Interesting. You have my interest.
Roy breathed deeply. Keeping his mouth shut. His throat dry as he went to speak; instead he made a high pitched squeaking sound. He took a few more deep breaths and then cleared his throat.
“I’m sorry about my outburst…” He said slowly, his hands shaking. “May we we excused for a moment…?” He asked. GA nodded. Roy gestured for Garth to come with him as he walked out. Roy found an empty room and walked in, glancing around he could see it was empty save a coffee table and some chairs. Roy took off his quiver, dropped it on the floor, put his back against the wall, slid down and buried his hand in his hands. With a deep remorseful sigh he just sat there, eyes closed and shaking his head. He felt like a colossal idiot.

Back in other room Kate looked over at the adults. Everything seemed very tense. The only noise was Wiccan talking in muted tones on his cell phone. Green Arrow just crossed arms and looked over at Captain America with an ‘I told you so’ look on his face. Hawkeye went to say something, but a look from Batman kept him quiet. Kate frowned, before leaning over to Peter.
“Say something…” She whispered quietly. Superman made his way to centre of the room. Looking like he was about to say something.
Roy found himself panting. It felt like everyone was more interested in talking behind his back. Roy thought for a moment, his voice didn’t crack before did it…? He glared over at Wiccan, who suddenly pulled out his cell phone.
“Alright I may be asking a little much. But GA was kind enough to tell me because he trusts me. I can see it’s not him I should be angry at.” He said.
“There’s a reason people keep secrets kid.” Clint said, even though Aquaman was still holding him back.
“Said the former S.H.I.E.L.D agent.” GA spat.
“Arrow. We’ve talked about this…” Batman growled, in his usual intimidating voice.
“I told him because keeping the space station that is orbiting the planet a secret is a stupid idea.” Ollie said. “There I said it.” Ollie added.

“OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS! DRAMA BOMB!” Kate half shouted as she waved her arms about. She didn’t really care at this point. But if Roy had made Bucky walk out she was going to make him regret it.

Roy looked around the room; he didn’t feel like he was welcome anymore. He had ruined what was meant to the day where everyone took the first step to becoming heroes known the world over.
“It’s alright Ollie… I shouldn't have said anything.” Roy said. “Clearly I’m not ready to be part of a team.”
“Roy…” Ollie said. “You’re welcome here.”
“I wouldn’t say that…” Hawkeye interrupted before Aquaman twisted his arm, shutting him up before he could say anything to rile up Ollie. GA just side eyed Clint before walking over to Roy.
“We talked about this… being part of this team will be good for you… But if you want to go solo… I won’t stop you…” Oliver said in a fatherly sort of way. Roy thought for a moment. Scanning the room, Batgirl didn't seemed too surprised, it seemed there were plenty of secrets on the Bat side of things… Roy couldn’t help but frown when he looked at Spidey. He couldn't trust the guy so long as his face was covered.
“I suppose it’s easy to be a smart ass when you don’t want to be here.” Roy called to Bucky. Breaking the glaring contest the Captain and Bucky were having.

Kate made herself comfortable; before looking over at Spidey as he spoke.
“That actually makes sense webhead.” She said. Realizing the two were sitting next to each other. She shifted her focus back the group in the middle.

Roy stormed over to Bucky.
“I’m sure the good Captain hasn't told you a lot of things.” Roy said with an air of smugness. “I assume he also neglected to tell you this whole building is just a front for tourists?”
“ROY!” GA shouted.
“Oh? Go on Red…” Hawkeye chuckled. “Did Green Arrow tell you something he wasn’t supposed to?”
“Oooooohh!” Kate said tapping her fingers together, getting giddy. Steve was not looking at them; he had turned his attention to Oliver. On either side of him was Hawkeye, trying not to laugh and Batman. Ollie just looked at Roy, not wanting to look at either of the other three.
“This whole building is just a pit stop, to catch Zeta Beam teleports to the real HQ, an orbiting satellite; called the Watchtower.” At Roy’s statement the room went quiet. Kate’s jaw dropped, followed by Clint smacking Oliver upside the head.
“YOU TOLD HIM?!” Clint shouted. Ollie growled Batman had to grab Ollie’s fist to stop him from retaliating.
“He did.” Roy said.
“Alright Bucky.” Roy said holding his upper arm with his left hand, trying to rub the soreness away. “Just thought I’d say hi.” He muttered to himself before sighing. The guy clearly still needed time. As Roy turned around he bumped into Kate, who had been staring up at the giant Hank’s backside.
“Watch where you’re oh… It’s you.” She said. Roy and Kate stared at each other before laughing and fist bumping. “I see you met Bucky.” She said. Roy shook his head.
“If you could say that…” Roy said. Kate just shrugged.
“Clint said he’s still suffering culture shock. Or maybe he just doesn’t like you.” She said teasing.

