Long Beach has always been known for its beach, shopping district, and overall sunny weather. Many events, such as the annual Long Beach Grand Prix, are held in this skyscraper city. It has also been known for its rampant gang activity, with new and old gangs merging and fighting, creating more trouble than the police can handle. Many people believe the police have been persuaded by money and drugs to let many of these crimes slip right under their noses.
Citizens have been getting fed up with the treatments from these thugs, but their Neighborhood Watch programs do nothing but put targets on people just wanting to help out. This is where our characters come into play. Our characters are all victims of crimes done by these gangsters and thieves. One day, while all of them are relaxing and hanging out together, one mentions a crime that happened to them recently. They all describe petty, or big, crimes that have been enacted upon them. The group decides that they've had enough of this and vow to protect the streets of Long Beach at whatever costs!
The problem is...
They don't have super powers.
Our heroes will dawn masks and capes, attempting to protect the city with whatever weapons, skills, or knowledge they can bring to the table. As they patrol the big city and stop crimes, they learn what it means to become a hero, how to balance their own moral with each others, and how the sacrifices can take a toll on their physical and emotional lives.
Appearance: Ally is well-built, standing at 5'4" weighing about 135 pounds. She's one of those people who don't look too strong until they flex or exercise. Her skin is slightly gold and easily tans during the summer when she's out and about. The only piercings she has are earrings. She has deep brown eyes that go dark in the center and lighter around the edges. She has dark brown, wavy hair and if she doesn't want to do anything with it she'll put it in a ponytail. Most of her clothes are functional. It's easy to find her wearing a figure-fitted T-shirt and jeans with some tennis shoes. If the heat is above 75 degrees F, she'll definitely exchange the T-shirt for a tank-top.
Personality: Ally is a pretty friendly person. She's not afraid to start a conversation with a stranger. She really enjoys talking to people and making new friends. Overall, she's the kind of person who would give you the last of her money if you're hungry, even if she's hungry too. She likes being active and doing physical activities, but she also loves to wind down with a good book and relax by herself. She has a lot of confidence in herself, but doesn't like to show off, unless being silly. As for her more negative traits, she's very stubborn and doesn't usually compromise easily. If you know which buttons to push she can get angry very easily. Once you do push those buttons, she's pretty good at holding a grudge and most likely won't talk to you.
Uniform: She wears a black leather jacket modified with a stretchy-spandex material at the joints for more flexibility with a simple black utility belt you can get on eBay and black cargo pants.
Powers/ Abilities: Ally has the power to turn her whole body into titanium. Because titanium is a low density metal, it doesn't slow her down too much. While in this form, she doesn't have much feeling and must be careful. If this form takes too much damage, her normal form will be seriously injured. A dent in her titanium form could result in a fractured limb, for example. It's also hard to keep this form and it puts a lot of strain on her body.
Because of the limits with her titanium form, Ally also carries around gadgets to help her in combat. Her "gadgets" are items that can be found at a firework stand, such as colored smoke bombs and strobing/flashing candles. Other than this, she relies on her strength and fighting skills to keep her out of danger.
Bio: Ally gained her powers young. On a walk home, she heard someone screaming. Being how she is, the young girl ran to help whoever it was screaming. In the end it turned out to be a set-up. It was a man who had attempted to kidnap her. Luckily this didn't happen. She was able to run and ended up hiding in a bush while the man continued to race passed her. She felt something in prick her hand and found a needle sticking out. She didn't know if it had been used previously, but the needle did push down into her hand, injecting whatever it was into her bloodstream. Being too young and naive to know the dangers of needles and drugs, she took it out and ran home quickly. Soon, she began to feel strange. She went to bed, and woke up with metallic skin, discovering she was made of metal. After hearing about the incident, excluding the needle, her father, who had been long divorced from her mother, put both her and her younger brother into fighting lessons.
Years later, Ally decided it was time to try her powers. Because of the dangerous activities around town, Ally figured the park would be a pretty secure place to practice transforming. She went behind a few trees, covered by the trees themselves and the brick wall perimeter of the park, she figured no one would see her. So, she tried transforming a few times in and out of the form before feeling paranoid and returning home.
@Leaves Alright, here she is. Sorry, took a bit longer than I anticipated. XD
Nicknames/Aliases: Anything is okay with her, though she doesn't have any specific nicknames at the moment.
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Occupation/Class: Blacksmith/Fighter
Kingdom of Origin: Yulia, but currently lives in Pradus (See backstory)
Description: Helena is well-built, standing at 5'4" weighing about 135 pounds. She's one of those people who don't look too strong until they flex or exercise. She has deep brown eyes that go dark in the center and lighter around the edges. She has dark brown, wavy hair which is many times worn down unless working or training.
