Yep, I was indeed planning on having them be Colonial Marines. And I can totally work in the part where one of them knows the Preacher .

Just another quick note to everyone: I'm still working on the other NPC's, and a couple other minor things. I would love to have the first IC post up on Sunday. It's great to have this activity in the OOC, so I can't wait to see what kind of energy you all put into your character posts. I imagine it will be awesome.

Gavin nodded, swallowing another mouthful of sandwich. “Yes,” he said, wiping the crumbs from his moustache, “it would do us good to have a more educated opinion on both the culprit and his method. Paying Mr. Eadore a visit is still very much on the to do list. You should tag along, Park. It would be good to have a man educated in the ways of the human mind about to aid our little investigation. That is, to say, if you don’t have other pressing matters to attend to?”

Out of the corner of his eye, Gavin saw Abby look to him with the wink and the smile. He noticed at first that the expression was a wilted, half-hearted one, and then it soon brightened into a bow of pleasantness that lit up her entire face. Gavin was no expert in reading emotion, at least not any more than any other average person, but he thought he had a fairly good idea of what weighed on Abby’s mind.

The road that the small trio was now pursuing could end several different ways, but it ultimately came down to two major outcomes—that though a dullard, Sylus Adams had carried out his crimes on his own accord, as was believed, or something more sinister had taken place.

Gavin gave Abby a knowing, thin lipped smile in return. He wished nothing more than to have this strange circumstance behind them, and the rest of the crew aboard the Copernicus. There was too much to be done, too much at stake, for the last sliver of humanity to be worried about a cold-hearted killer and rapist having his shadow still lingering amongst them.

Pushing the small remainder of his sandwich away, Gavin shrugged. “I’m ready whenever you all are. I’ll admit, I’m hoping against all hope that in this instance I end up just looking paranoid.”

I'm thinking for the security team members, providing that no one else comes forward and wants to create a character, that I'll just make some generic ones as NPC's. You'll be running them mostly, TNY. I just want the option for other people to be able to easily interact with them for whatever reason.

Maybe we could do some more relationship building before the RP officially starts. This wouldn't have to mean delaying it, of course. But, honestly, I don't really know how we'd go about something like that. PMing? some sort of convo over a shared document site?

A splendid and superb idea, TNY. I very much encourage this. I think PM's would be the best way to go about ironing out the details. If anyone has interest in making a little background between characters, go ahead and shoot out some messages. I'm still working on a couple NPC's at the moment, but if anyone would be keen to developing a little history with Lena, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a nice night (depending on your time zone of course ). At any rate, a big thank you to Igraine for her help in the OOC. You're as indispensable as ever.

Musketman, just to play off of what Grainy said, if you read the OP you'll get a lot of relevant info. On top of that, however, I highly recommend at least watching the movie Prometheus. Barring that, you could easily wiki the plot summary of the film and have a fairly good grasp on what will be going on.

As to death, and its role in this RP, people can certainly die. I wasn't intending to kill off people at random though, or just because. I'd like to give players the opportunity to get out of their sticky situation, at least for a while. However, once again Grainy is all too correct...if you are gone without notice for an extended period of time, your character will die in a horrible fashion .
