Grandcastrum is the foundation in this land. It is the overseer and the Guardian. One day there was a force that unleashed on the land. They were the Jin. The Jin were forced out of their homeland by the Eskaba, a normally peaceful clan but has recently been causing problems with their enormous army. The Jin invaded with full force they charged across the vally and rushed the walls of Grandcastrum. At first they got the upper hand but as the fight drew on Grandcastrum started gaining back land. Eventually they were pushed back to a few establishments on the Western border and were left there so that Grandcastrum's army could be rebuilt and reinforced with new members. So the annual draft of Boys and Men was established. Every year there is a competition for everyone in Grandcastrum territory to compete. Only the best are recruited and then the recruits are grouped up for Quests and Missions. You are a part of the annual draft this year and you look promising.

Hm. I have questions here. This is all a bit vague. I suggest, to keep things simple, you establish some classes, then let people to pick from them. It'll be easier to keep track of, because you can just make a roster. I assume we're all humans? I would prefer humans only.
Also, what the heck is a Catalyst?

Class(desc. if needed): Swordsman/Knight
Personality: Matt is confident and at times cocky. He is never rude, always shows respect to elders, and wipes his boots at the door before going inside. He wants desperately to be as strong, if not stronger, than his uncle, even if it means risking life and limb, though he does know when to draw the line. If you need a friend, ally or "tank," Matt is up for it.
Bio: Nothing of note. His mother and father are both farmers of reasonable standing, and both are still alive. His uncle was a well-known knight in the army with a long record of victories. He trained Matt as a swordsman to prepare him in case he were drafted. His parents didn't really approve of Matt going to war, but they were honest folk and weren't going to help him get out of it if he were picked. Sure enough, he was. Now retired, his uncle passed on his sword: the Warbear. A blade with a mind of its own, Matt has yet to tame it fully. As of now, he can only access a fraction of its power, but since receiving it six months ago he has been training hard to wield it like a man.
Weapons/Catalysts: Warbear. A giant one-edged sword with a diamond blade and rubber-grip handle, containing a powerful 'swordspirit.' It can give him advice and increase the power of the weapon, but it's rather bitter about being retired and passed on to someone else, having served with Matt's uncle for so long. The sword can make itself heavier or lighter than it actually is, move on its own, duplicate itself, glow in the dark, and (according to his uncle) take a humanoid form to fight alongside its wielder, though Matt has never seen it happen himself. The swordspirit can speak, and it has an extensive knowledge of the land and history of the world, though it rarely shares its knowledge.
-Note- The sword is not going to be OP. Maybe later on it can show more power, but for now the only thing it does is speak and make itself weigh more or less. The swordspirit's text will be brown and his voice will sound a bit like Liam Neeson.
Anything Noteworthy: Matt can throw a knife with relative accuracy, sense danger before he sees it (a "sixth sense" of sorts), and knows how to treat injuries in battle. He can also do a few card tricks.
I want to leave the classes open to everyones style so i dont want to restrict it at all.
And yes all humans.

1. I'd like for the blade to speak audibly. It'd make conversing more interesting, and they could get into arguments, to the amusement of anyone nearby. 2. It can move for itself and take human form "according to legend," or "in Uncle's stories," then. I wasn't planning on let it do either of those IC anyway. 3. The duplication would be a duplicate of the exact same sword, like a twin, but I can leave it out entirely because I don't want two talking swords. It can be another "according to legend." 4. 100% of the time, then. But, you know, faintly. Not enough to be a torch or a flashlight. The glow is a brown-tan color (like a brown/grizzly bear).
I'd like to add a Magic Satchel to his...uh...clothing? He carries a brown leather Magic Satchel with (his Inventory) in it.
@MatthiasAngel Okay but the sword talks softly so that from afar it looks like he is carrying out an argument with a sheet of metal. all of the other stuff will me "according to legend" and the glow will be a dull brown :) I think im going to give us squires to carry our stuff and sometimes even help us fight, however if you still want your magic bag it will have to be a long descended magic wonder that a great wizard in your family once made. sound good?
@Framing A Moose It is to no god but rather the forces of Faith. Talismans are used as Catalysts to miracles just like in Dark Souls I- The religion/Faith aspect is focused on Physical recovery/harm without damage (such as a knockback miracle) while sorcery is more of a damage and harmful magic that uses staves as catalysts and does serious damage if used correctly.

I've never played any of the Dark Souls games, but I think I understand what you're getting at. A religion focussing on a force of nature rather than a godly figure.

Miracles seem to come from no-where so... like Air-bending... i guess... for the knock back... the best way to describe it is like an invisible brick wall that protrudes from you in all directions... then you have healing abilities which you "pray" to the talisman and a Runic circle will form around you and all allies inside the circle will recover equivalent to the strength of the Miracle

Okay...what would one be "praying" to? I guess what I'm asking is who or what would a cleric worship?

I was kind of thinking about something like the Force in Star Wars. It's not a being, but it's still worshipped (in a way). It aids its followers by acting miracles.
@Framing A Moose Yessssss there you go! but the Catalyst cant be your hand like it is in those movies... it has to be a Talisman of some sorts and you have to take a pause to "summon" the force so that is isent OP like it is in star wars... see what i mean?
