Hello, I am me from the internet. I migrated here from Kongregate's Forum Games Forum, so feel free to look for me there if you wish to follow a career in internet stalking people. (ಠ_ಠ) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
“I really don’t follow how your faith believes its perfectly acceptable to doom 4,000 years plus of sentient beings, on a pre-set path of no escape from sin, just so their descendants can be offered the ‘chance of salvation’ when the god murders its own son.” ~vikaTae

► FULL NAME || Over the course of several thousand years of cultural cross-polination and linguistic drift, names are gonna be pretty funky. Our main inspirations for names and languages when making things were Greek, Turkic, Armenian, and Slavic - so consider these as a baseline for generating a name. ► CALLSIGN || It's bad cred to give yourself a callsign. If you have one, let the other players determine what it is. ► PRONOUNS || You know what these are. She/her, he/him, they/them, etc. ► AGE || This one might be tricky for the lore. Given how a lot of people are vat-born - clones made through genetic modulation - in this day and age, someone may have an annual age that may be different from their biological age. For example, being born into warrior castes of certain clans may be "born" as a late teenager or as a young adult, and from the moment of their birth are thrust into training regimens. Particularly desperate worker societies may also birth one as a full adult, so as to fill a constant demand for new forge and manufactory labourers. However, most of the highest and lowest echelons of society remain to have most children have a regular childhood growth cycle. ► HEIGHT || Self-evident. ► WEIGHT || Self-evident. ══════════════════════════════

Kaoru's entrance into the auditorium was relatively quiet, rather secluded one might say. He didn't see a reason to interact with the other students right now. Why should he, when they ranged from the lunatic jumping off of buildings, to fish people who'd probably never worked a day in their life to make their Quirks work for them? Not to mention the quiet ones. Of course, he'd have to speak to most of them at some point, but for now, he was entirely content in his factual superiority over them.
He was. Frankly, whilst he stood out as pretty tall compared to most of the others, what really set him apart was how much work he'd put in to get here. Maybe if he'd gotten into UA, there'd be matches for his prowess... but whatever. Ishin was still the number two Hero Academy in Japan. He knew he'd succeed here. Get his license. And then show the world his ability - and maybe teach a few youngsters how to get to where he stood in a decade or two. Well, he'd be a bit above that by then, but it was a good start for those kids.
These ones, on the other hand, well... he supposed it was never too late for people to learn from their betters, though how much potential his teachings could extract from them might be limited now. Heck, he had more to learn too. That was why he was here: how could he become a high-ranking Hero if he didn't constantly improve himself, too? Self-improvement had made him a student; further self-improvement would make him a Hero. Maybe even the #1 Hero in all of Japan, if he was good enough. Heh... that'd be great.
Full Name - Iekami Kaoru (家神薫) Hometown - Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan Quirk Type - Emitter Gender - Masc -
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Domineering Kaoru has this idea that the world rewards hard work and ability. He rather believes, then, that having put a huge amount of effort into developing his Quirk naturally makes him the best and most deserving person in the room to succeed! But, of course, he's also "magnanimous", and sees it as his right, nay his duty, to pursue the betterment of his fellows, such that they too can one day stand where he is, look back at their past, then point and laugh at how foolish they were.
Reserved Partly thanks to how he has had to prosecute his arrogant nature, partly due to his parents' attitude, and partly from simply having a seemingly unimpressive Quirk for most of his life, Kaoru tends toward not making a big scene if he can help it. Generally, he'll be cool-headed and approach situations logically, but even when his emotions are up, it takes a lot to get him to express those emotions in a major way - an ironic contrast to how he sees himself as better. He might phrase it as humility, despite the distinct lack thereof.
Lateral Thinker In terms of STEM-type smarts, Kaoru is fairly modest by IA's standards - good enough to get in, but not necessarily to stand out. On the other hand, his ability to think outside the box has been honed by years of association with certain individuals, and by a personal demand to render his Quirk into something practical for hero work. Consequently, he can quickly figure out ways to approach even high-stress situations, even though a solution might not be obvious to most.
Physical Description
For his age, Kaoru is fairly tall. At 174 cm, he sticks out as looking almost like an older student, matched by a shock of pale blue hair grown out into luscious locks below his shoulders, and a fairly lean and well-built figure. Contrariwise, his casual outfits tend to be nondescript - simple dark tees and trousers, albeit accented with a bomber jacket in colder climates. Lastly, his eyes have a habit of flipping between purple and amber seemingly based on his body temperature, with lower temperatures leading to yellower eyes; this is purely a holdover from an ancestor's Quirk, with no effect on his current Quirk so far as he can tell.
Personal History
A great deal of Kaoru's life has been spent training.
This was not necessarily intentional, mind you. As most children do, he idolised the Pro Heroes of the world, making a certain number of friends based on mutual appreciation of heroes like Big Booster and Hawks. Naturally, when at last Kaoru's own bubble-making Quirk arose (a holdover of his father's air-blowing Quirk and his mother's skin film Quirk), he was delighted! Not so much, however, as he quickly realised that aside from maybe getting soap in somebody's eyes, it was kind of useless for actually being a hero.
