Mekon's Zealot
DOB 472 RC║Mekon Movement║Lunite║Male
Physical Appearance
Scott stands at 5'11", with a lean build, a pale complexion and dark, well-kept hair. His neutral expression is usually a vague mix of calm and unhappy, and though he keeps his expression in check, his blue eyes are still an effective though imprecise indicator of his current emotional state. He can often be seen wearing attire commonly associated with space-borne freight workers; unmarked jumpsuits or dark colored sweaters over an undershirt or tanktop and work pants. Even with his preferance for long sleeves, his cybernetic arms are plainly identifiable by the bare metal coloration of his hands. Less noticable at a glance are his cybernetic legs, though they are still fairly noticeable with direct observation. Despite his rough lifestyle in the freight business, he holds himself in good posture, and tends to maintain his attention on his surroundings.

Biography:
Scott McEvedy was born 472 of the Revolutionary Calendar to his loving parents, Alan and Valerie McEvedy on Luna. He lived as every other Lunite child did, learning, amongst other things, about the habitats and what role they would have in them. As his father owned his own cargo ship, Scott would follow in his footsteps and move freight for Luna, while his friends would remain in the habs, farming crops, maintaining essential systems or running one of the many recycling plants.
Through his youth, he watched his friends slowly realize they didn't want the futures they'd been handed. Much of his time was spent keeping their spirits high by distracting them from the futures they had no control over, or by dragging his friends along on adventures across the lunar habitats. All good things come to an end eventually, and with the Rebirth of Piracy many of his older friends disappeared into space. With the habitats watched more closely by Zern, his adventures all but stopped, though he continued trying to make friends and raise people's hopes.
At the dawn of Scott's adulthood things only seemed to intensify. The Zern Empire was rocked by the near-assassination of it's Emperor, and it's military began hunting down pirates in earnest. A Zern princess began a program for inviting promising Lunite students to Martian universities. One of the younger children he knew even made it into the program, despite her more conspicuous cybernetics. At the time he truely believed it was for the best. A single after the Rebirth of Piracy ended his mother packed up and left, leaving a letter behind that she had obligations that could not be ignored. She told Scott and his father to stay strong, and that she loved them both dearly.
On 497 of the Revolutionary Calendar, midway through a routine cargo haul from Luna's agricultural habitats to Mars, Scott's father fell ill. Their ship's meager medical bay could only diagnose the issue; an agressive form of cancer. Scott and Alan both agreed their best bet would be to conclude the delivery to Mars and request emergency medical treatment. Neither expected to be turned away without another word. They had money to pay for treatment, they dutifully served the Empire by keeping everyone fed. All the same, they were denied the ability to land on Mars for treatment. Scott begged, and in return received a citation for remaining docked longer than allowed.
Scott would have to endure two and a half months of captaining hsi father's ship, not knowing what would happen. in the end, Alan McEvedy went too long without treatment, and died in a medical ward on Luna after treatment failed to contain the spread. No ammount of cybernetic implants or replacements could cure him. Only gene therapy would have worked, and Mars had condemned him to die without it. Scott's worldview as it was, fully broke down. No matter how hard he tried, Scott couldn't understand why the acted the way they did. With the perspective he had, he was forced to reevaluate everything he knew. All he could come up with was the Zern being possessed of such an intense greed that they would discard the lives of other human beings for their own gain.
His father had willed him the ship, the licenses, eveything. For days Scott could do little but silently stare out of the bridge of the ship he'd inherited. There he stewed in his thoughts until the confused jumble of emotions coalesced into pure unbridled hate for the Zern Empire. For the people that thought themselves so above others that they would hand down a death sentence for little more than a sneering disdain for what they had to do to survive. If they could condemn people for living they only way they could, the only way their own demands could be met...
For a time, he stuck to venusian shipments, even if they paid less. He couldn't trust himself around Zern just yet, he was too unfocused and angry. On his third trip to Venus alone, a man proclaiming the Zern Empire a pack of thieves and liars proferred anyone who so much as looked a him a cheaply printed paper book. Scott accepted one and for the first time held in his hands "The Great Wrongs and the Dreadful Rights". By the time he returned to Luna, he had read it twice.
It took Scott less time than he had expected to find directions to a pirate dock that wouldn't immediately shoot at him. He left with just his ship, it's COOL-Te loader, and a massive shipment of goods that had been intended for Mars. He bought his way onto the pirate station with Mars' stolen goods and then struck a deal with a group of pirates he was told he could trust by his contacts back on Luna. He sold his father's ship and had both himself and his COOL-Te modified. For himself, cybernetics, and for his COOL-Te enough to become a threat to more than just itself. He paid for passage to Venus and immediately began his new life by getting as deep under Zern's skin as he could.
