"Wait, that's your mother's?! I feel like I might be out of my league here, heeeeeh..." Kanoko blanched, a nervous smile spreading across her face as she continued to work on the Superbia. It was expected that the kids of some of the most prominent fighters would become fighters themselves, but she didn't think that the mother would be so renown as to have her gunpla interred in an exhibit! Snapping the legs together to clear her thoughts and calm her nerves, she looked back up at Cassandra, remembering the Unicorn's stiff joints. "Oh, right! I think I have something for that..."

The carrot-topped girl quickly rifled through her gear, checking the cases for what she was looking for before neatly putting them away. Opening up a small box full of miscellaneous supplies, she took out a tube of what looked like oil, handing it over to her. "Here, put just a drop in the shoulder joints. It'll loosen them up just enough so that they can move easily, but won't ruin their posability. After all, you don't want floppy joints mid-battle."

Hearing the person walk in as she finished her GN-X Superbia, Hiling Care's special unit, she picked up her gunpla, following after the assistant. "Oooh, why am I getting a bad feeling?"
"If anything, y'might wanna see if you can't grab frame replacement parts for the RG. RG frames are sturdy themselves, although the connections may not always be, but trying to make replacement parts or repairing them is a pain. I...er...snapped quite a few frames when I started out building them and always had to order extra until I refined my techniques. Still, if we're gonna be battling, it'd definitely be my recommendation," Kanoko noted, watching as Cassandra started to build her RG RX-0.

It was perhaps needless, as the RG frame for the RX-0 was incredibly sturdy, so much so that there were very few others that she owned that could compare. Perhaps some minor lubricant to ease up the friction, but even still, that was almost a non-issue. Cracking open the Superbia box, her green eyes marveled at the plastic inside.

The Superbia was a newer kit, and as such had some redesigned framing. She knew from some experience that the older 00 kits had weird joints, but she had done her best to craft some herself, which had improved the articulation immensely. Still, the GN-X Superbia seemed to have all the right points of poseability to her, and so she cut open the runner bags, beginning her build process. "This must be part of the newer GN-XIV runners they've got put out. It's a lot nicer than the first ones..."
Following after Justin and Cassandra, Kanoko left her materials at the seating area, stepping into the next room that the lab assistant had pointed out. Upon entering, she was floored with walls of Gunpla, different grades in 1/144 and of so many different kits that it seemed endless. Her eyes followed her two fellow applicants as they gathered their kits, a Duel Gundam with the full assault shroud and a real-grade Unicorn Gundam.

She had plenty of UC kits, heck she brought two to the exams. What would she pick? After all, members here already had Iron-Blood Orphans kits. What could she do to be even slightly different?

As her gaze crossed the walls of gunpla, something strange piqued her interest. It was a kit from a side story, and a grunt suit to boot. Moving close to its slot in the shelves, she tenderly pulled it out to look at it.

A GN-X Superba. An advanced, high-spec version of the original GN-X and GN-XII used by the Earth Sphere Federation in Gundam 00. This one was dark blue instead, navy with some black and grey, but its visage called to her.

She rarely had a heart for grunt suits unless they were particularly endearing. This one simply clicked, like her fingers were itching to tear it open and start cutting the parts from their sprues.

"I'll...take it. I'll be the odd duck out this time."
"Ch, he's right. I don't think it's going to do much to deter them though, they seem pretty intent on kicking each other's asses," Kanoko replied, having stepped away from the two bickering fighters before they got serious. Packing her Sinanju Stein away with the thought of repairing the original limbs later, she looked over at Justin, watching him patch up the Cherudim. "Do you need any tools for now? I got some putty and some extra pla plates that you can use for now. I have more elsewhere, just not in this case with me currently."

Noticing Cassandra's shifting tone and the feeling of dread that was filling the air, she looked up at the brunette, tugging on her shirt. "Hey, don't make it personal yet. If you want to do that, kick her ass. I mean, isn't the point of a Gunpla battle using everything at your suit's disposal? It's just her opinion, even if it doesn't agree with yours."
"Usually for this kind of stuff you have to have it commissioned...I made my own metal verniers, but that took a lot of time and some practice with a 3D metal printer. Even then, they're small and nowhere near as large of a project as this is...working with chrome is incredibly difficult and requires a lot of patience. You put it on a lot of the suit's weapons! If we ever go up against each other, I'm gonna have to play keep away," Kanoko joked, taking the sword gently in her hands and making sure not to smudge the finish. It was like a mirror, shined to perfection, to the point where she could see herself in the surface of the metal.

