Do any of you guys ever get on a writing roll, and then fucking
STOP

because you have something very particular in mind and know there there is the perfect word/phrase to describe it and that verbage that you so desperately crave is on the tip of your tongue but you still can't quite snatch it into something corporeal and so you sit there for 30 minutes trying to find the perfect word for one damn sentence

*takes a breath*

and then you realize that for the last hour you've just been twiddling your thumbs as you rifle through your mental dictionary of all the words you know or if you're more like me maybe you were typing out phrase after phrase on google in hopes of some thesaurus bringing up that obscure word that you want but of course it's all to no avail and you're left to drown in your own despair and rage and put off finishing that post for another two months because of that one damn word which really sucks because you know that it's a really cool word that you used a lot in past times but sadly you've forgotten it now

*huffs some more*

Might anybody happen to know a word that means, like, an unexpected little gust wind, or maybe a sudden stirring in a pool of water? THAT'S THE MEANING OF THE WRETCHED WORD/PHRASE THAT IS EVADING ME THIS TIME

@Cyclone Ripple C:

No this particular word that I'm grasping for is related more to air than to water, I think

@Cyclone

An eddy/draft is close, dammit, but still not what I'm looking for! Gaaaah!

*succumbs to insanity*

Thanks for trying though :(

I'm ain't giving up.

Draft?

If all else fails, you could get away with a water term. To be honest, they're more related to fluids, and air is technically a fluid, it's why they both share a lot of terms, like current and stuff.

Yeah, seeing furrow actually made me remember lol

Hey, that's a new one. Might have to name some random windbag Mistral. I've been running out of cool-sounding air words to use for djinni names.

Huh. Flurry was always something I associated with snow. Oh well! I'm glad we came to an answer.

Holy hell, I just looked that up to make sure...

Noun
flurry (plural flurries)
1. A light, brief snowfall.
2. A sudden and brief blast or gust; a light, temporary breeze.

a flurry of wind

3. A shower of dust, leaves etc. brought on by a sudden gust of wind.
4. Any sudden activity; a stir.  [quotations ▼]

The day before the wedding was a flurry of preparations.‎

5. A snack consisting of soft ice cream mixed with small pieces of fruit, cookie crumbs, etc.
6. The violent spasms of a dying whale.

I mean, I did that once... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But that was a single mention in a list of other names, so there's no actual conflict. I'll just be smug about it.

Wow! Lo, men, and behold! That word, such a fine word!

Imagine the depth, the countless facets of meaning, when I manage to use 'flurry' in such a way that it simultaneously refers to a whale's dying screams as well as the pleasant wind that naturally accompanies such a glorious experience.

Murmur's. He was a Sculptor Djinn.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's all we know about him, though. The real Mistral might've replaced him to clear the name of its... Associations.

More likely they're completely unrelated because nobody will remember or care about the 'predecessor'.

@Muttonhawk That wasn't in Moby Dick...
And as everything worth knowing about whales is in Moby Dick, I hereby declare the usage of that word in that sixth sense invalid, illegal, prohibited, forbidden, and unauthorised. Any attempt at using it in that sixth sense will be triable in the highest court in the land - that is, the Khourt.

In that case, whoever controls this Murmur freak is gonna be in for a rude awakening when I send my djinni lord of sound to kill him...

I had forgotten about the Sculptor djinn, but yes, now I remember being somewhat miffed at the concept of an immortal, incorporeal manifestation of nature being turned into some artsy sculptor. But I figured it'd be better if Murmur just killed them rather than if I complained OOC.

Isn't violence always the answer?
