Melanie looks pretty much like this

, but the pads in her armor are dark red. She'll usually wear a loose fitting dress over this when she's not in a battle type situation.

Weapons and/or Devil Fruit:
Melanie is trained in Nin-Ninjitsu a form of martial arts her parents learned in the East. Her weapon of choice is the Kunai which she uses for hand to hand combat, throwing, and scaling walls. Her greatest strength, however, would be her knowledge of chemicals which she uses to create a variety of weapons and potions. This includes: smoke bombs, flash bombs, concussive bombs, bombs filled with hallucinogenic gases, sleep gas bombs, etc, etc.

History:
Melanie was born to two loving parents who always hid something from her. Every day , for as long as she could remember she'd find them in the mornings looking towards the East, longing in their eyes. This went on till one day she woke up alone in a forest with a piece of paper and a kunai. It was in her father's hand writing. He explained who they really were, members of a clan assassins who'd escaped the old life when they learned her mother was pregnant. They missed their homeland and planned on taking her back, but first she needed to be ready, and so began her training.
The first month was survival in some ancient woods without anyone but herself for company. As far as forest went it wasn't especially dangerous, but there were always threats. Occasionally she'd find a note with tips, or loving words of encouragement from her parents. One time she got a new scarf for her birthday but that was it. After that her parents brought her back home and the real training began. This included four hours of intense physical training, four hours learning the ninja arts and ways, two hours studying biology, medicine, and chemistry, and an hour of intense meditations in the mornings, and the rest of the day would be spent on chores or if time allowed a walk through town.
One day her parents had a strange look on their faces. They told her to go town and gave her a long list of items she should pick up. She did, and upon her return she found both parents gone. The house had been burned down to the ground by such an intense fire even the stones were turned to dust. There was lots of blood and bodies but she didn't recognize any of them. Eventually she discovered a note that had been placed inside a deep gash one of her parents left. Their clan had found them and had taken them. There was money hidden nearby. She shouldn't try and find them. Since she wasn't blooded into the clan, the clan had no interest in her. She should enjoy what life she could have now. They were sorry to leave her and only regretted never showing her their homeland.
So she gathered her things, weapons and gear which was kept hidden a few miles away in an old cave, grab her money and set out to find her parents.

Also, I hate to be that "guy" but maybe some rules would help?
They don't have to be too specific but some general guidelines like how often are replies expected, reminders of common sense things like no God modding or metaplaying, and possible what would happen if said rules aren't followed. For example there's an rp I'm active in that's doing pretty good because if a player goes seven days without either posting in the IC or letting the GM know what's going on their character is killed off and a replacement is recruited at the start of the next arc. Which I think is the reason why its gotten so far.

I'm thinking we could do power play for small fry, and single person collaboration against larger scale enemies. If you want 2+ on 1 baddie we could do a power play.

An example of Power play is
User 1: I rush him and try to attack swinging diagonally from his left shoulder down to his hip. If it misses I would jump back to avoid, if it hits I'd stay on the assault.
User 2: I barely manage to sidestep the attack, and then counter with a right hook, but miss because (User 1) jumper back. I then try for a round house to his face, if it misses I try again. Should be block it I go for a backflip kick.

I should note, this is AU, so some things may stay the same, some may differ. Also, don't forget that your special attacks have to be theme based. I.e. Usopp's Stars, Sanji's Food Based names, or Luffys Weapon based names.

...Yeah, I think I'm dropping out. Sorry. ^^; I don't really like collaboration posts, and the other style of posting you mentioned is one of the many reasons I stay as far away from the arena as possible.

I'm still here. I kind of get power play, it's not really too different from normal battles in rps, but what's a single person collaborative rp? It doesn't seem very popular so are there any benefits that'll make it worthwhile?

The collaboration is for those one on one fights, this way we don't have a Wall of back and forth between one person. Like say, the Rob Lucci vs Luffy fight.

@malmshodesCan't speak for other people, but... You end up with a big, impenetrable wall of text which is usually just a big mess and also ends up destroying the individual voices of the writers to create some homogenous mush that's generally just not that fun to read.

I mean I have other problems with collabs, but those are my main ones.

As for the "power play" thing, I honestly think it completely removes the reactionary element of roleplaying, which wouldn't be so bad a thing if the reactionary element wasn't one of the core elements of roleplaying.

I'm not sure about destroying the individuality since from what I gather collaboration posts are really similar to regular rp replying, as in its one after another, but then they share the same post. So I can see how the size would be an issue, since their multiple rounds of posting all on a single space.
Maybe the problem could be solved if instead of collaborating between post, combatants relied on the "mentioning" thing? Again, just my two cents. Not trying to step on any toes. I just really want to see another One piece rp succeed!

I can't really say anything for the power play part since it seems like that would be entirely based on feeling and as I haven't tried it yet...... It would be like saying I do/don't like apples based on the shape.

Just make sure you don't Auto Hit unless it's against Grunts. Don't take over other characters, and don't throw some random NPC into your post suddenly. Also, remember the characters here are East Blue level, not Grand Line or New World.

Well, that's why I think my time limit on replies will come in handy. If someone doesn't post within a 5-7 day period kill off their character and then recruit someone else once its convenient.

I don't think there'll be a problem with that since I feel most fights in roleplays are done that way.

Mmmm How about we change it to a character has 5-7 days to advance a story? That way a player, if they know they won't be able to reply to a story, can hand off control for a post, or however long they'll be gone?
