It has been 32 years since Exar Kun has terrorized the Galaxy. The Republic believed it had restored peace, yet there is something far more sinister brewing that they are yet blind to.

Recently, a dark emissary approached Mandalore the Ultimate with an offer that the Mandalorians would not soon pass up. Not only a chance to quench the thirst of their warrior spirits, but also to create the galaxy as their own utopia. The only condition was to submit to the rule of the Sith, and fight on the front lines for them.

The process took little convincing, and thus the Mandalorians took to the nearest major Republic outpost they could find: Taris, resulting in the First Battle of Taris. While the Republic was victorious, initially, the Mandalorians have not given up the fight. Their numbers and fleet were staggering to the Republic, and as the Mandalorians move for Onderon, the Republic is beginning to understand just how much the Mandalorians mean.

Pleading for the aid of the Jedi Order, the Republic gathers its forces in hopes that they can fend off this threat, but the enemy is growing, and a dark shadow stretches over the Republic. To make matters worse, the Jedi insists on neutrality in this conflict, claiming they are not warriors, but instead peacekeepers, and fighting this war would destroy their meaning.

Even with such a grim threat, the pleas of the Republic have not fallen on deaf ears. Two companions among the Jedi have been moved by the stories they hear from the Republic and have no intention of sitting still, even if it means their exile from the Jedi Order. These two Knights plan tirelessly for what they intend to do behind the backs of the Jedi High Council.

The fate of the Republic, the galaxy, and even the Jedi rest on the shoulders of these two, and of those who follow....

While the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games may not be considered canon anymore, there has recently been a great deal of reference to the series on part of the director of the Star Wars: Rebels animated series, Dave Filoni. Namely, this is the inclusion of Malachor in the season 2 finale, Twilight of the Apprentice. So, this naturally got a fan of the KotOR series like me interested in the thought of, "What might have happened to have led up to the 'Great Scourge of Malachor' referenced in the episode?"

So after some thought, I mixed some concepts from both Legends and the Canon, and this was the product. Not to say this RP would be Canon, but it is a possible situation that could result in the wasteland we see on Malachor in Twilight of the Apprentice.

As for characters, varying Jedi of different prestige would work well. I'm going to say no more than one or two characters per player, just to keep things manageable, but if you truly feel the need to make more characters, I may allow it.

Also, characters should be of any rank of Initiate (Youngling), Padawan, or Knight, with Masters reserved for GMs (so leaders OOC are also leaders IC), and ABSOLUTELY NO COUNCIL-LEVEL MASTERS, whether High Council or outlying Councils (i.e.: the Dantooine Enclave Council, the Tarisian Jedi Council, etc.).

Each character should have certain Lightsaber Forms they specialize in. Of course, Initiates would largely only know how to use Shii-Cho (Form I), and even then not very well (unless they're some kind of prodigy). Padawans would know Shii-Cho and likely have training in one of the other six forms. Knights could have knowledge of 3-4 forms. More than that would be unlikely. As for those who RP Masters: 4 forms; 5 tops. List of Forms with links to their Legends Wookieepedia pages below.

Form I: Shii-Cho
Form II: Makashi
Form III: Soresu
Form IV: Ataru
Form V: Shien & Djem So
Form VI: Niman
Form VII: Juyo (Ignore details concerning Vapaad for this RP; doesn't exist until Mace Windu develops it c. the Clone Wars)

I may or may not make a character of my own. There are going to be a LOT of NPCs for me to control, so that'll keep my hands full for the time being. I do ask, however, that all characters have a reason to be on Coruscant, in the Jedi Temple, as things will officially kick off with Alek (the man who will become Darth Malak) giving his recruitment speech.

I would request that players keep tabs on all the items they gather throughout the RP so we don't have, say, the same Medpac used 5 different times because we forgot it had already been used. It's minor updates to the CS that shouldn't be too difficult to track. Also, please post your characters in the OOC first so that we keep only the accepted characters in the Characters Tab. That would help me tremendously with organization.

