Is @Saffirra Dusk could receive Moonblade does that mean i could receive Charon's claw? Moon blade was a powerful weapon in the books just like Charon's claw was for Artimas Entreri.. weapons like these i thought would be of limits..

Hmph... never heard of Moonblade.. as long as it does close to the same thing as Celestia or Nightmare I am fine with it..

In time, perhaps. We shall see.

.... I thought Pally's got a feat at level two..... *sigh* I am going to have to get used to this new set up... it is going against so many things that I have learned and liked in the original DDO...

@VKAllen
Alright, I've read through the backlog of posts, and would like to share my thoughts on many of the things said.

Firstly, congratulations on getting your first gametogether, that alone is already an impressive hurdle to take.

now, let's move on to matters of game mechanics. this concerns @Saffirra Dusk and@Sionnie as well, so i'll tag them in this post.

Making your own magical items is quite a difficult balancing act. for example, those two bastard swords, celestia and nightmare... what will the stats on those be? will they just have a high to hit bonus? custom enchantments? what would thos custom enchantments do? would what those custom enchantments do make non-martial classes less powerful in the geran scheme of things.

For a more concrete example, let's take that mezmer dagger. How exactly does it make you harder to hit? does it give a -2 to hit? or disadvantage? does this effect always activate or only against one enemy at a time? Remember that disadvantage basically requires you to make two succesfull rolls to be able hit anything at all.

I'm not saying making custom magical items shouldn't be done. but I am saying it's something that takes careful consideration.

Also, on the matter of allowing @Bigg Slamm to start with two axes... the starter equipment isn't a straitjacket, I'm pretty sure allowing someone to start with other equipment than what the rules suggest probaby won't break the game.

Breaking things up because I'll now be adressing DDO, feats, and writing your backstory in a tabletop game.

firstly, DDO. to compare DDO to 5th edition D&D is a fools errand. DDO was a heavily adapted version of 3.5E, which was itself miles away from 5E. Feats were of a much different scope back then, which segues me into my next point.

Feats in 5E have moved much more to the realm of optional build choices. in past edition, feats like power attack, weapon focus and waht have you were downright required for some classes, that way of doing things has been cut out and replaced with a system that gives you less feats in total, but where feats have a noticeable and interesting effect on gameplay. Of course there will still be useless feats, such has been since the advent of Tabletop RPGs and will always be that way .

Now on to my final point, writing a backstory for a tabletop rpg. I have seen a mix of good and bad practices from everyone here so far. You have some freedom in making generic points in your backstory like 'parents killed by griffin' and such. What is not all that ok however, is making assumptions that, for example, entire swathes of the setting are dominated by virulent tiefling racism. Sure, the rules state tieflings are rather distrusted by the general populace. But the way i've seen it described is more a mob with torches and pitchforks reaction rather than the implied universal cold shoulder the rules gives us.

Also, feel free to leave some strategic holes in your backstory for the GM to fill in. Using my own character as an example, I've said he's a suspected bastard from a minor noble family. I've left the details of the matter purposefully vague so the GM can expand upon it on their own accord if they ever feel inclined to do so.

well then, if anyone wants any clarification to the points I made, feel free to ask me either here in the OOC or in a PM. I'll now be waiting for a GM post.

@Natsucooldude About sionnie's bio. I have offered to have it changed more than once for the Gm in which it has been refused... In almost every setting drow, half – orc,and tiefling have not been well recieved by the other races and yet had it been a problem that I assumed it would be the same here I offered to fix it multiple time in each I was told " NOTHING NEEDS TO BE CHANGED“. This leads me to believe the the setting here for tiefling is simular to forgotten realms and the other settings. So forgive if I am rude but your statement seems redundant. If the Gm has a problem with the way sionnie is received I will change it but thus far this offer has been declined every time. This leads me to think that you personally are the only one who dislikes my tiefling. I really do not know why but I want to fix that!

The highlighted statement above proved my assumption further because when a half -orc walks in a city the are typically snickered at and given a cold shoulder, and a dark elf (read legend of Drizzt) typicaly given the coldshoulder and constantly turned away, but as you just said tiefling are typically welcomed by a mob with intent to kill them for no better reason than the have horns! With your statement I could assume that not only is there racism towards tiefling but it is even more violent for them than any other race! And here i thought Dark Elves had it the hardest...

Secondly sionnie leaves plenty of her backstory undiscovered.. We know she was abducted when young and horribly experimented on. But by who? Why? I said they wanted to bring out the demon in her blood, to unlock hidden infernal power, but why? What do they have to gain? Maybe it was the Cult of Ashmordie.. That might make since but who really knows what our Gm might come up with. Sionnie does not even remember where she is from or her last name, or even her parents who could still be out there and alive.. Sionnie is one mystery to solve after another, if the Gm wants us to discover her past.. Then he may set up an adventure for her. But I think there is plenty to work with right here..

@Natsucooldude And i work on the Mezmer concept to create a lvl 6 weapon we though might be approved and now i would like to propose the Dagger Mezmer to you @VKAllen.
Mezmer creates the impairment when the blade make contact with their blood. Those who are cut fall subject to an optical illusion. I would describe the release technique as something like a trump card. Up and down, left and right as well as forward and backward are reversed. However, it is not just the sense of direction that is changed; the opponent's eyesight, direction of incoming attacks, and injury locations are also inverted. However it does need a weakness. So we thought it should only effect one Mob at a time.

The exact mechanics i still do not quite understand so yeah, but if needed @Natsucooldude new just how to limit it and nerf it down for single combat!

alright, I'll put some crunch on it.

Mezmer is a masterwork enchanted dagger. Upon a succesfull attack, the user may as a free action, attempt to befuddle the mind of their target. This effect is a wisdom save at DC 18. Succesful save ends. Affected creatures gain disadvantage on all attack rolls. This enchantment cannot affect more than one creature at once. It can be used five times per 24 hours. If a target succesfully makes a save against the effect, they cannot be affected again for the next 24 hours.

Only to user of the Dagger because the creature affected reacts to the Dagger's magic (to put flavour in it).
