Once again, something caught my eye. I'm on deviantArt, which is a much scarier place to try and find a RP partner with (you'd think the site name would have stopped me off, huh?). Anyways, while I was scrolling through requests I saw that people wanted to roleplay as famous YouTubers (Markiplier, Pewdiepie, etc.). Additionally, I recall seeing someone wanting to RP the employees of RoosterTeeth (long story short, the idea of Burnie×Gus made me throw up in my mouth... a lot) on here a few years back, when I first joined RPG.

My question for the people here: what are your thoughts on RPing as real life people? As in, people who are alive or were alive a short time ago (ie- Obama or Michael Jackson). Let's bar historical figures (past presidents, war heroes, royalty, etc.) and focus on modern people (say, playing as Gibbs from NCIS vs. playing as his actor, Mark Harmon).

There's an entire community on Twitter where people RP as famous people, but then Twitter has lots of communities. As far as RPing as real life people goes I don't think there's anything wrong with it. RP comes in all shapes. It might seem strange because it's less someone creating a character with a faceclaim of a real person and more just...a fictionalized version of a real person but it's practically the same thing.
