HOGWARTS OF THE NEXT GENERATION
The Muggle Rebellion

{tsukune x Oblivion}

"When Voldie dies, the muggles strike back..."

Seventeen years has passed since the Great War at Hogwarts against Voldemort and his Death Eaters, with the good triumphed over the evil, led by Harry Potter and his two closest friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The time of peace that the wizarding world yearned for has finally came...

In an alternate reality set in the year of 2014 parallel to the canon timeline, this peace is short-lived - a new war is about to break out, more terrible than what Voldemort did in his time. It is not just between the purebloods and muggle-borns, but the entire wizarding community against the world of muggles.

Can wizards and witches continue to coexist with non-magical humans? Or will this balance be broken just like the witch-hunt back in the old times, but much much worse?

The story will revolve around four seemingly unrelated Hogwarts graduates - each from one of the Houses - who will eventually set aside their fears and differences, and unite together to fight to the ultimate end...

Behind the curtains that hid the floor-to-ceiling window, it was picture of melancholy. Rain beat down onto the glass with increasing force every minute, almost threatening to break the window and bring the storm further in, destroying the bookcases that spanned the room. Like the window, they were also floor-to-ceiling high and covered most of the three out of four walls, only allowing a gap between them to make place for an antique centerpiece that lay on the mantle above the warm, crackling fire. The normally neat and orderly room was scattered with wooden trunks of every size and of ranging shades of brown and black, most stuffed to the brim with books; the floor was in a similar state, littered with books, parchment, quills and the occasional inkpot here and there. It almost looked like the storm raging outside had blown in and set the place into disarray, rather than by the girl sitting in the midst of the mess.

With two books in each hand and two more open on her lap, Noelle surveyed all four volumes of transfiguration aids, wondering which one to keep. She didn’t really need them anymore, did she? After all, she had memorized most of the information offered in the books. With a sigh, she unceremoniously dumped all four of them in a nearby trunk and reached for several more. It pained her to see her precious books put away in a trunk where they wouldn’t be easily accessed – if she’d had a choice, she’d much rather have kept them right here, right where she could read them again and again. But she had a new shipment of books coming in, some international and imported and she sorely needed to make place for the new additions.

You have to go. Noelle firmly placed another set of books in the trunk and closed the latch, sighing in relief. Done. After getting up and latching every trunk and then sealing them with a handy charm, fifteen trunks of books lay before her, waiting to be shrunk so that she could take them to Gringotts the next day. With a heavy heard, Noelle muttered the incantation and shoved the miniature boxes into her pocket, leaving the library and its barren shelves behind.
The next day, the storm had subsided. Early in the morning, as Noelle stepped out for a breath of fresh air, the scent of rain mixed with the earthly scent of the garden made her linger for a little bit longer, savoring the rare chance of being in such close proximity with nature. Normally, she didn’t bother much and holed herself up in the library for hours on end, but today was different. She’d have liked reading in such weather very much, particularly before winter set in in a few weeks, but she had a task to go. Gringotts. She shuddered, an image of one of the goblins popping up into her mind. The creatures scared her quite a bit, making her avoid the place like the plague. Nothing short of storing her precious books in her vault would make her approach the bank, as it was crawling with the creatures that usually eyed her like a criminal.

Her family’s alignment was common knowledge and at times, they still received cold looks from survivors and their families, especially those that had fought in the Battle of Hogwarts. But Noelle couldn’t choose her parents, could she? Being neutral wasn’t as bad as everyone always made it seem. Light wasn’t the sole justifiable option, was it?

Heading back inside with the miniature trunks clattering in her pocket, Noelle picked up a stack of four thick volumes and clumsily grabbed a handful of Floo powder before tossing it into the living room’s fireplace. Most of the powder landed outside the fireplace rather than in but it was sufficient enough to produce a roaring green fire. Normally, Noelle would’ve been opposed to Flooing with books in her arms but she had no choice; her wand was too far for her to reach, nestled in its holster that was strapped to her upper arm. It was too late to put them down now – call her lazy but Noelle would be damned before she would be a minute late for an appointment, even one that involved goblins.

