So after a long (5 minute) deliberation with the council (myself) we have decided to allow for each of us (the 3 of us obviously) to have a go at another character! So post up your new character, if you'd like to have one, and we'll go from there! They won't be introduced until another go-round, but yay!
Also, if you don't agree on the idea of having another character let me know, I'm always willing to take back the ruling!
Nerdy, nervous and slightly overweight; Samantha is quite normal for an average teenager. She stands about 5 foot nothing and on the rare occasions that she is seen out of the house, she tends to wear plain jeans and a jumper even if it's roasting.
Background: Not everyone lives an exciting life or has some great tragedy in their past. Most people just coast through life without experiencing great sadness or joy. Samantha is one of those people. Her childhood was fairly happy, her early school life fairly normal. She never had a great many friends, nor any real bullies; truly an average boring life. If nothing else Personality: A weeb. A filthy, filthy weeb.
YukiHime is the face of Samantha's weebiness; as such, she is extremely Asian in appearance and is always wearing some kind of kimono-inspired dress.
Class: Druid Class Level: 3 Skills:
[Aspect of the Dryad] Buffs the target's HP by 1% for one hour.
[Regrowth] The most basic Druid heal, [Regrowth] heals the target for a medium amount of health over thirty seconds.
[Bolt] The Druid's primary offensive spell, [Bolt] casts a small bolt of lighting at the target, dealing minor damage. Due to its negligible MP cost and rapid cooldown, it it a highly spammable ability.

IN REAL LIFE
Name: Kaitlyn Gabrielle Griffin [Friends call her Katie. Zoe calls her Gabbie] Age: 17 Gender: Female
Appearance:
So this Katie chick...she’s pretty tall, eh? Six foot three...and she’s still the runt of the litter. Genetics, man. That’s some crazy shit. But there’s more to a person than just height! Even if they are pretty much just skin and bones. Don’t uh...don’t tell her we put that last part in here. Thanks. But yeah, tall and lanky, the chick’s got rather pale skin and hazel eyes. She’s rocking her dark brown hair in a short cut. We uh...we’re not sure if we’ve ever seen her with long hair. Huh. Oh well. Where were we?
Hmm…
Well, how about clothes? She doesn’t really change things up much, so that’s pretty simple. From the bottom up, it goes black converse, skinny jeans, and a thin top of some sort, be it a tee shirt, a-shirt, what have you. She dresses light. Well...until winter. But she always looks so pissed off in winter so...
Background: Kaitlyn was born the second of three children, and the only girl of the lot. Growing up, she was often treated as just one of the boys, which was perfectly fine with her. Hell, for the longest time, she thought she was a boy herself, and got so very angry when told otherwise. Since then, Katie never fully grew out of her tomboy roots, remaining very much one to this very day.
Video games were, quite frankly, not very high on her radar. The family wasn’t exactly rolling in money and there were plenty of children in the area, so she mainly spent her childhood outside playing. Elder Tale didn’t come until much later, at the behest of Kaitlyn’s best friend, Zoe.
Zoe was always a bit of an introvert, so it wasn’t likely that the girls would ever really meet naturally. But as fate would have it, their mothers were very close friends and the girls didn’t have much choice. It all worked out swimmingly though. Zoe idolized Katie, and Katie was glad to have a little henchmen.
It was sometime during high school that Zoe finally convinces Katie to give Elder Tale, the former’s current favorite game, a go. Katie takes to it like a fish takes to water. She quickly became enamored with the world, perhaps bordering obsession. It didn’t take long for her to discover PVP and her knack at the task. Once she was discovered by Widow Squad, well, that’s all she wrote. Kaitlyn was basically an addict by that point. The guild just encouraged and improved her already rapidly increasing talent.
About a week before the launch of Pioneers, Widow Squad disbanded. It’s unclear what caused it, really. And Katie and Zoe seem to be unwilling to discuss it for some reason.
At launch, the girls happened to be logged in, playing on their Assassin toons...and then well…
Catastrophe.
Personality: Ask anybody who knows her what Katie’s like and they’ll pretty much scratch their heads and shrug their shoulders. She seems pretty laid back at a glance, what with her soft voice, carefree attitude, and rather subdued body language...but the chick’s got a surprising temper. It’s like a hair trigger, really. Just like a damn snake, poised and calm up until it’s ready to strike…The point is, it’s incredibly hard to tell what she’s thinking. Maybe she’s happy, maybe she’s pissed. All one can do is roll the die and pray that they hadn’t done anything recently to piss her off, because when this chica gets going...yeouch. The kiddie gloves come off. The “sweet girl” turns into a monster, cursing left and right, a rough voice and rougher mannerisms. If she’s not trying to play somebody, she’ll be as blunt as possible.