Thus began an extremely unusual way of thinking for a child his age. A hyperfocus on what he could do, and what he could do to make it be more useful. To that end, he asked his mother Karin if he could take up martial arts! Surely that'd let him pull it off, and maybe even become a Pro Hero!
"Oh... I'm sorry, honey, but I don't think your Quirk will be very good for being a hero..."
Not that that stopped him from trying his five year old heart out. More friends were made at his new jujutsu and aikido classes, and after a special request was made, he also received extra training from a private tutor in karate, who went even further as to teach him more about his Quirk through internalising the lessons of kokoro, rei, and aiki - contextually attitude, courtesy, and will, and more specifically the will to combine one's energy with an opponent's not to ensure a mutual kill, but to overcome and redirect their energy to guarantee victory without injury.
Each victory in this respect was subtly denigrated. An effort to keep him humble - but in practice, moulding him unerringly toward the way of will rather than truly benefiting from a positive attitude. He started to grow snide, proceeding in his education moreso for his physical betterment than anything else. He began driving away his friends as he started to put himself above them. In private, he even made the claim to his mother that he'd be a Pro Hero with or without a Quirk!
"That's quite enough, dear! You need to stop pressing toward this nonsense; how do you expect to save people with your power when you can't even keep yourself safe with it?"
Again she put him down by trying to keep his ideals realistic. And as for his father, Kuuya?
"Son, sometimes there are things people just can't do- and that's okay. You can't judge a turtle for not leaping up a waterfall and turning into a dragon, after all."
To hell with his defeatist parents, then! If he had to leap up a waterfall and become a dragon to become a hero, he'd damn well do it! But that necessitated being able to make that leap to begin with - and they were right: bubbles alone did not a Hero make.
Another bout of highly unusual behaviour spawned from this. To solve a seemingly-intractable problem, he had to think around the problem's individual components. He could make bubbles. They had air in them, of course, but that seemed kind of incidental. So what about the bubble itself, the "film" part of the Quirk? How could he weaponise that? What could he do to make what was basically just soap into a weapon?
Eventually, at the age of eleven, that notion clicked in his mind. It wasn't just soap - it was soaps.
Once that realisation had come, developing his powers became a hell of a lot easier. He had something to work with; soaps to research, ways to produce soap that wasn't bubbles, and eventually the production of other fluids to clean with: shampoo! Lye! Bleach!
"Oh my God! Kaoru, what happened to your hands?!"
As it turns out, both lye and bleach are rather corrosive substances, and his first try at making them demanded rather serious medical attention to keep the skin of his hands from completely dissolving. Best to avoid them unless he couldn't help it, then.
All this time, he'd been steadily degrading in other areas. By the time he got out of hospital after that incident, he'd grown to realise his last "friend" really didn't see fit to associate with him anymore, and whilst he'd attained black belts in his martial arts, the group teachers eventually saw fit to bar him from further education, on the basis that he was upsetting his fellows and, in the end, didn't really understand what they were teaching him. Then bah; they could rot for all he cared. He'd spent all this time making his Quirk into something he could use, ensuring his martial arts and physique were finely tuned, then so what if they didn't want the same for him or themselves? He'd join an academy, show off his skills, and then he'd meet people who agreed with the way he saw things, and perhaps even educate some of them on what they needed to do to become as great as him. It'd be tough, sure, but if he could turn bubbles into a useful ability, what couldn't he do?
Character Arc
Kaoru's character development will likely be similar to that of Mirio's from canon - or rather, his power development will likely follow a similar pattern. Initially, his Quirk was ineffective in a fight, and whilst he has made progress toward its improvement, it still has a very long way to go to reach its maximum potential. Furthermore, Kaoru himself is rather the embodiment of an arrogant kung fu guy: whilst not trained in kung fu, he has received education in various other Japanese martial arts, and he's very well aware of how far he's come from when he first started, all hidden by a veneer of civility that may make it hard to see the smugness beneath it. Most likely, he'll wind up receiving lessons on notions such as "being kind to one's peers instead of nice", "not thinking oneself the most capable person around even in areas one has no experience in", and "no, you cannot beat anybody and everybody with skill alone, there genuinely are people who are better than you in every way, and by a wide margin at that". Though depending on how the plot progresses, these lessons may take some time to internalise... to that end, genuine friendships not based on his being subtly pushy about how they act and how they use their Quirk will probably help him a great deal.