Any questions I have left unanswered, you may ask (as I'm a forgetful man) and I will make sure and give an answer as soon as possible.

Also, the IC is cleared for posting! Though the Holonet is not yet in working order, it will be soon enough.

Excellent! I'm so glad for the interest shown in this RP. If everyone from the Interest Check comes over, we'll have 8 players, which isn't a bad number in my opinion. Speaking of the IntChk, the idea had been pitched over there for multiple factions being playable, and while I am considering it, we'll need a few more players to really make that possible.

EDIT: lol ninja'd. Reading your CS right now Zeroth.

@Zeroth
I like it, he's got a good balance of light side attributes and intentions with some more reckless traits.

Two things:
1. A consular is a Knight. Knight is rank, consular, sentinel and guardian are specialisations.

2. The GM says that things will begin with Malak's recruitment speech so I don't think any of the characters have explicitly sided with Revan or against him yet.

@Roosan Good catch.

@Zeroth Perhaps put under the Rank portion, "Knight (Specialization: Consular)" or something of the sort? Or if you'd like you could separate them into different categories in the CS? I'm not too picky about these things.

And while TrĂ kata isn't an actual "Lightsaber Form" it is indeed a good supplement to Shii-Cho and Soresu, giving the defensive Soresu a more offensive capability. I'll allow it. Just understand it is a very difficult style of lightsaber combat to effectively master. I will allow you to have knowledge of one additional Form if you'd like, given TrĂ kata is a supplementary style rather than a Form.

Hmm . . . and some may have already decided to follow Revan, though they are not out at battle yet.

Mostly just nitpicky stuff. Get these minor things fixed up and you can move your CS to the Characters tab. :)

EDIT: For some reason forgot to mention that the images for the lightsaber and robes seem broken.

@Rethel34I've made some edits, and tried to re-link the images. Since Trakata's such a difficult form, I think I'll stick with just it and the other two so as to justify him being relatively good at it. He'll spend time working on it, rather than learning another proper form.

With a few edits near the bottom of his backstory I added that he made the decision to visit the front lines for himself, before Revan really started recruiting, and that now he intends to attend the meeting in the hopes that he can keep things from getting out of hand.

Let me know if there are still any issues, and if not I'll put him in the CS tab.

@Zeroth Image for the robes is working for me, but the Lightsaber still appears to be a broken image until I open it in a new tab. I think it's just an imgur issue with my computer, or perhaps with Firefox. Go on ahead and post it to the Characters Tab.

As of the moment, I'm working on filling up the NPC list, so if I'm slow to respond on anything, guys, it's likely because I'm busy with that or RL has attacked D:

EDIT: Got a list of most of the Jedi Council up, plus Revan, Alek/Malak, and Kreia.

Now to prep some of the IC stuff. I'll give it a couple of days to see how many players we get before I post it all up.

Name: Deak Ducain
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Rank: Knight

Lightsaber Forms:
- Shii-Cho
- Makashi
- Soresu

Equipment:
- Blue Lightsaber
- His freighter ship, the Scavenger

Appearance:

Personality: A theif with a heart of gold that ultimately chose to pursue life as a Jedi rather than a life of crime. A naturally charismatic and charming smooth-talker, specializing in Jedi mind tricks over skill with a lightsaber. Although he is no longer a slimy, double-crosing, no-good swindler, he does maintain some of these scoundrelous tendencies, making more than a few members of the Jedi Order feel rather uneasy.

Biography: Born and raised on "The Smuggler's Moon," Nar Shaddaa, it seemed as though it was Deak Ducain's destiny to be a slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler. After losing his parents at a young age, Deak was forced to look out for himself, falling into a life of crime in order to get by. Theft, extortion, spice dealing, illegal swoop racing, all were par for the course on Nar Shaddaa, and Deak quickly learned the skills he would need in order to survive. Nar Shaddaa was a lot of things, but a good place to gorw up was not one of them.

