A dark beanie or bandana or wide-rimmed hat hides his hair at the best of times, and he wears a pair of square black-rim glasses consistently across the bridge of his flat nose. Usually he is dressed in a collared shirt and tie, or better; dark, polished shoes; and a long blue coat as a sort of trade-mark. But his outfit appears as overcompensation, and it could never hide his waxy, broken complexion or his zombie eyes. His grin is duller than a butter knife, and his motion is always “off-kilter” like a piano that’s off-tune.

Power: West has no power, but his research is impeccable. He’s one of the best trackers in the business with an ability to follow trails that some argue could surpass a blood hound. He isn’t the best in a physical bout. His proficiency lies in his ability to sneak up and trap people, or get them cornered before they realize it’s too late. His speciality is always capture and kidnapping as he is not a huge fan of blood – but he’s been known to resort to violent measures if demanded, or absolutely necessary. It was always fun playing with electric wires, and usually a bullet won’t spill too much if he doesn’t look.

It really is a job for him, and he’ll do things that make him uncomfortable for it.

Short bio: At one point in his spin around this planet, West was an excited student graduating from his field in Antiquities and Archaeology (With a minor in Criminology) and a great desire to travel the world and to make a name for himself.

He got about halfway there. If he were being honest with himself, he may have jumped the gun a little too quickly. Being promised an early internship at a museum overseas, he quickly dropped his old life behind and pursued his new dream. He didn’t have many friends or family to report to anyhow.

That job, unfortunately; it fell through. West found himself with no income, nowhere to go, and deportation looming over his shoulder as his work visa became set to expire. That was when one of his mentors approached him. One of the shadier fellows from the museum who’d always been impressed with his ability to connect stories and tail people.

That led to a trail of ransom jobs to which he’d never been connected. Choosing instead to go by “The Coyote” through his criminal channels did a decent job of hiding his identity. Besides, he usually wasn’t the one getting his hands dirty. It was just a matter of finding out people’s paths and cornering them, capturing them, then bringing them in before the group would get paid a ton of money, and they would be let go. The plan was to do it to stay on his feet, just to get him enough to get started somewhere else and keep the job going.

Unfortunately, the criminal world is a slippery slope. Before long, West was doing his own jobs involving less-than-okay interrogations with shock batons and other tools as his teams started requesting more and more of him. He couldn’t say no to that money.

It was after one major job that deportation finally found him – him being “West Scarborough” and not “The Coyote”. He was taken from the country and the rumour was spread that the Coyote had been put down, even if that wasn’t the case.

But with all the money coming in, he still couldn’t stop. Kidnapping was his specialty, tracking people – a hobby. The Coyote became Big Brother due to his astonishing accuracy in tracking and trapping. It almost felt like he’d read your thoughts because he looked into you so well. Certain people were willing to pay tons of money for the right heads on the right platters, or the right rich kid in the right villain’s paws. Archaeology faded in to fanaticism and paranoia.

He doesn’t sleep much, barely looks like he’s keeping himself together. He knows how much he’s changed, and he hates it.

He just doesn’t know how to stop.

So when one of the bigger gangs in the country messaged Big Brother, searching for these “Star Children”, with a promise of more than money, West decided that this could be his last job. One “crossover” event: his love of discovery and Mythology with his skill in capture, torture, and entrapment.

Maybe then he could be home free.

Emma Rocha

Emma is a youthful girl with soft white skin. Her head is framed by a cascade of long and straight blonde hair that reaches down to the small of her back. She has a small frame, standing at a rather average 5'3". Emma has a heart-shaped face adorned with light green eyes, completed by a small upturned nose. Emma is pretty, but almost always appears far too tired for the amount she sleeps, her face marked by heavy bags beneath her eyes.

Power: Umbrakenisis. A self-coined term for ability to control shadows. As of now her abilities aren't particularly useful- she can sap away light and propagate darkness, then manipulate that darkness. Given time she may very well develop the ability to give form to darkness, turning it to a solid object, and then controlling it.

Biography: Emma's condition might best be described as 'Chronic Apathy'. One might look at Emma and wonder how she could possibly have subsisted for so long. She seems to spend most of her time sleeping and the word 'initiative' seems to have escaped her vocabulary. She rarely puts a great amount of effort into anything, greatly preferring to put anything off to the last possible second. One might looks at her and draw the conclusion that she wasn't particularly intelligent. That, however, would be wrong.