In short, Katie don’t give a fuck.
In that vein, it’s not surprising to know that Katie’s a thrillseeker. She likes trying new things, consequences be damned. If she or somebody else could potentially be hurt...well, fuck it. #yolo, amirite? It’s not like the girl is looking to die or anything...but one never knows if one will wake up the next morning. So live life to the fullest. Have fun. Take risks. Get hurt. Move on. Live in the moment. All that jazz.
With temper and overall aversion for safety, it’s rather surprising to know that the girl is actually pretty damn smart. She consistently scored high on exams and would likely be in the top percentile for her class. But she’s not a genius, just really good at figuring out how things works. Patterns, numbers, etc, her mind picks those things up quickly. Coupled with a rather decent memory and quick reading speed and it makes school more or less child’s play. While the real world may be different, at the moment she’s soaring high.
But her intellect isn’t exactly something used purely for good. As analytical as Katie is, it’s easy for her to get a read on people. And with that comes the darker side of Katie. She’s manipulative. She gets a bit of a sick pleasure out of getting others to do what she wants. It’s not always to her benefit either, sometimes she just messes with people for shits and giggles. Almost worse than that manipulative side, the girl can be downright cruel. And at times, she may not know exactly when to let things go.
In-game, the girl puts on a mask. She acts rather innocent and ditzy despite being neither. She’s also much friendlier, putting up with things much more than she otherwise would. Why, she might even seem shy at times. Quite frankly, she’s an airheaded, absent-minded, scatterbrain. Of course, it’s all just a ploy, just something to win the trust of those around her. Right before she puts a blade between their shoulder blades. But it’s nothing personal, really. PKers just gotta PK, y’know? It’s fun and profitable...but more importantly than that, she’s good at it.
But you can trust her.
Unless she’s grinning...

In-Game Name: Uno Uno In-Game Gender: Female Race: Human
In-Game Appearance:
Uno Uno, much like Katie herself, is very tall and lanky. Honestly, just swap the hair and eye color and you’ll have a pretty close match. Uno Uno does wear her hair slightly differently, pulled up into a high ponytail and out of her face. Clothing-wise, Uno Uno goes light. REAL light. She prefers cloth over leather just for the extra evasion. After all, with her HP, all the leather in the world ain’t gonna stop one good hit from sending her to Respawn City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty.
Class: Assassin Class Level: 90 Skills:
An attack from a low stance where the waist is lowered and the attack is unleashed, a melee only skill. Although it doesn't have much power, it has a cooldown of 1 second and has the ability to increase it's power if used consecutively(up to 8 stacks), so it is possible to kill the opponent in a flurry of hits. When it use it takes on a pale glow and leaves trails in the air, the glow strengthens with each hit. Because the use of Deadly Dance is extremely hurried, other actions tend to become careless due to the focus.
Throws something at the ground, creating a smoke screen to completely block the enemies line of sight for a short time. No matter how much hate was accumulated before that, the line of sight is obstructed during the duration of the effect, so by using it with movement skills right after, it is possible to use skills that raises damage with special attacks. This is a very powerful skill, so it comes with a 12 hour cooldown, it is necessary to think about what to do after using it before actually using it.
Runs into the blind spot of the enemy, a skill that raises the hit and critical rate of the next attack.
Assassin's key and last-resort skill, it is the strongest instantaneous damage ability among weapon-based attacking classes. Deals large damage to an enemy's body; furthermore, enemies usually are killed instantly if their levels are lower than the Assassin's by 10 levels or more. Since the strength of this skill increases with higher ranks, the Assassin can potentially outclass the firepower of others. If the attack lands, a white glow appears on screen surrounding the enemy, showing their silhouette falling if it is instant death. Against Player Characters, this skill instead simply deals heavy damage.
Takes an enemy by surprise and launches an ambush. A strong attack technique that increases it's damage greatly if it hits the back of the enemy. The cooldown is short, and can be used aggressively if there is a chance. However, it must be used in combination with other skills to efficiently take advantage of the "attack from behind" condition in solo situations. It is suited for use in parties since the job of the warrior is the attract the attention of enemies, this basic form of cooperation leaves the enemy open to surprise attacks from the back, creating a pincer attack.