Quirk Description
Once upon a time, Kaoru's Quirk might have been easily mistaken as merely the generation of bubbles. But with time, practice, and a great deal of consideration, Super Soaper proves to be far more effective than just this: its nature is the generation out of his skin of soaps, shampoos, and other such cleaning products, a disproportionately-broad spectrum of substances with the general properties of being slippery and germ-washing-away assisted largely by a strong knowledge of the associated materials and chemicals present. In practice, the actual versatility comes with how he uses it: one of the most obvious uses is to cover an opponent in soap and reduce their friction, making it much harder for them to move around. He is not nearly so hindered by this issue thanks to a great deal of practice, allowing him to slide around on his own soap trail with immense speed compared to the average person. Additionally, one would be surprised how hard it is to concentrate or, well, see clearly with soap in one's eyes, not to mention the effects it can have on sensitive equipment such as firearms or electronics. At its most extreme, he can even produce rather more dangerous substances to inflict direct damage - lye or bleach come to mind, though as he lacks direct resistance to their effects, even producing them could cause him just as much harm as his target. More subtly, he could also damage his skin or hair follicles over time by producing too much of the wrong type of soap or shampoo; to wit, the stuff he uses to wash his hair every morning is a particular formulation designed to avoid precisely this. Whilst lack of specific resistance is merely a limitation, his true weakness comes with the fact that all of his substances work best at a rather specific moisture level: if it is too dry, say due to an extreme rise or fall of temperature, his soap will film up and stop being slippery or pop any bubbles he makes before they can perform their function properly; and whilst some additional wetness could make the soap even more slippery, too much extra liquidity will dilute it beyond usefulness, if it isn't simply washed away outright.
Good to know RE psyoniks. Also, ELMA + Cytokine + Psy Overclocker = Carnage, I assume. I will ask again, however: I assume we can't have any stats at or below 0, and/or that those represent Bad Times if those wind up that way?
I might lean hard into the psykic side of things. Make a psyonik who's got all the most psykic stuff. Because they're psykic. Only problem there that I'm noticing is some pretty serious reliability issues if I try to go down that route... anything I can do to balance the two points out? (Also, to wit, I assume having a stat at or below 0 is mechanically inviable and/or in-universe Bad.)
Heh. Of course they had just arrived. Fate had a funny way of working out like that, didn't it? And likewise the words, muffled as they were, of the panicked individual talking about invading pirates... no. A pirate, who moved and fought like a ghost.
Another grin as he lowered his crude mask again. Speak of the Devil, right? He moved around to the front of the tavern, thankfully not having to deal with the meathead's insinuation of piracy by virtue of the fact he was outside already, and pulled out a banana he'd saved, peeling it and, with a slight chuckle, dropping the skin in front of the tavern door for whoever might stumble over it. Of course, if it turned into a fight inside... he was strong enough to lift the whole building out of its foundations if need be, given the proper grip. For now, he'd settle with an easy prank.

【Additional Appearance Info: Gary is a normal human being just like you and me. At least he was, but that's not changed much now that he's a soul: at around 175 cm tall and 75 kg in weight, he is not physically abnormal per se, though his fully-shaved head and maroon, almost red eyes (including the one tattooed on his forehead) do lead him to stand out from a crowd. Similarly, his dark red robes are far from the typical gear of a shinigami, but its management, as well as his uniquely-capable Kido abilities, ensure it doesn't get in the way. His Zanpakuto is generally sheathed within a haraegushi of reasonable length, much akin to that he wielded as a Fullbringer - though, beyond symbolism and Gairi needing it for neither blessings nor as a cane, the item merely serves to hide the weapon inside nowadays.
【Biography:
Gairi's life, for the most part, was informed by two factors: his mother, a shrine-maiden, surviving a Hollow attack whilst pregnant with him; and genetic problems, possibly also triggered by the Hollow attack, that would manifest later on. Of these, the more prominent to him early on was the former, which rendered him a Fullbringer in life. More specifically, this power manifested at a fairly early age, for like many children, he had a bit of an obsession with magic, whether inherent or granted by the kami; consequently, he found himself manifesting his Fullbring for the first time at age nine whilst playing with a wooden staff nominally meant for blessings. This, of course, was during the latter stages of World War Two. Whilst the nuclear bombings at the end of the war were, of course, devastating to the psyche of the nation, what is not commonly described is the far more extreme impact of firebombings across the nation prior to that. It was these that led Gairi's initial use of his power in defense of those he cared for: an incantation of power, almost a subconscious method of manifesting his Fullbring, kept his neighbourhood safe from the flames of napalm bombs when all around the region had been burned to cinders; and later, it helped to protect them from the Hollows that spawned as a result of lost souls who could not possibly be assisted in moving on from such ravaging deaths by the Shinigami of the time- not when so many others needed the help too. More devastating still was the loss of his father to the War, something he could not possibly avert, for he was but a boy, and the troubles of the world and its political machinations far greater than a child could hope to deal with. By the time he was eighteen, Gairi had grown bitter and even spiteful - despite what he perceived as great strength, his family was impoverished by the war, and he remained traumatised by his experiences, developing into rather the delinquent. Using his power for personal benefit, he targeted a local bōryokudan under the header of the newly-formed Inagawa-gami, quickly becoming its leader under the new name "Seifuku-sha" and transforming it into a sort of yōkai-worshipping cult behind the front of gambling houses and real estate coercion, complete with mass spiritual awareness training, albeit only successfully taken up by a few members. Naturally, higher-ups in the organisation came down hard on them, but between his genuine skill in the role and the fact that enforcers