The Descent into Hell is Easy
"Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here" - Dante's Inferno

50 B.C. (Before Cataclysm)

The world was prosperous, people lived in peace. The Kingdom of Valeria hadn't seen a war for the past hundred years after their new seemingly-immortal king took the throne. Cities grew bigger, families doubled in numbers, farms produced triple their yearly production. The seas were filled with boats bringing in fish that had grown in size apparently overnight. The world finally seemed perfect, a heaven on earth; An Eden brought upon them by the mighty gods themselves. Little did they know, their King had offered a dark price for this prosperity. The King wasn't a vile ruler or a bad person. He was an older gentleman, looking as if he was in his late fifties, a dedicated and humble servant of his people. He listened to their needs, and he loved each and every one of them with all his heart. He had even taken it upon himself to learn most of the names of the people living in his home city: Veiron. But when his dark past came to haunt him on the tenth hour of his hundredth year, everything was plunged into a darkness that would never seem to lift.

0 B.C. - 1 A.F. (After the Fall)

The Demons descended on his tower, the fabric of the world splintering where the King stood. With their gateway to the mortal world firmly entrenched the demons began to pour out. The King had made a deal with the devil. Prosperity and the absence of their carnage for a hundred years in exchange for his soul and his kingdom. The Demons, being greedy fiends, betrayed the King, claiming his soul fifty years before the end of the agreement. Perhaps they had seen his plan to banish them from the world once and for all, or else they were simply inpatient. Whatever the reason the King's foolish meddling loosed horrors known only in myth and legend into the streets, they rampaged through stores and homes, tearing citizens apart from the inside with an insanity and hunger nobody had ever seen in their lifetime. The King laid burnt to a crisp in his chambers, his mouth open in a silent screech of pure agony, as if he knew everything was lost.

The whole city and its surroundings were scorched with unholy fire and even to this day nothing can grow there. Amongst the unlucky few who made it out of the city alive some found that the event had marked them for life. A birthmark they'd never seen before, perhaps a scar, maybe their eyes changed color, or their skin turned black. Some of these people tried to hide their markings and did whatever they could to live on as if nothing had happened. Some embraced them, claiming that the mark would forever remind them of Veiron, and what the demons did there.

Only hours before his death, when the immortal king realized the mistake he had made he gave his people one final order, the formation of a new kind of army, the Stormbringers. They were a band of highly trained and skilled fighters. Soon after Veiron fell a group of strong fighters took the name and now roam free, claiming to follow the last wish of the King. They care little for the lives of the innocent, their only goal is to exterminate the demons that terrorize the land. They are the only ones known to have killed demons.

10 A.F. Present time.

Ten years from the destruction of Veiron.

We will follow the paths of a few brave men and women as they too will make a difference. Fighters, Mages, Assassins and Scholars. What lies ahead? No one knows. It is up to you to find out.

I will try to keep this thread updated with any information relevant to the main story.

Name: Edric Jaronus
Age: 19
Gender: Boy
Race: Half-Elf (Elf Human)? If not acceptable, I'll take Elf
Mark of the demon: A strange Glyph seemingly branded onto the back of his left hand
Profession: Odd jobs ranging from petty theft to guarding trade caravans
Appearance: Jaron is a half-elf (Elf?) of 5'11". He weighs about 130 pounds and is athletic, but by no means muscular. He has short, disheveled dark brown hair and bright green eyes. He has soft facial features, betraying his semi-human blood, yet his ears taper to points. He has a slight stubble he's tried unsuccessfully to grow into a beard.
Personality: Edric sees the best in people. This leads to him making friends at an almost superhuman pace. In all other matters, however, he is a pessimist. He quickly forges deep bonds with people and has a sharp wit.
Bio: Jaronus was born in the region of Longwood. His parents were mages and were disgusted by the fact that he had no magical talent. After years of unsuccessfully trying to bond with his parents, he left home and wandered for a long while. Finally stumbling upon the ruins of Veiron, which he decided was as good a place as any to find adventure.
Equipment: Leather armour, a pair of daggers, a single handed long sword, and a small hand crossbow
Notes: Edric is terrified of insects. Not terribly relevant but I figured I'd put it out there.

Are you accepting people outside of the "roll call"?

The Roll Call is essentially just a place holder till I have a firm character and cast list that post with links and headers and the like. Basically just something to occupy the first character tab post for the moment. We can always use new blood.