Skill that does an ambush attack. After preparing the weapon and storing energy for a while, unleashes a powerful slash or shot using the power of the entire body. Because the storing time is long, one can easily be interrupted or separated from the target, so in order to use the skill without risks it is common to use in combination with stealth skills. As the skill rank increases, the storage time decreases and becomes easier to use. When in use the weapon or arrow glows a dark red and leaves a trail in the air.
Skill that delivers a coup de grâce with minimum movement. Enemies that are near death or is considerably lower level than you are instantly killed. This is said to be a skill that makes an Assassin an Assassin, along with Assassinate. It has short motions so it is easily used between other skills, it's often used to clean up mobs missed by other party members, and for eliminating mobs that surround the boss. Against Player Characters, this skill instead deals heavy damage to Players under 15% max health.
Subclass: Hitman Subclass Level: 45 Sub Skills:
Gain a 2% damage increase against enemy monsters of the Humanoid-subtype. Does not apply effect against Player Characters.

IN REAL LIFE
Name: Zoe Bailey Thorne Age: 16 Gender: Female
Appearance:
Zoe...kind of just fits in with the crowd, y’know? She’s stands at about five foot six and has a rather average build. Not excessively skinny, not overly fat. Just average. She has light hair, lighter skin, and pale blue eyes. Needless to say, the sun is her mortal enemy, and the two are destined to fight to the bloody end. But the sun, what with it being an enormous ball of superheated gas burning in space, tends to win more often than not, leaving the girl a lovely shade of lobster red for her troubles.
She doesn’t go out of her way to dress any which way. Style is pretty much wasted on the lass. She’ll pick whatever is clean, more or less. Her closet is filled with a mishmash of whatever fits. Hoodies, button ups, t-shirts...she doesn’t really have anything she gravitates towards. Who needs clothes anyway? Pajamas are enough for an all-night gaming session...right?
Background: Zoe was born the only child to a pair of physicians. Growing up, the girl spent a lot of time with baby-sitters or, as she got older, just downright alone. There were never any other children around so while the girl got very good at understanding herself, when it came to others she was a helpless mess. One of her only real life friends she would make would be the Kaitlyn girl that was the daughter of her mother’s friend. The two spent a decent amount of time together, and eventually just sort of melted into friendship. It was fine for Zoe, really. Kaitlyn was interesting. But more than that, Kaitlyn was bold. Kaitlyn didn’t care about anything. Zoe was jealous. She wasn’t to be like the girl but...well, it just wasn’t happening.
But it’s not like the girls could spend ALL of their time together, and being alone was something that Zoe did pretty well. If she wasn’t studying or reading, she was probably playing a video game of some sorts. It didn’t matter what kind, the girl was into just about anything. But as she grew up, she became more and more attracted to a certain kind: MMORPGs. She played through just about any that she could get her mitts upon. But it didn’t take long for her to find her way into Elder Tale. It had just about everything the girl could ask for. So she immersed herself in it. It was a sort of loop, really. The more and more she pushed herself into the game, the more awkward she would be outside of it, which would lead to uncomfortable encounters in the real world, which would in turn push her even further into the game. It wasn’t healthy, but she didn’t care. Hell, if she could, she would have loved to LIVE in that world…
Eventually, Zoe managed to convince her best friend Gabbie (or Katie or Kaitlyn, depending on who you asked), to give the game a spin. She fell for it instantly. It was a win-win for Zoe. She got her Elder Tale time AND her Gabbie time, now in one. It was like having her cake and eating it too. Gabbie rolled an Assassin, and to experience the game with her, Zoe rolled one as well. Honestly, it was even better than it was before.
For a while.
But eventually Gabbie got really into PK. Which was alright, but it wasn’t exactly Zoe’s cup o’ tea. But when her friend would ask her to lend her a hand, Zoe couldn’t help but agree. She even somehow found herself roped into the same PK guild as the violent girl. It was...jarring at first, but Zoe came to love the little community. Even if she wasn’t a fan of what they were doing, the company made it worth it, so...yeah.
Everything was smooth for a while, but about a week before the newest expansion, something happened and the guild disbanded. She refuses to talk about it though.
And then, when the day of Pioneers finally came to be, Zoe finally got her wish.
Catastrophe.
Personality: Zoe...geez...she’s just weird. She very rarely seems to speak, but when she does, it’s very soft and very quick, and usually just to her closest friends (or friend. As in singular. As in only Kaitlyn.) and even then only when there’s not too many people around. Call it what you want, really. Selective mutism. Social anxiety. Snobbiness. The long and short of it is, the girl is basically a potato in public. Sure, she’ll laugh if something’s funny, but then she’ll hear her own laugh and think something is wrong with it and stop. Pity, that. Really, the girl just worries WAY WAY WAY too much about what other people think about her. Nearly obsesses, really.