Roy brushed her off before they were called up and forced to stand on a stage while Cap and Superman took turns making the same long speech about “The New Generation of Justice.” Roy looked at the others; the only one who seemed like they wanted to give a speech was Garth. Not that he could see the look on Spider Man’s face. Roy just spun a quick yarn, paraphrasing what he and Ollie had talked about when he decided to stop being Green Arrow’s sidekick and become his own hero as Red Arrow. The crowd seemed to eat it up. Even if he heard a few smart-alecky remarks to the effect of “Speedy was such a stupid name anyway… it made no sense!” Roy just returned to his spot in the line and did his best Batman impression. Kate walked up to the podium and shrugged.
“I’m not much for making speeches.” Then she turned around and stood next to Spidey. “There you go webhead.” She whispered as the crowd laughed. “Warmed them up for ya.”

Finally after the whole thing was over they were given their own ID cards. Roy smiled. “Finally we’re getting somewhere!” He said aloud, twirling it in his fingers. Before admiring the holographic image of himself. “Neat…” He said looking at it from different angles.
“Of course the library as well.” Captain America said as he showed them around. Roy crossed his arms, he already knew this. “Go ahead take a seat, make yourselves at home.” Roy looked around. Everyone had taken a seat. There was a muffled sound as he looked at one of the chair, it had been Kate.
“It was the chair I swear.” She said to no one in particular. Roy just looked at the adults. Superman, Batman, Cap, Iron Man, Hawkeye and GA among others were clearly up to something.
“…We need to have a debriefing on this subject matter Wolverine wants to go into.” Batman reminded Captain America. “Alright very well.” The Captain nodded. Roy felt anger surge through him. He knew this wasn’t the real HQ. Iron Man was just about to open a door marked “Justice League Members Only” Roy clenched his fists and took a few steps forward past the chairs.
“THAT’S IT?” He said loud enough to break the silence and the adults all turned to look at him. Roy stood his ground and looking at GA in particular. “You promised us a real look inside. Not a glorified backstage pass!”
“It’s a first step. You’ve been granted access few others get…” Aquaman said in a matter of fact manner. Roy rose an eyebrow before looking up at the large glass window full of tourists and their flashing cameras.
“Oh really? WHO CARES WHAT SIDE OF THE GLASS WE’RE ON?” Roy shouted, gesturing at the window. GA stepped forward.
“Roy… You just need to be patient…” He said, trying to defuse the situation.
“What I need is respect. You’re still treating me like a kid!”
“Speedy I…” GA said, fumbling his words.
“AH! I knew it!” Roy shouted and pointing at him. “If you had it your way I’d still be sharpening your arrows!” Roy growled.
“Red Arrow. “ Boomed a voice. “Blowing up like this is not going to help you.” It was Captain America. He put his arm in front of GA to stop him taking another step. The ‘good captain’ had a very intense stare; Roy gulped as he could see where Bucky had got it from. “You may think you’re ready, Green Arrow highly recommended you for membership. But you must understand…” Cap said with authority. Roy’s nostrils flared, Cap was talking down to him. He hated being talked down to.
Haha.

I mean where's Sixsmith?
Roy's epic quest for a handshake is well underway.

But seriously, where's Bucky?
Kate rose her hand to say something, fuming as she pointed at Spider Man. She pouted before lowering her finger.
"You win this round." She muttered to herself. "Nerd." She snapped before turning away to look around at everyone. Clint was talking to the other heroes. Batgirl was talking Wiccan. "Oh good... people I know." She said with a smile.

A loud THUD made her spin around. Robin the boy wonder had apparently made some sort of entrance. And she missed it. The crowd started laughing. Kate frowned. "Sure sure..." She said to one obnoxious teenager who seemed to be in the process of uploading the moment to Youtube. "Yes make fun of the Boy Wonder. I'm sure he'll keep it in mind if you're ever in trouble." The kid clicked cancel and walked off. Not noticing who said it. Kate smiled. She felt better.

