Aldus nodded and ran over to the gem. Using a spell to deactivate it, he lifted it out of its holster. "I don't know who you are, but you'll regret crossing Aldus, son of-"
"I'm Larek, son of Adykon" he replied. Aldus looked quite scared at that.
"You're just a charlatan, a wannabe. Yet another rich boy born with magic but without a day's hard work behind you in your life!" Larek spat. "Was that gem your father's? You sure didn't make it!"
Aldus nodded, very afraid now. "If you let me go I promise not to-"
"Destroy the gem and you get to live" Larek replied. Aldus turned almost pale, an odd sight for a dracon. He threw the gem down the side of the cave, down the hill, where it shattered into pieces. "That gem was taken by my grandfather from another dimension, you know. That- that's where those lights came from. I don't know how it works, just that it does that light thing..."
