Current I did not have "Nicki Minaj getting added as a playable character in a major FPS game" on my 2023 bingo card.

I can't be the only one who feels patronized when someone calls me "buddy", right?

Word of advice: forums may not be the best place to look for significant others. Met my first girlfriend on a forum, and now I would give my left nut to forget her.

"Mayday! Mayday! This is Yamada Airlines Flight 217! We have lost power and are swiftly losing altitude! If anyone can hear us, our coordinates are-!"

For two and a half hours the flight had gone normally. No turbulence, no weather. A clear, beautiful day above the Pacific. Bored children misbehaving and some college kids caught trying to join the mile high club, but nothing drastic. It had been business as usual. Then...

A jolt rocked the airliner, accompanied by the smell of ozone and the sensation of static in the cabin. Outside the sky had become pitch black, punctuated by the occasional jagged crack of lightning. The "fasten seatbelt" signals flashed on as oxygen masks dropped for each passenger. A voice came over the loudspeakers, sounding as calm as possible despite the circumstances.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Please remain calm, fasten your seatbelts, and put your oxygen masks on. We are attempting to make an emergency landing."

A second, harder impact hit the plane, sending bags, trays, and cups flying. Children cried, their parents trying to calm them down. Prayers in different languages to different gods could be heard in the air.

And yet, through all of it, Yoshinaga felt a kind of serenity. Like she no longer had to worry anymore. No guilt, no worry, no nothing. Soon she'd be relieved of everything. She breathed slowly, taking her glasses off and slipping them into the case in her jacket before closing her eyes. Sorry, Mom. Sorry, Dad. Seems I won't meet you at the airport after all.

She felt the plane tipping backwards before something struck her in the face. The last thought that went through her head was a semblance of thankfulness that she wouldn't feel anything when the plane went down.

When Yoshinaga came to, everything hurt. Bones, joints, muscles, everything, however nothing felt broken. Maybe a bruise or a sprain here or there, though. Well that means I didn't bite it in the crash, she thought. Koi opened her eyes... or, rather, eye. Her left eye refused to open, and a quick probing with her fingertips told her that it was swollen shut from whatever had hit her.

The next thing that Koi felt was the air: hot and sticky, like back in Guam, but magnified. The pilots must have managed to get land on an island or something. The odds of that happening seemed astronomically low, and yet, it had happened. Yoshinaga unbuckled herself and slowly stood up. The movement made her head throb.

Her throat was dry and scratchy but she did her best to make herself heard, speaking English as clearly as she could. "Hello? Is anyone there?"
A bump after so very long.
You can probably guess why.

I want to explore the world of the Jurassic franchise post-Dominion. How are humans and modern animals adapting to resurrected species spreading across the globe? What kind of entities have gotten their hands on Owen and the IBRIS Project's research involving training raptors? These are the kind of stories I would like to explore, be it from the point of view of a human character or maybe even a dinosaur (preferably in a manner similar to the story "Raptor Red"). I will update this thread when I come up with more concrete ideas, but I would love to hear ideas pitched, be it for a group or 1x1 setting.

Plot Ideas

Tiera Ares wasn't exactly happy about her current assignment. Shandoria was a beautiful planet, and filled to the brim with different cultures and creatures, but working on the "hearts and minds" front of the UGN's fight against the Bydo Empire wasn't what she'd signed up for. And, given Raijin's behavior, her familiar wasn't thrilled that they weren't fighting. It was a trait bred into his species over hundreds of generations by the people of Austar, something that could be suppressed, but never eliminated. Raijin enjoyed a good scrap, and it had been too long since Tiera had gotten permission to let him run wild outside of simulations.

That all changed when the sky darkened and the alarms began blaring.

Tiera was in the park with Raijin. A couple of kids had insisted on getting a picture with her and the drake. She wasn't particularly well known as far as Mages went--a fact confirmed by a quick Gogol search--but the children had been so insistent. The children's expressions quickly shifted to one of worry as the sky darkened and cracked. Tiera knew what was about to come. She'd never seen it happen in person, but she'd seen enough footage of Bydo invasions in human space to know what was about to happen.

"Get to the closest shelter!" she instructed. Tiera felt a change in the atmosphere. A sizable burst of magical energy.

<This is Mana Septima, preparing to engage. Anyone else out there?>

Tiera blinked. She still wasn't used to the usage of telepathy. Unlike with most Mages, it didn't come naturally to her. <<Tiera Ares, reporting,> she projected. It took some conscious effort, but she got the message sent. <I'm assisting civilians to a nearby shelter. Once they're safe I can assist.>

A chill ran up Norika's spine. Everything going quiet had been a bad sign. However she didn't expect... whatever the hell this thing was. A bunch of worms or slugs, formed into a larger creature. She'd seen some reports of Warped like this, but she'd never encountered one herself. Her techniques wouldn't work on something like this, but she'd have to try.

"Dulac, blast it!"

She didn't need to be told twice. Norika raised her weapon and aimed before squeezing off two shots. The huge rounds were designed to embed in armor and flesh before exploding. But when the target was composed of millions of tiny slugs, all they did was pass through the writing mass of flesh before embedding and detonating in the wall behind it. The Warped's limbs retracted into its body before massive tentacles shot towards Norika and Xuan-Yu.

Norika leaped backwards. "Any more bright ideas?" she asked sarcastically.

Seeing as how this is your setting, I would think having you start us off would be for the best, but I can get a post up if you like.