sent to deal with Gairi or the gang inexplicably vanished or were found dead one way or another, he was eventually incorporated in full, taking on a role of shateigashira, and eventually of wakagashira to the region's gangs in full, though funnily enough he never took on full-body tattoos like most members, merely a few smaller images of regional yōkai and his eponymous third eye, an image replicated down into the groups he was in charge of. Between his activities within the Inagawa-gumi, he did have much time to reflect upon himself and his actions, growing increasingly concerned within himself. Eventually, he found himself back in contact with his mother, now an elderly woman, who lamented that he'd gone down such a dark path when he had such bright prospects as a boy. Shaken, and frankly scared by the idea that he had let himself grow so tainted, he promised her right then and there to right the wrongs he'd committed - starting with the severing of ties from the Inagawa-gumi, taking those who would follow him into hiding elsewhere in the country, and setting them all down a new path of sorts. They were still a gang to some extent, but in addition to Gairi taking it upon himself to locate Pluses and directing Shinigami to them where possible, as well as dealing with Hollows threatening people's livelihoods, their goals turned to helping those who needed it most over personal profit, empowering the weak and doing what they could to benefit as many as possible, in one particularly proud instance acquiring an apartment building and arranging for it to become freely-available housing to those who found themselves in need, no rent required. Yet this was not Gairi's greatest personal achievement. That would be twofold: his success in becoming a priest of his city's largest shinto shrine, after much study toward the goal, and the birth of his daughter. He had, in time, grown fond of reminiscing about his upbringing, and had in the course of study come across a woman by the name of Watanabe Ichika. Despite his past, she found him endearing, and in turn helped Gairi to soothe his soul and grow as a person. He was married at the age of 37, and became father to Watanabe Yua by the time he was 38. Fate would play a cruel trick on him at this stage, as unforeseen genetic predisposition caught up with him: he found himself stricken by sudden loss of vision and extreme difficulty controlling his bladder for a good week and a half, and was not long after diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. His remaining life expectancy was cut in half by this illness, and as the years passed, he grew increasingly physically weak and disabled despite his Fullbring abilities, eventually forced to step down from group leadership as a result, though he maintained his calmer disposition despite difficulties controlling his mood. His role as a priest was maintained as long as physically possible, and he garnered quite a bit of positive karma in the process; but in the end, the battle with his biology was lost. On October 31st, 1987, he passed from complications relating to the illness, asking only that Yua (herself a spiritually aware person) seek out a Shinigami to help him pass on if need be, and assuring his family that he'd see them again soon enough.
Knowledge that there is a specific afterlife does help one to transition into it more effectively, it turns out. Gairi awoke in Soul Society, directed to the 32nd Eastern District - a middle class region, in essence, and close enough to Soul Society's center that knowledge of Kido was not uncommon, although the actual research demanded a decent amount of time and effort. Humorously, at least to him, his former method of Fullbringing turned out to be extremely similar to the incantation of Kido; before he even joined up with the Shinigami, he was casting rudimentary spells based on what knowledge he could extract, mostly as a means of practicing with and enhancing what he'd come to learn was referred to as Reiryoku and Reiatsu, but equally to acquire funds to head inward toward Seireitei for the sake of learning more. Despite this, his physical abilities never really improved - they were at least comparable to most laymen, but on the whole flimsy. Still, he had plenty of time, and a reasonable source of funding. Within two decades, he was able to afford the costly transportation inward toward the 18th District, and then again into the 7th District after another five years. Here, he had the good fortune to encounter a former shatei of his, Ito Masaru, who had died a while after Gairi before arising in Soul Society, close enough to the North Gate to very swiftly apply to become a Shinigami, passing not so long before meeting Gairi himself. With Masaru's help, Gairi was brought to Seireitei for the entrance exam; with his Reiatsu on display, he passed with flying colours, entering the second class for his training to enter the military corps of Soul Society. Long story short, whilst he remained physically inept, albeit gaining the bare minimum of skill to pass the pertinent classes on Zanjutsu, Hakuda, and Hoho, his capacity for Kido was unrivalled by any of his peers, all the moreso when it became apparent his talent extended into Kaido as well as Hado, as well as intense theoretical knowledge of Bakudo- and with the rate at which he devoured knowledge about the matter, he made a case to be moved into the first class for Kido training specifically. And then even further beyond that: when even these classes proved insufficient to sate his capability, he was examined on the matter, and eventually given special dispensation to run Kido classes as a student teacher in exchange for more or less a free ride on his physicals, ensuring he could actually continue to learn from them to at least some extent. This was the scenario in which 12th Division Captain Fuanteina Azami found him. Whilst the Captain was apopleptic at first, Gairi's genuine skill at least caught Azami's eye. After a demonstration of his Hado, and a lot of ranting about his irritating lack of generalisation received with equally-irritating grace, Azami spoke with the Academy heads, and gave Gairi a private challenge of sorts: he'd bring the man into the Kido Corps and the 12th Division as soon as he graduated, but he'd not advance an inch into the Officer ranks without at least halfway decent swordsmanship. This seemed fair to Gairi, and so he accepted the task before him. His graduation came about not too long after this, and he has remained firmly entrenched in position since. It's only been four years, after all; he has plenty of time to learn more about Kido before he needs to approach the matter of the sword, including research into what he believes may be something no others have approached as of yet. Or so it seemed not too long ago. If fate has anything to say about it, his Zanjutsu may need refining sooner rather than later.
