@Nosuchthing your character is kinda creepy, especially her power. Lol but I am curious. How can Claire be both intangible, but effect the physical world around her at the same time?
Think poltergeist, or 'Ghost' if you've seen that movie? Claire doesn't actually exist within the same physical realm as we do, but can reach through the veil in order to cause mischief.
A little side story by @Ciphra and I :). Not everything is final so look at this like a little "a whole other universe' story. Not canon but it might be if the character is cleared XD.
Warning: Just heaps of fluff. May be vomit-inducing to certain evil wretches with no soul people if applied in wrong amounts.Donovan was, as always, laying around on his hill. Well, technically it wasn't his hill because that would mean going through all the trouble of buying the land, going against the mayor and all that shit. He really couldn't be bothered and it wasn't in his nature to start arguments or anything of the sort. So it wasn't his hill, sure. But he'll be damned if it wasn't part of his territory. No one approached the hill. It was a rule whispered amongst the lowest rungs of society, working it's way up to it's highest. If you approached the hill, you better be sure that you have a damn good reason. Or you were Victoria then in that case he will hide and run from you. "Troublesome woman..." He sighed before taking a small drag of his homegrown marijuana. He felt himself relax, his muscles tight from kendo went loose.
The stars stared at him, twinkling in the sky. The only illumination came from embers and the lone light on top of his hill, a light that worked around fifty percent of the time. For most people, lying in the park at night, in Millbrook of all places, would spell disaster. For a monster like him? No one would dare. 'Ugh, too much thinking.' He turned his head towards the bokken lying next to him, grabbing it and pulling it closer to him. He then stuffed his hand into his pocket, bringing his earphones to his ears and felt the adrenaline course through him as the daunting sound of Beethoven Symphony No. 5 activated his power. The world slowed, the sound of the occasional car passing by uttering a low, gutterak growl. He watched as a bird took off from the park bench, spreaduing it's wings and beating up into the air. He listened to the sound of his own, deep breathing. Unfortunately for him, he turned the music up a little too loud, not noticing soft feet touhing the grass a few feet behind him.
Given how beautiful the night had been so far there was another individual who couldn't help but go out and enjoy such a lovely night. That individual was Alexis Flint. She loved midnight walks, nature, stars, and really anything that could be considered beautiful. On this particular night and walk she had ended up at the park. It seemed really peaceful at night andd soothing. That was when she had noticed a man on the hill. Admittedly it seemed like a nice spot so who would Alexis be to ignore such a great opportunity? So she leisurely continued on towards the hill.
When Alexis arrived on the hill she noticed the guy had been smoking, plus he had some earphones in his ears so that explained why he hadn't noticed her yet. She had considered just sitting next to him but that might make things awkward, so instead she kneeled down and stared at him as she slowly leaned over into his sightline and waved at him while smiling. A nice simple greeting, that hopefully wouldn't startle the man too much.
Donovan wasn't expecting company. I mean, what kind of airhead didn't know that this was the hill that you don't approach. Let alone go on the actual fucking hill! His eyes widened, jaw go slack. This girl couldn't be any more than sixteen, he couldn't even bring himself to bonk her on the head. As her bright, wide eyes literally shone light on his face, he looked away, lightly blushing before mumbling quietly "Why are you here? Mother sent you?"
Giggling slightly in response Alexis shook her head. "Well I don't recall anyone telling me I should tell you anything, but I thought I might join you up here. After all it's a beautiful night, and it seems like a nice spot to enjoy it." The guy had to be at least twenty and he was worried about his mother? Curiously funny. Though he didn't sound worried, more annoyed. Yup it would definitely be funny.
To say the he wasn't relieved that it wasn't one of his mother's messengers would be saying that Dononvan wasn't a bloody drug addict. He let out a sigh of relied and turned his head towards the girl, now known to him as an absolute airhead. He quirked an eyebrow, a small smirk on his lips. "You don't know the reputation that this hill has, don't you?" It sounded arrogant but it was a silly question. She should know, right?
Alexis couldn't help but blink a few times frowning in confusion. "Reputation? Why did my father make a speech here or something and it's a big deal now or something ridiculous like that? I hope not...That would be just ridiculous!" At the thought of this Alexis couldn't help but laugh a bit at her own thoughts. Other than her father making a really bad speech here and now it was bad luck to stand there, what other reputation could a hill have?