It was far more impressive than most metalwork she had seen in gunpla, and much better than even her own skills with metal. She was a little bit jealous! But that was always the case when faced with greatness.
Kanoko raised an eyebrow, chuckling a little. "Char is a great pilot, but he suffers the fate of being overhyped by his supporters. That, or maybe Amuro is ridiculously strong even for a protagonist. At the very least you didn't get an arm blown off! I gotta replace the whole joint and build new ones later."

Leaving her Stein for the moment, a twinkle caught her eye near Sachi's gear, and her eyes fell upon the chrome parts used on the Barbatos Lupus' weapons. Breathing in sharply, her dour expression turned gleeful before she approached, pointing at the Gundam Frame. "Hey, may I take a look at your Lupus? This is the first time I've ever seen someone plate weapons like that! Did you use a laser etcher or did you have a metal printer? I have a few metal parts in my Sinanju, but not where they..ah...should be. Mostly the verniers and thruster bells..."
"It's not a glitch...A glitch would've had a few more bits of data out of place. If the guy's a tech, he could easily change it mid-stream, especially if they developed the program," Kanoko mused, hearing Cassandra's words. She thankfully had spares, and the parts she could repair later, but it still irked her slightly that the Sinanju Stein had been crippled so readily in an exam. Swapping out the head for the original one and replacing all the joints with new ones, plus repairing the arm, she had the gunpla set on the little foldout table, making sure it was being cared for. "Still, annoyed. I could've made due with just-as-good parts that weren't primed for a show. Iegh, I thought they wanted to check quality and craftsmanship..."
"If the next challanger is ready step up or forfiet and leave.” The voice called waiting for the next person to come up his patience nearing its end but it mattered little to him. Soon his part in this would be over or so he hoped. “Look the field is space difficult C when your ready go.” He said once more as the field appeared from the plavsky particles as GM type C came into view their guns at the ready.

“I’ll step up, you impatient dick. Geez...for a proctor of the most impressive Gunpla school besides the academy, you’re a piece of work,” Kanoko sighed, opening up her gunpla case to reveal her units of choice. Taking out the white visage of the Sinanju Stein, she made her way to the exam station, placing her GP base down with the Sinanju on top.”

“Field: Space. Model Damage Type, Set to C. Are you ready?”

A customized control scheme popped up for Kanoko, the beefy girl cracking her knuckles before wrapping them around the joysticks. “Sorry, did a little tinkering and set the base’s control system to something a little more...traditional. I didn’t like the original setup. Now, Kanoko, in the Sinanju Stein, launching!”

The enormous thrusters on the back of the suit opened up with a howl as her high-mobility prototype tore out of the launch bay, the monoeye showing her the void of space...with an innumerable amount of GM Type C’s. Grinning widely, her fingers tapped away at the controls on the joysticks, the Sinanju reaching back to its backskirt and grabbing the bazooka attachment before mating it with the rifle. Screaming forward into the fray, she blasted upwards at incredible speed as a massive bombardment of beams erupted towards her, lancing the black sky with bright flashes of megaparticles.

A number of GMs roared towards her, spraying at the Stein with a barrage of small beams from their beam spray guns, which she dodged almost effortlessly with quick side-to-side boosts, returning their volley with well-aimed blasts of her own. The GM closest to her was gored by one of her golden beams before exploding, flinching as the core block was immediately destroyed. The second one rushing through the cloud of debris managed to draw its beam saber before it too was ripped in half, a third and fourth following as their comrade exploded.

“Man, you guys are persistent…” Kanoko mused before she parried the third and stabbed it with the beam saber hidden in the Sinanju’s right wrist, slicing clean through its torso before throwing the corpse at the fourth. The head vulcans rumbled with a staccato of fire as they ripped through the back of the third GM and rippled across the fourth’s torso, disabling it as she shoved the two floating junk heaps aside to delve into the fray. Her suit left a blazing trail of light as her thruster pack burned heavily, the enormous bells swiveling left and right as she dodged and wove through the amassed formation of GMs.

The massed produced mobile suits were almost no match for her psycoframe prototype, her fingers running across the throttles and control with practiced efficiency as she made the mobile suit dance across the void of space. Explosions devoid of sound bloomed around her while floating hunks of crippled machinery bumped and crashed, strewn about by the fury of her assault. The bazooka belched its fire once or twice at particularly troublesome suits, but she saved the most powerful of her armaments for the last. She had but five shots in her hidden trump card, and wasting them on a bunch of mooks would be a tragedy.

It didn’t take too long for her to be surrounded, however, and as she placed the beam rifle on the Stein’s back skirt to prevent its loss, she was engulfed in a writhing mass of mobile suits that were trying to cripple the unit by destroying its joints point blank. Feeling the mass of the GMs pulling at her unit’s arms and legs, Kanoko grunted in annoyance. “You just won’t stop, will you?”

