Personality:Amon is a quiet man by nature, he discharges his duty as a Knight of the Sands with great solemnity and is rather taciturn. At least that is how he presents himself when outside of the Pesagae barracks, within those hallowed walls he takes on quiet a different persona entirely. Amongst the Knights he is known to be quite a jovial man, more than willing to share a joke and a good drink with his companions whilst mulling over their latest readings.
No matter where he is however, he always carries himself with a sense of purpose and honour. He will not hesitate to help a person in need and will strike down the enemies of the White Marble City without question or remorse.
Bio: Amon didn't know anything about his parents, as a young boy when he inquired as to his lineage the elders merely told him that some Knights found him in amongst the ruins of a caravan on the outskirts of the great salt sea.
As an orphan Amon was inducted into the Knights Pesegae, an order of warriors sworn to defend the Kingdom of the White Marble city against any and all who may oppose it. Within the Pesegae there are nine Knights houses and Amon was selected to join the house of the Sands.
The Knights of the Sands are innate Telepaths, all possess a great power for controlling and influencing the minds of others through magic. Amon's earliest memories after joining the Knights of the Sands are of long hours of meditation, reading and sword practice. When he wasn't practicing his battle skills, he read poetry, history, philosophy and even studied some limited elements of geography.
Like all Knights he lived with his brothers and sisters all of them learning together and supporting one another, they were close. Once a week under the watch of an elder knight they would head out into the city and put their burgeoning talents to good use aiding their fellow citizens. Often they would use their Telepathy to help resolve judicial disputes or to help those with various ailments of the mind.
Amon spent many happy years like this, and then after what seemed an eternity of waiting he came of age. When he turned 16, Amon was brought before the Senior Knights of the Sands, he stood in the central courtyard of houses' barracks the balconies and corridors crammed with his brothers and sisters watching his iniation below.
Amon was ordered to stand arms at his sides, his shirt was then removed and the Senior Knights took up their swords. They surrounded Amon on all sides and swung their blades, Amon didn't flinch the steel stopping just before it made contact with his skin. He knelt, the Senior Knights resting their now glowing swords in-between their feet, their hands resting on the pomels of the eldritch blades.
Then as one the Senior knights began to chant
'Deprived of kin we have fostered you,
Deprived of light we have illuminated you,
Deprived of knowledge we have taught you all,
Deprived of purpose we bid you rise.'
Amon stood before replying, head still bowed.
'Bound by sand, bound by blood I serve,
Bound by faith, bound by honour I serve,
Bound by deed, bound by courage I serve,
Bound by life, bound by death I serve.'
With that the Senior Knights' swords ceased to glow, and in unison they placed their right hand closed in a fist over their hearts in salute.
'Amon'hotep Ysathar, we bestow upon thee the title of Sorcerer Knight of the Sands. May you serve well and live long brother' proclaimed the Senior Knights in unison.
Since then Amon has served diligently, whatever the Archmage has required Amon has been keen to serve his people.
Skills:
Warrior: Having been raised from youth to fight there are few weapons or unarmed techniques that Amon hasn't studied if not mastered. He may be a young man lacking in experience compared to his elder knights, but he is still a lethal opponent to meet no matter the circumstances.
Educated: Amon spent a great many hours of his youth in deep study and contemplation. When not otherwise engaged Amon can often be found studying new books and scrolls or even writing his own adding his own thoughts to the immense libraries of the Pesegae.
Master of Decorum: Whilst not as knowledgable as a courtier or civilian magistrate, Amon is still well aquatinted with the etiquette and protocol of high society. He is at ease when dealing with those outside the order, able to represent the interests of the Pesegae and the Kingdom professionally and in a most articulate manner.
Important Possessions:
Ra'Kes: This enchanted scimitar was forged by Amon when he was 14 as part of his training within the Knights Pesegae. The weapon is elaborate in design covered in arcane runes and is bound with Salamander hide.
Ro'Kai-es: This is a curved dagger, similar to its twin blade Ra'Kes this small nimble blade is covered in arcane symbols and bound with Salamander hide.
Relationships:
The Knights Pesegae: Whilst specifically a Knight of the House of the Sands, Amon is a Knight of the Pesegae above all else and gladly serves alongside his fellow knights. The knights all view one another as brothers and sisters in arms and will gladly defend one another to the death if needs be.
Kalophis: A hawk that Amon was gifted on his 13th birthday, Kalophis has been a constant companion of Amon's. Blessed with an extremely long lifespan this bird accompanies Amon almost anywhere he goes, acting both as Amon's and ears. Amon is able to use his abilities as a telepath to perceive the world through Kalophis' senses if he wishes, whilst this leaves him somewhat vulnerable as it deprives him of using his own senses, it is a scouting tool beyond compare.
Ormuhzd: A giant Salamander, Ormuzhd has served as Amon's steed for as long as he's known how to ride. Nimble and fast across the scorching desert sands Ormuzhd is indispensable to Amon allowing him to cover great distances at speed.