Emma was born into a position of affluence, the only child of a pair of successful industrial magnates. It was later agreed by both of her parents that their child was a supreme disappointment and a huge mistake, so they never conceived again. Early in their daughter's life her parents thought they were blessed with an incredibly intelligent child, but it was not until she began school that they found out that this was not the case. Emma saw little point in schooling, having been handed everything she had wanted. She simply didn't think it mattered, since it didn't, and quickly found herself with failing grades. She would always get whatever she asked for, wouldn't she? After being expelled from her first school she found herself bouncing around several affluent academies, finding little success in any of them.

When she finished her mandatory schooling Emma's parents found that no college would take her, and that Emma would take no college. Emma was now effectively NEET. After that she spent all her time lazing around, not motivated to find a job or get back into school, as her parents were not motivated to motivate her. To them she was nothing more than a failure, and they let her do what she wanted. Emma didn't have to worry about money- her parents took care of that and servants prepared her meals, so she spent the next several years doing nothing of particular importance. She went outside sometimes, and did take care of herself to a minimal degree, but for all intents and purposes she had dropped off the face of the earth.

That, perhaps, might have continued if it wasn't for the powers Emma began to develop. Emma became lucid of her growing powers, and it didn't take long for one of her maids to notice her playing with the darkness. Soon enough her parent's would discover her latent abilities after firing one too many maids that reported the same unbelievable story, and soon enough Emma's parents decided that Emma had no place within their household. She was promptly sent away to college against her will.

Despite her glaring shortcomings Emma is a kind person. She is, in fact, quite friendly when she is in the mood for it. That is, as long as she isn't being 'bothered' by other people, and is instead the one looking for social contact. Indeed, when not found napping Emma is quite the charming young women, and is fairly eager to make friends... on her own terms. To those she can call a friend, Emma is quite loyal, and might actually be persuaded to 'try' when it comes to helping them.

Standing at 4’7, Celeste is a very petite and slender girl. She weighs around 95 lbs and isn’t very strong. Her hair falls well past her waist in a tumble of colorful curls. Celeste's physique could be described as slender and even so far as calling it petite.

Clothing Style:
Her clothes themselves mostly consist of sweaters that are a size too big and a mixture of pants, leggings, and skirts. She has a few tank tops and shirts with colorful designs and she tends to mix-and-match her outfits even if the colors clash. She has a few shoes though her favorite are a pair of paint-splattered converse that she tends to wear even if it doesn’t go with her chosen outfit.

Celeste is normally described as a kind and caring individual. She tends to put others needs before her own and won't hesitate to help someone if she feels they are in need of assistance. She also has her shy moments where she tends to look at the ground and not really talk to anyone. She gets nervous when meeting new people and doesn't speak much until she gets to know them better. Despite all of this, Celeste has a stubborn streak and will not budge if she sets her mind to something. She's not one to anger easily but once she is watch out because she can have quite the temper and is not afraid to give you a piece of her mind. Of course, afterwards she will be completely mortified by what she said and will apologize profusely to the person she grew angered at. If she thinks they deserve it that is. If she feels you completely had what was coming to you, not one word of apology will leave her lips though secretly she will still feel rather bad about it. Another trait of Celeste's is that she has a bad habit of bottling up her problems so the people around her will not worry. Even if she is having the worst day imaginable she will still put on a smile and say everything is fine.

Background:
Growing up, Celeste never knew her real father, the man having left when he discovered Celeste's mother was pregnant. When her mother's parents found she was pregnant at just 18, they disowned her and therefore it was up to her to raise Celeste all on her own. As Celeste grew older, she vowed she would protect her mother. However, despite her best efforts, when a man came along expressing interest in her mother Celeste was unable to do anything. The man, John he was called, had a steady job and seemed like a nice guy. Celeste's mother fell right into his lap. However, after they got married just a few months after meeting, John's true colors began to show.

No longer was he the smiling man who offered to take Celeste out for ice cream. Instead he wasted all their money on alcohol and ordered Celeste's mother around. This soon began to have an effect on her mother and soon their night-time readings drew to a close. Her mother smiled less and laughed even sparingly. Her mother would grow angry whenever Celeste would mention maybe leaving John and she didn't even bat an eye when John grew violent and took to abusing Celeste, both physically and mentally. Soon after that Celeste stopped talking and grew panicked if anyone tried to force her to talk. Every night Celeste prayed it was all a bad dream and it would all go away.