The moment she stepped into the fire, it sent her spinning towards the Leaky Cauldron at an inhumane speed, the books nearly falling out of her tight grip. As different fireplaces all flashed by her as she passed, Noelle desperately clutched at the books so that they wouldn’t be sent rocketing out and into some random house. Luckily, the ride was nearly over and Noelle sighed in relief when she felt herself slowing down. However, her legs didn’t seem to be in tandem with her mind and she immediately ran out upon landing in the Leaky Cauldron’s fireplace, bumping head on into disgruntled patrons. One elbowed her out of the way with a painfully sharp elbow and sent her books crashing to the ground, along with their owner.

Cursing under her breath, Noelle shot the man a dirty look and picked up the volumes off of the floor before anyone’s gaze could linger on the titles. Guide to Raising Tarantulas and How to Avoid Being Strangled by Plants in Your Sleep were hastily picked up off the floor and back into Noelle’s aching arms, already weakening from the strain. What could possibly be so complex about raising a tarantula that could warrant 900 pages?
“And then it fell over like thiiiis –“ With a flourish, a man in a thigh-high dressing gown tipped to the side, precariously balanced on one leg.

As the mental patient demonstrated the growth of potted plants and babbled nonsensical songs that ‘aided the growth of bread mould’, a young man doodled in his clipboard. He was hard-working enough and all but working in the Mental Ward was enough to elicit even the most diligent of workers to simply doodle and count down the minutes to the end of their shifts. Fortunately – for once –Aiden only had around fifteen minutes left and ten minutes in, he tipped his head to the nurse that acted as an overseer of the ward and left the room.

As he walked down the hallway to the staff room, screams, nonsensical chatter, threats and crying echoed in from every direction, closing in on him. Even after six months of working as an intern in St. Mungo’s, Aiden still found it hard to deal with the cries of the demented, those doomed to live out their days in a bleak, repetitive routine here in St. Mungo’s. Sure, it was temporary, as his internship required experience in every floor of St. Mungo’s but the third, the Mental Ward, was by far the worst. He practically scampered out the heavy front doors and out into the brightly lit street that still harbored the faint scent of rain.

Breathing in deeply, Aiden stood still for a moment and filled his lungs with the fresh scent of rain. It always calmed him down – he felt one with the earth and as he started making his way down the crowded street of Diagon Alley, he felt his heart lighten considerably. Not even being cooped up in the dark wards of St. Mungo’s could dwell on him, not today. Many considered him too light-hearted at times, much too sensitive to his surroundings but that was simply the way he was and he was content with it. Nothing could’ve made him happier, nothing came close to how rain made him feel.

Tapping his wand on a few particular bricks, he found himself in a small, untidy courtyard with a few trashcans and empty boxes leaning precariously, no doubt being held up by magic. His Healer’s robes swished behind him and were nearly caught in the closing brick entrance as he stepped through and crossed the courtyard in a few steps, entering the Leaky Cauldron with a small wave to the owner, Tom.

The Leaky Cauldron was, as always, noisy and filled to the brim, especially at this time of the day. Shadowy characters and veiled wizards sat in the booths adjoined to the walls and in the dark corners. More acceptable people sat in full view of the other crowd, sipping Butterbeer and countless more made their way in from the Muggle world to Diagon Alley and vice versa. He absentmindedly noted a witch carrying a huge stack on books trip and fall as he passed her. A glance at one of the volumes made him snort as he sat down at one of the unoccupied tables and signaled the owner for a Butterbeer. Firewhisky wasn’t a viable option, seeing as how he had no intentions on getting drunk at the moment. His pale blue Healer’s robes made him stand out like a beacon among the crowd and, leaning back and surveying the crowd, Aiden laughed lightly at the girl picking up her books, even as she shot him a dirty look. He would never understand bookworms.

