You know, I thought I would do a post today, but I've instead been filling out background creation sheets for the post, spending much of my time working out that the ancient Greek antonym for exo- is eso-. Hopefully my pseudo-Greek doesn't sound too retarded in the end.

Anyway, hopefully I get the post done tonight, but no promises.

I thought the Greek antonym for exo- (as in exoskeleton) was endo-.

That would be great, actually! What I was looking at was butchering the word 'automaton' in its capacity as an English loan word.

See, automaton roughly splits up into "operated by itself," so I wanted to fenangle it into "operated from within."

I went searching around ancient Greek for what I could bodge together and found "esoterica," which apparently means "interior." The prefix on that word is "es-" which is what apparently describes something being "inside."

In the end, I got "esomaton," as in "operated from inside." I think...

Now, ancient Greek and modern Greek are slightly different, but English seems to like loaning from ancient rather than modern. That meant that this whole process was mostly me flailing around in Wiktionary.

But anyway, I am more than willing to admit that I am woefully unqualified in ancient Greek word smithing, so please help me out.

As for endo/exo, that might be more correct. It apparently comes from "endon," meaning "inside the house" or something. That in turn came from "en" which is a catch-all for "around," "on," "amongst," and all that, so I wasn't sure if it was most appropriate.

If you've got an oath that you reckon would result in improving things and a suitable reward, I'm all ears!

Well, I did a search for the posts for my Heroes, and boy do they have a ton of Khookies saved up, according to the math I calculated.

Only problem is how to accurately determine their current levels after all this time. I have fairly decent estimates, but I would like to know for certain.

@Scarifar The time-skip mechanic changed:

The higher a Hero's level, the more Khookies needed to level up. As there will undoubtedly be time-skips, it is important to know that Heroes naturally grow in power over time - which manifests in the form of a 'Timeskip Khookie Bonus'. Thus, after a time-skip, a hero will be granted extra khookies. The amount given will most likely be generic and apply to all, though GMs and Co-GMs may use their discretion if they believe plot demands that a certain hero be given more khookies.
From the OP

As we technically haven't had any time-skips, there have been no Timeskip Khookie Bonuses yet.

So, I can use the Khookies I have calculated up to calculate what their current level should be, and therefore determine their levels?

Or are you saying that I should readjust my calculations for the Khookies I have? Because I never even factored in timeskip Khookies.

Timeskip Khookies will be given explicitly by the GMs, I believe.

The levels of Loth and Falas will be whatever level they were when you last left them. You must explicitly spend Khookies (or Might) to level them up.

Okay, I researched this a bit. From what I gather, you want a word with the rough meaning of "operated from the inside/from within"

To start off, we have to examine the etymology of: automaton

automaton is the Latinized form of αυτόματον, which is the neuter form of αυτόματος, meaning "acting of one's own will"

αυτόματος splits into two words, αυτός and μέμαα.

With the help of the above, we can interpret "operated from within" as "having the will on the inside"

esomaton, the word you came up with can be considered to have that meaning, although endomaton would actually be more accurate and better suited to describe what you want. Now, endomaton does not exist as a Greek word, so I do not know if its meaning would be exactly what you want. However, I am quite sure that it's close to the meaning of "operating from within"
I will continue to research this, if you want, and come back to you later with the results.

@Vec Thanks man! Yeah, I'll probably change it to endomaton in that case. I don't mind much about it not being a word. I make up words in English all the time, what's a different language matter?

I'd be interested to hear more if you find anything.

Naah, don't worry, I'll go with the 'controlled destruction of everything' route rather than 'wtf did you just do Vestec?'
