In Depth Appearanceβ
fauna's face matches very well to her name. all of her features are naturally doelike and gentle, eerily so - her eyes are brighter than the sun, glaringly blue and wide to the point where you can see the rims of each iri. her eyebrows are even more prominent, always half-raised and half-furrowed, thick and heavy. the bridge of her nose is very slight and small, littered with freckles, then the tip is slightly upturned and squared like a deer's. her lips seem to have permanent strawberry stain on them, the cupid's bow sweetly rounded and the corners of her mouth dimpled into her cheeks. she has a heart shaped face to accentuate all of these feats, with a pointed chin that juts out a bit.
her body is diminutive and unimpressive, however. she is tall for a biological female, standing at five foot nine, and very thin from a history of poor eating habits, weighing in at one hundred and six pounds. her legs are the longest part of her body, rather disproportionate even - she flaunts that fact with skirts and shorts whenever she's able to. all of her limbs are delicate leave for the notches: her knees and elbows are knobby, all angular and far too pointy for her to comfortably be in close quarters with people. she's not very well-developed, either, with no bust to speak of and little hips.

Habits & Quirksβ
- fauna constantly chews her lips, which is probably the reason they're always a cherry colour. you might find her covering half her face to hide the little bleeding nicks that crop up every now and then.
- fauna has a jaunty way of walking, taking giddy steps that excite her figure more than it usually is.
- she somewhat dances wherever she goes, moving her hands through the air in fluid motions, twirling her fingers and splaying them like she's just given a groundbreaking speech, et cetera.
- this isn't so much of a habit as it is a bodily malfunction, but fauna is always cold. she pushes herself as close to others as possible to treat this disorder, and is something of a "body heat thief."
- she laughs at everything. it's usually just to make people be more comfortable, considering fauna's laughter is a soothing sound to hear, but an unnecessary quirk in most situations.

Personalityβ
at first glance fauna seems a person whom time has passed by. she is someone who has reached an age at which the world no longer resembles the one in which she learned to survive. the problem is that, for her, the world was never as she wanted it to be, and she never quite fit into it. she is continually confronting the gap, refusing to admit that her perceptions might be wrong. she can of course be very pleasant, so long as she perceives that others treat her with courtesy, and respect the things about which she cares. but when someone fails to follow her protocols in an interaction it immediately throws her into a fit of rage and you have violated them. it is not that she wants her way because it is her way, but because she believes that way is right, fair, and respectful.
her bravery is probably harmful to her, however. she tends to be incredibly honest. fauna's straightforwardness is refreshing when couched in careful terms, but she is not renowned for her diplomacy... she can be downright blunt, much to the chagrin of anyone on the receiving end. she is very independent in her disposition, unable to speak about her emotions freely. because she strives to 'move right along,' she isn't likely to carry baggage of the past. the apparent unemotional aspect about her is that she doesn't make her feelings overt easily; her composure often hides her true thoughts, despite being an utterly loyal and sincere girl. fauna's independence is built by her explorative side and philosophy... her decisions are often made based on the amount of freedom given by the choice she's made, and as a result, sometimes a good opportunity is turned down because of it's need for commitment.
her greatest shortcoming is that she is naΓ―ve. she is a girl whose personal life is in such chaos that she relies on βrulesβ in order to provide concrete support. otherwise she could not function and would drown in the disorder and uncertainty of everyday life. if one slip is allowed to slide, all of civilization is bound to follow. psychologically, fauna is like an abandoned child searching for her parents. her core emotional needs continue to go unmet because she did not have those needs met in childhood and she never learned how to appropriately meet those needs for herself. she pursues core emotional needs in unskillful ways while healthier, more adaptive people move through life engaged in more 'advanced' psychological endeavors like building long-term marriages and conducting philanthropy.
she doesn't give herself much structure. self-care is a notion that seems overwhelming much of the time, and social support seems like a distant memory. she chugs diet coke for breakfast, begrudgingly exercises, and all too often treats her friends like afterthoughst. and when she encounters strangers, like some shop clerk, the default mode is to be detached and rude. this stems from a "you're guilty until proven innocent" rule of thumb that she has for most people (a logical survival strategy stemming from her history).
she doesn't just live like an adolescent whose parents are away for the weekend. she feels alone and aimless on the inside in a profound, existential sort of way. she sleeps with men for whom she feels little or nothing. it's why she wakes up in the middle of the night and looks at the hairy body lying next to her with observable disgust. fauna is living an uninspired, fairly dysfunctional life. it's more than thatβthere's something uncomfortable about watching her, observing the intricacies of her life unfold. everything about her is cold and aggressive. looking into her eyes, as pretty as they may be, feels the same as staring into a fixed scowl of anger. "being" with her is starting to feel tiresome.
something about her discontent, and her vivid way of expressing it, makes fauna resonate powerfully with others who come from backgrounds completely different from hers. she effortlessly attracts people to herself. it is tempting to inhabit her point of view and revel in her cantankerousness rather than try to deduce what is wrong with her. most noticeable of her peculiarities is how extremely judgmental she is of almost everything and everybody. she criticizes and philosophizes about people who are boring, people who are insecure, and, above all, people who are artificial. fauna carries this penchant for passing judgment to such an extreme that it often becomes extremely funny.
she could easily be chalked up to a βdumb blondeβ (brunette?) type of girl. she is clearly not book-smart, but she could never rightfully be titled βdumb.β she tries her hardest to seem intelligent, and always tries to spit out witty comments, but fauna is far behind the crowd in this sense. whenever she pipes up with something she thinks is clever, it's always knocked right back down with hard stares from others. and if she tries to participate in intellectual debates and conversation, well, fauna can't talk about much else than her (not well remembered) crappy public school education.

Place Of Originβ

Backgroundβ
fauna was born right in paris to an obviously francophilic mother. her mother, blanche, dressed her in lovely garments, making her a living doll of sorts, and life was generally happy between the single working-class mother and 'petite doll' girl. they stayed near the cheaper, more dangerous areas of the capital, but of course none of that mattered when they could be happy in each others' presence.
then when fauna was five she began to suffer from epilepsy. not entirely physical, no, only in her temporal lobeβit was recurrent, not immediately diagnosed, because little fauna's complaints of voices and auras was believed to be a child's imagination. then she began to have fits of anger, where seemingly out of nowhere she attacked blanche, threw boiling pots at the woman, tore apart couches and the wood of their floors.
blanche could tolerate this hysteria until fauna was six and in first grade. she grabbed another student who laughed at her 'silly' manner of dressing, bashed his head against the tile to the point of bonecracking, and proceeded to dislocate her teacher's arms when an attempt was made to control her. her destruction only ended when she was knocked upside the head by a chair. when sent to be treated for a concussion, only then were fauna's epileptic episodes discovered.
she wasn't cured, so to speak, but still she was an embarrassment to her mother. in that case they moved to french-speaking canada. her destructive history was left behind in france, and fauna was allowed to 'reset' in victoria. when she was eleven, she visited family in california and her grandparents informed her of a camp that would supposedly restore her to health over the summer. she was twelve by the time she first came to liberty, and luckily enough, fauna was much less chaotic once the summer was over. because of this, she was sent back every year following under her mother's demand.

Miscellaneousβ
fauna suffers from temporal lobe epilepsy, but her seizures are uncommon. she typically needs a bad trigger to actually set them off.
