@MiddleEarthRoze

I mean, I get the reasons, sort of. Then again, I've gathered that this shipping thing is popular among fangirls of shows like Supernatural and Doctor Who and movies like Harry Potter and Hunger Games. three of which i found to be mediocre and lacking in many aspects

it must be a fandom thing, though.

:/ "fangirls" is such a stupid term, tbh. It's a term used to put down women for liking something.

When guys talk about football and what team they want to win, they're not called "fanboys" - they're just fans.

I can see where your coming from, but I disagree. Shipping isn't restricted to just "fangirls" - anyone who watches any show that has slight romance and offhandedly says "i want her/him to get with her/him" is shipping. My dad, whether he knows it or not, ships people all the time and people ship for different reasons. There are those who ship a couple because of chemistry, and others who think they should be together in order to serve the plot.

Destiel, for instance, does not serve the plot - however their chemistry is undeniable that even the actors have to acknowledge it occasionally. This doesn't mean that, just because it focuses on the character versus the plot, that it's inferior to other ships.

But you're entitled to your opinion

EDIT: perhaps to more accurately compare; when my male friend says he likes harry potter and had wanted hermione and harry to get together, he was not called a "fanboy" or anything at all, really
also i apologize for being a pleb about these things but

why are people so obsessed with shipping

what is it about shipping that brings you such joy and fulfillment? i must know these things

i like the interaction with other characters c:

it's a lot of fun to be able to write that deep connection between two people along with fluffy cuddles and smoochies by the warm fire with blankets wrapped around them and five fuzzy socks on and hella agonizing angst where one of them goes fucking blind or dies or something (:<
