rebuilt and restored civilization.

No continuity, then? The world wasn't destroyed and only some survived and kept going, a la Fallout, but rather was destroyed, reduced to primitivism, and then rebuilt anew and progressed to the 1950's or so all over again?

@The Nexerus About right. The Cataclysm threw humanity back to the Iron Age, forcing us to rebuild from scratch up till we reach this retrofuture-esqe setting.

How long did that process take, from the second, apocalypse-induced Iron Age back to the current era? It seems weird that national identities from before the cataclysm have still survived, unless we're talking about a very short amount of time.

@Sigma Ok, I got an aircraft for ya, the F-66. It'll be readily available for you to start with.

And from my gathering, Most history was lost.. but obviously some had to survive to form the basis of certain ideals like with my nation. I doubt anyone would ever know the full scope and scale of what the world was but mere fragments of the past. The NAU, although it has certain base documents that made the core of its operating system, there is no record of who they fought, what the world was really like.. etc etc.

Nation sheet wise: changed Franco-Iberia from being covertly allied to the NAU to the USHR instead, seeing as it would make much more sense for the the Franco-Iberian political system to seek to maintain secrecy of this sort of union rather than with another, similarly democratic state whose real-life parallels practically modeled their governments after each other.

@The Nexerus
The first Three Centuries was a period known as the "Age of Darkness", where humanity had lost access to electronics technology and for a while, and descended into barbarism. By the end begun the "Hundred Year War" In which several armies led by men and women who sought to rebuild civilization led campaigns of conquest, establishing the "Founder Kingdoms" by the end, some semblance of civilization rearing in. Jump start fifteen hundred years later, the kingdoms may have fallen, but in their place were new countries that would carry the mantel of civilization.

And to note, the Apocalypse started in the 23rd Century.

@The Nexerus Correct, plenty of time for us to reach to this point, at least I hope so that it makes some sense.

I feel like it would make a lot more sense to just stick closer to how things went about in Fallout, which is obviously this RP's inspiration. After the cataclysm, things were mostly primitive for maybe a hundred years or so, but as the world became more livable, people rediscovered and/or adapted the technology of the old world. That would let you skip past the whole "fifteen hundred years of reinventing the wheel" thing.

@The Nexerus Thanks for the option :) but I prefer something like this, skip the whole blasted out ruins and rebuilding bit and take a good look on how a restored world and it's new history.

If that's your goal, why even bother having it take place on Earth? And if the whole point is for the world to be completely reconstituted, why and how are almost all nations just weirdly politically structured, imperialist versions of the modern day nation-states? This seems more like alternate history but in the future, rather than a post-apocalypse.

Ok, so since you changed our entire history like that, what is our updated status? is the nations still good friends? allies? gotta communicate with me here.

Pre-history is imperative for an nrp that is past the whole first contact stage.

Sorry for the inactivity.

I don't mean for this to sever ties between the NAU and Franco-Iberia. Instead of having a government dominated by a party itself dominated by a pro-NAU regime, I decided to utilize this opportunity for political intrigue by having the political party in control of much of my nation's government be allied to a nation that might seem better off as an ideological rival, thereby setting the stage for some potentially interesting scenarios regarding arms trading, et cetera. As for your nation, I see no reason why our combined histories should change an awful lot; after all, we seem to be the two democratic superpowers of the world at the moment and it would only make sense for us to be closely bound, both culturally and politically/militarily, without necessitating the inclusion of some backroom politics typically reserved for more controversial and, frankly, interesting international dealings. After all, there is no point for France and the U.S., wether it be of today or during the Korean War, for instance, to not be both allies and rulers of the free world, whereas France getting jet fighters or intercontinental missiles from something like Iran or Russia warranting the use of much stricter and secretive cooperation...

Nex, this is what has been agreed upon, more or less:

See, I had thought a massive undefined event set us back so totally every polity disintegrated into warring tribes and most written information was lost. From there culture evolved by word of mouth even as people forgot the old world, leading to old concepts being bastardized and pre-disaster history becoming mythology. What I'd gleaned from the OP was that it had taken just over a millennium for us to work our way up to the RP and in that time we had a huge history where technology was largely forgotten or seen as magic until it's 'rediscovery' as science began to make sense of what remained allowing us to found the nations we have now.

If you don't like it, then why post? The rest of the players here obviously have no problems with the setting and I HIGHLY doubt the GM is going to alter the entire RP to gratify you.

I am gonna regress my nation's technology again. I feel it is too advanced for the time setting we have agreed upon. I don't mind, of course. I just don't want my small island nation to somehow be more advanced than these enormous empires. Also, any idea on starting plots so we ain't all aimlessely wandering?
