Lucanus Meretrix

Lucanus Meretrix

Appearance:
Standing taller than most men at six fleet flat, his muscular build gives the appearance of a warrior. A glance at his face reveals an unkempt dark gray beard along with green eyes that reveal either kindness or ambition depending on the moment.

An older set of gray dragon scale armor adorns his body, a white surcoat with the cross of Arx being thrown over the armor. The only distinguishing accessory from any other warrior is a copper necklace holding a pendant of a bronze double headed eagle.

Personality:
While he prefers kindness over pain, Lucanas is ambitious. Hypocritical in the sense that he believes in tradition when it benefits him and ignores him when they don't, life is an attempt to claw your way to the top in a world still surrounded by wilderness. Having lived at the bottom rungs of society though, he does have some sympathy for those beneath him, and has a strange sense of honor and loyalty that won't allow him to betray a true friend or cause unnecessary suffering in another.

Backstory:
The son of a whore, Lucanus lived in the slums of Arx off the meager income his mother's occupation provided. Eventually a job with a noble from Vicariis went wrong, and she was left mortally wounded on the streets. Handing her son a necklace, she told him that she would always watch over him, and that he should strive to live a better life.

Eventually the seven year old was picked up by the local guards, and after realizing his status as an orphan trained him to quest for a tower. Sworn into celibacy to avoid attachments to anything but his mission, he trained and exercised constantly in an effort to survive the brutal countryside.

For the past few years as his training has come towards an end, the warrior has lived a life of relative comfort outside of a few unfortunate incidents where local beasts have pressed against the walls.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
Eagle's Eyes: Unsure how it's power was gained, when wearing the necklace the warrior finds his senses are enhanced before something happens, making it nearly impossible to genuinely surprise him from the shadows.

Knightly Training: Going through a lifetime of training for slaying great beasts and patrolling the streets have lead Lucanus to learning how to fight with melee weapons better than the vast majority of the population, preferring to wield hand and a half or two handed weapons.

Equipment:
Gray Dragonscale Armor: Lighter, less expensive, and more comfortable than steel plate, Lucanas has preferred this type of armor since it would be more convenient to wear when expected to travel.
Great Axe: An axe on one side, a hammer at the other, and a spear tip at the end make this an ideal all purpose weapon for slaying larger beasts.
Bastard Sword: A sword that can be wielded with either one hand or two, this sword is the middle ground between a broadsword and the large great axes.

Appearance:
Standing at a tall five foot nine, Maria has bright red hair that falls just below her shoulders and amber colored eyes. She wears a thick cloak, along with a lose dress. Her arms are covered with thin plates of armor, though it's not used for much protection. The cloak she wears is cloaked together with a bright red gem. She wears loose fitting, though easy to move in pants. A dress isn't exactly good for adventuring in. She is normally seen with her bow.

Personality:
On the surface, Maria appears to be a fairly friendly person. Amicable, jovial, and a little on the flirtatiously salacious side. She doesn't seem to take many things seriously. That said, as a noblewoman she is used to certain...luxuries and comforts. Most notably, servants and getting whatever she wants. Disobedience isn't something she is fond of, and while she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty, it'd be better if you offered to take care of it first if you want to get on her good side.

However, if one were to actually get to know her...well. Lets just say there is a slow boiling anger underneath that friendly exterior. It's not to evident at first, though those who pay attention will notice certain...quirks, she has when speaking to some people. Seems to have a particular hate of Heterochromatic slaves.

Backstory:
The supposed daughter of the well known House Vicariis, Maria has lived a more or less pampered life since birth. Taught in all manner of things such as literature, economics, and other academics, along with the skillful use of the bow. Her life was an easy one. Servants, slaves, and all manner of pampering was given to her. While she never exactly liked such things, she has more or less gotten used to it and has developed a certain expectation that others should do as she says.

However, she has become rather...jaded with the pampered lifestyle of the nobility. So, she is going on the next expedition to the tower whether the others approve of it or not. Not that they'd ever object - House Vicariis is quite powerful, and even if she's not the heir nor the head of the house, she has the political power to make the other people in the house cry like a little baby.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
Bow of Ashes:
An Heirloom of House Vicariis, the bow is able to turn ordinary arrows into ones of fire that are able to burn pierce even the strongest of armored hides. It is said in the past, the bow was burned by a dragon but instead of being destroyed, it allowed for a child to slay it with a single, lucky, piercing blow to the beasts head.