~ ARTEMIS ~

The streets of London was as busy as ever - it took almost all of Artemis' willpower not to make a scene in public as she tried to squeeze herself through throngs of people but only to receive angry glares from them. She bit her lower lip with growing irritation - it was stupid of her to come here on a weekend where the road would be filled with muggle shoppers. She wouldn't even bother to come all the way here if it wasn't for the fact that she was running out of pocket money and still hadn't get a job to really get settled down with her life yet. The thought of her nagging parents' voice in her head only made her more annoyed than she already was.

After numerous shoulder-knocking, foot-trodden and umbrella-scrapping moments, she was very glad to have finally arrived at the front door of Leaky Cauldron and began to fill her lungs with some fresh rain-scented air, while the muggle jam behind her continued to inch forward, completely oblivious to the small, grimy-looking pub wedged between a big bookstore and a record label shop.

She could still remember the first time she came here with her mother, and the kind barman showed them to the wall that would reveal an archway, the entrance to Diagon Alley (not to mention how her mother's eyes were so close to literally popping out of their sockets while trying to digest the magical world that was probably beyond what her muggle mind could comprehend). The interior was very much the same as what she had seen in her first visit: a dimly-lit and shabby-looking place but this time with it was rather packed and livelier than usual. She quickly ducked down as a barn owl swooped dangerously low and almost hit her straight in the face. She shuddered at the thought of having to spit out a mouthful of feathers later.

However, one of the seated customers caught her eye - there was no way she could ever forget about that person. The one who gave her a lot of headache back during their Hogwarts days. One of the greatest troublemakers in Hogwarts history after James Potter and Sirius Black duo, and also the Weasley twins. Him.

Miyu.

She moved towards his table and sat down opposite of him; the Asian boy looked up from his butterbeer and seemed pleasantly surprised to see her. "Oh, hey---"

"What brings you here?"

~ MIYU ~

The butterbeer in Leaky Cauldron wasn't as tasty as the one in Three Broomsticks, but to Miyu, who hadn't drink it ever since he graduated from Hogwarts and was forced to help out in his parents' cafe day in and out for months, it was good enough to remind him that he was still a wizard and not a muggle slave of his family business. He wanted to try a firewhiskey, but the barman, Tom, was pretty reluctant about it - Miyu's babyface feature would put him in a difficult position if people around started to question why a seemingly-underaged boy was sipping on alcohol.

His thoughts then drifted to the huge pile of gold in his Gringotts vault - not even his parents knew how much he had inside, the money he won (or rather, blackmailed) in bets during his Hogwarts days. He had no need for so much gold - he had decided that he would probably donate most of them off to the Hogwarts Needy Fund anonymously.

He raised his head in time to see a very familiar face before him - he would never mistake that cute angry look for someone else. He smirked inwardly at the number of times he sent her chasing after him around the corridors for all sorts of pranks he had played on her. He enjoyed watching the blur of changing expressions on her face, which was every bit as interesting as her fiery temper.

"Oh, hey---"

"What brings you here?" It was just so like Artemis to cut off him abruptly and with such fierceness. He shrugged. "Nothing. I'm just taking a break from my family. What about y--- Whoa, look who else are here."

~ ARTEMIS ~

Artemis turned around in time to see a blond witch tumbling out of the green flame in the fireplace who bumped into a wizard in light blue robes and sending the heavy volumes in her arms spilling on the dirt floor. She watched as the witch hurriedly snatched the book off the ground and giving eye daggers at the guy, whose facial expression suggested that he had a personal opinion about her reading choice.

She then returned her attention back to Miyu. "What about them?" Then it suddenly dawned upon her. Her memories from her days at Hogwarts came flooding into her mind.

"Noelle from Ravenclaw? And Aiden from Hufflepuff?" She said their names out loud, earning an amused look from Miyu. "What, you actually remembered their names?"

● Noelle ●

At the sound of hearing her name called, Noelle briefly looked up as she dusted off her robes with one free hand, the other shakily supporting a weight of twenty pounds. Her arm was beginning to ache as she turned towards the voice that had called her, along with another, ‘Aiden from Hufflepuff.’ Noelle’s mind flickered back, sorting out through her assorted memories in search of an ‘Aiden’. In a matter of seconds, it clicked. The half-asian boy, whom she’d once tutored in Potions.