When Celeste turned nine everything changed. She had been at the park when a boy around her age came up and started talking to her. His name was Oberon. He didn't comment on the fact she didn't talk nor did he try to make her. He just jabbered on and on and the next day when she was once again sitting on the swings in the park the boy showed up, this time with a pad and a pencil so she could talk with him. Over the years the two became fast friends and he would patch her up when John fell into one of his drunken rages. When Celeste's powers began developing, Oberon didn't freak out and run away. Instead he told her how cool it was and offered to help her figure out how her power worked. They ran little tests, Oberon coming up with a lie and seeing if she could detect it. He became her anchor when there was no one else. They went to the same middle school however when Celeste showed a higher intelligence than her peers and skipped grades she feared she and Oberon would grow apart.

Thankfully that wasn't the case and even when she was leagues ahead of him in school he still remained faithfully by her side.

Alexandria Kinsley

Name: Alexandria (Lexi) Jane Kinsley
Appearance:
Considering the fact that Lexi barely reaches 4'2” and that she weighs a measly 60 lbs, it's relatively clear that she's not going to be able to throw her weight around effectively in any kind of combat situation. It's also quite clear from her lack of any sort of defined musculature that she's certainly not going to have any kind of natural power to anything she tries to do to hurt someone.

Afflicted with albinism, Lexi's appearance can be quite... disconcerting at first, what with her bright red eyes, ghostly pale skin, and her snow white, shoulder-length hair. She usually leaves her hair down, as she just can't really be bothered to do more than just run a brush/comb through it when she gets up. Lexi’s typical attire consists of denim jeans or shorts and regular t-shirts without graphics, as she finds them to be rather irritating on her skin. Additionally, she typically just wears regular sneakers.

Short bio: Lexi was born on February 29th as the youngest of four to the locally-renowned Kinsley family. Despite the fact that her family was quite well-off, growing up was rather difficult for Lexi. This difficulty was essentially due to the fact that Lexi always felt like the black sheep of the family due to the fact that her siblings were triplets born a whole six years ahead of her and the fact that she was freakishly intelligent, which became apparent very early on in her childhood because she and her siblings were home-schooled, allowing her to graduate at the tender age of twelve.

The feeling of isolation she felt was only compounded by the fact that Lexi has synesthesia, or confusion of the senses, which is a condition in which certain stimuli can trigger other senses, like a musical note corresponding to a specific color. Even though she knows it’s not normal, she’s rather grateful for the condition, as the sensations are virtually always pleasant and helpful in her music and art.

As Lexi grew up, she became better able to accept the fact that she was different than her family. She was even able to accept it as more or less a part of herself when her powers manifested the year before when she was trying to reach something on the counter and it just moved into her hand, practicing with them occasionally since.

Unfortunately, the confidence that she had developed in her identity was shaken a bit when she began taking classes at the community college, as most of the other students weren’t too thrilled to know that a middle-schooler was taking the same classes that they were and excelling with no difficulty. Because of this, they had a tendency to be rude and hurtful to the young girl every time she tried to socialize with them, the end result being a decreased willingness to take the initiative to try and get to know others.

Though it was only six in the morning on a Saturday, Lexi was wide awake at the easel in the basement of her house, which just so happened to be her room as well. Incidentally, it had been her choice to move into the basement, which had been used primarily as a playroom when she and her siblings were younger, as it offered more room and solitude than her previous room had. It was also just an all-around better arrangement, as it meant that her three older brothers could each have their own room instead of being divided among two as they had been. That had ultimately been the argument that won her parents over to the idea. She had even been able to convince them to let her sell all of the old toys that had been collecting dust to raise up some of the money to redecorate the two rooms.

Tom, the brother that had gotten her old room, had decorated it in the same vein as her other two brothers’ rooms were, though with a greater emphasis on sports paraphernalia and the color green. Lexi had chosen to have the walls painted purple with pink flower and heart decals dispersed periodically, emphasized by the fluffy pink carpet that was currently peeking between her toes. The furniture, having been touched up with a fresh coat of paint upon being moved into her new room, tied things together nicely, being primarily white in color with pink and/or purple accents.

