The Paradigm Stone

So I'll try to glance through the list of names again, but feel free to start tossing out ideas for the city! I only have a few features that I already thought about.

-Maybe it's a peninsula city (Like New York or Gotham)
-I just like ports and shipping yards for some reason.
-An Arkham-like jail for our super villains in withdraw.
-Still need a Genetics/Tech Corporation

Any other ideas and neighborhood/specific locations are welcome!

-Psychological Profile-

Personality: Not inherently evil, the base motivation to his actions are for his own well being. Having grown up in poverty and with a lack of any real recognition, he's quickly taken to a brighter disposition with his new powers. Filled with a bit more banter and cockiness than usual, Finn isn't afraid of slinging insulting jokes. He won't go charging in, killing civilians without a care in the world, but isn't afraid to use them as hostages or decoys. If an infant is in front of a train, of course he'll rescue it, but you won't catch him sitting on the police scanner waiting for the next petty criminal. Finn has a definite desire for financial stability, so some banks might not be safe in his path. Over all, he's a powerful ally with a wild, fun personality.

Strengths: Usually level-headed when it comes to coming up with a plan on the go. Creative with the use of his powers, although he hasn't gotten to his full potential. Easily exhausted when his powers are over-exerted.

Weaknesses: Extremely curious, to the point where he'll investigate almost anything. A growing superiority complex when his abilities began to develop. Prone to psychic assault and glass is the most likely to pass through his natural defense against metal. He's susceptible to extreme strain during use of his powers; nosebleeds, ringing ears, tunnel vision/fuzzy vision, headaches, muscle strain, fatigue. Lifting, pushing and pulling objects are equal to how long he can hold his breath.

Fears: Government experimentation or losing his newly found abilities and fading back into a nobody.

-Power Points-

Magnetic Field Manipulation: 3
-Currently learning to tune his abilities, Finn is capable of rolling small cars, moving most forms of metal and refining his fine motor skills with magnetism. It seems that the more he reads, learns about and understands the science behind magnetism, the more he's able to accomplish.

Force Field Creation: 3
-His very first manifested ability, Finn's own electromagnetic field is tuned in such a way that (even without his concentration) it doesn't allow many materials through. Gunshots and an metallic objects are virtually useless against him.

Flight: 3
-Fast, precise and with a refined ability to maneuver. He has a growing control over flight as a push-pull force against the Earth's own magnetic field.

Hideout: 1
-An abandoned metal scrap yard outside the edge of a rarely used section of the docks.

Endurance: 2
-Mostly due to his constant electromagnetic force field, Finn is able to resist far more damage than the average super. Flying through an office building, being hit by a lamp post, or being tossed into a brick wall would only result in minor cuts and bruises. Prolonged fighting will leave him fatigued and he's more likely to pass out from over use of his powers than physical abuse.

-Destitute with just a suitcase of old suits and his super uniform.

-Some MMA and boxing training from old coworkers; with his added super strength.

-Amazingly strong for his small size, Finn is also able to lift far more than one would think. He's often able to look stronger than he is when interacting with metal objects (kicking in a helicopter or pushing a car aside).

Job: Unemployed (Former Tattoo Artist)

Home: Recently evicted/kicked out by his ex-girlfriend

Wealth/Lifestyle: Fired from his job of eight years, he has no savings to speak of and no credit at his disposal. He was currently hired by an individual for an extremely lucrative job...

Clothing Style: Seven suits, and ties, he quite literally has no other clothing to speak of. After his ex-girlfriend burned all of his clothing on the front sidewalk, antique suitcase of his grandfather's old suits are all he has. Luckily, his grandfather was the exact same pint-size as Finn.

Friends/Relationships: TBD

Rivalries: TBD

Public/Professional Goals: To gain wealth, status and notoriety within the city. Not interested in being the most powerful super in the world, Finn simply wishes to survive. He hasn't yet decided the methods to his ideal path in life.

-Secret Identity-

Uniform: A short sleeve, hooded shirt made of netting, black canvas pants, steel toed boots and steel-knuckle leather gloves. The lower half of his face is covered by a black, thin fabric ski mask.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Combat Method: Brief training by a fellow coworker who worked as an MMA fighter after hours. Finn was taught to use his body size and speed against larger opponents as well as the basics of boxing. Being small, he has an inclination to roll out of the way and dodge more than going in swinging. Over all he knows how to fight enough to surprise anyone willing to scrap with him.


Hideout: It was originally a place he began practicing his powers- and continues to do so on a daily basis. News vans have no reason to visit, gang members are quickly scared off; making it basically cut off from the city itself. He discovered a single, civil war-era mine shaft directly beneath the scrap yard. It's about three thousand square feet of creepy tunnels that he's slowly been reinforcing with steel beams and lighting as he goes.

Mode of Transportation: Flight, jumping from roof to roof, or by foot

Allies/Relationships: TBD (It would be fun to have a Batman/Catwoman relationship with someone)

Motivations/Goals: Currently one simple goal- money.

-Paradigm Stone-

Paradigm Stone Appearance: A spherical stone that is exactly half an inky black and half white. The white side has an exposed interior that pulses a faint white light. It is unable to be worn and usually held in his left hand or orbiting around his body like a small moon.



Personal Appearance Changes: While in possession of the stone, he suffers from physical deterioration. Finn's skin turns a pale gray with splotches of black veins and peeling skin. His eyes become entirely black with dark rings covering his eye sockets.

