Artemis came from a humble muggle family and was only introduced to the magical world when her Hogwarts letter appeared on her doorstep. Her parents were reluctant to send their precious daughter to some mysterious academy far away and wished that she would continue her muggle studies in a respectable middle school she was enrolled into but they couldn't talk Artemis out of her determination to study magic. After graduation, she returned to the muggle world but she was still unemployed - her hard personality had pretty much scared off most bosses and HR managers.
A no-nonsense girl who is usually unsmiling and can be somewhat a perfectionist - Artemis is stern to others, but even stricter to herself, always striving to be better than before, which causes her to seem very competitive and haughty. She loves and hates with equal passion, unafraid to voice out her thoughts with blunt honesty. She can be temperamental at times and is quick to resort to mild violence when irritated or angered. However, behind her tough face she is actually an insecure girl who is trying her best to stand up on her own in the harsh reality, and wants someone she can rely on.
Credentials:
Lost to Noelle academically and just couldn't beat Miyu in wand duels.
Became a prefect in her fifth year.
Never joined Quidditch - she is acrophobic.
Wand:
Blackthorn and dragon heartstring, 10 inches, rigid.
Ollivander described her wand as "one with such a strong personality that only the mightiest of the warriors can ever possibly control its prodigious strength", which clearly reflects her steely character.
Pets:
None - she isn't good with animals and they usually seem to hate her.
Patronus:
Tiger.
Boggart:
Herself.
Amortentia:
Curry, espresso.
Trivia:
She was born on July 23 (Leo).
Just like any other Asians who has black hair and dark eyes, but has a slight complex about his fair complexion, small build and baby-face, which are the main cause of his constant identity crisis: he was often mistaken as a girl (and no, he isn't gay).
Name:
Miyu Kisaragi (如月 自由)
Gender:
Male
Hogwarts House:
Slytherin
Bio & Personality:
Miyu was born in London as the only child of his Japanese migrant parents. During daytime his parents worked hard to manage their small family cafe, but at night they were onmyouji (see 'Extras' for more info). He had been studying in a muggle elementary school until he received his Hogwarts letter on his eleventh birthday; his parents were delighted about sending him off to the Western wizarding school to learn other magical skills beyond his onmyoudo training. He also has some martial arts background, which was very handy for self-protection...including wand duels and Quidditch. After graduation, he was currently helping out with the family store, but he had no intention to inherit it, ever.
A pretty laid-back person who is a free soul like his namesake - Miyu likes to laze around and do whatever he pleases. He has a sadistic streak in him and he enjoys trolling people.
Credentials:
Was a Seeker for his house Quidditch team but was never interested in the captain position. Possibly the fastest flier at Hogwarts of their time. Also notoriously known for his apparent lack of teamwork and dangerous flying stunts.
Wand:
Cherry and phoenix feather, 11 inches, slightly springy.
Bought at Ollivanders, and it was the last cherry wand ever sold at the store. Ollivander commented that "with a lethal wood highly prized by his kind (the Japanese) coupled with an independent core that mirrors his inner self", it was a wand that had proven to be a very difficult one to tame. Indeed - Miyu had a lot of trouble trying to gain control over it in the beginning, but when he did, the bond between himself and the wand was so strong that the will of the wand literally echoed with its owner, allowing him to cast a wide range of non-verbal spells rather effortlessly compared to most others.
Pets:
A pied imperial pigeon named Sora.
Patronus:
Raven. Note that it does not go with the widely-known reference to death and bloodbath but the ancient symbolism of wisdom, prophecy and...dark secrets.
Boggart:
Hourglass.
Amortentia:
Grass field, green tea.
Onmyoudo:
Onmyouji are descendants from an ancient clan who possessed purifying powers to ward off evil spirits and demons involving the uses of ki (innate energy within the human body) and shikigami (paper charms to call forth and control certain spirits to do their bidding, or in Western magic term, familiars). Unfortunately, onmyoudo is a very specialized form of Asian magic, hence there is a controversy about categorizing their bloodline - they can be seen as Asian wizards with an uniquely 'pure' blood, or simply muggles with supernatural powers. His father was often furious at his laziness, so in the end he's only exceptionally good at using shikigami to create doppelgangers.
Shikigami --- Unlike the standard kind that his parents normally use, Miyu's one is a simple paper cutting of a human figure for creating doppelgangers. To activate its use, simply write the person's full name on the charm (in Japanese) while mentally channeling as much information of that person as possible into the doppelganger so that the double can be as close to the real person in resemblance. Most of the time Miyu used his doppelgangers as diversion puppets when he was about to be caught by the teachers or the caretaker for, say, being out of bed and sneaking around the corridors late at night, etc. He can also manually control the doppelganger through soul link with his double (for example, if he doesn't feel like going to class he can use the charm to replace him instead), but this requires a lot of willpower to hold on to the connection, and blood is used to write the name instead of normal ink.
Trivia:
He was born on June 15 (Gemini). There was even a riddle for his birthdate: "In the middle of the middle".
His family name 'Kisaragi' is an old Japanese term for the month of February, and the kanji of his first name 'Miyu' means freedom (a tweak from the actual Japanese romanji, which is written as 'jiyuu').
He was one of those "hatstall" cases, in which the Sorting Hat took longer time than usual to place him into a particular house (in his case between Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin). In the end he was sorted to Slytherin, and it caused raised eyebrows from his housemates.
