[IC] Kobold Roleplay (Open!)

"Relax, I know what I'm doing. I've been as far north as Darg, you know?" Kutur said lightheartedly. Unfortunately, that was only a technicality. He went roughly 2 miles into the cold Dargan wastes, then gave up and turned around, grumbling about how a few scrolls wasn't worth it.

[Aristocles]

"Alright. Just lead the way" Arjun replied, sighing. "Hopefully, we will find a nice, warm inn before too long."

Kutur pointed in an arbitrary direction, the snow all seeming to merge into one flaky monster in his head. "Let's go that way," he announced. Slowly, he picked up his feet, and trudged, and trudged, and then the ground under him seemed to collapse inwards, as if the world was swallowing him. "OH HOLY-" he managed to get out before all of him dropped into the ravine. In desperation, he flailed about and by sheer luck, caught onto a ridge. But he can't hang there forever, especially due to his eschewing of physical work in favor of mental exercise.

[Aristocles]

Arjun ran over and reached down, grabbing Kutur. "Just- hold on!" Arjun replied, digging in his toe claws into the cold soil. Pulling as hard as he could, the kobold managed to get his friend up from the ravine, moving slowly but surely. A few moments later, they were both up on the snowy ground again.

"Are you okay?" Arjun gasped, wiping some snow off of his arms and legs.

"Yeah . . . I'm . . . whooh," Kutur gasped, attempting to suck in more air than his tiny lungs could hold. "Nevermind . . . about that . . . way," he joked, grinning despite the danger.

[Aristocles]

"Let's just get back on track... when my lungs stop trying to secede from my chest." Arjun

"Alright, we'll go that way," Kutur pointed in a different direction, this time there was a road in site. It wasn't a real established pathway, but it was most certainly walked upon very often, due to the very compact snow acting as the road. Then he wondered why he didn't see it earlier.

[Aristocles]

Arjun shivered in the cold. "I-I just hope we reach someplace warm soon. An inn, maybe."

Kutur followed the road, staying ahead of the others and shouting encouragement (or insults) behind him when someone lagged behind. By nightfall, they had reached a sort of clearing, with a group of caves off to the right. "Which ones are safe to stay in and which ones are giant property?" He asked, as much to himself as to Arjun.

[Aristocles]

"The smaller ones aren't giant property, I'm sure" Arjun replied. "And they look warm enough."

Kutur nodded, and ducked into one that looked large enough to fit the three of them, and motioned for them to follow. "Holy wyverns . . ." he breathed as he walked in and saw the interior. There were markings on the walls. They seemed to be names, all in a language he's never seen before.

[Aristocles]

Arjun examined the markings. "I think these are names of dragons. The lettering looks very much like our own, but with subtle differences. They clearly used claw markings for the writing."

[bloonewb]

"Or . . . someone with a knife, trying to look like a dragon. This cave's only large enough to fit a few humanoids. I think it's a code or something." Kutur concluded as he opened up a map and a book on linguistics.

[Aristocles]

"A code for what? Is it a bandit thing? A military message? Maybe something that mages left behind?" Arjun wondered.

Kutur flipped through the linguistics book, and his eyes widened as he regarded a page on it. "Old Thieves Code," he answered. "These marks, they're signatures. See that one? 'Ten-handed' Perwiu, legendary pickpocket. And over there, 'Barbarian' Rict, crime boss and torturer. Suddenly, I don't feel safe staying here."

[Aristocles]

"Then let's get out of here and find an inn or something!" Arjun replied, backing away from the cave.

[bloonewb]

"The last guy to use the old thief's code died centuries ago. In fact, that's how historians mark the history of thieves. The moment the law cracks the code, it changes. However, that doesn't exclude - Ooooh, it's the ghost of robber's past!" He mockingly stated, throwing a handkerchief into the air and laughing.

[Aristocles]

"So, is there any danger or not?" Arjun queried, not quite sure what all of this meant.

[bloonewb]

"No, I don't think so. Not that we have a choice. The nearest inn's in Patir, one day's march that-a-way," answered Kutur, pointing down the mountain range.

[Aristocles]

"So, shall we begin marching 'that-a-way'? I wouldn't mind a safe place to sleep." Arjun admitted.
