@babbysama Maire would be all about supporting Odo...but not at the expense of alienating his father. She might try to persuade Dunlad to let his son take a more active role in leading the clan's gallocmen, which would cause tension between Odo and Eliz. And Maire is definitely still interested in having Clan Andal's fate tied to Clan Aonghus'. The tighter the better. I do agree, however, that there's a lot of shit going on. I feel like we've careened from one disaster to the next without much breathing room. Which leads me into...

@Mardox Maybe a respite IS what we need. Time to train more warriors, figure out a way to improve our clan's magic, and deal with the aftermath of the raid. And solidify some alliances.

I guess I'm on the fence. Character-wise, Maire could definitely be convinced not to support a counterattack on Clan Greenfeather, but they are a threat to the clan. Any threats to the clan should be dealt with as quickly as possible. As far as the Children are concerned, she'd be leery about limiting ourselves to no counterattacks at all just for free healing. We can pay the price easily, thanks.

Something I'll note, by the by:

1. You guys need more gallocmen. You've lost several over the course of these disasters, so replenishing your numbers is important.

2. You might want to consider using kerns to replace gallocmen, and thralls to replace kerns.

3. Finally, remember that turning one type of villager into another costs an action.

You could also go recruiting.

I know we can pay easily, but I'm thinking we can get the Children to like us a bit more if we bide our time before raiding the living daylights out of Greenfeather when our forces are built up.

@Jangel13 we got the reputation of using orcs and poison, our reputation is already done for.

Our problems can be solved using greenfeather money.

Guys, I say we beat them in battle and force them to pay tribute.

screw the reputation we need to do things for our people not for our own pride. we won that all we need what we need to take our chance and heal up to prepare for whenever we get raided again

@Wernher True. And we already have a stigma attached to us due to the whole 'Some of us tried to kill the high king' issue.

I still think we can "present" a nice, wholesome front while also behaving ruthlessly and doing whatever it takes to survive. Really, that's the point. Would going back home be nice? Gods, yes, but that doesn't happen if our clan is destroyed.

@Lexicon I think supporting Odo and causing him to dislike Eliz (a view his father shares and which he also probably harbors) would be interesting. Especially since, as Shorticus pointed out, we've lost gallocmen and need to bolster our ranks---I think that offers, or would in Maire's mind, a good opportunity to gain some leverage over Eliz and some power amongst the gallocmen. Of course, Eliz will probably have something up her sleeve.

The rivalry between you two is increasingly turning out to be one of my favorite parts of the RP lol

@Shorticus A quick question before I run back to work: has the sweetgrass taken effect yet? Giving us more cows and whatnot?

@Babbysama Would Dunlad be willing to forgive Maire if she did that, though? Maire needs allies on the Council too. And I'm glad you're enjoying it lol.

@LexiconI mean, it depends on how smoothly you pull it off. You could either do it underhandedly or talk to Dunlad about it directly. That would probably be the best way to propitiate him and gain a definitive ally in him (not that he isn't already, but moreso ya dig). Maybe we could write an IC post about the Maire and Odo thing and also elaborate further on the alliance proposal to Clan Andal? I am, however, going to postpone the marriage offer with Andal to next season, because I think that's what Dunlad would do. The tula is fucked at the moment; the least thing he'd want to do is to leave. Dunlad's a good-intentioned and wordworking, but dull and unambitious man. He's not for brilliant gambits, but for sticking with what he knows and what he's seen has worked. Would our reputation hamper a marriage proposal I wonder? The other clan (V something, can't be arsed to looked) seemed to be interested in getting to know us.

@Babbysama Oh yeah. Maire's intelligent enough to know not to go around Dunlad on this. Odo is his son. So, no, don't worry about that. Maire would ask Dunlad first and probably outline her proposal as a way of wresting control of the warriors away from Eliz. Or at least convincing the gallocmen it might be in their best interests to follow Titania or Ardghal or literally ANYONE else lol. As far as the Clan Andal marriage alliance, that's totally fine. Fiona Brennus has five daughters, and only the youngest one isn't old enough to be married off. Once Maire persuades Serhiem to talk to Fiona about this, I'm sure she'd be more than willing to use these four girls to secure alliances with at least four more clans. Andal, Vendari, and whoever else. Hell, Maire would probably be open to marrying a man from another clan herself if it meant that clan would be bound to Clan Aonghus.

One more note before I start playing a vidya game about violence and stuff to get my peace-mind on:

I'm probably gonna be VERY busy over the next couple weeks. Two papers to write (albeit short ones), a post to make in another thread (I've stretched "tomorrow" into "a week or so" already), allergies from lawn work (I seriously think I'm allergic to grass), a final exam (or maybe two)... Yeah.

I SHOULD be able to update the thread this weekend, but it may be delayed 'til Monday like it was this week. I'll be shooting for Sunday.

And remember: if anyone finds themselves feeling really busy as well, you can miss a week without any pressure, easy. Your missed action will be carried over to the next turn.

As usual, I'd much prefer to receive your actions both IC and OOC, but if you can only manage to inform me OOC, I understand.