Deak began working for a powerful criminal organization known as the Exchange, and before long he became one of their most trusted smugglers. Deak found that he had a certain flair for the profession, as he was quite a smooth-talker and an unusually skilled pilot. During this time he even acquired his own freighter, the Scavenger, which he used to carry out missions for the Exchange throughout the galaxy. The Exchange ultimately became the closest thing he had to family.

In the world of smugglers and crime lords, the best policy is not to trust anybody, and Deak would soon learn this the hard way. He discovered that his father had several unpaid debts with the Exchange, and that the Exchange was reponsible for the death of his parents as a result. Feeling betrayed, Deak sought out the bounty hunter responsible for killing his parents, in order to exact revenge. Deak swore he would bring down the entire Exchange if he had to, but little did he know that an operation was already in place aiming to do just that.

A Jedi Knight named Kai-Voth was conducting an undercover mission within the ranks of the Exchange, covertly passing information to Republic authorities and the Jedi Council. During the mission, Kai-Voth's cover was blown and he was discovered by Deak, who agreed to help him take down the Exchange from within. Voth was amazed at Deak's connection to the Force, observing his quick reflexes, abilitity to manipulate others, and knack for survival. Voth sensed that there was more to Deak that just the smuggler he had become, and that if trained he could become a powerful Jedi. However, for Deak to pursue training as a Jedi, he would need to pass an important test.

Deak and Voth cornered the bounty hunter that killed Deak's parents on Nar Shaddaa, and Deak was faced with a choice. Execute the man or have him brought in to face Republic justice for his many crimes. Deak could not bring himself to murder and unarmed prisoner and chose the latter as a result, passing the test that Voth had intended. After taking down a prominent Exchange crime lord on Nar Shaddaa, Voth was awarded the rank of Jedi Master. He brought Deak before the Jedi on Coruscant, and asked to take him on as an apprentice. His request was granted.

Deak was trained in the ways of the Force by Master Kai-Voth, and he was taught to harness and control his natural abilities. During this time, the Mandalorian Wars broke out, and the Jedi found themselves in the midst of a rift as Revan began to rally Jedi Knights to his cause. Deak felt somewhat conflicted regarding the Jedi's non-inteventionalist position, but he ultimately chose to remain loyal to the Jedi and to his Master that had done so much for him. However, upon the completion of his training, Deak was given a mission that would prove critical to the Mandalorian Wars.

Master Kai-Voth revealed that he was a member of the Jedi Shadows, a hidden sect of Jedi the general public was unaware of, carrying out highly-sensitive, top-secret missions. This was the reason he was sent undercover into the Exchange. Master Voth believed that Deak had all of the qualities necessary to become a Jedi Shadow, and distinguish himself from the other members of the Order. For his first mission, Deak was to be sent undercover into the ranks of Revan's supporters, and report information back to the Jedi. Deak's loyalities would soon be tested in more ways than he could possibly imagine...

@ZeusTheMoose Then I will do everything I can to make this RP worth your time. Already working on Czerka Corp Products for players to purchase and Exchange Bounties to serve as optional "sidequests" for your characters to be posted to the holonet. Here's a little teaser

Of course, products like full-blown droids (like the above example) would be quite expensive, but they can also be quite helpful.

EDIT: And an alternative to the HK-27 product from a rival company of Czerka

Oh neat, I'm very interested in joining. I'm a little rusty on my KOTOR, played a lot of SWTOR though.

One question about lightsaber forms: can one use two sabers for Shien and Djem So?

@Ozerath
I think every form can be used with single sabers, dual sabers or a double sided sabers. The forms just govern specific fighting styles that give advantages or disadvantages respectively.

I may be wrong though, perhaps the GM will say differently.

@Ozerath What @Roosan said. Two sabers is a "style" called Jar'Kai, typically used in tandem with the sixth form, Niman, but can be combined with any form. Particularly, this was done by the clone of Vader's secret apprentice in The Force Unleashed 2.

@Midori That sucks that you can't do this. I'll keep a slot open for you if you change your mind.

@Everyone: I might not be able to get things up IC tomorrow; I'm working in construction with a friend of mine and while it makes good money, it consumes a lot of time. So I'm sorry if things are slow getting booted up.