Their is nothing inherently wrong with the character though I would say that he could use a bit more fleshing out. Most of the categories are a little sparse. At least two paragraphs for a bio is required which if you're splitting hairs is around eight to ten sentences. A paragraph for personality, just so I have an idea of who this guy is. It wouldn't be a bad idea to include the types of things he is good at in the bio either.

Besides that there's just one other thing. All character's must be Veiron survivors, those people that were present when the demons were released into the city and lived through the experience. Mere exposure the ruins wouldn't be enough to give a person a Mark of Demons. They would have had to be physically present when the demons were released. That massive discharge of satanic energy is what caused the disfiguring marks. On that subject could you input a picture or description of the glyph?

Name: Gerad Olafson

Age: 30

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Mark of the demon: Gerad's right arm is covered in red glyphs and markings, most of which are the names of various demons. Occasionally the markings will flare up and begin to glow, usually when he's angry.

Profession: Stormbringer

Appearance:

He stands 6'5 and has a muscular, athletic build. He is a tank of a man with a strong jawline and broad shoulders, his eyes are a deep brown. A light five o'clock shadow dabs his cheeks and jaw as the remnants of the last shave.

Personality:

Gerad is an honor bound individual, or atleast he was before being banished by his clan. He maintains a general code of chivalry and tries to keep civilians out of his way, but if the matter is of importance he won't let anything stop him; especially not the lives of a few farmers. Being so tall gives him the ability to look down upon others, literally and metaphorically. He has an aura of superiority and ranks/titles mean alot to him in judging a man's character, second only to battle strength. Although he can keep a calm demeanor in public, one word against his honor and he'll gut you like a fish. Among his personal views also lies a hatred for anyone who treats people who have been "marked" like trash, having been expelled from his own family for such reasons.

Bio:

Gerad Olafson is a member of a deep seeded bloodline from Buant, renown for breeding strong warriors and barbarians. The origins of his clan are unknown, but it's roots tie back hundreds of years before cataclysm. Being brought up in a clan house of this nature turn Gerad into battle hardened sword swinger at a young age, he learned to swing a sword before he learned to dress himself. Furthermore he wasn't simply a member of the bloodline, he was the only child of the clan leader; a powerful man named Olaf. His father held the clan heirloom, a sword nicknamed Tyranny. The sword is believed to have been wielded by the original clansmen who founded the land that the hall stands on. Being the heir to the clan Gerad was entitled to the heirloom sword and leadership of the clan, which he inherited on his sixteenth birthday. This was customary in their culture, as with many parts of the realm the clan considers sixteen to be the age that a boy becomes a man.

Gerad managed the clan successfully for several years after being named the new leader, although he was known for being blinded by his sense of honor and ambition for the clan. Being the leader of a powerful clan, he often had to travel to meet with other family friends. It was on one such trip to Veiron ten years past that Cataclysm occurred. He was visiting a family associate in the city when the attack happened, He fought valiantly against the demons attacking him; but in the end there were simply too many. After slaying only one demon and being at death's door, Gerad fled the city on horseback and collapsed just outside under a small bridge.

When he had awoken, he felt different. It took him a moment to realize, but the arm he had used to strike down his adversary in the attack had been horribly changed. Bright red glyph markings covered it from his fingertips all the way up to his upper bicep. Gerad didn't know what to think of this, so he simply focused on returning home. It took him the better part of a day to return to his clan, and when they saw what the demons had done to him they wanted no part in him. He was cast out and banished by his own family, they attempted to take back the family blade; however Gerad was a gifted warrior and nobody in the clan was capable of defeating him. He left with the clan's most precious heirloom and turned to the life of mercenary with his clansmen behind him.

He lived the life of a sellsword for the better part of a year, doing small jobs for little coin; But finally he caught his break. An organization known as the Stormbringers had been reformed after Cataclysm and they needed manpower. Stormbringer recruiters visited Buant and hired every decent mercenary in town, Gerad among them. While most of the hired men couldn't take the pressure of going toe to toe with a demon, or simply weren't skilled enough; Gerad excelled. He was good at this new job, especially after being taught important battle techniques for demon combat. He has served in the Stormbringers for close to nine years, and he has slain several demons. In doing so he's risen to a high position in the organization.