Expert Marksman:
Maria has been trained since she was barely able to walk to wield a bow. Her eyesight is as good as bird of prey, and she can hit a mark from quite the distance.

Light as a feather:
Maria is very light on her feet, and is quite nimble allowing for some fairly impressive feats of agility. Couple that with her expert marksmanship, and it makes her a fairly fearsome fighter at mid to long range. Even close range, if she's careful.

First Aid training:
She has basic training in first aid, and can probably help stitch a wound back together if she has too.

Equipment:

- Armor plating that covers her arms and upper torso
- Several quiver full of arrows.
- A dagger, though is hardly ever used.

Appearance:
Eadric is young looking for his age, with a boyish, naive face and bright eyes. His hair is longer, with an unruly strand sticking out in front. He stands at 5’ 10”, and is quite slender. While he isn’t a mountain of a man, he does have an athletic build. When not in armor, Eadric tends to dress more formally than required.

Personality:
Eadric grew up fast, yet he never lost a child-like sense of wonder. Eadric wants only to see as much of the world as possible, and finds the world to be a beautiful place. Despite knowing first hand the cruelty of most of mankind, he sees the best in everyone he meets. Some may call him an optimist. Most would call him a naive fool. Eadric is social, perhaps too talkative. His words are chosen carefully, however, and Eadric is a skilled mediator and communicator.

Backstory:

The Bastard

Eadric was born to a whore and the noble Erebus Iterus. Iterus found out about the pregnancy too late to abort, and to his chagrin the child came out the spitting image of him. Knowing he could not deny that the boy was his, he shamefully acknowledged him and raised him as one of his sons. Eadric lived an almost normal noble life, until his father died. His oldest brother, trueborn of Erebus and his wife, kicked Eadric out of the estate and forced him to take a new name. Eadric shed the Iterus name and took the surname of the bastards in Iteran territory, Sophus. Left with nothing but one of his father’s undesired swords and the clothes on his back, he used his skills to make money guiding trade caravans through the wilderness.

Eadric has lived a fairly maintainable life since then, making a name for himself locally as a skilled adventurer. Eadric wanted more than a life spent guiding caravans, and so he spent his money on armor and supplies and took to the road. He’s just returned from that long journey, but he’s itching to travel again.

Skills and Divine Abilities:

• Swordsman: Knowing that a bastard was not entitled to a comfortable life in the Iteran estate, Eadric spent a good portion of his life training with a sword. He is especially skilled with his sword, Serpentis. Eadric’s style is intended for monsters and beasts, not other armed men. As a result, Eadric can easily slay a mighty beast, but would likely be defeated by any slightly-above-average swordsman.
• Barterer: Being poor most of his life, Eadric became quite skilled at bartering. It is said that he acquired his armor at a quarter of the selling price.
• Adventurer’s eye: Eadric has become quite skilled at identifying monsters and beasts, as well as being able to navigate quite skillfully. His primary source of income is trade caravans who hire him to lead them through the wilds between cities.
• People Person: Eadric is charismatic and exceptionally skilled at communicating and reading body language.

Equipment:

• Serpentis:Fittingly enough, Serpentis is a “hand-and-a-half” sword, often called a “bastard sword”. Heavier and longer than a longsword, but shorter and lighter than a greatsword, Serpentis can be wielded with either one or two hands, dependent on the situation. It is forged of steel and dyed a pale green color. It was the only thing he inherited from his father, and the nicest thing he owns.
• Adventurer’s Armor: The armor worn by Eadric is simple tanned leather, not capable of stopping more than a dagger slash or a weak arrow. However, the chest, forearms, and shins of the armor are covered in a layer of dragon scales. While this gives him significantly more maneuverability than a solid dragonscale plate would, it leaves him vulnerable in the unarmored areas.
• A copper knife:Exactly what it says on the tin. Rarely used as a weapon, the cheap, yet solid, copper knife is for cutting things (like food or fabric) that Serpentis is too unwieldy for.
• Adventurer’s bag: A well-crafted leather satchel with the Iteran Serpent stitched into the side. It holds the odds and ends that Eadric might carry, like money, food, clothes, and other mundane things.

