Humans unfortunately do not live on Earth anymore, instead they live on a moon called Awilix that orbits the dead planet known only as Husk. The planet Earth was abandoned almost 500 years earlier after the discovery of a new energy, an energy known simply as Lunos.
The Discovery of Lunos
During the early 21st century the Earth witnessed a unique cosmic event in the form of Lunosity's Comet, a celestial body that passed by our home planet for the first time during mankind's existence. During this comet's orbit it resonated with an energy that triggered a change within the human genome, granting magic like abilities and allowing people to control the very elements around them. Eventually these abilities were dubbed the name Lunos, a tribute to the comet itself, and everyone viewed it as the next step of human evolution.
As the years went on a startling discovery was made. The human race was gradually becoming infertile, a fate mankind was unable to escape since it was embedded within the very core of their DNA thanks to the introduction of Lunos. If nothing was done soon, the human race would become extinct.

The Migration to Husk & Awilix
In a desperate attempt the leaders of Earth all agreed that staying on this tomb of a planet was simply not an option and that the entire species had to leave for the stars and find the origin of Lunosity's comet in order to see if there was a way to find a cure and reverse it's dire effects. Any normal species at this point would be extinct but humanity survived this long by growing humans and allowing for one's conscious to be placed within a new body when their old one became weak. This proved effective but due to the slow nature of the procedure not every human psyche was able to obtain a new body but instead had to be placed on a waiting list. At first many billions of lives were lost but this eventually stabilised to a number of around 9 million people. In addition to this, 300,000 minds have been placed within humanoid robots or stasis tanks so that they can wait for their new body to reach maturity, an advanced technique that was only achieved only in the past one hundred years.

While it might seen like a planet that should be left alone, it's exposed inner layers has allowed for easy mining of metal ore, fossil fuel and even the occasional Gemstone. These Gemstones can be quite rare and the best quality ones are usually the size of a golf ball.

This condensed mega-city was built to surround a large, towering drop-pod; which these days acts like a hub for business and trade rather than a transport vessel. The city is positioned so it continually has a perfect view of it's parent world throughout the day and night, using Husk's rotational cycle to give humans a similar time frame that they were used to back on Earth.

The Events of Current
At this point in time it is unknown when humans will make their next leap in space towards the origins of Lunosity's Comet. For the time being however they are living among the other, occasionally dangerous, wildlife of Awilix. Several ancient ruins and crash sites have been spotted around the moon as well, leaving many to wonder if another intelligent life form used to occupy this lonely planet. This fact seems to be reinforced by the recent disappearance of a scout ship, but it is unknown whether the two are completely related.
Adding to this turn of events is the rising accusations that the Leaders within the city are starting to loose focus on society's best interest through the use of cutting government funding and oppression. These accusations however stem from a radical group called The Children of Umbra, a terrorist organisation who has risen up over the last decade.

Lunos Variations
Lunos powers can come in many different and unique varieties. A person however is only able to specialise in one ability as it is linked in with their genome. While casting, the iris of the Lunos user will glow a vibrant gold.
- Acid
The ability to instantly oxidize and corrode any metal through the use of touch. Technique can sometimes create toxic gasses depending on the type of metal corroded, however the user is not immune to any released poisons. One unique trait of an Acid user is that they have the ability to remove any impurities within a raw Gemstone, making it easier for Crystal Lunos users to charge them. - Climate
An ability that allows the control of fire and ice. By touching an object they can lower it's temperature to below freezing point, or increase it's temperature to cause combustion. The further the temperature is pushed away from the ambient temperature, the more strain on the body the individual will experience. - Crystal
The ability to charge up gemstones (Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, etc) in a way that they can be used as either a light source or an energy supplement. Charged gemstone can be used to power electronics and machinery, or by other Lunos users. Overcharged gemstone will explode with any sudden shock, making them viable grenades. - Fading
A form of teleportation where the user can relocate their body up to about a kilometre away from their origin point. Using the ability will leave a ghost like impression of where they last stood before shifting location. After three fades the individual will experience excessive fatigue and must take a break or recharge their three uses through the use of a Charged Gemstone. - Gravity
The ability to rise into the air and float in apparent defiance of gravity. Using a Charged Gemstone will allow individuals to control the gravity of objects around their immediately vicinity as well. Prolong use can cause dizzyness and disorientation. - Healing
The unique ability to reverse wounds on another individual or self, however the Lunos energy used draws its strength off the user's life force, giving healers a much shorter than expected lifespan. Using a Charged Gemstone will allow a healer to draw energy from the Gemstone instead of their own life force. - Tech
The ability for an individual to project their conscious into a single machine. Tech Lunos users are also the only ones able to control a humanoid robot when their conscious does not have a living body to return to. If this is the case then a Tech Lunos user must use a Charged Gemstone in order to project their conscious into a new machine or available new body. - Clairvoyance - (GM only ability)
The ability to see time through a different point of view. Users are able to see past, present and future events all at once and at any given point but are only allowed to see the time differences in the vicinity of which they stand. Since this ability is so taxing on the human psyche Clairvoyance users have become very rare, ironically almost to the point of extinction. This isn't helped by the how Charged Gemstone caused many users to not only witness their own death, but experience the pain associated with it as well.

Advances in Weaponry
Due to the increasing need to have humans on both Husk and Awilix a Planetary Carrier was built to carry minerals and personnel between the two locations. This vessel can house over 10,000 occupants when not used for transporting cargo and runs on a regular shuttle trip between the two locations. During a day it can make up to three or four trips, only stopping when it needs to empty it's cargo and refuel.
Land Bike
Unicycle Bikes became a very popular item within the limits of The Landing due to the condensed nature of the city. These vehicles seem to appear perfectly balanced, allowing riders to nimbly duck in and out all the alleyways and street while taking up little room when placed within storage.
Wasp
For fast transport around the city and to various locations on Awilix, a Wasp will be your first choice. These flyers are a single pilot vehicle that is not only nimble but extremely fast. The downside of this is that they are not very useful for much more than scouting and are costly to manufacture, meaning your general civilian will be less likely to own one.
Hauler
The second type of flyer that can be seen in the skies are the larger Haulers. They are typically used for transporting large cargo as their powerful engines can easily lift several tonnes of weight. It takes a minimum of two people to fly one and can house three additional passengers. Unlike the Wasp, Haulers are a lot slower.
Robots & Stasis Tanks
The introduction of Robots and Stasis Tanks came as a godsend to mankind. For the first time humans were able to store away the consciousness of an individual and allow the body growing procedure to be placed under less stress for fears of loosing more of it's populous. Of the people that have their conscious stored away, the Tech Lunos users can opt to have their conscious placed within a robot body. This choice allows them to still help out society but at the cost of being unable to use their Lunos.
Advances in Weaponry
Gunpower firearms are simply a thing of the pass with most guns operating through the more reliable Gauss system. The electromagnets within the gun allow shots to be fired more precisely, with faster speed and less wear and tear on the device. Laser and plasma weapons have also made their advances but are generally difficult to obtain. Too often a cheaply build energy gun or melee weapon will malfunction or overuse run out of juice with the more advanced ones relying more on Charged Gemstones than typical batteries.