Currently, Lexi was painting a new landscape based on a photo of their family vacation the year before as a way of practicing strokes, shading, and other painting techniques. Classical music played softly on her laptop across the room, helping her to focus on the task at hand while enjoying the gentle swirls of color and the sensations that rippled across her skin that, at least to her senses, accompanied the melody. Interestingly enough, the colors and touches that Lexi experienced when listening to music didn’t actually make it any harder for her to paint, though she wouldn’t be able to explain why for the life of her. The way she processed things had become something upon which Lexi tried not to dwell too much.

When the piece of music playing on her laptop at the time ended, Lexi decided that would be a good time to take a break, setting her palette and brush aside as she stood and stretched. Confident that she was alone, and that she would be undisturbed for several more hours, Lexi extended her hand towards the mug of hot tea on the stand near the easel and focused. As the cup lifted into the air and shakily made its way toward her, Lexi allowed herself to smile at the progress she had made with her… ability.

Needless to say, it had terrified her when it first manifested, but she had since grown to enjoy it and made liberal use of it, at least in private. There was no telling what would happen to her if anyone found out about it, and she wasn’t really willing to take that risk by using it in public. She’d probably end up in a government lab somewhere where she’d be dissected and studied. Shuddering at the thought of being near any kind of sharp medical instrument, Lexi took a sip of her tea, enjoying the warmth that radiated from her tummy.

Allowing the mug to drift back to the stand it had come from, Lexi sat back down at her easel and got back to painting, her tongue sticking out slightly as she compared what she had made thus far with the photograph clipped to the top of the canvas, making a few minor adjustments here and there to make the two match up better as she went, and occasionally humming along with the music that was still playing on her laptop.

Short bio: Lotus was born to a family of law enforcement. Her father was a cop, her grandfather was a cop, and his father was a cop. From the time she was born, all she ever wanted to be was a cop. Her wish came true when she graduated top of her class at the police academy. She loved the experience of chasing criminals, relished in the idea of justice, and lived for the satisfaction of knowing it was her hand that put them there. Soon after her 23th birthday, Lotus met a man she would quickly fall in love with and marry.

Josh was everything she longed for in a soul mate. He was kind and passionate and loved her deeply. One night, Lotus received a call of a homicide within the vicinity of her home. When she arrived, she found her neighbor dead and her husband covered in burns. The only words he managed were “star child” before he died. Lotus was distraught. She pursued this phrase “star child” with every resource she had available to her.

Two months later, the chief of police called her into his office after a particularly exhausting day. Two government agents waited there for Lotus. They told her they had been tracking her star child research and asked if she was interested in finding these children for their organization, as a permanent job. She immediately jumped aboard.

Short bio: Winston was born and raised in the slums of Chicago. His father, who was involved in the mob, was shot dead in a shoot-out when Winston was 14, and Winston's mother remarried. Her new husband hated Winston, and, to please him, Winston's mother kicked Winston out when he was 17. After being homeless for a year, Winston got a cheap apartment and joined the police force. Due to his brutal idea of enforcing the law, which involved beating criminals senseless, Winston was fired when he was 31. It was around this time that he heard about the star children, and how bounty hunters were capturing them and giving them to the government.
Winston got some guns and became a bounty hunter, becoming famous for his trademark pistol.

Power: Voluntary mind reading. She has the ability to see into someone's thoughts and dreams if she has permission from that person. If permission is denied during a session of reading, she will become weak because her power was wasted and it takes at least an hour to get the energy back for another session. The higher the intelligence of the person she is trying to read, the more difficult it will be for her to read and therefore, requires more power on her part. If the person she is reading is close to her heart and she cares about them deeply, she can save their thoughts and memories into her own and access them whenever she wants as if they were her own.

Short bio: She gets extremely frustrated with the stupidity of others around her and only associates with others that are as intelligent as her or more. Is kind of a loner but if you're her friend and know her well, she is very outgoing, honest and opinionated. She has never been with her real parents and has never even met her father. her mother is a complete fuck up and abandoned her when she was born. As a result, she was badly abused for 2 years until her grandparents got custody of her. She hates the town she lives in because the people are so closed-minded and dumb. She does not fit in anywhere and sticks out wherever she goes. Her best friend is a boy named Anthony who she goes everywhere with. he is just as smart as her and accepts her for who she is.