Skills and Abilities
A Lifetime of Experience:
Scott has operated ships and Mobile Workers for the majority of his life, which has simplified his evolution into a pilot ready to fight the Zern empire. He can operate mid-sized and smaller ships without difficulty, and larger ships he will be quick to learn. As far as his skills surrounding Mobile-Suits, he has full mastery of movement and tool use, general knowledge of maintenance, and though his experience with weaponry is limited, he is still effective in combat.
Shock Resistant:
Thanks to his cybernetic enhancements, Scott is more durable than average. He can withstand and operate in higher G-forces than average, allowing him to push his Mobile Suit beyond what normal pilots can withstand while still being able to act beyond bracing against the strain. He is also less vulnerable to physical attacks in-person, his limbs being made of metal makes them harder to break or cut, though bullets are still just as dangerous to him as they are to others.
A Zealot's Passion:
Scott has taken to Mekon's teachings, and believes them with absolute conviction. His experiences and beliefs lend him insight into just want people want to hear, and he's more than willing to tell them exactly that. His conviction and loyalty is unshakeable, and he will do his absolute best to keep the Mekon Movement going strong.
Personal Items and Equipment
Personal Effects:
Scott keeps on himself a pair of mementos in whatever pockets he has, or stored in a secret compartment in one of his limbs. A family photo from when he was sixteen years of age, and an old pre-Empire Freight-captain pin.
Emergency cybernetic repair/tool kit:
A repair kit, stored in the right leg, containing emergency electrical tools, single-use solder applicators, a miniature roll of electrical tape and emergency battery cells for making on-the-spot repairs to his cybernetics or restoring basic functions should the damage be severe. The procedures needed to restore minimal function are printed with schematics and included in the kit.
9mm semi-automatic pistol:
A simple semi-automatic pistol, mass-produced with surprising quality for sale on the black-markets. Surprisingly of acceptable quality, due to the simplicity of design. Two spare magazines.
"The Great Wrongs and the Terrible Rights":
He wouldn't be much of a Zealot if he didn't keep his literature close at hand. A paperback cover on small print for easy concealment.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Scott is a man that believes completely in the truth of Mekon's teachings, enough to abandon a comfortable life to fight the Zern Empire as little more than a lone freedom-fighter. His aptitude for piloting alone makes him a legitimate threat on the battlefield, and guided by his convictions he has long since overcome any fear of combat. He is intelligent enough to recognize his shortcomings, and does his best to identify and support the person most qualified for leadership. Finally, with his near constant exposure to Mobile-Suit technology, he has an understanding of the underlying technologies strong enough to know when something is wrong with a Mobile Suit, but lacks the knowhow or training to perform actual repairs.
Scott's worldview has become fairly black and white, and those that become involved in the Zern-Mekon conflict without taking a side, will be assigned one. His villainization and hate of the Empire's culture has grown into the extreme, and still has room to grow. There is no escalation the Zern can resort to that Scott is unwilling to match. His willingness to commit to continual escalation can, and likely will make diplomacy difficult should he be involved. He is blinded by his zealotry, and may come to blows with individuals seeking compromise, even those siding with Mekon.
Chosen Mobile Weapon
COOL-Te Custom Refit "Faust"
2nd Generation Budget Mobile Worker
Customized Mass Production Mobile Worker|| Scott McEvedy
Unit Appearance
The Faust is, much like it's baseline, a skeletal Mobile Suit with rounded shoulders and hips. Deviations from the standard are obvious at a glance, starting with it's unorthodox paint scheme. The litan armor portions are primarily painted a nearly-black shade of blue. One candy-orange and one off-white stripe run down the front-right of it's torso. Each arm sports additional obviously non-standard equipment in the form of an arm-mounted thruster, and an assembly holding two illegal ammo magazines. Where a single thruster and storage box are supposed to be there is a refitted Tommy thruster-pack with a mount for handheld weapons.
Technical Details
Accommodation: Pilot only, standard 3-screen cockpit in torso
Dimensions: 16 Meters
Powerplant: Medium-output Wilberforce Reactor [ZIMS-02 Tommy Salvage]
Equipment and Design Features:
•Minimalistic Liten Chassis:
Just like the COOL-Te, the Faust has extremely thin Liten armor that shields its internal structures from the elements and little else. While it's baseline struggles with survivability due to it's lack of armor, this Mobile Suit makes use of the low mass to great effect.