Another memory stood out much clearer than before, in their Sixth Year. Noelle was standing in as a Seeker for the Ravenclaw team, in the season’s last Quidditch match, Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff when the Team Captain, Aiden Ahn, had sent a Bludger at her and one of the Chasers. Moments later, as they’d swerved away and Noelle had spotted the Snitch, she locked in with the Hufflepuff Seeker in a race for the golden ball at a breakneck speed, and caught it at a hair’s breadth away from the other boy. However, only gasps and screams greeted her instead of cheering and as she turned around, she witnessed two heavy Bludgers colliding with Aiden’s body, shattering most of his bones. The distorted mess of a body that fell towards the ground and lay there as they descended would never leave her memories.

And yet, here he was. The jackass that had collided with her, a Healer. She recognized his honey-brown hair and his tall stature almost instantly and felt her irritation surge. Hadn’t they been good friends while at Hogwarts? Hadn’t he helped her out once when Peeves had decided to drop a bucketful of balloons filled with various shades of neon paint on her head? For the rest of her Seventh Year, her hair had remained as a shade of rainbow mixed with pale blonde strands. As she neared the table and the girl that had called, Noelle’s pale green eyes settled on the nemesis of her days at Hogwarts.

Miyu Kisaragi.

All at once, memories of neon blue, green, pink and purple colored locks of hair among the few, remaining blonde ones rushed back towards her, her ears filled with the giggles of ‘Rainbow Head’ and 'The Rainbowclaw'. A chilling glare was sent to the back of Miyu’s head as she thumped her heavy books down mere millimeters from his arm. A shame they hadn’t hit their target. She sat down unceremoniously next to the girl instead, a girl whose face matched with Noelle’s recollections of Artemis Nightwind. The girl hadn’t been much of a pest to her compared to the rest of the Gryffindors, though Noelle did find Artemis’ fiery persona slightly tiring to deal with. She hadn’t known the girl well but she had liked her and therefore made an effort to be nice to her, offering her help in subjects had she needed it.

“It’s been so long, Artemis.” A light smile accompanied her words as she surveyed the witch before her. “How’re you doing?”
● Aiden ●

Aiden had long since switched tables at the call of his name, immediately recognizing the two familiar faces. Sure, he hadn’t been on particularly friendly terms with either of them, and hadn’t gone out of his way to make good friends during their days at Hogwarts. Quidditch had taken up most of his time, even after the devastating accident that had taken him four months to fully recover from. Luckily, that was during the summer vacations just before the start of their Seventh Year. Offering both of his former classmates a friendly, crooked smile as a way of greeting, His arms went up and waved a bit, flagging the busy owner down and ordering a round of Butterbeer, even for the new face that sat down at their table, thumping her books down. From the angle she’d placed them, the titles weren’t visible to him but all of a sudden, it clicked.

It wasn’t until she started speaking that Aiden recognized her face and with that came a small tinge of sheepishness at having knocked her down. He remembered her face well enough, and her dimpled cheek as she smiled. Certainly he’d made her smile amusedly enough as Slughorn had griped at him for his mediocre potion. Nor had her eccentric choice of hair color escaped his memory, though he didn’t know the specific cause for that phenomenon. Aiden offered the disgruntled girl an apologetic smile and pushed a Butterbeer her way as an apology. He inwardly sighed as her scathing look towards him receded and she accepted the mug, instead pointedly avoiding Miyu. He absentmindedly wondered why as he turned towards the other two familiar faces.

Artemis Nightwind, the unruly Gryffindor he’d remembered quite well enough for her temper during Herbology and other classes they’d shared together. Her fiery attitude hadn’t give him the slip well enough and he remembered occasionally avoiding her or intentionally jabbing at her to provoke a reaction, only to deflect the blame onto someone else. Ah, the good ‘ol days. Aiden hoped she’d passed her fiery phase because he wasn’t sure he could handle it again.