She licked her lips, gripping the controls and ramming them forward. “Well then, I guess I’ll have make you stop, PERMANENTLY!” The Sinanju’s monstrous engines and reactor roared with fury before she whirled the mass of GMs around, breaking the right and left arms free enough to activate the beam sabers in the wrist. Bright, pink streams of energy poured from the tonfas and ripped into the mass of gathered GMs, carving canyons into the metal chassis and streaming molten rivulets across the vastness of space.

Screaming out of the mass of butchered GM Type Cs, Kanoko floored the throttles again as she ran headfirst into the battle force of Federation mobile suits, using her beam sabers to carve a massive path of destruction through the forces, GMs falling before her energy blade like trees against a typhoon. There were still many, many more that were falling to fill the gaps that she had created, the vacuous pores which were scattered with clouds of wrecked machinery, but as her Sinanju blazed across the battlefield, it mattered quite not.

In this case, the humble GM really was fodder. In the hands of an incompetent pilot, they were worse than tanks.

As the GMS fell a white gleam appeared in the vacum of space its pure white body showing a star contrast on the inky blackness of space. With careful aim of hte beam magnum in its hand the revealed unicorn let lose a single shot towards the sinanju stein.

The telltale violet and crimson flash of the beam magnum reached her eyes long before the impact, Kanoko deftly pouring the power on before darting out of the beam’s path. Turning to face her opponent, she grinned wolfishly, gripping onto the controls before shoving the throttles and pedals forward. “Is that you, Banagher?! How’re you gonna activate NTD-mode if I’m not a newtype?!”

Her own gleaming white suit burned through space, leaving its signature blazing trail as she approached the Unicorn Gundam, raising a beam tonfa again at its seemingly innocuous visage. “BRING IT ON!”

Catching the incoming beam tonfa with a beam saber the unicorn pushed the sinanju back before letting lose with the vulcans of on the unicorn gundam and once more with the beam magnum letting it lose towards teh stomach of the sinanju stein.

Utilizing the massive reaction speed of the suit, she jammed the thrusters sideways and managed-just barely-to avoid the blast of the beam magnum, the vulcan fire having caught her off guard as the Unicorn’s head flashed with fire from the muzzles. Gathering her wits, she pressed her attack, swapping out her bazooka for the grenade launcher as she whipped the beam rifle around. “So it’s gonna be like that, eh? Still can’t aim worth a shit, even in a sim! No wonder you let them all down, you couldn’t even be assed to learn how to fire your weapons properly!”

She let off a few rapid blasts from her high-powered beam rifle before following it up with a grenade, rushing towards the Unicorn with her shield up for a ram. The booster cowls flared and she roared forward, the Sinanju streaking towards the Unicorn like white lightning.

Reacting appropritly the unicorn quickly managed to dodge the beam fire and meeting the charge with its own its beam saber swung back as it charged towards the sinanju.

Tossing her rifle away, the grenades spent, Kanoko ejected the beam saber out from its tonfa holder, grabbing it before returning the charge in full force, colliding with the Unicorn Gundam in a clash of brilliant energy. Bolts of Minovsky lightning erupted around the pair of gleaming mobile suits, painting their armor in a dazzling rainbow of colors as the blades fought against one another for dominance. Shoving herself up against the activated Unicorn, its red visage filling her screen, she snarled with excitement, pressing the Sinanju Stein’s head in closer. “Look at you, with your fancy Newtype Destroyer! How’s it working out for you? You can’t control jack shit if the person isn’t using the Psycoframe! No space magic is going to save you here, Banagher Links, and I’m going to show you what the Sinanju can do in the hands of a real pilot!”

She stabbed the shield forward and unlocked her trump card: a mega beam cannon, much like the one used in the Armed Armors, the emitter charging dangerously. “You know how you tried to get me point blank with your beam magnum? Well, I hope you like the heat….”

The display pinged at her, telling Kanoko that the cannon was charged. “Because you ain’t getting out of THIS kitchen unscathed!” Pulling the trigger, she watched as her vision was filled with the light of a gigawatt laser searing through space, her smile maniacal as she began to sweep the shield in, intent on melting the Unicorn in half.

With little chance to react the unicorn took the hit unable to do much more the unicorn gundam shot once more removing the arm of the sinanju stein before the match ended. A final attempt before its death one could say.

Both suits were engulfed in a massive explosion from the force of both beams nearly colliding, the announcer calling “Battle Ended! Winner: Kanoko Tanegashi.” As she sighed heavily, her outfit slick with sweat, she looked at her damaged Sinanju, noting the damage level. The arm was shorn clean off, the joint melted and seared. Luckily she had replacements, and that was the most severe of its damage. On the other hand, the joints had been pulled and tugged at so incredibly hard that the Sinanju could barely stand on its own, its weapons scattered about, the armor pockmarked and streaked with charring from the intense beam battles. Part of the head was even blasted by slag from the Unicorn’s last beam magnum, giving it a magnificent similarity to the battle-damaged Sinanju ridden by the second coming of the Red comet.