(Just a note here, I find it weird how there's no middle class here. I don't really feel as Albin can fit into any one of the the slots, as he's not noble, nor is he a warrior. Serfs also rent land, so that's a no-no.)

Appearance:
Albin appears as most his age; young, unscarred, and normal. His most notable feature is his hair, which is an extraordinary shade of blonde that fades into a teal. Though, it is not natural. He accidentally bleached his hair while trying to create a polish for his blade. He stands at 5'9" tall and is of a slender build. His eyes are hazel, causing them to be more of a yellow colour, if anything. He tends not to wear armour, as his greatest asset is how fast he can run away. His clothing consists of anything warm and comfortable.

Personality:
Albin tends to be rather impulsive. Because of this, his emotions tend to change on a whim. Not like he was actually feeling the emotions that he acts out; he thinks it's more about getting his point across.

His interests really only include craftsmanship and metals. He wants to uncover the secrets of metal, especially steel. He's rather one-track minded in this aspect; he's usually more interested in proper care of weaponry than actually using the weapons themselves. He also tends to be absent-minded and oblivious at times, being unable to see or understand any minute details one may show.

Backstory:
Albin never quite knew his father, nor his mother. He never had the opportunity of meeting them. Or, at least, remembering meeting them. Albin was raised by the various craftsmen and their families . In return, he helped them with whatever they needed, such as helping on the forge, making weaponry for soldiers, fixing armour, and any other odd jobs a young boy could do. As such, the craftsmen gave him the name of de Forgia, as to show his upbringing by the community.

As he grew up, he slowly became more and more bored with the standard process of blacksmithing and creating craftworks. Copper was pretty much the only metal usable for the average smith. He became more and more interested in the properties of copper. However, his research within the walls had only gotten so far. He began to desire to leave the walls to create the strongest metal. Or, at least try to prove his half-cocked theories true.

On Albin's 16th birthday, began his plan. Using the various gifts given to him by other craftsmen, he worked on his sword. After a year and multiple failed attempts later, he made a workable sword. Though, it was rather curved. Still, it was a nice sword. One of the smiths managed to get a small amount of steel, to which Albin's heart began to pound. Whatever the metal was, he really liked it. He managed to stick it on the back end of his sword, helping it's durability significantly.

For the next year, Albin trained his combat skill. However, the curved blade didn't really work for any standard sword fighting strategy. He instead chose to draw the sword as fast as he could. The curved blade helped it and Albin decided that drawing the sword would be the one thing that he focused on.

After another year, Albin could strike fast by drawing the blade and attacking at the same time. Not quite the best strategy, but still useful. However, after all this training, the blade of the sword turned out to be quite dull and not as lustrous as it used to be. The next month or so was experimenting with various ways to clean the blade. Albin managed to create a nice substance to polish up his blade (after he repaired it, of course). While putting the mixture away, it managed to fall directly on his head.

When he had awoken, his scalp had been mildly burned, and his hair turned a strange colour. Albin didn't quite care, though. He thought he looked pretty nice. All trained up, he was ready for the adventure to find new metals.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
The Heart of Dragons
Albin has a sixth sense. Whenever he comes close to rare metals of any type, his heart rate begins to quicken. Additionally, he can turn a palm-sized rock into a flake of steel and a lot of dust by pressing his hands on it as hard as he can. Not that that's useful, anyways. It's much more of a parlour trick, if anything.

Craftsman
Due to his upbringing, Albin can repair various tools while inside of the dungeon. He also has an extensive knowledge of proper care for weaponry, armour, and tools. He also has a wide general knowledge on herbs, rocks, and metals.

The Drawing Sword
Due to Albin training only one specific skill in case he needed the ability to fight, he learned how to draw his sword extremely fast while striking at the same time. While this skill is extremely neat looking and strong to start a fight with, he really can't do anything else after drawing his sword.

Good Runner
Albin's second form of fighting; which is coincidentally fleeing. He can run faster than most, which is all that matters (especially in bear attacks).

