When Rebecca got up to shake the bus driver's hand, Noelani took the cue to stand, shoulder a hefty backpack, and followed the smaller girl out of the bus. When she passed by the bus driver she gave him a respectful nod of her head, then promptly took the stairs of the bus two at a time, and walked to the side of Rebecca.

She pulled the collar of her jacket up around her ears and shrugged into it for more warmth, slightly shivering. This was not New York, and definitely not California, and the chill here seemed to creep into her bones. She flared her power to warm herself up, and underneath her ashen skin veins of molten gold shone through, projecting a warmth in an area around her to stave off the permeating chill. As they passed through the monstrous gateway, Noelani looked down at Rebecca, her golden eyes flaring. "Seems pretty odd, eh?" She said, indicating the grounds. "Not a soul in sight. Do you think we've been brought up here to be experimented on in secret or something?"

Noelani's eyes were closed and headphones encased her ears, a tactic she used to avoid conversations when they would only be awkward. From them a relaxing mix played, drowning out most noises. She barely heard one of the other inhabitants of the bus speak up, asking about the large and ominously empty school grounds. She pushed one headphone to the side and lazily squinted her eyes open, their golden glow reflecting in the window next to her and illuminating her immediate surroundings in a soft light. She wondered if they were only invited up here to be the personal groundskeepers and servants of the weird old man who owned the place. She had no problems cooking, she supposed. She was about to close her eyes again when another student spoke up, and she softly snorted at him bugging the bus driver, who very obviously didn't want to be spoken to.

"Don't know when to quit, do you?" Noelani murmured softly to herself, but she didn't really care if anyone else heard, either. She slid her headphones back on, folded her arms back over her, and closed her eyes.

That is a really good question. I'd assume she'd get a temporary boost in power. It would probably come in helpful during night fights or bad situations.

Makes for a funny visual though, Ray shooting her in the middle of a dark alley way or intense fight lol.

Noelani is rather tall, standing at 6'1''. She is lean and well muscled from her vigorous training. Before her encounter with the Mists, her skin was a beautiful tan and her eyes were hazel. Now, her skin is an ashen grey and her eyes glow golden.

Motives: Noelani seeks to progress herself further, whether it be via physical fitness, education, or tackling her powers. Her greatest desire is to figure out the mystery of the Mists and put a stop to them, and she is relentless.

Personality: Noelani is a bit of a brute, with an attitude to match. She prefers to do things her way, and rarely listens to peers - but will always listen to those she considers in an authoritative position over her. She will test everyone around her, constantly pushing them further and further with her commentary, to see if they snap or bend under her onslaught; whether it's joking around, compliments, or an argument. She isn't mean, per say, but she isn't somebody everyone considers exactly nice, either. She does have a strict protective streak over those she considers defenseless, and holds a strict personal honor code. Anyone who is seen as abusing their powers to hurt others in any way is an enemy in her eyes.

Backstory: Noelani is one of six children, and neither the oldest nor the youngest. She simply existed in the middle, but nonetheless was expected to be good at something by her over-achieving parents. Noelani exceeded in martial arts from a young age, to the pleasure of her mother, and at the chagrin of her father, who wanted Noelani to be more feminine. In order to seek a balance, Noelani also took cooking courses to please her more traditional father, and was on her way to becoming a professional chef before the incident occurred in Union City.

She was learning under the tutelage of a prominent chef when the UFO struck, and the shock waves from the impact caused the restaurant they were in to collapse. Noelani barely escaped with her life, knowing full well that she left her mentor behind to die, and ran as far as she could, unsure if they were being bombed or what was happening.

It wasn't until later that Noelani discovered what had really happened, and she went to live with her parents in California to recover from the shock. For once, they let her be without pushing her. Even when her powers manifested themselves, terrifying her younger siblings and mystifying her older ones, her parents still allowed her to live with them. Even so, it was a relief when the letter came, inviting Noelani to attend the mysterious school, and not wanting to be a burden to her family any longer, Noelani went.

Powers/abilities: Light Absorption & Manipulation. She is able to suck the light out of the vicinity and use it to fuel herself. The applications of this can be as simple as creating utter darkness in an area (no larger than a 12ft x 12ft bedroom), and she can empower herself as a result of the light, gaining enhanced physical abilities (nothing superhuman, but above the norm for a regular human) and limited flight (sort of like hovering or gliding, but not true flight). This ability is more powerful during the day, and weaker at night.

Skills: She was trained in MMA, practicing various forms of martial arts, but more than that... Noelani loves to cook. Nothing makes her happier than a well made and well presented meal, and she often volunteers in the cafeteria to serve up dishes with her own personal flair.

Velma is 2'9'' in height and weighs an impressive 45lbs. Her eyes are inhumanly large and very dark in color. What little can be seen of her skin, or fur as it were, is a walnut brown with slight tints of anber streaking through it. She has plenty of whiskers that peek out from underneath the forest green cloak she commonly wears, as well as a tail that is as long as she is tall. The other noticeable thing is that she always wears cowboy boots.

Power

Velma is a rat girl whose only extraordinary powers are that is she has a prehensile tail, she can speak to actual rats, and she is capable of sniffing anything out as long as she has a reference to it beforehand. She is also rather handy with thrown implements, such as darts or shuriken.

Background

Velma was unceremoniously dumped at the Safe Haven as an infant. She has grown up in the Haven and has never known prejudice or ridicule the same way as others have, and has developed a quirky, mischevious personality because of it. Nothing remarkable has happened in her life, other than the fact that she is a humanoid rat. But she doesn't know any other life, and seeing all the strange happenings around the Haven has made her believe that she is rather normal in comparison to others.

When she wants to be alone or has had a bad day, Velma tends to visit the stables. She likes the company of the rats who make their home there in the nooks and crannies, but she also likes the company of the stable man, Jack Colles. Even if he is stand-offish and she annoys him at times.

She has a penchant of "borrowing" other people's things that is rather well-known and rather comical in nature. Mostly their food-stuffs.

Richard, or Big "D" as many people call him, stands at 6'4'' and is 250lbs of pure unadulterated muscle. He is remarkably well-kept and always wears suits. He is never seen without a firearm at his side.

Power

He is a rooster man and deals with all the trappings that come with being a rooster man, including being a badass. His only great power that hasn't been acquired through practice is his "Rooster Eye", which allows him to zoom his vision in and out. His learned skills include martial arts, marksmanship, and first aid. He's also a badass at driving a motorcycle.

Background

Richard grew up as a normal boy until puberty, and then all hell broke loose. He transformed over night into the rooster man we all know and love. He doesn't talk about what happened after that, but it is a known fact that he has been at the Haven for a long time, keeping the students and campus safe from external forces. He is fiercely loyal to the headmaster of the Haven, but sometimes clashes with other members of the staff. His official title is "Campus Patrol Man".