【Personality: In life, Gairi shifted gradually from excited, to jaded, to reasonably content. In the Soul Society, this has remained fairly consistent; if anything, he is intensely amiable, and rarely bothered by most things. This makes him rather approachable, with a sort of charisma that come with being about as normal as one can be. That said, he has had trauma in his past; though that painful fire is quenched, the embers of his experiences as a teenager and his younger adulthood linger, occasionally flaring up when he is truly pushed to extremes.

NAME: 12th Division Captain Fuanteina Azami
Captain Fuanteina first encountered Gairi working as a student teacher in the mid-2010s. His outrage at a student teaching was balanced out by his interest in Gairi's legitimate skill in Kidō, and after a demonstration of Gairi's abilities, the Captain made a point of bringing him into Division 12 via the Kidō Corps, albeit with no prospects for advancement without physical training. The Captain checks in on Gairi every so often, tending to berate Gairi for not working on his swordsmanship or what have you as much as he should be, and then getting even more annoyed when Gairi takes his aggression with complete placidity. For Gairi's part, he finds the Captain hard to like, but at least believes his annoyance comes from a place of genuine desire to see his subordinates improve.
NAME: 12th Division Lieutenant Uōrokku Majime
Compared to the Captain, Lieutenant Uōrokku is a practically genial fellow, and since meeting him for the first time around three or four years ago, shortly after joining the 12th Division officially, Gairi has found it very easy to get comfortable in his presence, talking for great stretches of time about their respective insights into Kidō and their philosophies on the world at large. He can respect the need for alone time on Majime's part, too - something he's very familiar with.
NAME: 5th Division 20th Seat Officer Ito Masaru
Gairi met Ito Masaru when he first took over the gang he'd later lead out of the Inagawa-gumi. At first holding serious contention toward the new leader, Masaru only grew closer to Gairi upon realising the financial success they had under him, and the power at his fingertips that came with learning about the spiritual energy inherent to the world, although in life he never gained quite as much ability as Gairi himself. Upon death, he was assigned to the 2nd Northern District, and not long after took the Shin'ō Academy's entrance exam, graduating not too long before crossing paths with Gairi again. His view of his former kyodai is complicated, given how their roles have seemingly inverted between life and death despite Gairi's ongoing spiritual superiority, but he nonetheless values Gairi greatly, and likewise Gairi finds solace in touching base with one of the few direct connections to his past life, somebody he can genuinely be open with.

【General Aptitude】
Fighting Style:
Gairi is the very model of the archetypal "Squishy Wizard". Thanks in part to his background and life experiences, he has serious issues with moving much faster or applying more force than a typical soul, despite a Reiatsu that is immense and well-controlled for his degree of ability. By contrast, he has learned to react to situations far faster than most low-level Shinigami, which plays neatly into his primary combat methodology: the casting of Kidō, at a level that is abnormally potent and capable even by the standards of high-ranking Officers, let alone Soul Society en masse. Granted, his acceptance into the Gotei 13 at all has demanded he engage in some physical training, and it has been made clear that he will not rank up beyond this point if he cannot apply his body in a fight too; however, between extraordinarily powerful Hado, Kaido great enough to essentially regenerate from harm as it's dealt to him even in the case of massive damage, and the mental capacity to respond to faster opponents despite his lacking agility, even so much as reaching him is an unnervingly tricky feat.
Unlike the other classes of Kido, Kaido requires a particular degree of aptitude to utilize at all. This Specialty allows the user access to Restorative Spells, allowing them to heal themselves and others. Individuals with this Specialty can heal themselves at their Proficiency tier, and heal others at one level below such. At Expert, this specialty allows the complete restoration of minor wounds--lacerations, bruises, minor fractures, etc. Notably, at Expert, a specialist can heal more serious injuries but never completely, resulting in lasting complications that cannot be corrected. However, due to the individual’s lack of general experience, they are only capable of healing themselves at their full capacity whereas they can heal the superficial wounds of others as well as stabilize them. At Adept tier, this specialty allows the restoration of major wounds, including broken bones, major fractures, and even the partial loss or destruction of some organs. At Grandmaster, a Kaido practitioner can even regenerate organs and limbs wholesale. Beyond the threshold of Grandmaster, even long-standing injuries can be mended, reducing or removing complications entirely.
Notably, those who do not possess this Specialty only choose a Primary and cannot use any other class of kido. Otherwise, those possessing this specialty must choose either Hado or Bakudo as their Primary and Secondary, respectively. The Primary discipline gains the full allotment of spells for their rank, whereas the secondary gains the allotment for one tier below their Proficiency. Individuals exceeding the Grandmaster Proficiency Tier can utilize their secondary at the same rank as their primary. Individuals below Grandmaster cannot utilize Forbidden Kidō. Once someone with this Specialty reaches Legend, they gain access to a tertiary class of Kido, allowing them to use all three classes though their tertiary class will not give them access to Forbidden spells of that category. At Myth, they can use all kido of any class.