And at the other end, sat Miyu, the mischevious Slytherin. Unlike the other two, Aiden had had little to no problems with the boy. His pranks were entertaining and his legacy as resident prankster was only assuring entertainment whenever Miyu was around.

“You haven’t changed much, Kisaragi.” Aiden spoke, his voice light and playful. “How’s life without Peeves to do your dirty work?” He paused for a moment, hiding a smile as he sipped his Butterbeer. "How has life been treating you guys, hmm? Are you still afraid of heights?" That last bit was obviously aimed at Artemis, the only non-flyer in the group.

~ ARTEMIS ~

Artemis' recollection of her two former schoolmates were as colorful as Noelle's rainbow-dyed hair that she remembered from their final year at Hogwarts. The dark and brooding Ravenclaw bookworm was her greatest rival - not just in terms of academics, but she actually looked up to Noelle in secret. Noelle seemed perfect in almost everything: grades, Quidditch, appearance and her mannerism. She had all that Artemis strived for, but there was one aspect that made the Gryffindor reluctant towards Noelle: she was into the use of Dark Magic, something that Artemis detested.

On the other hand, she wasn't fond of Aiden at first. She always felt a tinge of suspicion when he was being overly friendly towards her - she felt wary whenever he was around, sometimes even wondered if he was a stalker (she had an uneasy feeling that he was by her side all the time). It took her quite some time to finally acknowledge that he was a genuinely nice person. A small sense of guilt rose in her chest, from the occasions she remembered her throwing tempers at him.

As for the Slytherin hypocrite Miyu...

To her, he was literally her living nightmare: not once was she spared from the misery of being his constant prank target, which was worse when Peeves became his greatest worshipper. He might be an innocent-looking guy with a cute face that didn't seem to have aged at all, but after seven years she couldn't miss the cunning sparkle in his seductive dark eyes. If she had to compare him with Aiden... Well, Aiden didn't seem to be quite truthful with himself and would sometimes respond in ways to just to please people, but Miyu was a complete mystery to her - she could never tell when he was actually serious or simply a cheery sadist through and through.

She noticed that Noelle stiffened at the sight of Miyu - she wouldn't be surprised that he probably also had tricked her too many times to count. She felt a pang of sympathy towards the Ravenclaw girl.

"It's been so long, Artemis. How're you doing?"

"I'm good," she replied coolly. She raised an eyebrow at the remnants of multicolors still left among the mass of gold in Noelle's hair. "Still can't get those off?" She shot Miyu a stern glare and then ignored him just like the Ravenclaw did, turning her attention to Aiden instead.

"Are you still afraid of heights?"

Aiden's casual but unexpected question towards her made Artemis choked on her butterbeer. "I-It's none of your business!"

~ MIYU ~

Miyu helped himself to another round of free butterbeer - well, since it was ordered and would be paid by the blue-robed wizard anyway - while he plastered on his trademark grin on his face to welcome the Healer and the blond witch. If it wasn't for Artemis, he could barely recall their names (he could only remember faces - remembering names was too much trouble for him). He didn't react when Noelle slammed her heavy volumes on the table forcefully, missing his arm by inches; however, he had to swallow down the urge to burst out laughing at the title on the book cover. Any normal person who saw it would question Noelle's sanity, and Aiden's expression when he bumped into her had already proven that.

Spotting the few strands of rainbow-colored ones in the Ravenclaw girl's hair, Miyu couldn't help but feel smug about it: he had nicked a few phials of Rainbow Potion that Artemis was experimenting on and jinxed them with a weak Permanent-Sticking Charm. He then dropped a hint to Peeves and the poltergeist actually did the setup - it just so happened that Noelle was the one who walked right into the trap. He secretly liked Noelle with multicolored highlights among her gold, and he didn't feel sorry at all when Peeves dropped the balloons filled with the paint-like potion on her while cackling "wee Rainbowclaw" down the corridor.

