I'm seeing a thug/street fighter/brawler in my mind...that would make us 3 warrior types. I'll lock that archetype off as full now if that is the way you are leaning character wise Phantom.
also I want to warn people...

I cannot edit the first OOC post due to too much data, we have progressed beyond Loudwater by now. However that does not stop your character from being from there if you wish. ITs one of the few large towns so it is a good starting point for a character. For a brief "history" of the story up to this point see the first post in the Character tab. :-) If I had been forward thinking enough I would have reserved half-a-dozen ooc posts at the beginning but alas...

If there is ever a question though just pop it up here and OrcPunx or I will do our best to answer in a timely manner.

EDIT: I will begin PMing folk today, and tag you here when its sent because I just know you are waiting on the edge of your seat. Just be sure not to fall off!!

@jollan--PM sent
@shadowefil--PM sent
@Jollan--the only thing I remember (and the reason I need it included because I have the memory of a gnat) was the weird knife that Serra had that you don't actually have but have seen; notable as it is unlike anything you have ever seen before and stone knives are not at all common in the civilized lands.

@bunnita--I have a few ideas of how to work you into the story. I'll PM you and we can go over which you want to use. Also you can choose a single high quality item of very sentimental value to you and worthless to anyone else to add to your inventory. This should be something you would never willingly part with and it is unique in some way. An example would be like the tooth Argurios wears around his neck or Aiden's diary he keeps for his sister.

@orcpunx--This is indeed the immortal RP. It actually originally started in the old guild before the fall, moved here, moved sections, and Jollan joined us from an entirely different forum I was running it on that died out completely. No one wants to give up...so even if it goes dormant for a bit we are all still here.
welcome Bun. I'll be honest we have no thief...street rats are always clever and useful. But see what you prefer. No rush...you can join whenever you are ready.

I'm hoping to bring the current characters and any newcomers together in a natural disaster, until that point it might be separate groups. If you come up with any ideas you really like send me a PM and we can figure out how to work it in.
OK with the Interest check up I hope we have a few new players to join us. I just put the link to this thread over there.

I need all of you guys to edit your character sheet so that "Clues" is a new topic and you list what clues you have so far gathered (physical, overheard, etc) and whether or not you have told anyone in the group about it. Yeah I know I need to do it too. It's just easier for me to track what I've handed out if I can easily see it apart from the bulk of your character. I will also be PMing you with new skills learned on the road based on your actions throughout the course of the adventure. Gear and equipment should remain pretty much the same as nothing has happened that has caused us to loose it except Aiden should no longer have a crossbow and Arugurios should have a bag of basic food stuffs he purchased/threatened his way into acquiring.

Chapter 2 begins this weekend. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Basket of Kittens?
@bunnita--characters will be meeting up with established characters on the road (river actually). New characters may be friends with one another, or solo, or escaped from their village, or any of a myriad of other options. I'm comfortable working with whatever someone prefers, the commonality will be that a) their home is no longer available to them b) everyone they cared about has vanished mysteriously or been killed and c) the dark god is in some way connected to this trouble. More about that is available in the first post of the OOC & the first post of the Characters tab (see link below) as well as through me who will happily look at the history/background of the character and see how we can weave it into the story.

@Liar--you are most welcome to come on over, read any pertinent info, and draft up a character. (see link below)

@everyone else--you are also welcome to come on over and see what we are up to, draft up a character, etc. (see link below)

OOC
First post in the OOC and first post in the Character tab have lots of good info on the story. If you wish to read the story in full I'm sorry...I began it in the Casual section and when I realized that was a bit too casual I moved to advanced. Thus the beginning of the story is lost in the ether somewhere. Questions, comments, help with Character sheets, double chocolate chip cookies, I'll be over there to help with any of that. I hope to see you there.

I shall answer as best I can...bear with me, it's long, but they are all valid questions I think everyone needs to know before joining an RP so I want to answer as best I can for the benefit of all.