Calculating (Perception Expert)
Your perception gives you an edge in combat, allowing you not just to follow the movement of things much faster than you but also to predict things more accurately than the average individual and act–or react–accordingly. Functionally, this allows the individual in question to treat half of their Proficiency in Perception as Proficiency in Hoho, but purely when reacting or attempting to predict and capitalize on someone’s future positioning. Notably, the Proficiency Tier is rounded down to the nearest number.
Kido Ritualist (Kido Grandmaster)
Taking a unique route toward the use of Kido as a tool, Gairi has come to the conclusion that, whilst potent in itself and naturally specialised toward immediate and relatively short-term effects, setting up specific rituals with particular, nearly-symbolic casting procedures can lead to far more potent effects with outcomes lasting for a very long time indeed. At its most basic, this allows Gairi to "pre-cast" Kido in a specified location, leaving inobvious Kido runes symbolising the spell cast in their place until a certain trigger (usually involving a certain individual or group) is activated, at which point the spell is cast automatically, or until they are dismissed by Gairi or run out of energy to maintain themselves. However, it also grants the option of developing specific rituals in the form of Artes, which can be cast over a given timeframe for grand, long-lasting effects, assuming all prerequisites and conditions are met.
【Artes】
Seichi no Gishiki (Rite of Hallowed Ground, kanji: 聖地の儀式, lit. "Ritual of the Holy Land")(Kido Ritualist)
The results of this rite are quite sensible indeed, for a Shinigami with a desire to make both their own job and the lives of others easier. Simply put, utilising a simple white mask that is destroyed as part of the hour-long rite, an area around the casting site with a radius of one li is rendered uninhabitable to Hollows, essentially counteracting their energy by rendering the Reishi of the affected region a natural antibody. Weaker Hollows caught in the affected area initially will be drained of Reiryoku quickly, making them far less dangerous and eventually purifying them automatically, whilst Hollows outside the region will find it difficult to impossible to intrude, suffering the same effects even if they succeed at breaking in; even much stronger Hollows such as Menos Grandes will be weakened somewhat, dependent on the comparison of their energy and skill compared to the caster. Furthermore, Pluses in the area will not have their Chain of Fate decay whilst they remain within it, and it will be significantly easier for the deceased to pass on without becoming a ghost in the first place.
This causes a Spirit clash against Hollows within the affected area when it is created, as well as those trying to break out of or into the area, whose effects differ depending on whether their Spirit milestone tier is greater, lesser, or the same as the caster's.
If the Spirit clash is roughly a tie (same milestone tier), then the Hollow will find it difficult to pass through the outer boundary of the affected area in any way, including through spatial rifts and teleportation. Additionally, if they are within the area, their Spirit will be debuffed by a tier for the purpose of handling mechanical effects - those does not make them susceptible to additional effects of this rite. Beyond this, all of their stats are debuffed by 10.
If their Spirit is one milestone tier lower than that of the caster's, in addition to their Spirit being debuffed by a tier as above, breaking out of or into the affected area will be impossible, and all of their stats are debuffed by 20 instead of 10.
If their Spirit is two or more tiers lower, then in addition to previous effects, they are either rendered totally immobile, and/or will begin to gradually weaken and dissolve as they are purified.
Hollows with Spirit one tier higher than the caster's are weakened by roughly half a tier in Spirit, but are otherwise unaffected.
Hollows whose Spirit is two or more tiers higher are unaffected.
【Zanpakuto】
Sealed State
~"Here I am, my little one."~
Additional Description: The haraegushi, or taima, is a type of wooden wand topped with shide, or paper streamers, used in Shinto purification rituals, the term "haraegushi" specifically indicating an octagonal shape to the stave. In Gairi's case, the wand happens to be simple in form, but long enough that he can use it as a cane - a holdover from the Fullbring he possessed in life. The only real modification is the presence of a red-strung handle atop the streamers; this is the handle of his zanpakuto, sheathed and stored within, and the rest of the wand readily dismissed at will to let him unsheathe the tanto properly.

Inner World & Spirit:
It is perhaps a stereotype, but the inner world of the Shinto priest is, in fact, a Shinto shrine. And not a small one, either; a long entrance pathway gives way eventually to a central courtyard, surrounded by multiple immaculate flower gardens, and ultimately the shrine proper, dedicated to what appears to be a significant kami, although not one identifiable as any which is known to exist. Additionally, three smaller buildings can be accessed on each side of the shrine, though they seem to lack immediate purpose. Beyond the bounds of the structure, however, the sky lingers black, not blue; and if one stares long into these outer boundaries, one may be tempted to believe something moves within them, like a predator waiting to strike.