Artemis was pretty much the complete opposite of Noelle: while the Ravenclaw was rather stoical and would usually just issue him an icy death threat, the Gryffindor would waste no time to give him a piece of her mind and chase him to the ends of the school corridors for a burning payback. It only added more entertainment to Miyu's remaining school life when Artemis became a Prefect in their fifth year - she was so fired up to catch him in his joke acts red-handed to make sure he would get the punishment he so deserved, but he was too sly for that and would send her running around in circles with his shikigami dolls.

Unlike the love-hate relationship he had with the two girls (he was well aware that he himself was the main cause of all the drama but he just couldn't resist getting amusing reactions from them), he was on rather friendly terms with the Hufflepuff, Aiden. Miyu found him a bit of a bore sometimes but pretty easy to get along with. They didn't share a lot of classes together, but on the Quidditch field the half-British half-Korean was a formidable opponent - he was the only Beater who was close to throwing Miyu off his broom, and Miyu did pride himself as the fastest flier of their time. The horrible incident that happened in the Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw match in their sixth year nearly killed Aiden and Quidditch was suspended for the rest of that year, but luckily he managed to recover fully. However, that did not deter the students from joining the tryouts to be on the house team - in fact, for the Slytherin tryout, the crowd was probably the worst that Miyu had ever encountered. He even had to resort to setting off the flash-bang fireworks that he modified from one of the joke stuffs he got from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes to disperse the mob of angry students who weren't picked for the team, but not without throwing in some fire-breathing dragon puppets to singe their hair for a bit of personal entertainment.

"You haven't changed much, Kisaragi. How's life without Peeves to do your dirty work?"

"Boring, of course. I kinda miss that dude," Miyu laughed in response. "But I don't want to go back to face Moaning Myrtle again. I swear she has hots for me." He let out an exaggerated sigh at the thought of dating a ghost girl. When Aiden asked Artemis about her acrophobia, he raised his eyebrows at her flustered reaction. He could vaguely remember the time the Slytherins had flying lessons with the Gryffindors and Artemis refused to get anywhere near the brooms, jabbing her wand at anyone who tried to taunt her about it. Two girls from his house grabbed her both sides and lifted her off the ground when the teacher wasn't looking; Miyu was the only nearest one to save her from getting broken limbs later.

That was probably the first interaction he ever had with Artemis.

● Aiden ●

Aiden grinned at Artemis’ reaction and rolled his eyes. Trust Artemis to fire up after a single question. “Calm yourself, I’ve had enough of screaming, demented people today.” Perhaps she wouldn’t catch on the underlying insult, but Aiden bit back a laugh and smiled into his butterbeer. If he was lucky (read: not), Artemis would fly off the hinge again. Truth be told, he missed it. He was so surrounded by monotony he’d forgotten what fun was. He’d occasionally kept in touch with some of his Hufflepuff friends but had lost contact with most of his other friends, including Artemis and Noelle.

After having graduated, his father had told him to “Make a decent career, boy! How are you going to provide for your family? Certainly not by riding a broom 24/7. And what would you tell your mother when she asks about your job? At least you could tell her you’re a doctor…” Things had gone on in this vein for quite a while until Aiden had had enough and, just to get his father off his back, accepted an intern position in St. Mungo’s while declining an offer from several professional Quidditch teams. And not as a reserve, as every new member started out. As a Beater, he would have been able to play in every match. He still missed it sometimes, much more than the blabbering of an old man that had fallen on his head and forgotten his own name.

At Miyu’s response, Aiden snorted. “No doubt, I wouldn’t be surprised if you showed up with a ghost girlfriend someday.” Of course, their Sixth and Seventh Years had been filled with drama, turmoil, teen angst and students he couldn’t even remember seeing before getting together and breaking up in a matter of days. It had been amusing, watching from the sidelines and occasionally getting himself dragging into it intentionally or not. Being a Quidditch legend – especially after Sixth Year – in his time at Hogwarts, Aiden had had no shortage of admirers and people constantly trying out for the team after he had become Captain, trying to take advantage of his good nature to gain a place. Fortunately, none were better than the current team and he’d only had to accept a Chaser and two reserves, all of whom were good. The dirty looks that decision had warranted, though, hadn’t been good.

