@Sarpedon... uh I don't think so because its actually been stated(40k fluff in general is conflicting remember cause Imps propaganda) some never painted the armor, it just turned red from all the murder. I decided that even before he had all the sorta 'I can know longer remember very well or consistently' he meticulously cleaned his armor, a habit he still had.
