[ Human | Astopolian ]
A woman of tall stature, her piercing, clear eyes hide beneath them a soft-hearted soul. As an Astopolian citizen coming from a place of aristocracy and wealth, her appearance is naturally clean and pristine. Donning regal colors of red, blue and gold, she appears as if a powerful individual, despite being the mere leftovers of a would-be war hero. Ambroise carries herself with dignity and a sense of importance; if only as practice for the day she truly deserves it. Despite her tendency towards magic, Ambroise possesses a strikingly powerful build for such a character, following in the ways of her father.
"The most terrifying mage is one who, once devoid of defenses and allies, duels the threat with nary a twitch of fear or a drop of sweat."Personality:Last remainder of her late siblings after the War, Ambroise's sole purpose is to ensure the continuation of her family's notoriety and honor. Though she is kind almost to a fault, she follows guidelines without question; though the death of an 'innocent' Talze Uteran by her hands tears at her soul, she ultimately follows through. While her peers can see this conflict clearly in her expressions they too, ultimately, understand her devotion to a cause.
Underneath her warm exterior lies a hardened spirit that pushes through most any conflicts. She is not one to ask for help when it comes to emotions or troubles, preferring rather to 'bottle them up' or simply push past them. She does not buckle under pressure, nor give up when exhausted. Of course, she is not invincible, and so she often harms herself in the process, either by forgoing sleep or pause.
In essence, she is a woman who, despite having clear wishes and desires, chooses to follow tradition and work for others rather than herself.
Biography:- Ambroise is born 13 years before the War begins. Youngest of 6, her father decides to be her future tutor.
- As the War begins and Astopol becomes involved, her elder siblings are sent into battle. Too young, she remains home.
- As her siblings begin perishing to the Jeulian Empire's might, her mother and father prepare for the worst, turning Ambroise's life towards that of a marriage tool. Her training in magic ceases temporarily.
- As her last sibling falls to a Rift Beast, Ambroise's parents realize they need a doubly-important child; one who can carry on their warrior legacy, and the bloodline itself. The household becomes strict and her training two-fold.
- The War concludes, and Ambroise is forced to find other means to further train herself in the field.
Abilities:Ambroise Formaza's focus is on that of 'Grand Casting'; the use of time and channeling to produce spell effects not merely
destructive in nature, but absolutely
devastating. Though the presence of her Talentium sword offers her considerably faster casts, considering her natural spell casting speed is already exceptional, the use of channeled magic nevertheless means the spells take some time to cast and are that much more powerful.
It is for this reason, however, that even her basic quick spells are of particularly notable potency. A spell that normally takes longer for even a Talentium-user to cast for its power is a 'normal' spell for Ambroise, flung in the mere blink of an eye. Still, she prefers to deal in absolutes. The 'absolute' here being that the enemy will
absolutely die.
With a long-channel spell, Ambroise can unleash a level of destruction within a confined, almost pressurized area with incredible effect. The spells are not merely limited to destruction, however, as Ambroise can also unleash defensive casts of similar strength. In the same vein, Ambroise is exceptional at creating defensive
fields whilst she channels her spells, affording her a level of protection that aids in delaying attacks from any enemy.
Though she focuses upon magecraft of the artillery-esque nature, Ambroise is hardly a pushover when it comes to swordplay.
Knight's Court Judgement || Ambroise's main offensive spell, channeled up to thirty seconds. The massive light-element bolt deals exceptional damage to any target stricken. Ambroise can force the spell to imbue its energy into the target rather than as an area blast, confining the destruction to the affected object or person rather than the environment.
Request of Angels || Usable (effectively) only where the sky is visible, this spell summons upon the field a flurry of arcane bolts from on high. Able to be made more random in targeting, Ambroise can saturate an area with the effect to counter more nimble opponents. The effect, whilst far less powerful than Knight's Court Judgement, can be maintained so long as Ambroise is channeling.
Steel Skies Breath || An enchanting spell, Ambroise can channel light elemental energy into either her, or another's blade. The length of the channel determines the potency contained within the blade, which is diminished as the enchanted weapon strikes material objects.
Timeless Heavens || An area slowing spell. By channeling this spell, Ambroise can encapsulate a large area in a slowing field, maintained so long as she channels. Should the field be removed before any occupants come to a halt, their original speed is returned to normal, along with any momentum they possessed. If used in an area that also includes herself, she is affected as well. This is a defensive spell that Ambroise cannot maintain while using other spells; full attention and focus is required to use it.
Hallowed Courts || An environmental enchantment spell, Hallowed Courts creates an area around Ambroise that seeks to deflect incoming attacks or attack invaders. Ranged attacks are stricken out of midair by ethereal swords, while enemies within the area are assailed by a flurry of nigh-invisible slashes and thrusts. Though it requires a light channeling, Ambroise can maintain this spell whilst activating others, albeit with the latter being necessarily slower.
Souls of the Fortress || A barrier spell that creates multiple layers with a longer channel. Barriers that experience overwhelming force will 'retreat' into those barriers behind it, bolstering the next layer to be more durable than the last. These barriers will remain standing even after the channel has finished.
Important Items:Ambroise's talentium longsword, "
Remembrance", named so in honor of her siblings.
She also carries with her a stitched cloth containing the names of her five brothers and sisters, worn as a mark at her waist.