Firstly the story is very well-developed and laid out...I have run this adventure several times in the past on other forum sites. The longest was a three-year role-play. While the story is generally the same outline, obviously the actions of the characters influence how the story progresses and what details take shape.

This particular iteration has been underway for 8 months minus The three-month vacation I have to take at the beginning of every year as I do taxes for a living. We are midway through the first leg of a three leg journey and are at an excellent point to bring in more characters. The story is a slow moving story, with a post expectancy of about one post per week. More is of course welcome But the current players all have real lives and sometimes it tries to swallow us whole.

The story is designed so that characters can easily be brought in or removed in a way that actually adds to the story. It is also designed so that incoming players, or returning players, do not feel like they've missed a lot of the story and can join with only a brief rundown of what's happened up to this point. You are, of course, welcome to read the whole thing if you wish.

While the story is already laid out, character development and the decisions the characters make are very important and I encourage you to develop your characters moral, spiritual, and mundane views as the adventure progresses.

I Will post a link to the OOC later tonight. It has character sheet guidelines, GMs rules, and other nifty stuff. The short answer to the question about skills and traits is that yes, it is limited and divided into class skills and life skills. In terms of a class system think of these as zero level characters, their class is basically what they want to be when they grow up. It may even changes you adventure...you might find a new role model or something you're really good at that you never even knew existed.

Any further questions I can answer?
Regular RP Bun. Just using the setting which is more than just for D&D. Don't even need knowledge of the setting...generic high-fantasy familiarity is enough. Id welcome you aboard. Provided you bring hot chocolate & cookies. ;-)
If you are looking for a grand adventure about saving damsels/lads in distress and blasting dragons out of the sky with mighty spells then look someplace else! If your looking for a story about struggle, overwhelming odds, the beginnings of a hero/heroine, and the choices between justice and vengeance then welcome to Rites of Passage

On the continent of Faerun, in the world of the Forgotten Realms, the Time of Troubles has just ended. The godly pantheons have stabilized, the divine beings are no longer forced to walk the earth as mortals, and their powers are once again being fueled by their worshipers on the mortal plane. Gods, both good and evil, seek to secure a place in the heavenly and abyssal hierarchies and for some the acquisition of devoted followers, through any means necessary, is the only way they will achieve the dominance and influence they crave. For though Faerun is enjoying a much needed time of peace, a sigh of relief after a terrifying time in history, the wars of the heavens and hells are eternal. And there are deities from beyond Faerun, deities that would grow in secret and stealth until they can challenge even the great gods.

Much of this is unknown to you however and what you have heard is so wildly twisted and varied in story that it is impossible to know what exactly happened. It doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of your world. Player Characters are children between the ages of 10-15. Most work hard all day long, either for their families or teachers to whom they have been apprenticed. Free time is rare and most of the day is devoted to work or study. They have all the problems and joys of a child of their age and station in life and while most are from laborer families a few might be street rats or from what constitutes and upper class in the small towns and villages living off the woods and rivers along the black road. Life is simple and usually very very busy. The needs of life and survival take precedence over imponderables and philosophy. Concerns over the squabbles of the gods rarely enter into day to day life, and while many might profess to be religious few have the dedication and devotion to have more than a basic grasp of Faerunian religion.

Few have lofty goals and for most children of the village it is assumed they will take after their parents or master. Their skills, their moral compass, and their personal and professional goals will be formed as they take on an adventure that will send them from rural village to bustling city to sea to jungle.

Alone now, with only the few friends they have possibly made and the few skills they learned in their rural life, the children now face a challenge far beyon the skill of their years. Strength, Wits, Cunning, Charm...all will be needed to reach their goal.

***

As chapter 1 closes and Chapter 2 of our story is beginning we welcome new characters to join the journey and discover for themselves whether they seek justice or vengeance. A knowledge of the Realms is not required.