A nun would not be the first thing that comes to mind when one considers the weapon spirit of a former kannushi. Yet, inexplicably tending the shrine is a single, pale woman, shrouded almost entirely in the garb of a Western-style nun from a Western-style nunnery or monastery. Little can be discerned of her form as a result, beyond slender hands and a narrow face with pale blue eyes... and, hinting at greater darkness within, the grasping red claws of who knows what occasionally reaching from within the outfit, tending in their turn but jarringly. Tender too is her attitude: like a mother to her son, or a teacher to her student, she treats Gairi with a gentle touch, albeit firm where needed, for is it not so that to learn demands the occasional redirection? Perhaps a bit too firm, every so often: anger, when it overtakes her but briefly, is usually accompanied by an influx of reddened claws, reaching out at the source of her frustration until it is quelled.
Shikai
~"Rebuild my world, Kinshi no Dai Madō-shi (禁止の大魔道士, Unspeakable Archmage)."~
Ability: Shimikomaseru (Imbue, Kanji: 染み込ませる, lit. "impregnate") The most basic ability of Unspeakable Archmage is to imbue Reiatsu into objects, up to and including itself. More specifically, Gairi can use it to channel his energy into a target, at its most basic overlaying his Reiatsu signature on to an item or person, and generally giving these objects many of the typical properties of something possessing significant extra Reiryoku, including letting other living beings use that Reiatsu themselves. This is, however, a very minute understanding of what imbuing more Reiatsu can mean: when greater Reiatsu is imbued into his Zanpakuto, it essentially empowers it to a far greater degree than one might expect, letting Gairi dole out disproportionate harm with basic strikes, and cut into targets who would otherwise be far harder to damage. This does not have to be raw Reiatsu, either, as it can be tinged with elemental effects such as fire, ice, lightning, poison, and the like, causing these attacks to acquire properties appropriate to the element imbued - or, for objects at least, affecting them with these properties directly. And this isn't even going into what happens when he casts Kido through Unspeakable Archmage; in short, even basic spells can become absurdly strong, burning flammable materials or freezing targets to the bone, or becoming incredibly hard to guard against. Or much easier, if the element chosen for a spell has a ready counter available to it. Gairi cannot negate the detrimental properties of elements imbued - fire will spread if not controlled, and in turn be doused by water; lightning may damage a target's heart more than intended, and in turn will veer toward more conductive targets that pass near it; and so on for any imbuement of choice. Even if all that is added is raw potency, the Reiatsu has to come from somewhere; that would be Gairi himself, or suitable sources of stored Reiatsu if he has them. In other words, use of this ability will always exchange longevity in a fight for larger bursts of power.
Kinshi no Dai Madō-shi's base ability has two foundational components. First, per post, it stores the equivalent of 12 Attribute points of Spirit, up to a maximum equal to Gairi's Reiryoku. At any time, Gairi may use the stored points and add them to his Spirit stat for a single spell, clash, or strike; he does not need to use all of it at once if he does not want to. These points may also be used to fuel his Shikai techniques, described as part of their respective Mechanics. Secondarily, once per two posts, Gairi may choose to use his Base Spirit stat to defend, attack, or clash using his Zanpakuto when his Strength would normally be used.
Techniques
Jinsokuna Jumon (Swift Spell, kanji: 迅速な呪文; requires 55 Attunement) Slightly more complex than the base ability, by imbuing Reiatsu into Unspeakable Archmage in a particular pattern, Gairi can form and cast relatively simple Kido rapidly and without need for further incantation - in the case of pre-existing spells, they cannot be more difficult than #40 without losing power from their base. On the other hand, with distinct patterns of Reiatsu, the true power of this technique is revealed, as it allows Gairi to fire off entirely new spells based on theory-crafting about what certain patterns ought to achieve. That in mind, these spells are not necessarily entirely predictable: they may be similar but not identical to their intended effect, as well as potentially much weaker or much, much stronger, neither of which is strictly desirable when predictability is an asset. In either case, memorising precise patterns as they are arranged and fired off is extraordinarily difficult in the heat of battle, albeit not necessarily impossible.
To cast spells ranked from #1-20 at least 12 points must be spent, whereas spells ranked #21-40 cost 24 points. If attempting to recreate a previously created spell effect, Gairi may choose to either use the same amount of points and then roll 1d2, casting it successfully on a 2; or he may use double the amount of points used to create the initial effect to ensure it is cast successfully.
Migawari (Substitute, kanji: みがわり, lit. "scapegoat"; requires 65 Attunement) Certain spells are considered more dangerous than others. For many forms of Hado, this is because they demand the sacrifice of the body; and for Forbidden Kido, the price is often the stability of local magic, or even the life of the caster or of others. This technique is a workaround to these problems, as via its ability, Unspeakable Archmage serves as a suitable and reusable substitute for any such external demands, rendering the affected Kido far more easily used without any sacrifice of life or limb at all. This is not to say there is no cost, since of course this substitution requires sufficient Reiatsu to fuel, but comparatively speaking it is a far cheaper expense, to the point of rendering many such "Forbidden" Kido entirely acceptable to use en masse for Gairi in particular.
If using this technique to replace the sacrifice of a limb, 48 points are used, and his Zanpakuto will not accrue points for two posts. If attempting to cast Forbidden Kido using his Zanpakuto as a medium via this technique, he must spend 80 points in addition to rolling 1d2, casting it successfully on a 2. Later on, he may use double the points to ensure a success.
