Name: Kinesis
Alias: The Great Apprentice, Turner of the Great Crank, The Devine Gear, Wheelbringer.
Gender: female
Domain (Portfolio): Crafting (Machinery)
Domain (Portfolio) DescriptionMoulding raw materials into elegant and effective creations is at the core of the Crafting Domain. It concerns itself with the design, creation and manipulation of things artificial and man-made, and its adherents tend to be artisans and labourers of some form. While some gods create things such as mountains, planets, oceans and life, Crafting gods focus their efforts on building. Unlike some Domains, the effects of the Crafting Domain are almost invariably tangible and concrete, establishing physical change in the world. While the Universe and Nature can carry on without the contribution of the Crafting Domain, Civilisation is wholly dependant on it. As such, the sway of Crafting gods are best seen through the rise and growth of civilisations. Crafting is not limited to the direct creation of objects. With the powers innate to the gods, those of the Crafting Domain regularly grant life the ability to craft, in the form of knowledge, materials, tools and inspiration. If there is no life able to be taught such things, Crafting gods will aspire to create beings who can share in their knowledge and admire their great works.
The Portfolio of Machinery busies itself with the crafting of things that move, and do. Things that sometimes are even maker of other things themselves. From the primitive stone wheel to gears and cogs. From Mills to pumps to minecarts. From great Tower clocks to tiny watches. This Portfolio is the very lifeblood of industry and progress, from the wheelbarrow freeing neolithical hunter gatherers from their burden to the clock dictating a renaissance sailors navigation.
Creations of this Portfolio can be rugged and robust but more often tend to be the most delicate and intricate of the Crafting Domain. That said the great machines build by Gods and Demiurges might churn and work on long after the civilization they served has succumbed to intertia.
Alignment: Neutral Good. As Opposed to her Fathers strict adherence to solid rules, Kinesis also seeks more freedom for her creativity, sometimes bordering on whimsical. She is a creature of actual matter and thus very much beholden to the urges of her body, and not adverse to indulge and make merry with those around her.
On the other hand Kinesis, like her Father and Master Teknall works for the betterment of the sentient people and beings and thus is good. She also is very protective and benign towards mortals, especially those she knows.
Personality:As the Great Apprentice, Kinesis need to learn is very much ingrained into her very being. She is extremely curious, with a great need to better herself, to learn all she can from the Greater Gods. Though she is able to work extremely hard this trait is less pronounced in her than her father. Instead Kinesis is more creative though more chaotic and fickle at times. While she is good natured and loves to help and cooperate, and she looks at others with deep laughter lines around her eyes nearly always, there can at times be a mischivious glint in her eye. Playing small tricks on others is not beneath her, though should anyone ever come to harm she would do everthing in her power to remedy the damage any way she can. Like her Father she is very protective of her Work and those she sees as under her or her fathers protection.
Appearance:Kinesis is overproportional, standing maybe one and a third fathom tall. Her 4 arms and 2 legs are actually quite muscular, still both her bosom as her hips/Bottom are voluptous compared to other mortal women. All in all she still seems very thin and lanky, due to her length and her delicate extremities, spiderlike hands and noble thin neck. Her calm face, apart of the a bit pointy nose seems to be craftet to the very mathematical definition of beauty, incorporating Golden ratio, fibonacci sequence, and just the right amount of asymmetry. Most often she smiles brightly though, deep laughter lines around both her emerald eyes.
Her hair seems not from this world, hanging nearly to her calves if open it somehow incorporates a similar polychromatic effect as the body of dung beetles. Seen from one angle it is perfectly black, gleaming greenish blue, while from the other it seems to glow red and orange like fire. The effect most often is nearly lost, as she doesn’t really care for it much, so it tends to be messy and greasy, hanging down her back in a braid or piled onto her head in a huge messy bun, held together by knots and sticks. Her skin is rather pale and the parts often exposed to the sun speckled by freckles.
When she feels no need to, she most often stays skyclad, though during her work she opts to wear a garment of thick brown leather, akin to some strange mix between dungarees and hotpants, it’s many pockets and beltpockets stuffed with all kinds of tools and parts, under it she wears a plain natural coloured colourless tunic , wich tends to be unbuttoned.
Musical Themes:Alexandre Desplat - the heroic weather-conditions of the universeGogol Bordello - UltimateDescription:
Kinesis was sired by Teknall to be his Apprentice, yes, that also, but mainly to bring the mortals the first gift of Technology: The Wheel, and to oversee the building and growith of the very First proper city and from it maybe even the first civilization. Even more than her father (whom she adores and idolizes a lot), Kinesis is seen as a caretaker, as she is not only benevolent but also caring and nurturing. Though her fickle moods and flights of fancy are feared by some. In most areas of Craftmanship, especially those of architecture or those requiring more strength, she is no match for Teknalls mastery, and likely will never be, but in her technological designs she is freer and more likely to experiment, while also being a bit more precise in crafting the very small bits and pieces of bigger wholes. As a Demiurge she might personally be willing to help other gods, but would never do so against her father wishes.