When it comes to just about anything other than human interaction, Zoe’s a bona fide whiz kid. Most things she gets her grubby little paws upon, she understands. Computers, games, books, what have you. This has been excellent for her grades. Unfortunately, that still doesn’t transfer over to social encounters. Go figure.
The girl frequently gets lost in her own head, daydreaming something or other. She could spend hours lost up there, so the best remedy is usually a swift slap in the back of skull. Just to keep her on her toes, yeah?
In-game, the girl doesn’t really suffer from the usual social breakdown. Text communication? She can handle it. And well. She’s even actually rather well liked amongst her (former)guildmates. She’s a straight shooter, preferring not to lie or deceive people, much to her partners’ chagrin. She’s also pretty passive, letting things go as they may. This often leads to her being taken advantage of, but she doesn’t mind if it’s to help a friend if they ask her. Or a stranger if they ask her. Or an enemy if they ask her. Look, she doesn’t handle pressure well, alright?
Zoe’s knowledge of Elder Tale gives her a bit of confidence she doesn’t normally have in real life. But know that the game has changed, how will the fragile girl adapt?
Probably poorly.
IN GAME
In-Game Name: Z-03 (Called ‘Zee’ or ‘Three’ by her guildmates.) In-Game Gender: Female Race: Elf
In-Game Appearance:
The awkward chica decided to roll an elf for this toon. And she decided to have a little fun with it, making the elf rather tall. Somewhere above six foot, easily. She has soft orange-red hair, with rather distant and vacant green eyes. Her resting face shows something more along the lines of boredom, sadness, or just general disinterest. While she does stand tall, she slouches, her neck bent and her head and eyes cast downward.
She wears cloth robes, not really for any statistical bonus, but just because she likes the look of it. Theme can be important, y’know.
Class: Assassin Class Level: 85 Skills:
Continuous rapid fire shooting. A skill that has many practical uses, can give large damage by concentrating on one target, or can attack multiple targets by scattering the shots. Generic skill for ranged Assassins
An attack with arrow or throwing knife aimed at the opponents nerves. If it hits the target, the enemy is paralyzed for a few seconds, and it has the additional effect of reducing the targets movement speed afterwards. The paralysis duration is short compared to other skills, but the movement speed reduction effect suit ranged Assassins that repeatedly "shoot and run".
Skill that silently marks an enemy without notifying them. By marking an enemy as the target, hit rate, critical rate and damage towards them is increased for the duration of the effect. A powerful supplementary skill that can change the outcome of a fight, it cannot be performed while moving and evasion rate is reduced, so care must be taken when positioning. When in use there is a aiming target like the scope of a rifle locked onto the target.
Assassin's key and last-resort skill, it is the strongest instantaneous damage ability among weapon-based attacking classes. Deals large damage to an enemy's body; furthermore, enemies usually are killed instantly if their levels are lower than the Assassin's by 10 levels or more. Tends to get too excited and mushes her words together into an unintelligible mess. Gabbie’s been around her long enough to usually know what she’s wanting though.
Her main toon is actually a cleric [Z-01], with her backup being a bard [Z-02]. Both are level 90 as well. She has...a number of other alts. What can she say? Girl likes variety.
Since we have a few more characters, I'm going to shelve YukiHime for the moment. I'll probably finish the CS and introduce her a bit later on in the plot, if there's still space then.
Quick Question can we use the Pirate and Medicine Man classes?
EDIT: So I found thise online a few months back for those who are interested: pastebin.com/MVZywGsJ - Skill list I think it has more than some on the wiki.
Yeah, okay cool I just wanted to know if we were going with the name or not. Anyway here is Jaune.
IN REAL LIFE
Name:Johnathan "John" Hernandez-Lau Age:27 Gender: Male
Appearance:
He is a relatively tall, average built young man with black hair, dark skin and lanky build. He tends to be clean shaven, but on days wherein he gets too sucked into his work he will look like a hobo. He has an exceptionally clear and youthful looking face, with an amazing set of pearly white teeth, but sadly his self-confidence doesn’t match his looks.
Background: Johnathan has never really been much into games, and even less when it came to MMO’s. He first started playing Elder Tale in the spring of freshman year in Boston University as a way of coping with the new changes in his life. He moved into the dorms, his parents divorced, he’s questioning his sexuality, and was worried about his future. Elder Tale was only the good and steady thing going on in his life.
