Well done, lads.

Nice post, @Legion02

I find Reathos' response to his fear that sentient life is going to destroy Galbar funny. He just made even more sentient life :p

Hmmm, I probably should have made some things more clear in IC. The plan is that they function much like the Heraktati. When they grow too numerous they will start infighting until they are at a more manageable number. Except that this time infighting just means dueling and such. It is indeed pretty ironic but alas, what is better to fighting sentient life than other sentient life?

Before I get so tied down by catching up that I forget to mention...

"A misshapen freak from whose decaying chunks more freaks arise!? This is most distressing news To think that not only does such incorrigible ugliness live on this world..." he turned and winked at Hyoban. "Such as yourself, but that somewhere there totters a living factory of it! I am... -hurgh!- hard-pressed to not hurl in repulsion."

Allure's lovestruck antics are a blast to read, but if he becomes relevant to the next Slough-Ventus collab, would you do me a favour and let me know? Jvan finally has the means of keeping a close eye on Slough via Maize, and she- more specifically, her avatar- is not going to be at all pleased to see some half-naked vandal threatening violence against her favourite girlfriend, no matter how perfectly tanned his pecs are.

That makes sense. Anyway, do you mind if Astarte eventually approaches Reathos and offers him to teach the Pronobii how to control their souls and manifest their energy in the physical realm? Such a teaching could lead to bursts of immense physical strength, agility and maybe even intelligence in a case or two.

She'll grow interested in them in a turn and by then she'll probably enjoy their culture quite a bit.

Hey @Legion02, I don't really want to take ownership of the concept, but just to make sure, could you give me your interpretation of how magical siphons work?

I feel like it sound be fleshed out a bit because I had an idea in my mind about their constraints that might run into a bit of trouble with your ice dudes.

Ice magic, eh? @Legion02

well I guess the only proper response would be to make sick laser magic to counteract the slushy power of death.

I wouldn't mind at all! Feel free to do so! Though mind you, I also asked @Double Capybara if Ilunabar would want to add something to the Pronobii to make them a little more interesting. She will probably add her adition to them after Reathos retreats from his Prophet.

Some things are more fleshed out than others. I'd say that right now they do have a soul and through the power siphon they drain their own Vital Spark. A feat enabled by the blood bearing the Mark of the Reaper. Further, the blood also leeches nearby none-Pronobii life, an effect that manifests itself by chilling the close proximity of any Pronobis not in control of his/her own siphon. The leech effect makes them stronger when other life-forms with a full soul are nearby, which is an advantage in combat but also means that mingling with other species will be near impossible.

I hope that explains how I envision them. But do mind that Reathos merely took the concept, or the blueprint, from your kind of siphon and made an adapted version of it. If there are any issues with this, please do tell.

<siphon stuff>

Okay, so they're feeding off their own souls? I guess that makes sense. In that case, there can probably be changes to the constraints.

The way I had the white giants set up was to pick up energy by siphoning naturally occurring magic. The idea was that the siphon itself had to be big, which is why their torsos are so bulky. In addition, the siphons were unstable; any breach in the thick shell around them would cause a burst of wild magic to fly everywhere and destroy the siphon, effectively killing the giant. The upside is that Toun's design of the siphon doesn't wear out.

I expect that if mortals want to learn to build golems, a similar technique would be used and the knowledge would come primarily from Toun if they didn't work it out for themselves by dangerous trial and error.

I also expect that when things come to fisticuffs that Toun may refine the design for use in better war constructs.

The only real concern I had was the size (I got the impression that your cool dudes were about the size of humans) and the casing for the siphon. The first point can be contrived away due to using soul sparks instead of magic, but a solid blow that puts a crack in the ice of the chest would mean a very swift death.

Kho also wanted me to make something clear.

Reathos does NOT say WHEN someone has to die. He has no power over the time of dead of anyone. That power would lay with Vowzra. However, Reathos does ensure that dead actually happens. For example, the usual time of dead for a Hain would be 60 years if I remember correctly. When Astarte teaches them magic, they may attempt to extend their expected life. This is a violation to Reathos because the Hain didn't die when he's supposed to die. However, only Vowzra (and maybe Fate?) can say when anything is supposed to die.

Right now Reathos is sort of winging it. But that's okay because there aren't any real methods to extend your life to an unnatural degree. He did make the Heraktati to pretty much say in the animal kingdom: "Get on with it and die, you old farts!"

@Muttonhawk You're exactly right. Reathos' creations draw from their energy within and if possible from a little around them. Their siphons are still big (about as big as their chests) and indeed, they die should their icy 'skin' break.

Considering how much Pure energy is in those mountains, you better have a lot of Might saved up and/or some crazy powerful force before you even think about doing that. :)

Way more people die of disease than murder/war, ESPECIALLY in tribal and mid stone age times like ours.

xD He should of just created an incurable disease like cancer, that would show up everytime populations got to high. Too many people? Too much disorder? Boom, you all have mega-cancer.

Nonetheless, I like the new race
Well done

Depends on the place. I've heard that in Pre-Colonial Australia, one in four grown people would end up dying at the hands of another rather than by natural causes. I'd imagine hunting accidents, raids, and violent death in general will be a lot more common that you'd think in a world as ridiculous as Galbar.

Hmmm... You win regarding that point, I suppose, but I still like the idea of a disease: effective, difficult to cure, and great at wiping out large populations.

A plague, when you think about it, is practically Death Incarnate

Honestly I was thinking that diseases and such of thingies would be more home to the Adversary. And cancer would be Jvan's area.

Fair enough, bro/sis.

But, regarding disease, I think that's the territory of multiple Gods: Vestec, Reathos, Adversary, Jvan, and even Vulamera (if you count insanity/brain-injury). Therefore, there'd be nothing wrong with you creating one, since it's practically public domain (in my opinion, anyway)

For the record, I wasn't saying I don't like the race, I was just putting my opinion in. I honestly want as many races as possible. Vulamera loves sentients
