"I'd like to come, but I've got to go home and change first. I'm loaded down with goods and coins in this blue vest of mine" Arjun replied. He felt around his many pockets, feeling the jingle of coins and the bits of silver and copper ore he had brought with him to trade.

Ash glanced at Arjun, then back at the other. "I need to check on my sister, if she's fine I'll join you." He didn't mention that it was likely that his sister would want him to stay. She didn't like being alone for very long, but she also didn't like being with people for very long. Ash could never predict her mood, not since their dad had passed.

"It'll be perfectly safe. Come on, that was years ago. Or was it months. Or was it weeks. Nevermind, I think Arjun forgave me for that, right buddy? The shaman's hut wasn't so bad, right?"

"About five days, actually" Arjun replied. "I'll be right back." He ran off to his home. Like all of the other kobold dwellings in this cavern, he lived in a cave which had been assigned to him by the chief. The cave had been reinforced with a door, but was otherwise just a cave. Arjun took off his vest, sighing with relief that the weight was off his shoulders. He grabbed a little sleeveless vest and put it on. Apart from his loincloth, the large vest, shorts, and this light sleeveless vest were his only clothes, and he had the shorts on right now. Within a minute, he ran back to the others.

"Okay, I'm back."

Concern danced across Ash's face, but he replaced it with a smile. "If I'm not back in five, go on." With that he moved quickly through the tunnels to the cave he and his sister shared. It had been assigned to their parents, but when his dad passed, the assignment passed to Ash. He was greatful he and his sister hadn't been forced to move.

He quietly walked in, moving to check on his sister. For once she was asleep. He could tell she was exhausted, since she hadn't bothered to change or to even pull a blanket over herself. He quickly covered her and scribbled a note in case she woke up, then left, heading back to the others. Arjun had already returned, but he knew that he hadn't passed his five minutes. "I'm ready."

"Alright, let's go." He began strolling to the mouth of the cave, gesturing for the others to follow, while holding his book open with the other hand. He walks out of the cave, and picks a nice, flat spot with plenty of rocks. Then, he begins to wave his hand around, while muttering the words of the ancient Titans. "Septere ordo: Terra!" he shouted. A thick, humanoid figure rose out of the ground, roughly the height of Kutur himself, covered in dirt and rocks.

"Well, a kobold-sized elemental. Pretty good so far. But can you control this one?" Arjun kept his dagger at his side, but it made him nervous. The small knife would do very little damage against such a tough creature.

"Sure I can, watch: Pick up that rock." Commands Kutur. The elemental doesn't move. "hmmm" mutters Kutur, flipping franticly through the book. "Oh, right. The key word. Ok. Setra: pick up that rock" he commands again. This time, the elemental obediently walks over to a large stone sitting a few yards away and lifts it.

"Very good! Just... er... how long does your control last for, Kutur?" Arjun wondered.

Ash watched the others, still concerned by Arjun's words. It wasn't reassuring when he was asking if this one could be controlled. He casually slid back a bit, so he was behind Arjun, though he didn't want to compromise his position for viewing what was happening.

"No idea. The shamans said that most elementals stick to their summoners forever, acting as guards and servants, and grow in power as the spirit of the master increases. Just you wait! This guy will eventually be huge! You know, as long as I water it twice a week or something."

Arjun sat on a rock. He tried to relax and he examined the claws on his right hand. "Looks good so far. I hope it isn't too hard to control."

"Nah, it'll be fine. Hey, it seems to be evening, now," Kutur said as he measured the sun, tilting his head to the side. "Let's get back to the cave and get some fresh bread. I'm hungry."

"What will happen to the elemental?" Arjun asked. "And I have some fresh bread imported from the surface."

"I suppose it's just . . . there," Kutur replies. "It'll be around for awhile (that meaning as long as I'm alive). If you ignore it, it isn't too much bother. So off we go, then. Food awaits."

Arjun led them to his home. The elemental kept following them, which unnerved the kobold somewhat. He opened the door which was on his cave and stepped inside. His "house", if you could call it that, had a little table, some mats for sleeping, and a small chest for clothing as well as a cabinet for storing food. He took off his vest and shorts, changing into his loincloth. Then, the kobold got the bread out.

"Is it possible to dismiss the elemental if you don't want it around?" he asked Kutur.

Kutur turned his head quickly from the bread to Arjun. "I suppose so. Setra, stand outside," he commanded. The elemental waddled until it was outside the cave, and stood facing away from the inhabitants inside. "Close enough? I can't figure out how to dismiss it from our realm, so this will have to do. I should have an answer by tomorrow."

"That's fine. Setra, you call him? It?" Arjun said, handing a piece of bread to Kutur. "So, do you think the mines still need workers? I've got to get to work again soon. Possibly as early as tomorrow."

"Setra. It only responds to Setra. In the Titan speech, it means earth, but then again, in the Titan speech they have a trillion synonyms for everything," Kutur said through a mouthful of bread. "Also, the numbers came in awhile ago. The mines get deeper, and as they get deeper, the death count goes proportionally upwards. So yes, the mines need workers. They always need workers."

"Alright! Sounds good" Arjun replied, stretching out. "So, do you know any other spells?" He knew that Kutur did, but wanted to give him a chance to explain them himself.