If this was an anime, this would be the perfect sweatdrop moment. Does she not notice anything going around her at all? She must either be a complete airhead or someone's who's been sheltered all their life because this was just ridiculous. Hasn't she seen the bloodied, bruised and beaten bodies strewn across the grass, all of them thugs from the Davidsons or the Edmunds. He snorted before locking eyes with her, deep and sharp meeting bright and wide. He let himself smirk even wider before shaking his head. "Ya really dont know, do you? Stories about an unapproachable hill, guarded by some lazy Montgomery son? The bloodied and beaten bodies of thugs strewn on the grass, beaten by the same guy." He winked at her.
"That's me." He jerked a thumb to himself before pointedly looking at the bokken by his side.
Looking around and actually taking in more of her surroundings Alexis scratched her head before after a good few moments closing her eyes and chuckling a little bit. "Sorry, never heard of ya before, well not specifically you." Alexis continued laughing for a moment before calming down. "My father does tend to rant about your family though. So I guess in a way I know of you somewhat if that helps any?" Alexis offered trying to make up for not having a clue about any hill story she should've heard apparently.
Another sweatdrop moment. This girl... was almost as troublesome as his mother. But in a completely different way. "Troublesome woman." He muttered under his breath, smirk widening. This was almost entertaining. Someone who didn't know who he was? This was an amusing situation to be in. He patted the ground next to him, giving a small smile. "Then you do know me. Donovan Montgomery, son of a troublesome woman and a father who kind of looks like me."
Smiling wider for a moment Alexis took a seat next to Donovan. He was definitely an interesting person. Definitely had a tad bit of arrogance and self pride, but that was always good to see a bit of that in a person who had some self confidence. "Well Donovan, I'm Alexis, Alexis Flint. It's a pleasure to meet you. So tell me, why this hill of all places?" Donovan had intrigued her greatly with this funny hill obsession and curiousity had gripped Alexis interest once more.
Alexis Flint huh? That name sounded bells in his mind but Don couldn't pinpoint where he heard it. Shrugging off the thoughts, he gazed upwards. Against the inky blackness of space, the stars shone as bright as ever. He began to speak in a soft voice, the words like smoke escaping the confines of their chimney. "The stars. This hill has one of the clearest views in the whole of Millbrook. It's absolutely beautiful in every single way. How the clouds crawl by during the day, casting a shadow beneath it's humongous presence. How inferior we look against their presence in the blue sky." With each word, his voice became softer and softer. "And then the stars. How they shine brighter everyday, how they are billions of years away but still have the manners to show themselves. That is why I go to this hill."
He propped himself up and looked away from the vast darkness, setting his eyes on Alexis. "Absolutely beautiful in every single way." He murmured quietly. The silence was deafening.
Finally looking up at the stars Alexis sighed in contentment. Donovan was right, the stars always seemed to shine more beautifully every night, and this spot was definitely one of the best places for it. "Maybe I'll have to come out here tomorrow and paint the sky. Would you care to join me?" Alexis offered still looking up at the sky smilling cheerfully. She was either overly unaware, or overly cheerful and happy with her life. From an outside point of view it would probably always be hard to tell, and could even make her look like an idiot. But honestly she was just content with living life.
Donovan usually wasn't this confident. It took all his willpower to keep his cool to say that comment and keep talking. He usually wasn't this arrogant as well. And then she either blew him off or was that much of an airhead. He shook his head and with a smile he replied "That would be lovely. But for now, would you care to join me in chilling on this fine hill? The grass is soft." For emphasis, he laid back, hands behind his back and let the chilly, evening air relax him. He then presented himself as a pillow, winking at Alexis.
"Huh?" She blinked a couple of time and looked back down at Donovan before finally smiling and laying back with him. "Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt, though you know, normally I'd make you buy me dinner first." Alexis teased as she snuggled against him slightly smiling as she looked at him once more before going back to looking up at the stars. So maybe she wasn't as clueless as she let on, but it'd be no fun if she just acted like everyone else!
"I'll take that as a 'yes, I'd love to date you Donovan'." He smirked before squeezing her under his arm, returning his gaze towards the bright stars up above. Absolutely beautiful.
Definitely vomit in my case ;). Also, her Dad will be piiiiiissseeedd.