His mind wandered back to Hogwarts and the three people he’d been friends with. It had been a stroke of luck, meeting them here. “What’s up with your books, Noelle?” He tipped his chin in her direction, watching her face go through a flurry of emotions, wondering how to answer. “You don’t have a tarantula farm at that mansion of yours by any chance, do you?” A snicker, and he found himself ducking away from a large butterbeer cork. Across him, Noelle was visibly frustrated at his jibe but he could see her fighting down a smile by the rapid appearance and disappearance of her dimple. A telltale sign he’d observed over the years. He had missed the Ravenclaw and the high level of intrigue she’d presented; while Artemis was predictable, Noelle was not. She was a closed book, a puzzle with pieces scattered by the winds. She’d kept him curious and nine years later, she still did.

Finishing up his butterbeer, Aiden thumped the empty mug down onto the rickety table. He stood and shoved his hands in his pockets. “I was going to go flying sometime later today but now that you’re here, we could go together. You game?” He knew Artemis had a phobia of flying but the other two were perfectly good fliers – he’d missed flying with familiar faces. Deep in his pocket laid his broom, one of the best considering he’d been saving up for it since he’d been eleven. Artemis’ condition briefly passed through his mind but he dismissed it. Surely the girl could get up on a broom even a little bit? It wasn’t like she’d fall and even if she did, she had three others to catch her.
● Noelle ●

Noelle was less than pleased to be back in the vicinity of Miyu Kisaragi. The very person who’d caused her untold misery and the reason why random streaks of her hair were still multicolored.

Inwardly, though, a frightening thought was coming to life. She’d missed it. She’d missed the fun of it. Her logical side immediately shot back, ”What was so fun about getting paint dumped on your hair and having your books missing? Don’t forget the day you had to walk barefoot all day because Peeves stole your shoes.” Those were plausible concerns but truthfully, Noelle missed the spontaneity of it all. But she sure as hell wasn’t going to admit it. Noelle was already watching her back, just in case Miyu decided to try something. She was never able to tell with him, his stupid, smug face giving nothing away until all hell broke loose. However, the unexpected thought that his smile was… magnetizing butted up out of nowhere, forcing a disgruntled Noelle to shove it back down, not happy in the least.

Unfortunately, avoiding him during Hogwarts hadn't been entirely possible. As most classes were either Slytherin and Ravenclaw or combined in the case of electives, Noelle had found it impossible to avoid him and had resorted to ducking her head and lying low. Of course, teachers had made that impossible too by usually partnering her up with him. Countless explosions later, he'd singed the ends of her hair and that was only the beginning of it. And, horrifyingly, she'd had to stifle a laugh during some of them - of course, when his accidents hadn't affected her, which was rare. If he ever found out she thought of him as amusing at times, she'd never live it down. But despite her confusing opinion on the asian boy, Noelle found it changing radically at times and she honestly missed all three of them.

Schooling her face back into a neutral expression from the slightly wistful smile, she once again found herself at a loss for words at Aiden’s jibe. Noelle knew he was only teasing but she couldn’t help but throw a butterbeer cork at him to shut him up, shoving down the smile that threatened to show. Her face colored lightly, a flurry of emotions on her face that she’d failed to hide. One quick tap later, her books were shrunk and in her pocket. No more teasing. And if she was lucky, they’d forget they were ever looking at a volume titled ‘Time Fairies and Where to Find Them’.