“Set to A in the middle of battle...feh,” Kanoko fussed, picking up her gunpla and her GP base. Staring across the arena at the split Unicorn model and the remains of so many GMs, she chuckled a little, heading back towards the group. “Well, I think I passed. I was hoping to give you all just as good of a show! Seems like Banagher didn’t want to chat though.”
Kanoko's ears perked at the announcement and she picked up the case, a relatively simple one that she had made with plenty of padding and protection for her Gunpla whenever she needed to take some on the road. In this case, it was sectioned out for two suits and their accessories, with her backpack currently stuffed with some extra clothes and supplies. They did say this was going to be a longer stay at Nielsen Labs than any other Gunpla camp that she had been to previously.

Ruffling her carrot-colored hair, the well-built college student made her way to the auditorium, passing by those who had already enrolled or were simply touring; she couldn't believe her luck when she heard that she had been selected for the lab's entrance exam, but had spent several weeks pondering which suits to bring.

To that end, she had a mildly dressed-up Zephyranthes Full Vernier, and a Sinanju Stein she had painstakingly taken hours upon hours to refine. Per the rules, of course.

Stepping inside the auditorium, she found herself a little too thankful that it was almost empty save a few others. The idea of the exams still made her nervous. Making her way down towards the front, she spotted Sachi, waving at the blond-haired girl. "Hey. I suppose you're here for the Nielsen Labs exams, too? Mind if I take a seat?" Kanoko gestured to the seat beside the shorter girl, a friendly grin across her cheeks.
Name: Kanoko Tanegashi
Age: 17
Gender: F

Apperance: Kanoko is well built and fairly tall, standing at 5'9" and 160ish pounds. She has wider hips and what seems to be a rather large chest, but in reality her body packs a lot more strength than would first appear. Being a weight lifter and someone who does strength training three times a week, Kanoko's form is thick and solid, with even the loosest clothing providing a very difficult fit for her musculature. Highly unusual for someone who likes gunpla and manages to scratchbuild aspects of a kit, other features that stand out are her rounder, cheerier face and her pastel, carrot-colored hair. With vivid green eyes to provide sharp contrast, her face is what attracts the most attention as she's usually dressed in track or exercise wear, mainly due to her workout schedule. Most days she wears a red track jacket, any kind of T-shirt underneath but traditionally ones with interesting patterns, and a pair of spats which are cut just above the knee, colored gray with a black stripe down the side.

Nationality: Japanese

Favourite Gundam Series: Most of the UC continuity, especially Thunderbolt, 0083, and War in the Pocket, IBO, Gundam 00, with a new eye turning towards SEED suits as long as she can ignore most of the show.

Personality: Kanoko is very upbeat and outgoing, and is usually the life of a party. Almost always in a good mood, her attitude is simply bursting with energy, the girl being enthusiastic in almost all of her ventures no matter how tedious. She puts this to good use outside of her schooling and her workouts in the form of her passion for Gunpla, a highly unusual hobby for a girl of her temperament. However, the intense fights of gunpla tournaments resonate with her, and during battles she can be seen wholly throwing herself into the fray, her excitement flooding every attack and dodge to give her haphazard fighting style its own flavor. She's incredibly friendly, and isn't afraid to tell people off if need be, but she prefers to avoid conflict if she's able to.

History: One wouldn't think that Kanoko would be into Gunpla, but Gundam itself as a whole is one of her greatest interests. Being the daughter of an engineer, she was introduced to Gundam by her father through the Universal Century, where he took his own inspiration in order to become an engineer. In her early years she didn't build Gunpla, but was infatuated with the storyline, gobbling down every book, anime or movie she could possibly get her hands on about the Universal Century, until the series came to a head with: Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt. It was gritty, it was raw, the storyline was enthralling and the mobile suits themselves were detailed to a standard she had never seen before. The redesigns enraptured the weight training fitness girl more than anything else she had found, and the newest designs such as the Atlas or the Gundam Head GMs were fascinating to observe through the pages. Thus began her journey into Gunpla, using the energy and enthusiasm she put towards her athleticism into building gunpla and eventually submitting herself in tournaments.

Instead of the high beam rifle utilized by the prototype, it has the modular, high-powered rifle of the Sinanju used by Full Frontal in Unicorn, equipped with the grenade launcher and bazooka attachments which are mounted on the back skirt of the unit for easy access. The biggest difference is the return of the monoeye, in a blazing emerald with the head modded accordingly. Small things have been added, such as metal verniers and accents, but aside from that and meticulous cleanup, it seems relatively normal.