Power/Ability Progression: Capable of controlling the Earth's own magnetic field in a localized setting. He's well within the range of creating mass destruction; sky scrapers made of steel beams have little to no chance and any military (i.e. metal bullets and missile) attacks are pointless. Finn can manipulate metal on a microscopic level as well as the iron in human blood. His strength is doubled and endurance leaves him an extremely formidable opponent.

Power-Drunk Goals: To rule the city.

Weakness: Psychic assault and multiple supers are the most obvious route to take out his inflated powers and sense of control.

Withdraw Symptoms: Similar to heroin withdraw, Finn is hit with crippling fits of pain. The agony is paired with fevers, hallucinations and general loss of control with his powers.

As for your images, it's a great way to get your character's appearance across. I won't be allowing anime or anything far from realism, but that wasn't brought up until now.

Expectations

-This is an Advanced RP so all grammar/past tense/third person is expected.
-It's an open sand box world, so have fun with it! I want characters with a lot of drive.
-A fun and active OOC makes for a smoother RP in my opinion, so don't be afraid to get to know one another!
-Discuss possible plot lines with the whole RP and plan along with one another. Let your character be defeated every once in a while- it'll help them grow!
-You're welcome to have specific details and possibly double-crossings take place through private messages between different players.
-The comic book universe if full of villains who used to be heroes and the other way around, so don't be afraid to let your character evolve and change.
-Character deaths must be ok'd by their player, but people who go missing will have their characters put up for grabs; any player will be allowed to let their villain kill/hero incarcerate said character.
-Most importantly, have fun!

One Week Ago...

-It was a normal, sunny day with clear skies and a blissfully unaware population. There was a sudden sound, a shock wave that ripped through the air, accompanied by a blinding flash of light that was gone as fast as it came. News channels instantly had footage uploaded from citizens across the city- footage of a meteor streaking through the sky just before the ominous impact.
-Local scientists denied knowledge of where the object had landed or what the event could have been. It was far from the behavior most meteors exhibited and even amateur students knew that there had to have been some kind of object to be found.
-In the past week (or month, depending on what the group thinks) our characters have been feeling... different.
-They can have just now discovered their powers or you can choose to hold off for as long as you want. Or you don't have to play a super powered person at all.
-Character powers do not need to stem from the stone. They can be from technology, serums, alternate universe energy (magic) or just highly trained in specific fields.

-The meteor was, in fact, an object called the Paradigm Stone. It was instantly scooped up from a field outside the city by a corporation called Genetico (name to be changed).
-The Paradigm Stone has the ability to increase an individual's abilities while staying in contact with it (crown/glove/necklace).
-It will change shape, cut, color and how it is worn according to whichever master it serves.
-Possession of the stone means that your character will be able to take on three others at once before being subdued.
-Prolonged use of the Paradigm Stone/Gem increases the addiction and need for it. Mental deterioration and burning out result from extended use.
-For every minute a character uses the Gem, they will need an equal amount of time purging and withdrawing from the energy given off.
-Some may wish to keep the Paradigm Gem locked in an iron and lead lined case until it needs to be used, much like it currently is.

Powers and Points

-Every character is going to be equal to one another.
-One-on-one brawls are evenly matched where an agreement can be made for the outcome.
-Two characters working together will be able to subdue a single character.
-Team work and rivalries are highly recommended

-Points-
-You will have a fifteen point system with a three point limit to distribute between any range of skills you would like.
-Your character is an average citizen in every area that isn't awarded any points. That means if you don't have any points in 'Vehicle', 'Hideout' or 'Wealth', then your character is a homeless person walking on foot with no super base of operations.
-Zero points of wealth is living without income or very low class, without resources. One point is middle class. Two points is upper middle class with a nice home. Three points is exceptionally wealthy.

Character Arcs

-Secret Identity lives are just as important as the superhero life.
-Weave character stories together. Have superhero rivals have a brief romantic relationship in their 'real' lives. Perhaps social rivals work together as nefarious villains looking to take control of the genetics industry.
-Give your character a GOAL! No one likes to write with a static character that has no personal drive. Give your hero an incurable disease that might turn them to the dark side. Maybe your billionaire heiress loses all her money at the beginning of the game and will stop at nothing to restore herself. There needs to be a reason you're writing from their point of view and showing their story.
-Work with one another in the planning process before submitting a finished profile. You can revise and edit a posted one as well.
-You do not need to be a super powered citizen. You can be a cop, corporate leader, scientist or anyone with refined skills looking to change the world for better or worse.

-We will need specific character roles to be filled such as: the CEO of Genetico, a scientist for the same company, maybe a police officer, possibly a reporter, etc.

The Unnamed City

-The city is currently without a name (but some good suggestions!) and without a lot of details. It's open to discussion to make specifics and a map (help needed!).
-You can use the citizens of the city as hostages, distractions or innocents to defend.
-This is an open sandbox world. Work with your character's main goals to shape the city in your own story. Your poor genius character wants a super laser? Looks like she needs to rob a bank. Your character is a thankless defender of the city? Looks like there's a bank heist in progress.
-Possession of the Paradigm Stone will give your character serious sway in influencing the city as a whole.

Got my character prepped and ready to go for the OOC! Skills were picked out using the open method. Admittedly, still a work in progress, though. I have a habit of drawing my characters out, and her portrait just got done but I need her "Uniform". If anyone else has their character done, want to work together with backstory/rivalries/nemeses?

Fantastic! Ill have the OOC and my two profiles up by the end of the day. So far I'm going with a neutral magnetism super that can be swayed to either side and a billionare heiress with investments in almost every business in town and a sort of mobstress of the city.