Equipment:
Albin's Blade
The first good quality blade that Albin created. It is curved and only has one edge that can cut. This allows it to be drawn and swung much easier. Though, it is much more fragile and smaller than normal swords. Made out of mostly copper with a strip of steel across the flat edge, allowing it to not break instantly. Comes with a very ornate sheathe that looks lovely.

Albin's Clothes
They look nice and are warm and comfy. That's about it.

Craftsman's Gear
A belt containing a small and extremely tough hooked knife, a durable hammer, an extremely long length of bowstring, brick and mortar, and other small craftsman tools.

Favourite Food:
Oily bread with lots of herbs in it; an extremely rare treat that is just right.

Kostya Angelov

Kostya Angelov

Appearance:
Kostya's body has been put to the test in the mines and one can clearly see that: He stands at 6"4' and has an impressive, muscular build, however he's put on some fat by excessive eating and drinking as well. His hair has the color of a somewhat faded red that it has in common with the dense beard covering most of his face. He often looks grim, but that's more of a 'default state' of his facial expression than purpose. He appears to be older than he actually is.

Personality:
Kostya is chronically wary. Life's hard and with the wrong attitude it can get even a lot harder, so keep the things in your pockets, have a look around frequently and don't believe what people tell you but what you can actually see. However, he himself would probably be his own arch-enemy: He hates pretty much the entire economical system that allows a few lazy people to live their wasteful lives whilst a majority has to suffer for it. If there would ever be a serious uprising, he would probably join. He became very good at hiding these thoughts and pretending the obedient servant that has accepted his fate a long time ago.

Background:
The Angelov family is quite large, but unsuccessful to a full-scale extent. His mother had gave birth to no less than six children, the first four of them sharing the same father. He died too early to get to know the last two - Kostya and his brother. Not having any monetary reserves, all of them had to menial jobs. Kostya ultimately descended into serfom as he first believed that one would take at least a bit of care of him for not loosing a good worker. It was a misjudgement and it took him many years of his life to work his way out of the mines, though it wasn't the legal way. Having been rather isolated from society during this time, he has lost track of his siblings, and they, whereever they are today, don't seem to be too dedicated in finding him either. Since at least his youngest brother Sasha would be easily identifiable, he assumes that he's dead. What he wants now is to escape the city, since with so many people that could find out who he actually is and report him to the authorities, it has become almost as dangerous as the wilderness outside.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
Bestial trait: As they were young childs, Kostya and Sasha once found a wounded Tak (a vicious flying creature that, despite being carnivorous, doesn't pose a serious threat to humans as it is too small). The two brothers in their childishness simply didn't know what kind of creature they were actually dealing with, but it was somewhat cute and allowed the two childs to approach as it was in a lethargic state. They cosseted it up and - returning to its original routine - it started biting them weakly and finally escaped. The two had collected the damaged and loosened fur of the creature's skin and put it into small metallic vials. They soon found out that as long as they carried them, they were granted some of the creature's speed. This is still true today, and though Kostya did slow down over the years as he became bigger, he can still move and fight at a surprising speed for his size.

Heavyweight: He isn't skilled in weapons, but in a brawl with bare hands he tends to be on the winning side. One can expect his attacks to hit really hard - if he hits that is.

Equipment:
Two-handed hammer: The shaft is thick and wooden, the head is made out of copper with a rather flat side and a pointed other one.
Dragonscale armor: One of the less expensive variants of body armor you can get, especially if you intend to pay flat out nothing for it.
Knife: Rather for common utility than for engaging enemies.
Tiny metallic jar filled with Tak fur, granting him his divine ability.

Leos Bartolomej

Appearance:
Amongst his people, Leos is an abomination. His abnormal growth and muscle mass has corrupted the standard long, slender frame of the Aleani, into a hulking giant of 6'4", with an astonishing weight of 250 lbs exactly. His monstrous body is wrapped in soft, earthy toned skin, like brown autumn leaves during fall. Coincidentally, there is further similarity between Leos and leaves present within the linear patterns in his skin and the veins in a leaf. These lines form intricate designs that cover his entire body, converging at a single point to form a Strange Symbol on the back of his neck. Though you would never know it, for the symbol is always obscured by dreaded locks of brown hair, which fall just passed his shoulder blades. His face has long since been a victim plagued by these obstructions. Often, stray, rampaging lochs will seek to interrupt the world seen through Leos' deep brown eyes, which discern that he has seen much more than his youthful features let on. This fact is reassured after hearing his voice that is filled with the certainty of knowingness from experiences pass.

