Post something roughly every few days if you feel things are stagnating. I need to get a real feel for how many of us are still in this.
UMMA Vessel Tanngrisnir

Kilphy was walking across the hallways, which showed a full panoramic view of the void, when she too spotted the black-haired girl flying parallel to the ship. She was amazed that anyone could survive out there. If Kilphy wanted to go out there, she would have to get into her full Nelke Neko outfit - which doubled as a skin-tight space suit - to protect herself from the harsh environment of space.

After a few moments of gawking, she realized that the Siesta sisters would have seen this as well since they were in charge of communications. Kilphy put her bucket down and found the nearest in-built phone, dialing some numbers to reach the crew.

"Hello? This is Kilphy Nekomata, reporting from maintenance duty. I've spotted a female figure outside from Hallway 23. Would you like for me to go out and intercept her?"

But the beef's there - he's crazy. Or at least, he's going crazy.

I didn't see that at all. All I saw was a neutral and detached guy with some decent qualities.

I'm actually trying a lot of things with Seth and that personality section, like using the weird kind of prose you'd see on the TYPE-MOON wiki, for the purpose of making him not just a character, but also a sort of meta-commentary on how people try so hard to make 'unique' and 'complex' characters these days.

That's fine and good, but don't forget that this is an RP. They tend to have a bad habit of fizzling out quickly, so I hoping you don't exert too much creative energy in something that could potentially fail. As much as you want to make him a representation of going against the whole 'unique and complex character' thing, I still want him to be easy enough to understand. I want to read his bio and fully understand what he's going to be about in preparation for interacting my hot-blooded dude Melvin with Seth.

But of course, I couldn't settle for making a shallow character while I'm at it, so perhaps I can't say that this is completely true. Perhaps I tried too hard myself. Though your observation is fair - if you require it, I'll whittle down the personality. To be honest, not all of it is there, since he actually dabbles in politics, in a way. He has connections in the Zenterr military, men and women who've looked past simple sentiments, and you can't exactly call him a simple, mindless soldier. But at the same time he's not manipulable, with the state of mind he's at.

So let me get this straight about him. Seth has removed himself from the worst of society's issues and prejudices. He has light involvement with Zenterr's military and those folks who look past simple prejudices, preferring to see the bigger picture. But since society as a whole fails to see the 'big picture' that Seth sees, he's isolated himself from the prattle and is slowly going crazy from the world's ignorance, unable to find many like-minded people who share his view.

As for Altair, it's the halberd seen in the picture. I wanted to include a name, but didn't know how to put it alongside a general classification of the weapon, sorry.

Oh, right, forgot about the picture. Derp moment on my part. Thanks.

@ The Blue Sylph: Don't forget that she can use general base artes like Demon Fang and Sonic Thrust. I don't think she should have magic, though. That would make her a Magic Knight class rather than a Swordsman, and I don't want characters having a ton of artes at their disposal right in the beginning. Just because characters have Thaumae doesn't mean they have to use magic. Fix those, and she will be good.

@ Leviathan: Shoot me a PM and I'll see what you have in mind.
As long as they're not too powerful at the moment. I noticed that some elements were sorely lacking in the fighting artes such as light, darkness, ice and water if you were thinking of that.
I know it's WIP, but the description of Seth's personality is too much. I read the whole thing word for word and I felt like I understood him less and less as it went on. The best I understood is that Seth isn't biased, but he also isn't too involved with Glazend's politics and won't force others to change their beliefs. He plays an impartial part in society and doesn't enforce his beliefs and identity upon others. At the same time, Seth also has some morals that he will follow such as loyalty, patience and unity. The rest was all gobbledygook to me. As deep and complex you wish to make Seth, a lot of stuff needs to be cut.

As my high school English teacher always said: "Where's the beef?" That's basically what I'm asking here.

Also, what kind of weapon is Altair?
Accepted Lumen and all other characters to this point.
Rem if you want powerful individual healing spells (First Aid, Heal, Restore) and Resurrection, or Undine if you want spells that heal multiple characters (Hurtless Circle, Nurse, Revitalize).
As long as you add one soon, that's OK. We do need a healer if you wanna make her one.
You need two Thauma, not just one.
You're welcome. I was quite reluctant there, but as long as we don't have a ridiculous influx of Dark Elves, you should be OK.

Speaking of which, time to introduce mine.

Name: Melvin
Age: 23
Appearance: Old image of him here
Birthplace: Boreas
Personality: Melvin is as hot-blooded as they come. He doesn’t think things through rationally, preferring to act on raw instinct and emotion rather than what’s logical and ‘right’. This also makes him charismatic and courageous, taking the hits for others and accepting blame for anything he feels he’s truly responsible for. He has an incredibly strong will to survive, and nothing will get in his way. Melvin possesses extreme hatred for Boreas and the Sect of Maxwell due to the experiments they did to him, and has been trying to rally others into staging an uprising against them. He wants to expose the horrible truth of the Sect to the world, hoping to overturn the Thauma system and throw them out of power. Despite his overbearing masculinity, Melvin hates alcohol due to personal reasons.
Race: Dark Elf
Canon or OC: OC
Weapon: twin axes
Thauma #1: Efreet
Thauma #2: Lorelei
Base Artes: Tiger Blade, Tempest, Beast, Hell Pyre, Burning Wheel
Bio: Melvin started life as a Half-Elf, and right from the start he’s had it rough. He was sold to the Sect’s thaumaturges in Boreas by his alcoholic Human father to get enough money for a day’s worth of liquor. Melvin was one of the first subjects in the Dragon Blood Project, and also one of the most successful. His appearance had radically changed, and he felt like an alien in his own body. The thaumaturges then tried to use different Thaumae to try and control his mind, but Melvin’s willpower was too strong for them.

Then an Elven traitor to the Boreas High Council – Duke Larcen Serizawa – marched into the place and single-handedly destroyed the facility in one night. He rescued many survivors of the Sect’s research, including Melvin, and burned documents relating to forbidden subjects. This greatly damaged the Sect’s stronghold in Boreas for a short while, allowing the captives to escape south to Zenterr or Sord where Boreas’ political power couldn’t reach.

Larcen’s strength and actions inspired Melvin to pursue the same path, although he never did ask why the Duke was destroying the Sect’s research. At first he assumed that Larcen was rebelling against the council, but then he disappeared and the Sect regained its footing in Boreas. Larcen hasn’t been seen since, so it’s left many unanswered questions in Melvin’s mind – is Larcen trying to save people, or is there something else? Despite this, Melvin continues to build a resistance force of his own in Sord and southern Zenterr in the hopes of finding the truth, thereby crushing Boreas and the Sect for good.