She looked around and someone in the corner caught her eye. "Oh..." She said as she walked over to get a better look at him. "Just as cute in person..." She said as she looked at Bucky. Taking a moment before she noticed another archer. Whose hand was extended, and his face had a stubborn look on it. Kate crossed her arms. Did they even have handshakes back in World War II? She thought.
The few seconds that past felt hours as Roy stood there. Roy felt his hand start to shake, the longer he held his arm out the sorer it begun to feel. Roy refused to lower his hand all the same as he looked into Bucky's piercing gaze.
"I said my name's Red Arrow... I'm honored to meet you."
The closest Zeta beam station had been a phone booth a few blocks away. Kate growled as she hurried across the street. At least once she granted inside she would be allowed to use the zeta beams directly to and from the HQ. She was panting as she forced her way through the crowd.
"Excuse me..." She said. "Pardon me..." She forced her way through the crowd. Only for said crowd to imminently part as Hawkeye strode up.
"Yes thank you." Clint said. He smiled for a few photos, only to grit his teeth when someone called him "Purple Arrow". Kate rushed up the steps and reached the door. Looking through the glass, she could see everyone. Among them Aqualad, Wiccan, Batgirl and some of the adult heroes inside. She wiped her brow.
"Whoo... made it!" She said with a smile. She went to go in but slammed into the door. "What the?" She grunted. "Who the... LOCKS THE...! GAH!" She said while frantically trying to open the door. Clint joined her and just reached over her shoulder, grabbed the handle and pulled.
"Push, not pull." Clint said. Kate pouted as she moved inside, only to bump into Peter.
"Oh sorry!" She said before looking at him properly. "Oh great. I'm later than Spider-Man!" She shouted. "Tell me you Zeta Beamed here!" She asked. Clint sighed as he walked past them, joining the adults.
"About time you showed up Hawkeye." Green Arrow said. Clint just glared at Oliver for a second.
"I would have been here sooner... But someone didn't want to get out of bed this morning." Clint said looking back at Kate. Who had her head in her hands, as it dawned on her that Spidey beat her here by Web Swinging. Clint sighed. "She didn't have her coffee this morning..." He said looking back at the others. "So! Who else are we waiting for?" He said rubbing his hands together.
Half an hour earlier.
A New York apartment.

Kate groaned as her alarm buzzed loudly. She struggling to open her eyes, her eyelids felt very heavy. She felt something jab her in the gut.
“Rise and shine sleeping beauty.” Clint said, poking her in ribs with the end of his bow. “You don’t want to be late…” He said. Kate groaned, straining to get her eyes open she looked at the clock. 1:09 PM came into focus.
“What day is it today…?” She moaned.
“The 4th.” Clint answered emphatically. As Kate’s vision focused, she saw Clint was in his Hawkeye getup. “Of July.” He added. Kate bolted upright.
“AW CRAP!” She shouted and leapt out of bed. Clint just put down the fresh mug of coffee down on the counter and walked out. Kate rushed around the room in a panic. Her bed hair made her look like the bride of Frankenstein. She grabbed her Hawkeye costume and pulled it on.
“I told you not to stay up too late.” Clint mused outside her door. Kate ignored him as she emerged from her room, strode across to the bathroom and stuck her head under the shower. The water was cold, but Kate just made sure just her hair was wet before turning the tap off and dried it with a towel.
“Where’s the nearest Zeta Beam?” She said as she walked into the hall, attacking her long black hair with a brush.
“I thought you didn’t like…” Clint said.
“I’ll marry whichever one gets us to DC.” She said moving past him. She threw the brush into the bedroom and grabbed a thin purple scrunchie and did her hair into a ponytail. “Well come on!” She shouted. Clint sighed and looked at the mug of coffee on the bedside table.
Present time.
Justice League HQ
Washington DC.

Roy was taken back; he had never seen Batgirl acting so… giddy as she posed for photos. He felt something heavy drop in his stomach as he looked around. Many of the adults had crowds of people wanting photos and autographs, even Green Arrow. He still had a long why to go it seemed. He turned his attention back to Batgirl, realising too late she had apparently answered him.
“Err yeah… sure.” He said. Just nod Harper… He thought. Thankfully some Thor fanboy tapped her on the shoulder. The boy had to be sixteen or something.
"Hi, hi! Billy Kaplan. Uh. Yeah. Hi! Wow. Is that outfit the real deal? Did you make this? Or did Batman? Or was it someone else? If forgot. Just... oh my God…” Rambled the boy, who was talking so fast Roy was amazed he could even breathe. Roy thought for a moment, he had heard that name before. Then his jaw dropped. The kid was Wiccan, from what Roy knew he was easily one of the most powerful people in the whole building. Possibly even the entire planet. He took a deep breath. At least he was on their side. He turned to look for Garth, hoping he wasn’t busy talking to somebody when he saw a scowling individual in the corner. He was wearing a mask and had what appeared to be bionic arm. Roy couldn’t believe it, he thought Ollie had been joking, but there he was. Bucky, the same Bucky who had thought alongside Captain America during the war. Roy met his guise. Roy couldn’t help but feel like he was staring down a growling German Shepard. He walked closer and found his voice.
“Hello there.” Roy said as he walked over. “Roy Arrow… Err Red Arrow.” He said nervously, hating himself for mixing his names up, only to realise the hand he had extended would mean Bucky would have to use his bionic hand to shake his.