Hokan-sho (Storage, kanji: 保管所; requires 75 Attunement) An upgrade, in a sense, to the power of Substitute, Storage is able to be simply described as using Unspeakable Archmage as a longer-term store of Reiatsu. Most simply, this lets Gairi hold additional spirit energy in the weapon, and more specifically containing a certain amount in the zanpakuto's inner world, letting him charge this power even when he is not accessing Shikai specifically. With a bit more precision, though, Kido can be stored within the inner world too: up to three separate Kido can be stored without risk, translating into reality as essentially one extra spell per trident prong, each able to be released at full incantation power essentially at will. Whilst more can technically be stored, the risk of what amounts to overcrowding and spell colliding with spell escalates the more he attempts to contain as well as the more potent the spells stored, with catastrophic results if overstoring reaches a critical point of failure.
If simply using this technique to store additional Reiatsu, Gairi may store up to 1.5x his Reiryoku score. Gairi may store a single spell every two posts, if in Shikai, he will not accrue points during said posts. Alternatively, Gairi may use half the points necessary to cast the spell in question to store it instantly without further penalty (costs Reiatsu points in storage or accrued points). If he attempts to store more than three spells, it will cause Backlash, causing him to lose Reiatsu equivalent to half the cost of the three spells already stored in addition to losing all stored spells.
Shutoku (Acquisition, kanji: 取得; requires 85 Attunement) A much more unusual technique, indicating Gairi's heightened control over his Inner World. Instead of directly pouring Reiatsu into Unspeakable Archmage, one or more red clawed arms emerges from the frame of the weapon, grabbing at a specified target with significant Reiryoku and gripping them with substantial spiritual strength. As they cling to the target, their Reiatsu is steadily drained out of their body, pouring into Unspeakable Archmage for use by Gairi in fuelling its ability and techniques; however, foreign Reiatsu can be far harder to control than his own, depending on factors such as how much is currently stored, the target's power, the goal when using this power, and even more subtle factors such as the target's Reiatsu signature compared to Gairi's own.
This technique requires 24 points to initiate in a post. If it hits a target, it attempts to siphon Reiatsu, initiating a Spirit clash which if successful will absorb a base total of 48 points of Reiatsu. Gairi may only siphon if his Spirit milestone tier is equal to or greater than that of the target; the technique will fail if the target's Spirit milestone is greater than his, or if the technique is avoided. For every Spirit milestone tier above the target, he may siphon an additional 24 points of Reiatsu.
As surprising as it might be, it is almost impossible to sneak through town when one is nine meters tall.
He had done his best to hide his appearance, shrouding himself in what was essentially a massive hessian sack and a crude wooden mask. But nothing could be done for his size, or the minute earthquakes resonating briefly with every footstep. And to be frank, he rather felt as if he were drawing more attention by appearing almost as if he were some sort of strange oversized sack-ghost. Certainly, a great many eyes turned to him as he passed, though he ignored them in favour of his eventual goal. The tavern.
He'd heard the crew had started there. If anyone was left, that was where they'd go, surely. Many had fallen even before himself. The chances that anyone remained were... slender.
Perhaps more concerningly, the chances of his getting inside of any of these buildings was even more slender. The boat he'd come in on was fairly large, but with only enough storage space to carry him and the minimum necessary sustenance this far, and he'd been using the food sack itself as cover from the elements. He had no intention of getting back on if he could help it - unless the remainder of the crew was truly a tale. The point being, it became very clear very swiftly that, far from walking into the tavern, he'd be lucky to fit one arm inside without knocking over a table, and the people at the table with it.
Though, inexplicably, his arrival seemed to have gone unnoticed by most inside: as he leaned down to peer in, he realised that they were by and large far too busy celebrating - perhaps the success of the Marines, if fate had a sort of spiteful logic to it. All of them, save for one small group in the corner...
Beneath the mask, he smiled. Might be he had a chance at reuniting with some of the old guard after all.
Creeping around to the nearest window, he looked in again. There, the nervous chap in the cloak: Zerry, the hair-like tentacles unmistakeable once you knew them well enough. And next to him, surly-like and clearly upset with the way things had gone: the, the, she was an engineer right? Different division, never somebody he'd met personally, but he knew she was a Sea Reaver too. And the smallest one: Poppy, the only Dwarf he was aware of in their ranks, but strong for her minute size. And one more lady: he'd recall her name if he let it stew a tad, but the big "person" behind her had to be her robot. Big, not Ōminkumimi big, but still hefty.
But speaking of "big"... no Magdalena. Which, truly, was a pity and a half. If anyone was likely to survive... then again, she'd also been the single biggest target.
Still, it couldn't be helped. What could be helped was how to get their attention; in the end, he settled for gently tapping the glass of the window with the edge of his fingernail, which still rattled it in its frame like a fist trying to knock it down. Should one of them open it up for him, he'd take the opportunity to raise the mask a little, give a cheesy grin, and in his deep baritone utter 'Kept you waiting, didn't I?'

【Capabilities】