Equipment: Generic smithing equipment, a one-handed sword she crafted, an iron shield, and leather armor, though she doesn't tend to carry these around. Probably has a small knife with her on all times, but doesn't want to use it unless needed.
Personality: Helena is a pretty friendly person. She's not afraid to start a conversation with a stranger. She really enjoys talking to people and making new friends. Overall, she's the kind of person who would give you the last of her money if you're hungry, even if she's hungry too. She has a lot of confidence in herself, but doesn't like to show off, unless being silly. She's also very stubborn and doesn't usually compromise easily. If you know which buttons to push she can get angry very easily, but usually won't get violent unless physically provoked.
Skills: She's an apprentice in smithing and can craft most common blades and is now focusing on learning more advanced blades. She is a skilled fist and sword fighter.
Weaknesses: She has a "bleeding heart." If an enemy begs for mercy, most likely she will show mercy, and even help them out with wounds depending on the situation.
Fatal Flaw: She has 0 knowledge of magic wielding and would have extreme trouble trying to defend against it. (Though not too sure how the magic works in this thread. XD)
[Brief History: It needs smoothing out- a lot-, but Helena's father, Warren, was a citizen of Pradus, and her mother, Katherine of Yulia. Warren was a simple mine worker while Katherine a powerful mage. Immediately, once the two first met, they vowed themselves to each other. The two met as often as they could, wanting to keep the meetings a secret because of the tensions. Soon, Katherine became pregnant. Although she couldn't quit her training in magic, she reduced it, as the physical consequences could cause her the loss of her unborn child. During this pregnancy, and due to the tensions between Yulia and Pradus, the couple agreed it would be safer to wait a while before seeing each other again. The problem was the custody of the unborn child. Both parents wanted to keep the child, but they couldn't settle a solution happily. Finally, Katherine gave birth, not to one, but to two daughters. Immediately she informed Warren. The two finally found a solution to their problem. One child would be given to each parent. So, Katherine chose Helena to go with Warren and live in Pradus. Her fraternal twin, Diane, remained in Yulia. Since this, Warren and Katherine lost touch. Despite this, both parents have informed the children about each other, though they have never met.
Because of the hard work in the mines, Warren died. Helena now owns the small house he once did (not sure if this is okay with the lore) and is an apprentice under one of the many blacksmiths. Through the years she has been trained in the art of the sword and hand-to-hand combat in case of a full-scaled revolution. When she can, she practices both techniques, making her well-rounded fighter.
Due to the death of her father and the overall harsh conditions put upon the citizens of Pradus, Helena is considering joining the rebel groups.
Other: She knows Diane's name, but if she were walking down the street and crossed her, she would have no way to recognize her as her twin as they aren't identical.
Full Name: Diane Dawson
Nicknames/Aliases: Her mother occasionally calls her Di, but she prefers Diana for anyone else.
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Occupation/Class: Mage
Kingdom of Origin: Yulia
Description: Diane is very thin, standing at 5'5" weighing about 115 pounds. She has very dark brown eyes with even darker flecks near the pupils. She has dark brown, wavy hair which she prefers to wear down than tying up. She wears flowing clothes because she feels she can use magic better that way. Equipment: Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of equipment a mage should have. She does have many books of spells and techniques.
Personality: Diane is a pretty quiet person and prefers to listen to someone talk over talking. At first she'll seem shy, but it's because she likes learning who someone is before opening up. She loves listening to others to learn who they are and will keep her talking not too personal. Once she does open up to someone, they will learn she can be hard to keep quiet.
Skills: I'm not exactly sure how the magic works, but she's still an apprentice. Though she is powerful, she is still learning a lot.
Weaknesses: She majorly lacks in physical strength. Although a strong apprentice, she isn't a master and that could be a problem.
Fatal Flaw: Diane has very little hand-to-hand combat training, so if someone runs up and punches her before she can cast a spell, she's done for.
Brief History: It needs smoothing out- a lot-, but Diane's father, Warren, was a citizen of Pradus, and her mother, Katherine of Yulia. Her fraternal twin, Diane, remained in Yulia. Since this, Warren and Katherine lost touch. Despite this, both parents have informed the children about each other, though they have never met.
So, Katherine taught Diane many elements of magic from a very young age. This led to Diane being very proficient in magic. Currently, she has switched teachers as both her and her mother thought it would be more beneficial. Diane has not seen her mother in a little over a year, but does exchange letters with her.
Other: She knows Helena's name, but if she were walking down the street and crossed her, she would have no way to recognize her as her twin as they aren't identical.
@VitoftheVoid I don't think I missed anything, but please let me know if I did. :3
@King Tai That sounds pretty good. XD I'm probably gonna do an interest check after school ends. Only got one more month and with all the testing I'm a bit busy. So if enough people are interested we can start fresh with more people. :3
