@Kurai Assassin@King Tai"H-hey, watch it!" Camille stumbled back a little upon being coldly pushed aside. Rebecca however gave no retort nor reply, merely furrowing her brow at the bitter woman's words as she regained composure. Veterans, their battle wounds may have healed, but the thick, calloused scars upon their hearts and minds remained forever, the ceaseless pain racking their conscience without pause. For them, the war never ended. It was just waged on another battlefield, the struggle to readjust to civilian norms and shed away the killer they had become.
~"Hmm, well that was rather crass."~ She said dusting herself off.
~"Not sure why some random strangers are seeking out UHC operatives, or why the have information on this blood feud between the three families."~ She then turned to Camille, the girl sticking her tongue out at Katya as she stormed away, vanishing behind the door to Stone's office.
~"We should probably be on our guard tonight, sweetheart, as with any night that idiot sends us to do his dirty work."~The girl nodded in agreement and into the elevator they stepped, Rebecca pressing a button then leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, a blank slate of an expression as she pondered upon that woman's last comment.
World's End Pub, a lead maybe? I suppose we could start there, but I doubt it has any significance. From what I read of that girl's profile, Katya's intent on drinking herself to death. She'd frequent anywhere they were serving alcohol. Honestly, I feel sorry for her.The doors opened with a gentle hiss, a cool breeze gracing the vampire woman's pale complexion, causing her to shiver somewhat. The parking garage was always cold, cold and vacant. There were only a few vehicles present, one of them hers, a candy apple red sports car, a recent model. The two got in, the V8 engine revving with quite the horsepower as the crimson vehicle screamed out of the garage and onto the city streets.
World's End...such a quaint name for some seedy back alley bar, the kind of place one would be certain to seek out sorry low lives, though Rebecca never considered Katya as one. The embittered woman was just...down on her luck, a broken shell of the girl she used to be. As they drove on, the streetlamps and neon signs passing them by with subtle glows and highlights, the car
radio softly played, a mournful tune to fit what else but the dreary and melancholic aura Rebecca felt from her surroundings zipping by her, the city, so dirty and dangerous. She glanced off to the side, noticing in the passenger seat next to her, the teenage girl was curled up and peering out the window, her petite chest gracefully rising and falling with every shallow breath she drew, her tiny lips moving slowly as an incoherent murmur or two followed. Warmly Rebecca smiled, finding the view....quite adorable, yet, her smile faded as she sensed something in Camille.
~"You're worried about something."~ She whispered, one hand casually rested on the steering wheel while another was propped against her face as she leaned on the driver side door and gazed out onto the road.
~"You know I can read you like a book, sweetheart."~ Camille turned to her, nervously her fangs nibbling at her lower lip.
"I was just...I thought of something." She replied.
~"Oh?"~ Said Rebecca slightly raising an eyebrow.
~"Don't tell me. You have your suspicions as well about these recent slayings."~"You too, Mistress?" Camille returned somewhat surprised.
"But yeah, it's strange. Three coven lords murdered in cold blood, all in the same night. It doesn't make sense."~"I'm sure none of this will make sense at all, my dear."~ Rebecca said rather factual, keeping her eyes on the road. She too had her suspicions about the murders. Twas no mistake the three families had bad blood in the past, but never had she considered it escalating to such extremities as outright assassination. No, there was something else to this twisted menagerie, something a bit more sinister than typical mob warfare tactics.
~"What if we are just unraveling one tiny, little thread of a convoluted web of deceit and murder? Like...we're being dragged into this dark abyss where nothing can be discerned as either truth or lie. That's honestly what I feel about this mess, but either way...we're not here to solve cases, sweetie. Our mission is simple...kill them."~It wasn't really the answer Camille was expecting from her beautiful mistress, but nevertheless, she nodded in agreement and slumped back into her seat.
~"I'm not sure we can find Vladdy boy, but I think someone around here would know."~ Right as she said that, they pulled up close to the place, a dimly lit, flickering neon sign that read in plain letters,
WORLD'S END. And the place...it seared Rebecca's nostrils with an unmistakable odor, causing her to cringe and grimace at the awful stench, of blood, booze, and sex.
~"Well...this is certainly the place."~ A dry quip as she killed the ignition and stepped out. If cesspool of modern society was such a word, then in the dictionary this despicable scene would be but the image to accompany it. Prostitutes and drug dealers running rampant, spreading death and venereal disease with every step upon the cracked, filthy concrete stained with nearly years of vicious, bloody gangland warfare. Rebecca wondered if wherever she stepped a corpse had lied, possibly gunned down in such grisly fashion or gutted by the sadistic steel of a switchblade. Either way, this place made her uncomfortable, as if tiny, black poison insects were crawling all over her skin. She pulled Camille close to her, the teen looking around curiously, such childlike innocence should never be tainted...though Rebecca may have done that already many times in their bed chamber.
~"Come along, darling. We shouldn't daddle."~ Camille gave a soft nod to her Mistress' cooing, shuffling beside her as they stepped into the sordid establishment.