Equipment:

Tyranny
The artifact blade passed down through Gerad's bloodline, Tyranny is a blade of unparalleled strength; or so the clansmen of Buant claim. It is made of an almost unbreakable divine steel and has a blade length of about three feet. The pummel of the sword features a bright blue crystal that gives the weapon it's qualities of legend. Using the power of the crystal, Tyranny can maniplulate and summon lightning. The crystal is linked directly with the user, so the powers are tied to Gerad's energy; however over a decade of use with the sword has trained him to control and utilize this energy with impressive efficiency.

Steel Plate Armor
The armor of a knight, Gerad is quite proud of his armor's condition. Especially since it's so expensive, it took all the reward he got from slaying a demon just to purchase the suit of armor. Although he's never regretted the purchase, the armor has saved his skin more times than he can count with two hands.

Throwing daggers
These are small knifes Gerad keeps strapped to his belt at all times, useful for small tasks and distanced targets.

Wineskin
Gerad's main source of refreshment, the container for his wine. Wine is quite popular with knights, who can blame them? But although he hates to admit it, wine isn't exactly something to keep you nourished on the battlefield. This is precisely why he pays the priests a large sum of money to bless his wine, giving it some small energy recovery capabilities. The process in which they do this never really interested Gerad, but he understands that it involves magic; not witchcraft. Which is all he needs to know.

@Minato Namikaze
The backstory looks good, indepth enough to give a good idea but still room for growth. Character fits pretty well into the setting. Just two things. Firstly a sword has a pommel not a pummel (Grammer Nazi to the rescue). And I was wondering to what kind of degree can Tyranny discharge lightning and how proficient is Gerad with using this technique?

Sorry for the typo cx and I had a general idea of anything from sparks along the length of the blade to a charged strike down from the sky. Of course more powerful attacks would drain him and leave him completely vunerable.

In all honesty in the original RP we'd only just introduced the Stormbringers (or the Warriors as they were called at the time) and had yet to show fully what there organization looked like. I haven't had time to come up with a formal ranking system for them. I suppose it wouldn't be that different from a real army but members do increase in rank based on skill and number/strength of demons defeated.

Alright, let me know if you get around to figuring a ranking system out. Its not that important either way. Are the abilities of the sword okay?

@Minato Namikaze I'd say so as long as massive lightning strikes have severe consequences then it should be fine. You can post it to the character tab.

The CS looks pretty standard fair and if I might say a lot better than the previous incarnation. There is however one thing regarding the Arcana section. Magic, at least legal magic is born not made. Only those with magical apptitude can perform spells. There would be no teaching spells "but nothing compared to what a real wizard could do". You either are a wizard or you aren't there is no inbetween. The only type of magic that can be taught us witchcraft which is both infinitely more complicated and a hanging offense.

I realize I only told someone about this in PM and not in the general information panel so that's my fault. Normal weapons can't handle having magic channeled through them. It causes them to degrade very quickly to the point of melting into a hunk of slag. Even before the fall smiths capable of making enchantment grade weapons were rare and charged much for there services. After the fall many were hunted by demons for there capabilities or simply for sport and now if any are left they are in hiding. This means that enchanted weapons made recently or having magic channel through them tenders the weapon useless very quickly. The only stable enchanted weapons are like Tryanny very old and often heirlooms of royal houses dating back to the lands settling by what would become major houses.

And to everyone, I realize that so far most of you are playing former nobles if Veiron but that doesn't mean all of you have magic weaponry. These objects are meant to be rare and highly sought after and following the fall often pass hands just like the Elder Wand, through bloody means.

Accepted, minor note, Veiron is the Capitol of the kingdom not the name of the kingdom but otherwise great job.

Profession: Blacksmith/Fighter
Personality: Silvana is meticulous when it comes to her craft. She will often double and triple check her work. She trained her trade under her father for four years becoming a proficient and successful blacksmith in her own right. But when the King formed this new army, she knew things were about to take a turn for the worse. She packed up her tools, against the protest of her father and began making preparations, basic leather armour. On the day the kingdom fell, she was close to epicentre and was exposed to the tainting, body and mind warping power from the Daemons Realm, she barely managed to escape. In the years since the fall she has slain many an Orc that decided to push their luck and attack her, though she always moves when she sees Demons nearby. She has fought one though, and injured it, but had to flee due to the injuries she sustained.

Made some adjustments and removed her magic. Mostly revamped and fleshed out her personality.

@MedjedovicWhat do you think about Alicia and Charles actively working together from the start. I could even add a little bit on how they escaped Veiron together or something.
