I always saw the codex as more of a blueprint for the universe rather than the universe made real. I thought that it doesn't really maintain the universe because the universe was basically gut-punched out of the codex by Amul and Fate. The universe just is now. It's existence isn't really dependent on the continued existence of other entities.

Edit: That doesn't mean that the codex couldn't provide insights into the universe that are otherwise ambiguous to gods trying to work them out. It'd be really valuable in that sense. That's kinda not going to happen any more unless the godkiller reverts back for whatever reason.

Couldn't have said it better.

With regards to the Godkiller itself, there is nothing to say that it does not still containt all that information within it. From my understanding, it is currently in the form of a cup. But perhaps in the hands of another mortal it could take on a form which can unveil the information of the Codex.
But, as has been canonised in Vulamera's experience, looking into the Codex is bad in general. If it drove a god crazy, what will it do to mortals...
Unless, of course, mortals have some mysterious immunity...

So many questions, so little time

If Jvan disappears, she said that the Gap would flood into Galbar.

Correct (at least, soon)!

Just for everyone's records, though, that wasn't always the case. As with other codex contributions, the Gap as a whole is quite stable even if Jvan is gone, so long as it's left alone. It's just one particular major Gap pocket on the surface of Galbar that's (as of upcoming events) dependent on her survival.

So the universe and the other gods might not be too badly off if Jvan died. Ten billion mortals, though, would be a little upset.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It seems very unlikely that we'll ever find out. Someone else will probably fix the problem before it gets too out-of-hand anyway.

Not saying this will happen, but it would be fascinating if the original gods eventually all died off and new ones replaced them (i.e. current and future demigods).
The kinds of legends and tales that could develop around them. A bit similar to poog's current idea with Lifprasil and Alefpria, but on a universal level :O
Or perhaps they would pass into mythology, false creations of earlier peoples who did not know the truth...

Don't drag us into the grave with you. Ilunabar can't die until she gets a lofthouse, a BMW and her own tv game show

Edit: But in all sincerity, since Vowzra was the timelines guy, why don't you work these ideas into alt-timelines and post them as one-shot stories?

Perhaps the show can be called "Wheel of Torture" with Keriss as a co-host/the ultimate torture. You see the contestants who lasts the longest without going into shock wins a chance to all payed vacation to the Valley of Peace... where they get swindled out of all of their money or into eternal servitude to a random god.

@Kho In those regards, we need to consider a few things. With the death of Vowzra and co, there's a rather considerable power vacuum. And no insult to anyone, but the only "Major" Gods to die were Reathos and Vowzra. Imagine I Logos or Jvan or Vestec were eliminated foe good. It would be a madhouse as Sculptors, the Realta and Citadel, and Vezzy's barbarian horses went on a rampage. Hell, if Teknall died technological progress would pretty much l grind to a halt.

Ultimately, I would love for Clarent to be a demigod though... Logos might be my God, but this is ultimately Clarent's story.

@Dawnscroll
Well, Arcon didn't have Teknall's support and supposedly it will be more tech advanced than Galbar. Saying there is no tech without him is an exaggeration.

On the same way, I think that outside of the Realta, the threats you listed are somewhat minor. Hordes would be slowly eaten away by attrition as Vestec's support of it disappeared. Jvan's sculptors would just go back to wandering alone, as they always did.

I mean, it would be pretty comfy for me as a player if Ilunabar being hurt meant all beauty in the world would die away, all cultures would go poof and all that. But I don't think that is how the game was set and the way the death of gods has so far been handled confirms that.

So far the only case of a god being in a bad spot having a bad effect on the world has been Slough. But sincerely, the Aimless Time was interesting as a one-time thing, a repeat would be too much.

Not that I think any active god should die either way. Unless the player decides to kill them off.