At Aiden’s offer, Noelle smiled and nodded. “I don’t have a broom, though. I left it at home.” Flying would be welcome after all this time. However, after a quick glance at Artemis, Noelle decided against it and regretted her words. She knew the Gryffindor hated flying, something she’d witnessed over time during the few flying classes Ravenclaws and Gryffindors had shared. “On second thought, I don’t feel like it. I need to go to Gringotts.” A visible shudder accompanied her words at the thoughts of the menacing goblins that had taken a liking to intentionally scaring her. “Do you want to come with me?” Noelle turned to Artemis, an encouraging smile on her face only slightly falling at the thought of facing a goblin. Though she was mostly doing it for Artemis, the girl’s company would surely be comforting. Now her only concern that her fear wasn’t obvious; Aiden and Miyu tagging along to witness her fidget and lean precariously away from the goblins wouldn’t be ideal. No, not at all. They could go bash heads over Quidditch instead.

~ MIYU ~

Miyu grinned thoughtfully at Aiden's joke about ghost girlfriends. "That actually sounds like a good idea, but instead of just girlfriends I'd love to have a nice ghostly maid team." A quick glance at Artemis' face that clearly spelled disbelief and anger, only to make him returned her with an evil smirk, amused that the Gryffindor girl actually took his words too seriously.

He pushed away his finished fourth butterbeer and reached out for the fifth one while watching Noelle sending a bottle cork flying towards the trainee Healer at the jibe of a tarantula farm at the pure-blood witch's mansion. Miyu couldn't help but chipped in with, "Oh, and I wonder if she also rides on those huge tarantula she has bred with all her heart. Tarantula racing sounds kinda fun." He wouldn't be surprised if the Ravenclaw sent a flying cork in his way too just like with Aiden.

When Aiden suggested about a flying get-together since this was the first time they met each other after graduating from Hogwarts, Miyu had expected Artemis to protest because of her phobia with heights, but Noelle declined also. "On second thought, I don't feel like it. I need to go to Gringotts."

"Gringotts for me too. Besides, I don't have my broomstick with me now. I came here by the Underground."

Artemis raised her eyebrows. "Hey, I took the Underground here also. How come I didn't see you?"

Miyu let out a sigh and patted the top of the Gryffindor's head. "How do you expect to find someone in an overcrowded train on a weekend?" He dodged swiftly when Artemis raised her hand to give him a hard smack.

"You!"

Artemis forced the rest of her butterbeer down her throat before she slammed down the empty bottle on the wooden table and glowered at former Hufflepuff. She could still keep her fear in check if it was just a few feet above the ground, but that wouldn't be fun for the other three seasoned fliers, especially those two energetic boys.

She could still vividly remember how Miyu actually saved her in their first year from falling to her death when she was bullied by two of her enemies from Slytherin during one of their flying class, but the memories of all the naughty tricks that he had played on her throughout her Hogwarts life far surpassed the little graditude she had for him. She had felt a little smug when she heard that Moaning Myrtle was quite fond of him and Aiden's joke about the possibility of him getting ghostly girlfriends, though now when she thought of it that guy probably also used Myrtle for his pranks as much as he had used Peeves, and she felt a little sorry for the poor, moaning ghost girl.

She was glad that Noelle turned Aiden's offer down and suggested that they should be going to Gringotts - all of them had already finished their drinks, and Miyu in particular had five empty bottles before him. (That jerk, she thought darkly.)

After they paid for their bills (and she felt annoyed again when she saw that Miyu was making Aiden to pay for him), the foursome went to the back of the Leaky Cauldron where the stone brick wall that would lead to Diagon Alley. Artemis did the honor of tapping the bricks before the wall shifted and revealed the archway to the busy magical street.

The Gryffindor girl noticed that the blond witch seemed to be getting increasingly nervous as they were moving closer and closer to the wizarding bank at the end of the road. She wasn't sure what the usually cool and composed Noelle was afraid about in Gringotts, but she grabbed the Ravenclaw girl's free hand and squeezed reassuringly.

Miyu had been eyeing at how oddly close Artemis and Noelle were - he knew very well that those two weren't exactly the best of friends, more like friendly rivals - but it didn't take him long to put the clues together. As the entrance to Gringotts came into clear view, he left Aiden to take the lead while he shuffled next to the former Ravenclaw.

"Say, are you actually scared of goblins?"