Personality:
On the surface, Leos comes off as a rather silly and lighthearted person, frequently engaging in comical behavior and retaining his oft-present grin even while making threats. He displays a childlike amusement for new situations whether or not they prove adverse or even potentially fatal, he has a penchant for wandering off on his own. Even with all these idiosyncrasies, Leos is extremely personable and has a particularly complimentary nature that easily gains him the friendship and trust of those surrounding him.

Of course, these aspects hide the complex and determined young man underneath. On the reverse side of his frivolous nature is his considerable shrewdness, which makes him quite capable of reading people and situations. He is particularly observant, taking into consideration even the smallest details of his surroundings in order to better understand and deal with challenges and is not above using cheap tricks or questionable tactics to ensure his own survival. Being singularly ambitious, Leos also has a remarkably tenacious will that allows him to overcome virtually insurmountable obstacles and accept inhuman burdens for the sake of his own ultimate goal. Lee has a considerable pride that will not stand for having his humanity insulted or condemned by his enemies, but Leos is also capable of shelving his pride if it becomes something that will stand in the way of his objective.

Leos is very protective of family and comrades, refusing to allow any harm to come to them and often deem their safety more important than his own in spite of his own personal ambitions and goals. Leos has to be reminded several times that his own safety is something upon which many people depend and he uses his loved ones as hid primary motivation when all hope seems lost. As such, he becomes furious when observing those who willingly or remorselessly cast aside their own comrades or brethren and is sickened by the idea of superiors who reject their duty to those who trust them.

Backstory:
Leos was born outside the walls of Arx, into the Aleani tribe. The Aleani is a warrior-nomad tribe, moving from place to place, and fighting any beast they may come upon. The Aleani have lived like this since the time of the Watchers, and although they have had hard times, they have flourished and grown since then. Being a warrior tribe, they pride themselves in fighting the beasts of the wild, and dieing fighting one is considered and honor, although it is not rare for a relative to vow revenge and hunt it for doing so. The Aleani seem to have a grudge against dragons, and killing one can instantly give one the title of chief or fame.

Leos being and Aleani, has been fighting beasts since age of ten with the other warriors. His experience in the wild could be said to be second to none in his whole tribe. He has encountered dragons, and lived to tell the tale. Despite all the expertise, experience and fame he has gained, life has always be difficult. Leos was the son of the Chief. His father unwittingly chose his brother to be his advisor and envoy, and out of jealousy, he usurped his father from the throne by challenging him to a Hunt (a ritual were two warrior hunt a beast of the challengers choosing) in which Leos' father mysteriously died during. Being the envoy, Leos' uncle to the throne, due to Leos no being of age, and Leos' family was throne out of the royal hut.

Leos vowed to restore his families honor, and since then has fought beast after beast, all in a vain attempt to bring back the little bit of pride he lost in his father.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
Fangs of the Chimera/Gaia Defenders

Twin, one-sided short swords named Gaia Defenders has been a heirloom passed down from generation to generation. Leos was given this blade before his father left for the Hunt. True to is name, not once have the blades ever failed him in combat, being the same blade that slayed a Chimera. It is capable of piercing the hides of many of the Wilds beasts. Leos still uses these blades as his primary weapon. Their name coincides with his occupation, making them very befitting for his ownership. At all times they are firmly placed in a custom sheath: one is located on the left side of his back while the other is strapped to his right hip.

Scales of the Chimera
A necklace that was attained during the fight with the beast that was also passed down. This to toughens the skin of the upper body to the point that it can withstand the blows of a one-handed blade. It can be likened to a weaker a form of Dragon Scale armor.

Mark of the Ronen (Normal Skill)
This is want the Aleani call thier strongest and most skilled swordsman's, and Leos is no exception. Training and fighting beasts and warriors alike since the age of 10 has given him plenty of time to master his sword skill.