He eventually stopped playing Elder Tale around senior year of college to focus on his schoolwork; at the time his character was at level 65, his progress being quite slow given his play style and character creation choice conflicts. In the same year that he stopped playing to focus on graduating he realized that he still had no idea what to do with his life. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in Computer Science.
A year after he graduated he was living with his mother and her new husband. He was working at a small business company as their tech expert, local young guy, and occasional and unofficial IT. He hated his job, he tolerated his stepfather, he had no social life, his then current boyfriend was horrible, and truthfully he hated everything. At the age of 23 and a half he already felt like an 80 year old widow. Taking the advice of his mother Johnathan decided to try something new and enrolled in an art class at the community college. In a short amount of time he discovered something new about himself that made him happy and felt passionate about. In three years’ time he had already quit his old computer science job and now a full time concept artist and computer graphics designer. He had his own apartment, not the best, but it made him feel like an adult.
Elder Tale came back to his life when Johnathan saw an advert for the 12th expansion pack. Jonathan immediately pulled out his old account and started replaying the game. While playing the game he was able to meet some new people that led to various work opportunities, which led to Elder Tale inspired work, With his artwork out there some people contacted him about a possibility for working for the company to hire him for promotional concept art. All in all things were going great for him until the new expansion pack is released.
Personality: He is a pretentious little snob who is incredibly honest and kind of mean. He is confident in himself and his skills. He's mostly pleasant around strangers, but those who know him well will tell you that he is a jerk, granted he is a jerk who cares. In the game he acts the same way, and while he is not the best when it comes to playing in a group, he is very knowledgeable and has a good understanding of how to fight in a group.
IN GAME
In-Game Name: Jaune Smythe In-Game Gender: Male Race: Race of Ritual In-Game Appearance:
Jaune and Johnathan look pretty much the same, but Jaune the avatar is much shorter than John in real life. The height was appropriate at the time, but when he hit an second growth spurt he outgrew his character. The hair and eye colors different are also much different, but Johnathan opted for fancier hair colors and eye colors, the red orange hair and gold eye colors spoke to him. As a Race of Ritual his body is adorned in tattoos. The tattoo patterns he chose have an art noveau style that is primarily seen on his left arm that spreads outward into a flowery patter that can be seen on his chest, back, and up to his neck.
Class: Bard Class Level: 80 Skills:
Resonance Beat – Magic Attack Skill - Imbues a tune onto a weapon, causing a shockwave on impact, causing a resonance effect with the enemy's body as a medium. As 2 hits are needed, the damage dealt is very high.
Grand Finale – Emergency Skill - It is powerful magic spell that deals massive damage to a group of enemies. It can only be used once per every day cycle in the game. It’s named after a literal grand Finale because when the enemy is defeated when using the technique the player is bathed in a spotlight.
Sword Speed Etude – Cover Song = It is a permanent status buff song. When the song is in effect it raises the weapon attack speed of the members of the caster's party. , which raises their damage potential.
Ritardando – Cover Song – A permanent enemy debuff spell that decreases the enemy’s movement. This increases the chances of players doing what they want or letting them get more attacks and casting in.

The cloak increases the wearer’s agility and provides low imperceptibility. The effectiveness increases at night or in darkened areas. It’s one of his most prized possessions. Arms:
Left: Roaring Lion Bow - It is an artifact class weapon obtainable in a raid. It has an elegant design, with an intricate lion faced design. The weapon has a relatively low to normal attack power for a high-level bow compared to other artifact class bows, but this is compensated by increasing the users casting and attack speed, mana restoration speed, and spell effectiveness.
Right:Black Feather Arrows - Its is a production class arrow made by high level weapon-smiths. It has a high attack power and affordable. It also has an elegant design, black bolt and black feathers with a silver arrow tip
Accessories: Rabbit’s Feet Skin Boots - It is a magic class item that increases movement speed. It’s temperature controlled, cold in warm weather, and warm in cold weather. It’s functional with a simple and elegant look.
Title: The Wandering Bard Party: N/A He’s played on hundreds of Pickup Gorups though, but never been part of a specific group. He’s met and made some good friends on some party based quests though. Guild: Artists Unite (defunct) – They disbanded after some artistic differences between several parties. He’s still in contact with people that were in the guild and often meet with some of them to collaborate on artwork.
Miscellaneous: His preferred play style/build is called “Virtuoso - Curse Song Specialization” It focuses on aiding allies using their Curse Songs to weaken opponents and provide cover attacks. This build is rather unpopular due to the relatively short range of Bard attacks compared to Assassins and Swashbucklers, as well as the lower damage it deals. It is however popular among Bard players who also want to go on solo quests and missions.