•Overly Simple Design
Much like the Redcoat, the COOL-Te has a very simple design that makes it easy to repair, produce, and pilot. This COOL-Te has made use of it's simple design to fit several upgrades and modifications that drastically alter it's performance. As long as it is not outright destroyed, repairs should remain relatively cheap and simple.
•Twin Engine Backpack
Salvaged from several destroyed Zern Tommy Mobile Suits, this thruster pack was pieced back together and fitted to the Faust. With the same thrust output as a Tommy supporting a fraction of the weight, the Faust is able to greatly outpace standard configuration Mobile Suits in speed and thrust agility. Paired with the low mass of the COOL-Te, this pack grants the Faust limited flight in gravity conditions. the large size of the thruster pack has greatly reduced the cargo space normally available on the COOL-Te's back, greatly limiting the equipment it can carry.
•Single Engine Thruster: Left Arm Auxillary
The left arm of the Faust has been reinforced to support and utilize the refitted COOL-Te baseline's leftover thruster. With a new purpose in mind, the power control has been redesigned to support short, maximum-intensity firings, reducing the risk of over-use. Though the positioning is odd, the auxillary thruster is powerful enough to be used for enhanced mobility and close-combat effectiveness.
•Salvaged Reactor
Mounted with a reactor salvaged from a disabled Tommy, the Faust has power to spare while remaining far more stable and reliable than the baseline COOL-Te design. the Faust can push it's power draw to it's maximum without risking the reactor destabilizing and exploding. Because of the COOL-Te baseline being designed to support a smaller overclocked reactor, the power control subsystem required very little modification to support the new powerplant.
Weapons and Combat Capabilities
Handheld Armaments
70mm "Copperhead" Black-Market SMG
A bog-standard black-market Mobile Suit Submachinegun purchased from a pirate enclave. It's short barrel and bare-bones design keeps the weapon light, sturdy and cheap. Without much of the electronics present in military-grade MS weaponry, the recoil requires both of a Mobile Suit's hands to fire accurately, and it's stopping power can be quite lacking at range. Sporting a select-fire system, burst-fire can be used to fire one-handed without too great a loss in accuracy, and it's caliber is mass-produced by pirates everywhere, making resupply cheap and easy.
•Makeshift Grenades[x2]
A pair of makeshift MS-grenades made from stolen and repurposed mining explosives. Simple in design, once activated, they will detonate after a five second delay. Beyond being lightly magnetic, they are bare of additional features, and due to the close eye kept on explosives, replacements can be difficult to acquire on short notice.
Fixed Armaments
•Arm Mounted Tool Ring[MODIFIED]
A tool-ring normally found on COOL-Te base models, stripped of everything but it's Precision Sensor and VSL and modified to mount smaller-caliber magazines. Taking the form of a round cylindrical ‘gauntlet’ slipped over the COOL-Te’s right arm, the attachment holds:
- •a red-spectrum VSL for precise welding and cutting.
- •A precision sensor
- •Two separately mounted "Copperhead" magazines
- • One empty magazine slot to mount an emptied magazine after use.
Keeping the VSL and Precision Sensor, the modified tool-ring can still fire at distant targets, but is put to better use prcision-aiming actual weaponry and countering weapon recoil. Being mounted on the primary weapon arm also allows the Mobile Suit to more quickly reload smaller-caliber weapons.
•"Left Hook Special"
With the left arm's auxillary thruster and reinforced design, the next logical step was to weaponize it's destructive potential. The left hand has had several Litan spikes installed over the knuckles, with support lattices ensuring no damage to the hand through directional impact. When applied at full force, the Faust's "left hook" acts much like a small pile-bunker, and can cause significant damage to armor, assuming the correct striking angle and momentum are applied.
Strengths and Weaknesses
The Faust is a COOL-Te that has beeen modified to make use of all of it's features, and turns several weaknesses into strengths. Still being lightly armored, the Faust now boasts a thrust-to-mass ratio and maximum acceleration that outpaces standard military designs. In return for it's unmatched speed, the Faust remains just as fragile as a baseline COOL-Te, and it's restricted carrying capacity reduces it's ability to handle heavier weaponry without losing vital mobility, or carrying a reduced supply of ammunition.
Technical History
The Faust was, initially, just another COOL-Te, used to move cargo and make small repairs to it's ship. After exchanging hands, father to son, it saw only a few more uses moving cargo before it's role was changed and it was granted it's name. "Faust", a man that sold his soul for knowledge and power,