Mark of Dragonfly(Normal Skill)
Aleani must be quick and agile in order to fight many of the beasts in with Wild. Despite his hulking figure, those who underestimate him are sorely mistaken. Leos is nimble and quick on his feat, and his reflexes are just as excellent.

Mark of the Gorilla(Normal Skill)
Being as tall and muscular as he his brings benefits, allowing him to wrestle many beasts of the Wild, even allowing him to hold his own against beast twice hold size without a weapon, beating it is another story.

Bilingual
Being a nomad tribe, they have been all over. The Aleani are capable of speaking many languages besides thier own by taking the time to learn it.

Equipment:

-Dragon Scale armor protecting the torso and vambraces
-Scales of the Chimera
-Gurkha Blade: This is a curved knife, similar to the machete, used as both a tool and as a weapon. It is symbolic amongst the Aleani when used as a weapon, signifying the courage and valor of the bearer in the battlefield. The blade's distinctive forward drop is intended to aid the cutting action by having the edge maintain an angle (rather like a guillotine) rather than just have a straight edge at right angles to the target, this angle provides a more "slicing" action similar to a draw-cut with a machete or saber. The Gurkha Blade is effective as both a chopping and a slashing weapon. In combat, it is used in two different styles: stabbing with the point, slashing or chopping with the edge. Because the blade bends towards the opponent, the user need not angle the wrist, which makes the Gurkha Blade more comfortable as a stabbing weapon than other straight-bladed knives. Its heavy blade enables the user to inflict deep wounds and to cut through muscle and bone. As a tool, its use has varied from building, clearing, chopping firewood, and digging to cutting meat and vegetables, skinning animals, and opening tins.

Appearance:
Her left eye is yellow-gold, her right is sky blue. She has hip-length dark red hair, and her skin is slightly tanned. She stands at about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and has a slight but muscular build. She often wears her hair in a messy ponytail to keep it out of her face as she works, and her clothing is made up of whatever her master decided to give her, usually a simple dirt-brown dress, though they would have her dress up on occasion.

Personality:
The world is a cruel place, but that doesn't mean we cant be happy, that we can't give everything our all. Aisha has a 'glass half full' outlook on her life, she sees the bad in her own life and sees how much worse others have it, deciding to live as happily as she can, to savor each breath she takes. She smiles to spite her master for his cruelty, and smiles even when she is punished for it. They can take our bodies, they can take our lives, but they cannot crush our sprit so long as we do not let them.

Backstory:
Aisha never knew her mother, she was taken away from her before she was old enough to remember. She grew up in the service of a past warrior, one who had succeeded in bringing back some treasure from a tower, and learned from the other slaves there that her survival depended on her own will. She stayed under the radar mostly, until she got old enough to be considered pretty. Then there was no hiding.

She was given as a gift to a noble family, and there she barely survived day to day, narrowly escaping from most of the men who stalked her like predators around the house, and taking constant punishment for things that she had not done, taking the blame for these things from the younger slaves to try and grant them some form of protection in this harsh world.

One night, she heard a commotion, and when she went to investigate found a few of her fellow slaves planning an escape. They let her in on the plan, and within a few days carried it out. Unfortunately, most of them were caught almost immediately, and Aisha just kept running, unable to risk stopping for even a moment. She managed to get past the gates, the guards not willing to follow her beyond the city's walls. She kept running until she had to stop, resting but not sleeping for fear of the beasts that could find her. She didn't know where she would go, she only hoped that she could get somewhere safe outside of the city and live the rest of her life in peace.

Skills and Divine Abilities:
Knowledge of flora and fauna
While she may not be good at fighting, she does have enough know-how to survive in the wild, so long as no beast kills her. She knows what is poison, what is harmless, and what flowers will knock a full grown man on his back with just one whiff of pollen.

Anamalese
One item she can call her own is a simple necklace, a leather cord tied around a seemingly worthless stone. She knows it used to belong to her mother, and when she wears it she feels a connection to any form of animal life around her, even being able to "speak" to them and alter their perception of her and current memory, causing them to forget what they're doing at times.

Memory and Pattern Recognition
She has an extremely good memory. Never forgets a face, a tune, a name, or a pattern. (patterns in the way people act and their habits, and patterns that have to do with puzzles)

Survival Instinct
She's good at getting out of bad situations quickly.
